Here at Lake Shorr for friends birthday party! I like this place for friends gathering. Always best when weather is nice.

    Outside seating area.

This winery is open late enough to catch an awesome sunset over the lake! Note, this is a small winery. You aren't coming for fancy, if that's your look, move on. Families on the deck were playing a board game, we got a great pizza and sat around a nice fire. We tried a handful of wines and really appreciated the suggestions and kindness shown by the staff. Try the Brianne if you like a lightly sweet white try the Chambourcin if you like a red Zin. Norton fan, the Cynthiana.

We stopped by another winery which was crowded and no where to sit. On the way home we discovered Shorr. Wine tasting is unlimited and wines are very good. Atmosphere is beautiful and clientele are laidback and great to be around. Bonus today - live music 4-close! Food choices are very limited but you can bring your own favorite wine snacks. Extremely pleasant Sunday afternoon!

I got to sample their wines, I liked their Niagara Mascoutah the best. Good customer service and a nice fire pit outside to keep you warm.

I love wineries off the beaten path and this is one of them! On Easter, we decided to take a wine trip. It was gorgeous weather for it! But we are adventurous people and didn't want to go to the usual like Augusta, Hermann and St. Genevieve. ( Although those are great wineries.) We wanted to go somewhere different. So we decided to go East, Metro East that is. I found a small, family-own winery in Waterloo, Il called Schorr Lake Winery. It is situated right next to a lake which gives a great view. When we walked down the pathway, we were greeted warmly by one of the owners. Talk about making you feel at home! You get 5 complimentary tastings and any more is just a dollar more. We decided on a Vidal Blanc which is smooth and crisp, but not too dry. We can bring our own food, which is a definite plus! And you know, after a few bottles of wine, people get real friendly. The little store where you get your wine is quaint and cute. You can dine inside or out. They even had an Easter Egg hunt with Adult prizes! It was fun, although I missed the golden egg. Come check out this lovely location, right off Route 3 in Waterloo!

Seriously, this is probably the best Chambourcin I've ever had and one of the best Norton's (Cynthiana) that I've had.

Arthur was the live music for the day and he played a great variety of songs (acoustic guitar). The wine is fantastic. I do not know a lot about wine, but I do know that each one we tasted (6) was very easy to drink. We shared a bottle there and I brought 2 home. Bonus: you can bring your own snacks (no beverages). I love this. I enjoy planning my own winery snacks. I was bummed when many wineries quit allowing food because they opened kitchens. So if I have to pay $30+ for food. I'm buying less wine. Anywaaaay, make a little weekend out of visiting this area and have a lovely time at Edg Clif. (Photos do not do it justice)

Not only was the wine delicious (check out the "Classic" if you're a red wine person - you won't be disappointed), but the beer was also fantastic (the black Lager - nailed it!). I've only come across a handful of places that can do both well - your entire party will be delighted! With almost 360-degree views of the vines and Mark Twain National Forrest, this is an oasis in the Ozarks!

The venue was beautiful, cozy, and the perfect setting for our celebration. Everything was exceptionally clean, tidy, and welcoming. The catering was very affordable, and the food was delicious! We chose the BBQ pork, chicken, and several sides, and our guests couldn't stop complimenting the meal. A special thank you to Chef Brian and the entire staff for being so friendly, accommodating, and attentive throughout the event. They made the planning process easy and helped ensure everything ran smoothly. Everyone talks about their garlic parm fries for a reason. Order them! We also ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with sesame cucumber salad and sriracha mayo, which was so good (we ordered the food to split and both agreed we should have gotten our own chx sandwich). The flatbread was also good, but the fries and chx sandwich were just so much better that the bread was left in their shadow. I can't comment much on the wine as we both ordered mimosas . The grounds were well maintained and the waitress what friendly. Will return.
