After a long day of travelling down from New York City, my boyfriend and I had trouble finding restaurants opened late and so we stumbled upon Be-One Korean BBQ. We walked in and were greeted by a kind staff and were quickly seated. Since it was already close to midnight, the crowd was minimal. We ordered marinated chicken and bulgogi for bbq. The amount of banchan that came with our meal was a surprisingly large amount! The meats were quite delicious and affordable. Being New Yorkers, we are accustomed to our Korean food being on the more expensive side so the prices at Be-One Korean BBQ were a pleasant surprise. Overall, the food was up to par and the staff was kind to us. If I'm ever in town again, I'd definitely come back to this place. read more

I went to Be One BBQ for many times in the past years. I love the place because of good service and tasty food, which are also the reasons that I recommend to lots of my friends. However, what happened on August 2nd, 2017 would drive me away from there. I went Be One with my relatives that day and we ordered four mains and a pancake. When we finished the meal and asked for the check, the waitress gave me a bill of $95 and told me that they did not accept visa card. Since I was not been informed of this information when I went in the restaurant that day, neither did I saw any signs about this, I told her that I'd been here for many times and use both visa debit and credit cards before. The waitress insisted to accept cash only and asked me to go to ATM if I didn't have cash with me. In order to go back to have a rest as quickly as possible for my relatives, I gave her cash with face value of $100. When she came back with the changes, it came with only changes around $6 and without receipt for me to give tips. The waitress also seemed to forget the tip thing. But with each dish valued around $10, it is apparent that our bill is no more than $60. I asked to look at the original receipt at the desk where their computer located. She then told me that she made mistakes about the bill, gave me the rest of the changes and asked for tips. At first, I didn't consider much about this because I trusted the restaurant and I was the one that often went there. But when I thought back, it is ridiculous for the waitress to forget the receipt and tip at first and asked after. It is the basic checkout process for her that has been repeated thousands of times. I can't understand someone gave me the wrong receipt and just forget tip and receipt accidently. Since two of my relatives do not understand English, which could be noticed when we ordered, it might look easy to bully us. Under this kind of service and ethics in catering industry, I will definitely not go Be One BBQ anymore. read more

Go for Korean barbecue! If you have your own table, you get to cook it yourself! (Otherwise it's done in the kitchen) Very delicious and a fun experience. Stay away from the seafood soup: not as pleasant and it's not all fish balls: you'll be surprised with the occasional piece of octopus tentacle. This place is popular and packed especially during weekend evenings. Korean friends enjoy this food as well, which testifies to its authenticity. read more

I have been to this place multiple times with friends. It has become one of our favorite place to eat and hangout in Baltimore city. It is easy to park and the foods are not bad. Various kinds of food to choose from (I like their side dishes a lot) depend on what you feel like on the day. My friends are obsessed their fried chicken and always want to go back with beers. Service is nice and friendly and the little button on the side of the wall is convenient when you want to call the server in the middle of the meal. read more

My favorite Korean food in Baltimore. The BBQ is solid, but the kitchen- made dishes are where they really rise above their competition. Their soups are all delicious, especially the galbi-tang. Nice array of banchan that changes with every visit. Pretty good jajangmyeon, too. read more

I am a Korean food expert in the Baltimore area as I have been going to 22nd and Maryland since I started college in 2001. The staples back then used to be Joung Kak and Nam Kang. Since coming back to Baltimore this year, I haven't gone back, but I definitely will. On a friend's suggestion I tried Be-One, the new kid on the block. The prices are decent for lunch and honestly the flavor isn't bad, but the service is lacking a little. I ordered the yook gae jang (spicy beef soup) and there was more scallion than there was soup or beef. Honestly the scallions were cooked decenty so it didn't taste that bad. Would definitely appreciate a dish with more meat though. The side dishes were different and they were pretty solid. Next time it's time to try the BBQ! read more

I have only been to this korean Bbq once or twice but their bulgolgi was amazing. It melts in your mouth and it was a decent price. I believe around 15 bucks? The only thing I was upset about was that they didn't have Japchae sides when I visited. I went to this spot because my friend told me that they had amazing bulgolgi and basically unlimited japchae as a side dish. Bulgolgi and japchae are my go to korean entrees so I was excited check it out but just my luck, when I went they didn't have japchae apparently (that day) which was upsetting. I have called ahead of time a few times after actually going for them to keep telling me they don't have japchae but then my friend went again not too long ago and she said she got japchae so I am personally confused. If they were more consistent with having japchae I would be a regular customer. read more

Love their cheese tteokbokki and kimchi pancakes!! Portions are very generous and good value for the money, at least for the dishes. Service is good, but beware that BeOne closes early on the weekdays, I think @ 10 pm (?), so don't show up too late / close to the closing time. read more

(5/10/2016) Our usual go to for KBBQ in Baltimore proper is Joung Kak across Maryland Ave. Have heard about Be-One as a less crowded and slightly cheaper alternative. We went for a late weeknight dinner, there were only 2 other tables there. Service was very efficient and very friendly, some slight language issues. We ordered a large Seafood Pajun, and Bulgogi, Brisket, and Spicy Sliced Pork for the grill. Pajun was very thick and crusty, chock full of scallions and squid, tasty but not exactly light and tender. One of our diners didn't like the sliced brisket, too fatty, chewy, and grisly for him. Marinated meats were very tender and flavorful, doesn't quite get charred or crusty like when over a charcoal grill, but they do stay juicy. We had plenty of banchan, touch spicier and with more kick than at the few other places in Baltimore's K-Town, and I thought more interesting, like traditional pickled garlic scapes, Chinese celery, perilla leaf. Tiny plates were whisked away and refilled when empty, unbidden, and ice water was refilled promptly. We were full and well taken care of by the time we left. Def the prices were reasonable and I do appreciate the convenient access and parking, it's in the Midtown Marketplace between Howard and Maryland. Went with my gal for dinner this evening. Generally speaking, the food was close to four stars. The free appetizers (banchan) were mostly quite good and plentiful, of course! The seafood pa jun was very tasty, though I was suspicious that one of the ingredients may have been that dreaded faux seafood known as "crab stick." Blech! For our mains I had the spicy deep fried chicken dish somewhat akin to General Tso's chicken, and m'lady had a soup called doenjang jjigae. Mine was sweeter and with a different but good spice kick than Gen'l Tso's, and was plentiful but came with nothing else. Like many selections at Korean restaurants, it's likely intended to be shared. Her soup, which is soy bean paste-based, with tofu, zucchini and seafood, was just okay in my partner's opinion, an she was none too pleased with the lukewarm rice that accompanied it. The most disappointing part was the relatively poor service, which just seemed disorganized and inconsistent. At times they were quick and responsive, and at others largely absent or forgetful. The prices are fair, and the quantities rather large. Had the service been better, my rating would have been a four instead of three. read more

let me say, I usually don't expect nice service in K-restaurant. but, the service in Bi-one tonight was (literally) horrible and made me so angry. From the beginning, it was slow-I was fine. We asked water refill many times, waitress was saying, 'I remember that u asked water, but I am very busy, you need to wait', but she never did for us-I was still fine. she cook Samgyupsal for us, and made us to eat burnt Samgyupsal - and I still understood she was busy. (indeed she was very busy, I saw only her serving all the tables in there). Obviously, I didn't want to give her a big tip, so I only left $1 for her. she came over to our table, and asked who left $1 in loudly and fussy (we were 5 people). so I said, 'I did and I wasn't happy with your service, so I don't want to leave more tip'. She was angry, almost shout out to me, I asked her not to and we can talk about it later btw us (because we were in middle of conversation), she kept bullying me more than 5 mins, and say never to come back. I asked her manager's contact, she refused to give me. yes, it was the worst of the worst experience in my entire life. *if manager read this, I am willing to talk with you about this. read more

Had yummy Korean lunch!! Korean food is, well, not something I have frequently- and it's quite unique. I ate things I'm not sure what they were...I think some of the may have tried to eat me back, but I just chewed harder......But it was all tasty!! (Except the bori cha tea. Had no idea what bori cha tea was, but it was recommened. It's roasted barely tea, I later researched, good for your health-- too bad it tastes like someone dumped greasy toasted seseame oil in water..bleccchhhh......). My wifey-poo had a cool special - a small, whole grilled fish, with a small bowl of seafood stew and rice. I had a big-@ss bowl of the stew, with rice. Comes with all those neat little pickled veggie bowls as appetizers- some of which I recognized, like bean sprouts and marinated tofo, others I'm not sure the veggies were from this planet..but they were tasty! Best thing was a lumpy cucumber covered in a sweet, spicy chili sauce- the heat, sweetness, and cooling of the cuke worked perfectly- could have made a meal of just that!! My stew was piping hot, full of soft tofu, green onions, a miso-y chili-spiked broth (slow burn- not bad, and built in a pleasant way), and all sorts of odd bits of sea critters. Only downside- stew was served HOT- the seafood was tender at first, but as I kept eating the heat from the stew kept cooking, and slowly turned the seafood into rubber. The seafood was mostly clams and bits of what I suspect was octopus. My wife's fishy was tender, flaky, and moist. Served whole, in case you like to suck fish eyeballs. Good stuff!! Her stew was basically the same. Rice was nice, sticky, with a good, sweet-nutty flavor. All that- for 20 bucks. Service was friendly. A tad slow- but it worked. Place was not too crowded- we were the only non-Korean customers, so that seemed like a good sign! We will be back. Mmm..... maybe try the barbecue. wow... the haemul pajeon is out of this world delicious. beware, it's not what you expect a normal jeon to look like, all flat and floppy with a hint of crunchy edge. Be-One makes a gloriously crunchy jeon that is packed with so much flavor and happiness idk if i'll ever be able to look at any other jeon the same way ever again. Oh, i also had the soondubu jjigae and that was pretty good, very standard... except nobody asked/offered me an egg =( banchan was pretty good. my favorite were the garlic stems, but the side dishes you get would probably vary seasonally? service was pretty standard for an asian restaurant, some confusion over which server was in charge of our table led to some awkward questions about how tip would be paid... but i guess it worked out in the end read more

Probably the only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 is the location and slight language difficulties. But they were great sports and worked with us. We got the at the table BBQ (with all the goodies) for lunch. Ordered three and unbeknownst to us, we got a fourth free. Food was delish. Service was personable and successful. Everything tastes like it was cooked in one giant pot. Why? Why does everything taste like what I can only describe as 'rubber fish?' The worst part is service. There isn't any! It's comical. You need to ask for everything at least three times. I'm not talking special requests or anything, just stuff like oh, I don't know, water and menus??? Great Korean BBQ here. It's very close to the real deal of korean meat restaurants straight from Korea. They have a button on/near the tables to press if you need the waiters attention. But they were so attentive that I never had to use it. My water was filled when low and I didn't even notice. It was amazing service and very nice staff. Dukboki here is delicious! I don't know what else to say, I am very disappointed. I brought my family here because my husband and I love this place. It was very busy, but the owner sat us at a table right away. We then waited and waited and waited. We had to ask for menus. The server was very confused and we didn't see our menus for at least 10 minutes. Then we didn't see our sever again. A truly bizarre experience. We ultimately decided to leave--and when we got up to put on our coats, no one noticed. Be One what happened tonight? You really let us down. read more

We went to Be One as a group and explicitly ordered 3 sets of meat and asked it to be split across 4 tables - instead they brought out 4 sets and didn't say anything until it was time to pay. It was an extra $100 so we were annoyed because we hadn't ordered it, but we did eat it so we paid. We decided that we just wouldn't tip the 20% on the meat we didn't order. We never received a customer copy of the check and didn't think anything of it, but upon checking the credit card statement, we saw that they charged us the amount we signed for, but added an unsolicited $23 charge two days later. Because we never received a customer copy of the receipt we couldn't contest it, and I think this was intentional. Definitely won't be coming back here and definitely will be warning all of our friends about the shady business practices. read more

We a group of nine had our dinner there, the experience was awful. They served us some dish that we didn't order, the waitress said you can eat it for free if you want, then we just started to eat. But 10 minutes later someone senior came and told us we had to pay. Her tone was so harsh that we accepted to pay. The worse was, they started to ignore us for additional service, we had to go to the kitchen ourselves for water. And everything we asked took forever to come. We picked this Korean BBQ out of others in town because it was in a plaza and parking was easy. But it turned out to be a mistake. We would never go back. read more

I've been here 4 times and each time I leave I say I'm never coming back. Hopefully, by finally writing this one-star review, I will stop punishing myself. I'm an unfortunate fan of shabu shabu (hot pot) and this restaurant is the closest near me that serves it. Still, the close proximity does not make up for the bllllllllaaaaaaaaand broth and slow service. I've learned not to drink my water too fast because there's no way to tell when I may get the attention of the wait staff again, even if I press the call button. Today's server was a bit friendlier than most but she lost all cool points when she audibly gasped and commented that she was surprised I knew how to use chopsticks. Really.
