One of the worst sushis I ate in my life. No exaggeration, I tried more than 50 sushi restaurants between Atlanta and Florida.

As usual it was the worst meal and experience I've ever had! I ordered a vegan meal. They gave me a meal with oyster sauce. I sent it back! They FINALLY brought me food when everyone was finished. They substituted salt for the oyster sauce. It was like eating a salt Shaker! I have yet to have a good meal there. This was the last time! NEVER AGAIN!! Let me start by saying this has been my go-to place for a while. But tonight, I think it may be a while before I return unfortunately. I placed a mobile order for a sushi roll, crab Rangoon and spicy chicken fried rice. Picked up my order and there were 3 items...cool, I go home. They gave me soup instead of crab rangoon, I call and go back to pick up the correct item. Annoying but whatever. I get home and my spicy chicken fried rice is actually no-spice shrimp fried rice. At this point I'm not making three trips and I've wasted my money. This isn't the first time there have been mistakes. First visit to Bean Sprout. Our server was Wanit, who was friendly, organized and efficient. He provided prompt service, and offered excellent recommendations. During our first visit we found indoors a little chilly, so you may want to bring a light jacket or sweater. Therefore we chose to sit outdoors. Wanit first brought out the drinks. I would have given Bean Sprout Asian Restaurant 5 stars, but I did not like the taste of the tap water. I suggest if you choose to drink water, order bottled water. Wanit suggested a Sushi Lover's Roll, which I ordered, and with no regrets as the Sushi Lover's Roll was delicious. I'm not sure what type of fish was used in the roll, but the combination was flavorful, especially with the addition of wasabi, and sliced ginger root. Did I say delicious? Indeed it was. We were a party of five and we all enjoyed our first visit to Bean Sprouts. I would like to add, I read some of the reviews, and found some of the reviews stated the service was slow. During our visit, the service was prompt. Please keep in mind good good takes time and good food is not cheap. I would recommend giving them a try, but only if your not in a rush to get somewhere. We went twice within a week. The first visit was very good. Food came right out and was very tasty. Then we went again on Sunday and got there and ordered just before it filled up with the church crowd. I asked for extra ginger on my stir fry order and my partner ordered scallops in his stir fry. We waited just about an hour for our food. Mone was ok but his scallops had no flavor whatsoever. When we got the bill there was a $2 charge for the extra ginger. My wife and recently ate lunch at this restaurant for the second time. She wanted to go back because she really like their green curry with tofu. However, I was very disappointed with my order of tofu Pad Thai. We usually judge a Asian restaurant's based on the quality of Pad Thai. There were a five or six rather small cubes of tofu and only two or three pieces of vegetables; the sauce was very bland. I also ordered their Spicy Tuna roll which turned out to have ground up tuna (maybe) and was absolutely tasteless. I can not recommend this restaurant and we will not return. read more

Bean Sprout and I have had a serious love affajr for a few months now, it has been love at first bite and I have yet to be disappointed!!!! My staple items remain The Fisherman's Fury dish and the Taro bobba tea, but whether it be the pineapple fried rice or a tofu Panay curry... every dish has been a pleasure to try. The good was good. Heard all the hype so decided to try it out. The waitress was attentive the first half but then I'm not sure they were switching shift or what she was gone and the other staffs look like they just want you to leave. She brought the check our way too early. I still gave her a good tip and was waiting for anyone to say bye and thank you for coming but none. I guess they expected that as long food is ok and service was average all the customer will be back. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY!!! Just dine-in. If you're looking to order delivery via DoorDash, UberEats, or BiteSquad, expect your order to be pushed back in favor of diners and takeout. As a delivery courier, I represent any other patron that would otherwise have takeout. When ordering here, expect your order to be potentially late and cold after having delivery drivers, like me, cancel the delivery due to the restaurant's priorities: diners first, takeout second, and deliveries last. Even if you order well ahead of the diners and takeout, deliveries will be shuffled back. Several times, I've had to wait for over 20 minutes at Bean Sprout due to delivery orders being pushed back in favor of other patrons. One extreme, I just cancelled due to the long wait while the one ordering gets stiffed with no food. Trust me, I've seen it in action. People coming long after my arrival. I, myself, used to work for 12 years in the food industry: busser, cook, server, and management. I know what goes on. I suggest ordering from another restaurant, since they don't regard deliveries remotely as priorities, or better yet, just dine in. I, myself, have eaten there once a while back. They served up good food, but the service was subpar. Bottomline, Bean Sprout has good food but inadequate service for patrons requesting deliveries which is uncalled for. I gave it 2 stars for the quality of dining in. No stars for the leftover deliveries. If ordering for delivery, cross your fingers for prompt delivery of hot food. Hopefully, management will make corrective actions that will consider patrons that choose delivery as an equals. In the light of it all, this review may inadvertently increase the numbers in dining in and increased tips for staff and decreased amount of delivery orders. RANDOM & GROSS THINGS GO ON AT THAT COUNTER!!!!! Let me just start with saying that the staff members are usually problematic over the phone . I typically order over the phone and they are very rude & dismissive. But never did I ever imagine I would experience what I went through tonight. They usually keep the to go orders on the counter at the entrance way when you first arrive which is normally not a problem as long as my food is closed and secured properly. I never complained about this practice although with COVID-19 and the rules that all restaurants should adhere to this way of doing business should really be terminated. Tonight when I arrived my food was on the counter (per usual) waiting for me. As I was approaching the door I immediately notice a guy leaning over the counter directly in front of a takeout order with no mask on twirling his dread locs with both hands (re-twisting them) HE'S LITERALLY STYLING HIS HAIR OVER THE FOOD. He had medium length dread locs which definitely hung over his forehead and he was also leaning into the counter so the locs were hanging directly over the take out order. We are in the dead center of a global pandemic, and this stranger who had no mask on was allowed to be all over someone's food. My heart dropped as I thought "God I hope this is not my order" as I approached the counter. Sure enough it was my order and on this night the food was not properly secured. I don't know if he opened my food or someone forgot to close it tightly because no one was paying attention to the orders on the counter. I was mortified. I for sure said something to this guy about how gross and unsanitary it was for him to be twisting his hair over someone's food. Simultaneously THE OWNER approaches the counter and is asking me about my order so she can ring me up. At this point I don't have knowledge she is the owner but I bring her in on the conversation and mentioned what I witnessed the guy doing... and was still in position passively twisting his hair over the customers food on the counter as we spoke. She said to me "what is the problem, nobody else is complaining but you." I said "who else needs to complain but a paying customer?" I then asked to speak to the "owner" because with that statement we are definitely not meeting this situation with the same state of urgency, but I thought for sure the "owner" would. What do you know, she then identified herself as the "OWNER" ! I have never in all my years of living ever witness a owner of a restaurant not care about hygiene and the safeguarding of customer's food. Just very horrifying!! Especially during this global viral crisis we are facing. After she let me know she was the owner I said how can you be ok with this. You should not be ok with this and care that this has happened to my food. She looked at me and said "so you don't want it don't pay for it no problem." No apology, No correcting the issue just take it or leave it!! I said no I don't want this food, I can't believe how much you don't care about safeguarding customers food from random unsanitary behaviors like this, you should be ashamed of yourself. She then walked away from me and went over to the guy, patted him on the back and said to him, "it's not your fault." I responded and said "no it isn't his fault it's your fault."!! She is careless and reckless with food orders as they sit unattended on the counter. She has no regard to the seriousness of COVID-19 and how easily it can spread amongst people, objects and food. This establishment at The Avenues in Viera needs to be checked out by sanitation and by OSHA regulations because my daughter got food poisoning, sick from the food she ate yesterday , the Sashimi appetizer dish with the Salmon, Tuna and yellow fish that cost $10 and change , I did enjoy the place and the Pho but the cooks from the sushi bar were not wearing gloves for the food preparation. My daughter spent the night with stomach ache and vomited several times , not an emergency but she felt bad. You can have your food served mild, hot or very hot...and its really good! I enjoyed the flavors of the Indonesian rice and the pineapple rice was amazing too!..(And you don't have to enjoy the taste of that fruit to appreciate this dish :)) Sushi, boba tea, hot tea and many other options.... you can get a bit of everything here. We have eaten at several new trendy Asian restaurants around town with walk-up counters and limited menus where the prices are much higher, the food not as good (often cooked by non-Asian chefs), and the décor Spartan. Bean Sprout- Melbourne/Viera Center- 4 Stars I'm sure you have seen it as well. That one spot in town that changes restaurants every few years. I always thought it was due to location, while I am sure that is the case 90% of the time, there is the remaining 10% that fail due to lack of quality. Occupying the space that once contained the restaurant Asian Too is a new family operated eatery-- Bean Sprout. The only thing they have in common with their predecessor is that they are both Asian, other than that, Bean Sprout is miles ahead. The new owners either have impeccable interior design tastes or hired someone in the upper echelon of the profession as the decor chosen for the inside of Bean Sprout is amazing. The colors are warm, soothing and welcoming, the art is modern, minimalistic yet traditional all at the same time. If the food was half as good as the place looked I knew it would at least be edible. Our garçon for the evening was Kevin. Kevin was good-natured, professional and focused throughout. I placed an order for a Glenlivet on the rocks (specifically two rocks), 1 order of Escolar Nigiri, one spicy tuna handroll, a bowl of Duck Noodle soup and one order of Crispy Fish with Volcano Sauce. Kevin went to place my drink order along with our kitchen order and promptly returned with a glass of Scotch poured over a handful of ice. I said, "No, I asked for a drink with two ice cubes." He apologized and scurried back to the bar soon returning with a Scotch and water. At this point, I was beginning to have my doubts about the whole shebang when an Asian lady approached and introduced herself as the bartender. Trying to place my order directly with her, I quickly saw the breakdown. She may have been a competent mixologist, but her command of the English language left much to be desired. She began to get frustrated while trying to understand my simple request and ended up blaming Kevin for the mess (I don't). With that hiccup out of the way, the sushi chef placed my nigiri order in front of me and I soon forgot all else. The Escolar was cut so symmetrically that I would have sworn it was done by a machine if I didn't know differently. The pieces were not huge, but certainly, of an adequate size (I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off), the fish was firm, chilled to the correct temperature and most importantly, not pasty or fishy tasting. The rice supporting the Escolar was steamed to the perfect stickiness and slightly sweet as it is written sushi rice should be. Next up was my standard Rorschach test, the spicy tuna hand roll. The cuts of tuna were fresh, large, generously stuffed inside the epitome of a hand-rolled sushi offering, and mixed with just the right amount of chili paste to give it a bit of a kick. The julienned cucumbers nuzzling the tuna were fresh, crisp and the perfect balance of cool to the spice of the chili paste. The Duck Noodle soup was the sleeper of the meal for sure. I was expecting it to be good, but not as good as it was. The duck is battered and baked to a golden crispiness first, then sliced and set gently within a nurturing bowl of duck broth along with a plethora of goodies including fried garlic and fresh cilantro. It was served at the quintessential temperature for a soup, the broth was freshly made on site with just the right amount of tart to sweet making it worth the trip itself. This brings us to the final item of our order, the Crispy Fish with Volcano sauce. The fish was a fresh filet of Grouper, no cheap bottom feeding Tilapia to be found here. It was coated generously in a panko crust and fried to an unrivaled golden brown that left the fish firm, yet moist and flakey on the inside. The Volcano Sauce was simply put, amazing. The flavor combinations involved were subtle, intricate and extremely delicious. One second it was spicy, then sweet, then tart, then all three at once. This sauce certainly took my taste buds on a journey they won't soon forget.
