I took her advice and tried out the prescription for a few days. They had already processed my order under the new prescription, I came back and told the doctor that it was giving me headaches and wasn't working, she then made an excuse saying oh that was your old prescription. I asked why she was telling me to try my old prescription with these contacts she gave me. I took the contacts that they gave me open them and after two sets neither of them right eye or left eye fit correctly. I reached out and told them I would be going to a different optometrist, but that I wanted to return my contacts. They told me because I opened the boxes that they gave me that were incorrect. They could only return the unopened boxes, but that they could exchange them with Cooper vision but we're still going to be unable to provide me a return their representative. Vanessa was extremely argumentative on the phone and told me that they stand behind their customers but that because I wanted to go somewhere else, there was nothing they could do for me. Told them I'd never come back and I'm going to dispute their charges to VSP and to my credit card. Her excuse was they would take a loss on their error so there was nothing they could do for me. Plenty of better options in the area! Update, went to a lens crafters and got a different prescription with a different axis and cylinder and no headaches or issues.

When I went in for a consult, I was unfortunately not a good candidate for LASIK. Dr. Feinerman suggested another procedure called EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) that I was a good fit for. Despite the higher cost compared to LASIK, I was totally on board. I scheduled my surgery appointment afterwards and I was given instructions on how to prepare for the procedure (I had to put eye drops in beforehand). The surgery center Dr. Feinerman used was in Tustin (Barranca Surgery Center). I had a very early appointment and I didn't have to wait too long. The procedure took what felt like 10 minutes, but could have been way longer (the anesthesia worked like a charm!). I had my sister drive me home, there is no way you should try to drive yourself home after getting this done!! Immediately after the surgery, my vision had a noticeable improvement, with sensitivity to light. Over the next 3 months, my vision stabilized and I don't have dry eyes as often anymore. Dr. Feinerman and his entire team were a pleasure to interact with. Totally recommend this place!!

I went in on 3/2/26 prepared to invest in a full new setup including Kate Spade frames with progressive transition lenses, but I walked away 400 dollars out of pocket with glasses that are completely unusable. ​My primary need is seeing my computer screen, but when I sit down everything is blurry. Instead of addressing the lens issue, the staff tried to "rig" the frames by adding double nose pads and bending the ear pieces so tightly they dug into my head to force the glasses higher. When I returned after my first pair was finished on 3/16, a different staff member admitted the lenses were made incorrectly, yet they repeatedly mentioned a one-time fee for the correction as if the error was my fault. ​Between the initial fitting and the follow-ups, I spoke directly with four different staff members on the sales and fitting side. I received a second set of lenses on 3/25, but they were just as blurry. Trying to find the "sweet spot" in the prescription caused so much eye strain that I was in tears by 10 AM the next day. When I finally asked for a refund, they refused and even told my insurance company no. I am now out 400 dollars, I still do not have functional glasses, and I was never even given a copy of my prescription. ​I have officially filed a formal complaint with the California State Board of Optometry regarding the refusal to refund for a non-functional medical device. I am also reporting the office for violating the FTC Eyeglass Rule, as I was never provided a copy of my prescription after my exam. While the energy in the office is positive, the policies regarding defective products and the lack of empathy for inaccurate results is unsettling. If your prescription doesn't work out the first time, be prepared for a very difficult and expensive struggle.

I wouldn't have known if I didn't insist on asking my daughter if she could see properly after trying on the new glasses. Even though they admitted being wrong they seemed to point the finger at me even though it was their fault. I had to insist on them admitting their mistake so it wouldn't happen to someone else, but they decided to no longer take my daughter as a patient. When I asked for refund, they then changed their mind and said we will allow you to come back for one year while I had warranty and they would no longer want her back. Unless your famous or important, they don't seem to care about their customers. Being a longtime loyal customer doesn't mean anything here. Also, my son who was eight-year-old at the time also had an issue with an incorrect eyeglass lenses order that I didn't know till a year later! I've ordered polarized lenses so my son can comfortably wear his glasses in the sun, but Surf City Optometry charged me for polarized lenses without even adding it to my son's eyeglasses. I'm afraid this wasn't the only time they messed up. When I found out a year later, there was no apology or refund provided. I had to tell them about several times for just a reimbursement since they refused to apologize for any of their mistakes. I bring this up in case anyone goes there to double check what they order since they do mess up. Again, being a longtime loyal customer doesn't mean anything here. I have all the paperwork and evidence. This place is a hit and miss. Like I said I was a longtime customer before these issues came up but once they do don't expect them to care.

Luckily, I found Sunset Optometry through my insurance and was able to book a much needed appointment quickly. Melina, who handled my pre-testing before I met with Dr. Nguyen, was incredibly patient and understanding. She took the time to explain each test and what it was for, which really helped me feel more comfortable. When I met with Dr. Nguyen, she immediately put me at ease. She was thorough and thoughtful while perfecting my prescription, carefully walking me through each option and giving me time when I felt unsure. She also explained my astigmatism in a way that was easy to understand. I had no idea I even had astigmatism before! On top of that, she was able to identify the cause of my eye irritation and recommended eye drops that have been extremely helpful. After my exam, I went back out to choose a pair of glasses, and Melina jumped right in to help again. She spent a good amount of time walking me through different frames, explaining how things like weight and nose pads can make a big difference in comfort. To top it all off, she actually picked out the pair I ended up loving and chose to get! I'm so excited to get my new glasses and incredibly grateful to both Dr. Nguyen and Melina for making the entire experience so comfortable and positive.
