Jeff Yang and his family, along with their wonderful and dedicated staff, showed such kindness, patience, and genuine care -- not just to Mom, but to all of us in our big family. We'll always be grateful for the warmth and loving care she received there.

Mom enjoyed talking sports with Jeff and playing bingo with the girls, they always had time to chat with her. Changing medications were easily managed by the staff. I always felt welcome to visit at any time or call the staff with any questions/requests. The home was always neat, clean, and secure. My only regret is that we didn't find Hampton House sooner! There truly is No Place Like Home for Golden Ages…read more Finding a board and care home in Glendale for my father's final weeks was one of the most emotional decisions my family had to make--but choosing No Place Like Home for Golden Ages was one of the best choices we ever made. From the moment we arrived, Emma and her staff treated our entire family with warmth, dignity, and compassion. This small, peaceful home in a quiet neighborhood near Brand Park provided exactly what we needed: high-quality end-of-life care in a setting that treated us like we were family. From the moment we met her, Emma was the epitome of grace and professionalism. She ensured every detail of my father's care was thoughtfully managed--from medication administration to personal grooming and meals. Her kindness made all the difference, especially during a time when we were overwhelmed with emotion and uncertainty. The main caregivers were simply extraordinary. Their kindness, gentle presence, and attentive support to my father (and to us) never wavered. Whether helping with bathing and dressing or patiently serving him his meals, they offered him respect and comfort, and they always attended to our needs. The home itself is warm and inviting--not a sterile or impersonal facility, but a real home where care is deeply personal. They welcomed me, my mother, and my brother every single day. We never once felt like visitors. If you are looking for a board and care for a loved one who needs end-of-life support, I cannot recommend No Place Like Home for Golden Ages highly enough. Emma and her team gave my father the dignified, loving care he deserved, and they helped carry us through one of the most painful times in our lives with compassion and grace. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hard to believe a medical service can be as attentive as a fine dining restaurant, but that is what…read morethis was. We used Five Star for about five days. Medicare and Optum covered the hospice side. I paid separately for 24/7 caregivers through Sincere Care Services, which I chose because I wanted Cantonese and Mandarin speakers so my mother would be more comfortable. Five Star was recommended by the Optum physician on staff. Separately, a family member recommended them too, through a friend whose father had passed the week before. I checked their ratings on Yelp and Google before moving forward, and I am extremely happy with the service we got from start to finish. This is the point where you decide between more hospital intervention, which can be painful, and accepting the situation and moving to hospice. Hospice is the wedding coordinator for a peaceful death. Things can still go wrong even when you plan everything perfectly, but Five Star was there at every step to handle whatever came up. The rough sequence for anyone about to do this: 1. Decide on hospice. 2. Line up caregivers. They are separate from Five Star, but Five Star will point you to good ones. I wanted Chinese-speaking caregivers and Mark made it happen. 3. Coordinate with the hospital on transportation. 4. Be home to receive the supplies. 5. Be home when your loved one arrives. Have a bottle of distilled water ready for the oxygen machine. 6. Have the nurse and the caregiver both there so you can learn the comfort meds. 7. I used 24/7 caregivers on 12-hour shifts. I made a point of being there whenever a new caregiver came on, so I could walk them through the medications and get their phone number. Nurses came once a day to check on my mother since she was close. You do not have to be there the whole time, but I tried to be there for shift changes. One thing I wish I had watched more closely was bowel movements. My mother had been constipated since the hospital because she was not eating. Another tip: put together a playlist of beautiful music to play in the room. Otherwise it is silence, or your loved one is listening to caregivers talk and scroll on their phones. Even when your loved one is not responsive, they are still listening and drifting in and out. Tell them everything will be okay. Thank them for everything they did for you. I think it helps them go peacefully. Anytime I needed something, Mark was a text or a call away and he always answered. Again, they are the wedding coordinators for a loved one's passing, and they will do everything within their power to help you through it.

I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

This review is going to reveal what can be considered an absolute rescue story !…read more Having been hospitalized, the status of my discharge was entirely uncertain. Where will I go after this hospitalization? Think about the anxiety and tension not knowing where I would be going. As an 84 year old senior citizen, this predicament could be considered filled with debilitating uncertainty. The social worker and case manager both offered information and possible dispositions. One of the referrals was to Giselle Placement Help. In fact the workers gave me a tip to start off with Giselle. I called her first and she gave me three referrals one in Lynnwood and two in the San Fernando Valley. One never called back , one said I was not eligible , and the third was to an administrator who arrived at the hospital at 12:30 p.m. . After extensively interviewing myself he spoke with all the nurses and doctors in the unit and then inform me that I would be eligible to come to his facility and showed me pictures of the private room where I would be . He was extraordinarily kind and made sure that every need that I had was going to be met . In addition he actually helped me move some of my belongings . So you can see that this referral took care of enormous uncertainty and perhaps Karma is involved in making such a successful transition .

I was put in a shared room with a lovely lady easily into her 80's . I tried to make the best of my 10 days here however I was treated as if I was an 80 year old patient. I was constantly awoken to have my vital signs taken at all hours of the night, injections that left several bruising on my stomach and medication to make sure I had regular bowel movements, I never took those pills, I would spit them out of my mouth as soon as the nurse walked away and still had regular bowel release. I felt like I was in the movie one flew over the cuckoos nest. Every 3 days was shower day, where they would bring in a chair made out of pvc piping and I would be wheeled into a wall to wall tile shower room. Their was only one soap to wash your hair, face and body. Once you where done, they would drape me with bedsheets to return me to my bed. I haven't even gotten to worse part of my room. We had 1 bathroom that the moment you turned on the light their would be an annoying humming sound, their was no windows in the "restroom" and the lighting was that type that would give me anxiety, that I was required to share by two rooms and 4 people. It was absolutely ridiculous and disgusting to enter and see their urine and crap on the seat. We where provided with wipes to clean ourselves but I primarily used them to clean the toilet seat, their was even a bathroom leak so unfortunately since my legs weren't working so well I would unfortunately step into leaking toilet water. The wipes where often used to clean my feet and luckily I had brought my own sanitizer and would clean my feet, I would request socks and would get a pair a day later, apparently their was a shortage of socks for us patients. I once held my bladder for 20 minutes waiting for some woman in the other room to get out of the restroom as I heard her go through her repeated ocd routine. I hardly ever pushed the assistant button but I was about to urinate on myself so I pushed for the help button to ask where else I could use a restroom and no one came to my aid. I finally had to be "that person " and started banging on the door for her to get out!! I did try to find some positive things from the facility and I convinced myself that the highlight of my bed by the window was a treat until it rained and our room was completely flooded with rain water, so their I was with my sweet little old lady roommate awoken at 3am to have the room wet vacuumed. And finally the final straw, the day before I was meant to be released I by chance had a fever, and since the was at the brink of the beginning of the CoronaV they panicked. They quickly removed my sweet little friend out of her bed against her will, made the room a quarantine room. I was inserted with a catheter and a IV. I had previously had an appointment outside the facility and they started to blame my nephew for giving me CoronaV. I was F this crap, I got in a verbal argument with the main facility social worker who looked for anyone to blame for me bringing this virus in. As they awaited for an ambulance to take me to Kaiser hospital to be admitted, I could hear the nurses outside saying I don't want to go in her room, please come get me in 5 minutes for any excuse. I packed all my belongings so my husband could pick them up since I knew I wasn't returning myself. Once I was admitted to the CoronaV section of Kaiser hospital, the cause of my high fever was all due to a bladder infection and I was completely negative of CoronaV. I was livid I had to spend another five days away from my son and husband completely isolated, by this point I had been in health facilities for a month and just desperately wanted to go home and start healing even more so from my spinal cord surgery. I won't even get into the "food" I hardly ate. I basically lived off a coffee a day and whatever pastry I got. The only one positive thing I could say was the CNA's seemed to be the only ones who cared for the needs of the patients. I wouldn't wish any family to put their loved ones into this hell hole.
