We were sat they had Avatar the Last Air Bender playing on a TV in the back, great for my daughter, and friendly staff who sat us & got our order. Their menu features Japanese, Thai, and Korean cuisine and we chose Korean that night. Didn't feel like cooking the beef so we chose the option to have the chef cook it for you. The banchan was good but very light, which I'm not used to. I request the banchan to be refilled 3x. The kimchee rice was so good, best place I've had it! Overall, I personally wouldn't return back, everything was just over the 'average-to-good-bar' but who knows, there might be something I'm missing by not coming on the weekends. read more

This place was packed when we came in. We were headed up north and this place had really good reviews. It was located in a cute little downtown. We came during the day time and we were lucky to find parking nearby. Had the tempura plate. Had all my favorites. The fry was perfect and it wasn't too greasy. I haven't left a review on yelp in a while but this place was so bad I wanted to address it. First off we walked in and were seated, we waited about 20 minutes to be served and it wasn't that busy in the building. When we told our server that that we wanted to cook our own meat she immediately seemed annoyed at us and made us feel like we were an inconvenience. when she came back to plug in the grill she huffed and puffed about how she had to plug it in. We also didn't get any silverware until we asked. My partner ordered a plum wine that she never got. They brought us another paper for the grill at one point but made us change it ourselves with no utensils to change it... then in the middle of our experience our server simply disappeared without saying if we were getting another server or anything. Someone then came to ask about our check and she seemed annoyed when we asked to have it split. Great Korean spot located in the heart of Downtown Historic Melbourne. We entered and were greeted by a very nice young lady. She told us to sit wherever we wanted. Since we had never eaten Korean food before, we asked her if she could go over the menu with us. We ordered our drinks and we went over the menu. I decided to go with her recommendation and order the Dolsot Bibimbap. I was so happy I did. This dish was absolutely delicious! It had rice, different vegetables and bulgogi meat with a basted egg over it. The dinner came with Banchan, which are small side dishes that consisted of spicy fermented cabbage, seaweed, Napa cabbage, Edamame, and Korean radishes. Never fails to deliver. If I lived closer I would have a table with my name on it. Vetty was our server and was very attentive and engaging. Making suggestions to our friend who was a first timer. I had my usual tempura app and green curry and had lunch the next day. The sea of love roll is a great combo of what we love. This little place serves really delicious Asian cuisine. We've eaten here twice and were happy both times. Everything we've seen come out of the kitchen looks and smells delicious. And the food is as good as it looks. We've over-ordered twice. We want to have our Go To dishes but also try something new. It''s a little bitty place that fills up fast. Experience: I went with some of my family who absolutely love this place. It was my first time going. They told me to meet at 1:00, because the place is always crowded if you come earlier and sometimes you can't get a table because of the lunch crowd. Facility: this place is located right in downtown Melbourne along with the other niche restaurants and bars. It is a med sized restaurant Ndhas tables and chairs with some half booth seating along the walls. Some of the tables have the built in grills for the Korean bbq. Food: everything is delicious. They serve ban chan to your table which is little side dishes like kimchi. They also give you miso soup or small salad. Both are good choices. We ordered a variety of food and everything was really tasty I loved the galbi, pad see ew, volcano chicken, and beef bulgogi. Overall: this is my favorite restaurant in the area. Absolutely yum!! This place can get busy fast, and due to limited seating and no reservations, make sure you have time to wait. It is a small place, a bit loud without much of personal space while dining. Very minimal decorations. But clean with a brilliant and helpful staff! The menu consists of traditional Korean, some Thai and some Japanese cuisine. All are fabulous! Plan on spending a long time picking what to eat because the choices feel endless. We started with hot tea and water and an order of their Monkey Brain (stuffed and deep fried avocado with crab) and the Takoyaki (Japanese octopus balls) Both were wonderful, crispy and loaded with fillings. Next was the Pork Belly BBQ which came with ALL the Banchan (Korean sides) and raw pork belly to cook on their grill. Generous portions, amazing fermented kimchi, lettuce wraps and juicy pork. Accompanied by soup or salad. (I did the ginger salad. So good!) The Seafood Jjigae was filled with tofu, squid and assorted shellfish. The definition of a comforting and warming meal!! I really enjoy the food here, but the way they handle seating and reservations are horrendous. After a reservations for 6 and 2 out of 6 people arrive early they knew we were there. Service was awesome and people were lined up out the door for a late lunch. I got the pad sew ewe hot, but it came out mild (I guess you need to ask for Thai or authentic hot). The brown sauce was a bit sweeter than I look for, but it was all really good and the chicken was properly cooked (none of that rubbery feel or squeaks, which sometimes happems when I order Thai). Mangetsu is the perfect spot for Asian food. I've had the Spicy Pork Bulgogi twice and what a hit. Great value...a lot of the food for what you pay for. We came here on a Friday and only waited 30 minutes for a table. That's is pretty amazing considering the location and we had 8 people. I ordered bulgogi and although I've never had it, I found it to be fine. I can't say it was amazing or bad. I ordered it spicy so it was spicy chicken with no real other flavors. We didn't cook it at the table since we had little hands with us. My husband ordered Panang curry and it was so good! It was thick and not watered down which makes us think they make it on the spot instead of like Thai or Indian restaurants so less watered down. My brother and sister in law ordered a bunch of condiments- but unsure of what they ordered as their meal. They said it was good but not great. They said it lacked the flavor they had grown to expect at other Korean restaurants. One thing which was a little disappointing was the children's chicken portions- it was like one butterflied chicken breast, but the smallest one they had- and it was $10 with maybe 5 pieces of veggies. Was one of our regular spots but I noticed some changes in quality which culminated in a particularly horrendous dining experience on my family's last visit. After being seated, The small worms dropping from the ceiling into my son's plate were an omen of the unpleasantness that followed. The squid in one entree tasted a bit off, the full effect of which revealed itself after we returned home. My wife's Korean seafood soup was light on the seafood and had no scallops. We were offered a desert to compensate for the worms but we declined, however after experiencing the sickness from the offending squid, I called to complain to the manager whom promised a full refund after getting an OK from her superior. The refund never materialized. We haven't returned. Now we make the same Korean dishes at home with lots of fresh seafood...and NO WORMS! read more

The food here both times were just amazing. So fun fact I lived in South Korea and I would eat kimchee all the time. I loved seeing them put the vases in the ground. I have the kimchee fried rice. The second time I ordered the la galbi (short beef ribs in Korean barbecue sauce) when I say they're marinated to the bone. I accidentally over cooked my steak though. I'm currently in culinary and that's one item we haven't cooked just yet. So I'm waiting to perfect it. I'll be back once we do. I truly love Korean food. In South Korea I wasn't eating meat. But somehow I evened up eating Popeyes. Don't judge me. lol. But all in all the service is always amazing, the ambiance is the same. I believe it is cold in here and there is always a wait so come early. They will always bring your food next door to the cigar lounge if you let them know you're there. We are in Melbourne for family business & decided to try Mangetsu for dinner. We were greeted by a stressed waitress who seemed to be put out by our presence. The ambience was mediocre & floors were very dirty with bits of food. My husband's dinner arrived way after I finished my meal. Because of this, we finished our dinner right at closing time. I noticed other tables were tended to much better. They all had water & were checked more often than ours. I had to make eye contact with our waitress to order water. Overall the food was acceptable but service & cleanliness were subpar. We won't return. read more

I haven't had good Korean BBQ in ages and Mangetsu did not disappoint! I recommend going with friends (or family as we did) and eating family style so you can try lots of dishes. We ordered the Bulgogi Beef to cook at our table and it was so tasty. Check out my photos for all the other dishes we enjoyed. Service was prompt. Was in in town visiting friends and decided to check out the spot for dinner. This place is literally an all in three asian cuisine. They have Thai Japanese and Korean food. The options are endless. The food proportion is huge and fulfilling. The Thai tea is amazingly delicious along with their iced coffee tea! Also, we had dessert the fried Oreos with ice cream. You go Mangetsu, you capitalize on those clueless non-Asian Floridians. You can fool Floridians, but you can't fool me. No COVID safety measures whatsoever (does Florida even know COVID exists?). Some weird looks for wearing masks, but no rabid conspiracy theories thrown our way (the bar is low). We requested to be seated further from the hubbub, which was respected. I recommend parking in the residential side streets to avoid the downtown traffic. Service was fast. PAD SEE EW: Pretty good. Decently caramelized noodles + sweet/savory chicken, with generic "stir fry" veggies (where's the Chinese broccoli?)... I would eat this if I was still in college (see: in a location with limited Asian food options). Not bad at all for a supposed jack of all trades. The food is fine, the servers are flippant youngsters, and the ambiance is decent-- all at a reasonable price. Worth the visit! For the locals, it's a hub of Asian food all in one place. Wait staff is rude and inattentive. Act like they are doing you a favor to seat you, wait on you and bring your food. Act like you cannot read a menu or know what you want to eat. Try to tell you their kitchen will do a better job with the food rather than doing your own cooking at the table grill. I have NO IDEA how they get 4.5 stars and such rave reviews. Delicious place! Korean bbq either cooked by you or the chef. I enjoyed the chef cooking so i could enjoy my meal when it came out. They offered thai food as well. This place gets packed so come early or prepare to wait for good food. Staff was good as well. Definitely a variety of saki. read more
