I am not vegan, but I love donuts. Most vegan baked goods taste very different from the original version or slightly different. I came here to buy donuts as a birthday gift treat. This donut shop is oddly located in an alley, but there are signs to direct people to the order window. The staff was courteous and helpful with placing my order. After a few minutes wait my order was up. These donuts are pricey albeit the sizes were large. Everything I ordered was enjoyable with my favorite being the cinnamon bun. ALL VEGANS and non vegans should come here to try out some great treats! You won't be disappointed. read more

We ordered donut for New Years and loved eagerly flavor-- we always do donuts and champagne! I especially enjoy that these are vegan since I have an egg allergy. The blueberry pancake and Apple fritter are all time favorites. We forgot to order a full half dozen so they saved us a favorite to make sure we didn't miss out on our full order. Stopped here to grab a dozen before work. Totally lucked up on a Friday the 13th special: buy 12 get the 13th free. Let me just say that the level of freshness was ON POINT!!! I had the pumpkin spice and went half on the lavender vanilla. DEEEEEELICIOUS!!! This hidden gem is in an alley on Armitage just off Halsted. Just look for the signs on the curb. They also offer other goodies like juice, coffee, smoothies, wellness shots and empanadas. Definitely a must try!! read more

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.!!!! My life was forever changed when i went to my first wicker park farmers market March of the 2020 and i stumbled across Beacon Doughnuts. I walked up to the booth and looked at the glorious selection they had to offer me and the other customers that morning (it was so hard to choose)! I ended up going with the doughnut "Birthday Cake" all it was missing was the a candle! After payment, I didn't waste anytime, I took my first bite AND my mouth was as pleased as punch! I have been a repeat customer of Beacon Doughnuts and so over the moon for this small business! They are kicking ass and making THE BEST vegan doughnuts out there! It is definitely worth the drive no matter where you live! What can you compare these doughnuts to you ask? Waking up Christmas morning as a kid and seeing everything that Santa left that you had asked for. Having a bouncy castle for your birthday party. Getting a birthday card from your Grandma Susan with a $20 bill inside. Going to gym class as a kid and finding out its "Parachute day." read more

Best of the best of the best donuts in town. Hands down. Didnt realize they are vegan but thats another plus. Would prefer plant based sweets than others. The taste and quality of these donuts are pretty excellent. My hubby is not a huge fan of donut and in fact quite picky but he loved them as well. Our favorite was birthday cake and carrot cake. Did not try the apple cider and glazed yet but I am sure they will be great! go check it out and you wont regret! read more

HO-LEY MOLEY. These are some of the best doughnuts that I've ever had, and I'm not even vegan. I marked this place as a must-try because my husband is allergic to dairy and he loves when he finds doughnuts he can actually eat. We didn't preorder because I didn't tell him we were coming (tee heee) and I wanted him to be able to choose which ones he wanted. We came around noon on a Saturday and luckily they still had a good selection. I didn't realize it was a walk-up window which is actually really awesome with our current situation. Line wasn't too bad either. These doughnuts were so good though. Not dry like I've found other vegan doughnuts to be. Very flavorful and such a great assortment to choose from! The birthday cake and caramel apple were our favorites. I love that they're all vegan too so we don't have to worry about cross-contamination. We will most certainly be back again! read more

Hands down best vegan donuts I've ever had, possibly the best donuts in general. So good and so many options. I got a half dozen and loved all of them. The cinnamon sugar was my favorite, with birthday cake and Boston cream tied for second. I've never had vegan donuts like this, so fluffy and the frosting is so creamy! We had to wait in a line for about 20 minutes but it was well worth the wait. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

THE BEST DONUTS (vegan or not vegan) I HAVE EVER HAD!!! - Arrived at 9:30 on a Saturday. Didn't preorder but was totally fine when we arrived. They had all the donuts still and there was no line. We ordered right away. - Very safe covid-wise since it is outside and everyone is wearing masks, gloves, etc. - I got the chocolate brioche donut and it was AMAZING. For some reason, vegan donuts tend to be cake donuts so I hadn't had a glazed donut since before going dairy-free. This was very fluffy, light, and perfect. A classic chocolate glazed. - Others tried the lavender vanilla, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate sea salt. All amazing. The chocolate glazed (mine) was definitely the largest... cinnamon sugar and chocolate sea salt were a bit small for donuts. But everyone LOVED their donuts. Light, fluffy, fresh, not overly decadent. I cannot wait to go back!! Thinking I'll try the plain glazed next time. They have so many cool flavors but I am more of a classic donut eater so I tend not to stray too far from normal ones. Oh and P.S. Beacon donuts are WAY better than Firecakes or Dorite vegan ones. read more

We literally stumbled on this place over the weekend and I'm so glad we did! It's hidden away in an alley right off Armitage, and especially during the Chicago winter it's such a welcome source of fun. Their doughnuts are vegan BUT for everyone with nut allergies like me, they're all also nut free. these are the best donuts i have ever had. period. my fiancé and i got a box of a dozen to share, and i just couldn't wait so i ate two on the way home. well worth the price and drive- will not hesitate to order again once we get through these!! i highly recommend this spot, it is a tad bit hard to find. it is in the little alley way by the clothing store. look for the beautiful artwork! the chocolate donuts melt in your mouth, the icing is crisp (just how it should be) and the flavors of the donuts you've definitely never tried before anywhere else- out of this world. my fiancé and i will be back once we get out of our donut-coma! i hope one day that all the donuts will be vegan, with the donuts being this good- there's basically no need to have the nonvegan options! read more

Pleasantly surprised how delicious ALL of the donuts we had were! I love trying different places out and I have no regrets getting half a dozen for my boyfriend and me lol. The donuts were great, but I've had better in Chicago. I'd rate the donuts 4 stars but the wait time 2 stars. We waited for 30 minutes with only 6 people ahead of us. My main grudge on this night was the pour of sparkling wine (brut). Champagne flutes are typically six ounces. A standard pour of wine is five ounces. That means a pour of sparkling wine should stop about 1 inch from the rim of the glass*. Not so this time. I thought the bartender had emptied the bottle and was going to continue his pour with a new bottle, but no - that was not the case (I was seated at the bar.) I had gotten only about 3 out of 5 ounces of a $16 glass of wine. Not cool since every patron is charged an automatic 20% hospitality surcharge per check. (It looked more like a pour for a toast at a wedding!) I got a beer, Maplewood IPA, and vegan nachos with "beef". They were very wet, they also had mixed greens on top which were nice but weird. For my main meal I got a fried chicken sandwich which had tempeh as the protein. It was very thick and dense but tasty. It came with French fries. My partner got a sour beer, and a chicken parm sandwich with French fries. He reported his was also very thick / dense.
