A single room became available and our family decided to move our aunt. Clearwater was told on a Friday at noon we would move our aunt on Tuesday. When we arrived Tuesday morning to move our aunt, there were no rooms keys for her room. Staff said they would work on getting keys made. Despite checking several times throughout the day for keys, no keys were available. This meant my aunt had to find leave her room unlocked when leaving her room and go find staff to lock her room. I contacted Clearwater the next day, Wednesday, and still no keys had been made. One excuse is that the person who makes/has access to keys was on vacation. (No one person should be in control of all room keys in a senior assisted living and memory care facility.) I went out of town for a couple of days. When I went by Saturday morning, 4 days after my aunt moved to her new room, no keys had been made. When I spoke with staff, I reiterated it was unacceptable. I also told them I would be writing a review and contacting their corporate office. Within an hour, keys were made and the problem was rectified. Clearwater was given four days notice my aunt was moving to a room that had been unoccupied for several days or more. Even after moving, it took four days and my stating I was going to contact their corporate offices to get keys made for her room. Unacceptable.

Major KUDOS to DYLAN, one of the amazing staff members at La Fetra. He was consistently checking the trash cans and making sure they weren't over flowing or beginning to look messy. We really appreciate how helpful he was during the whole event. The gentleman was really easy going and nice to all our guests. Not to mention, he worse his mask the ENTIRE event (set up and clean up) and stayed 6ft away at all times! You rock Dylan! Also, special thanks to SHERYL RYAN was our direct point of contact and she made the planning process easy. It was so stressful planning this even but Sheryl reassured us and answered all our questions about the venue and was very transparent with everything overall. Amenities: *Parking: there are about 5 parking spots right behind the venue (in the back facing the baseball field) that allow easy access from the cars to the venue. For example, if you have to bring decor in or other heavy things you cannot carry a long distance. This side parking made it very convenient to clean up the decorations and load cars with the gifts. Also, there is a small parking lot right across the street, just a few feet away from the center. The parking lot was able to accommodate all cars of the guests and no one really had to park on the street. As someone who dislikes street parking with a passion, this was a major plus! *The bathrooms were clean and spacious. There were plenty of stalls and no one had to wait in line (not even the ladies!) *There is a big wide window that overlooks the baseball field and the scenery is so calming and nice to look at. It makes me miss when I used to live nearby in Azusa. Now, time to convince my mom to let me have my graduation party here!

Although…read moreshe had been exhibiting quirky signs for the past year or so, my family and I chalked it up to normal aging. In the past year her utilities and cable services were being turned off, but it wasn't until I received a call from apartment management that rent had not been paid that I suspected things were not as should be. Shortly after clearing up issue with rent we discovered mom was speaking with magazine issues as if real. I was completely clueless on steps needed to get help for my mom. I started googling agency's related to elder care and placement and contacted Connections Care Home Referral. I spoke with Jason Bloom who patiently listened to me and gave me the most important piece of information that helped me through this journey. Do you have a Power of attorney for mom? Obtaining that document opened the doors I needed to doctors, social worker, and banking. Once doctors became involved, tests were done and mom was officially diagnosed with progressive dementia. The doctors declared mom as not being competent to handle personal or financial affairs and I needed to find a suitable placement for her. Jason once again gave me the great advice on what type of placement mom, needed. I admit at first I was hesitant about a board/care facility I wanted mom to have a placement as close to living independently as possible, so I was leaning more towards Assisted Living facilities. I also was in process of learning about the disease and was ignorant of how much it robs you of the person you love. Jason was on point the progression of my mom's dementia was at stage where traditional Assisted Living would not have worked for her. Jason and I had many discussions over about a 60 day period, and he sent me lots of lists of possible placements and he always checked status of any contacts I may have made. As I went through this process I began to have a better idea of the type of home that I would want for mom. Jason said give him a couple of days to look for me. Within that timeframe Nina contacted me saying Jason referred her to me. After weeks of visiting different homes and facilities I knew within 15 minutes that her place was the board/care I was looking for. I can't express my gratitude to Jason and Connections Care Referrals for helping me through this process. He was able to take into account location and price points to find what my family and I would be comfortable with for mom.

Where will I go after this hospitalization? Think about the anxiety and tension not knowing where I would be going. As an 84 year old senior citizen, this predicament could be considered filled with debilitating uncertainty. The social worker and case manager both offered information and possible dispositions. One of the referrals was to Giselle Placement Help. In fact the workers gave me a tip to start off with Giselle. I called her first and she gave me three referrals one in Lynnwood and two in the San Fernando Valley. One never called back , one said I was not eligible , and the third was to an administrator who arrived at the hospital at 12:30 p.m. . After extensively interviewing myself he spoke with all the nurses and doctors in the unit and then inform me that I would be eligible to come to his facility and showed me pictures of the private room where I would be . He was extraordinarily kind and made sure that every need that I had was going to be met . In addition he actually helped me move some of my belongings . So you can see that this referral took care of enormous uncertainty and perhaps Karma is involved in making such a successful transition .
