We were also seeking solace from the heat and the humidity, it was a really really warm day in October. I ended up choosing a chocolate babka and ordered an iced matcha latte with lavender. I wish they had more seats inside because I was dreading having to go back outside to sit, drink and eat my food. Service was fast and friendly, my matcha came out so quickly, my matcha came out perfect exactly what I wanted. I basically chugged it down, it gave me the right amount of energy and kept me cool while we walked to get a streetcar back to our hotel. My husband said that the babka was really good, he ate most of it and he said it was really tender and that it was pretty flavorful.

We got there at 10:45 AM on a Monday and there was a random wave of people in line. However, it…read moredied down after that. I loved the Kaya button. Delicious coconut flavor! I had a bite of my husband's chocolate Babka and it was pretty good too. I also got the egg salad sandwich to go and ate it for lunch while wandering the French Quarter. The croissant was flaky, the slices of cucumber and tomato were fresh. My only complaint was that there was diced red onion in the egg salad with which gave it an overwhelmingly pungent onion flavor. Other than that, it was good. The kaya buns alone would bring me back! Oh and the service was good; they were slammed but very patient.

This family-owned business has been a New Orleans institution since 1905. In fact, its name is…read morestill imprinted in the sidewalk tiles of its former location at 617 Ursulines. The establishment began as an ice cream parlor selling handmade gelato but has since expanded to include pastries, desserts, espresso, cappuccinos, & lattes. The shop embodies the old-world charm of Sicily, and everything is authentically produced in small batches from high-quality local ingredients. The first gelato flavor that founder Angelo Brocato first produced & sold was Torroncino - a vanilla-based gelato with cinnamon & ground almonds. It's still served in their shop today. Locals love their handmade gelato, Italian ices, & desserts - as do I. My favs are the cannoli and signature Italian pastries. I'm also a big fan of the Spumoni, which is served in slices (as it should be). Sadly, Angelo Brocato III passed on July 22nd at the age of 85. His burial was private but the locals gathered for a big celebration to honor his life and the joy he brought to them over the years.

The coffee was good, and the banana nut muffin tasted fresh and was a nice quick breakfast before heading to my gate. Nothing particularly outstanding, but everything was good and did the job. There was also a $0.27 credit-card surcharge, and with tax and tip my total came to $9.97. Overall, a decent airport option for a quick coffee and something to eat.
