I'm surprised on the mediocre reviews of this place. The wife and I were in town and cruising up the strip dying for a burger. Be-Bops caught our eye. The place was packed, so we decided to get the food to take back to our hotel. We order two Be-Bop burgers, onion rings and a strawberry shake. The wait was well over 20 minutes and we were starving. The burger was delicious. As good and tasty as any burger out there, that's how much we enjoyed it. Tasty Be-bop sauce complimented the O-rings which were skimpy on the portions, but very good. Solid strawberry shake rounded out a good meal. I'd come back if in the area, which may be a year or two. read more

While this place won't win any awards for the food is a great kitschy 50s style diner complete with checkerboard floors, working stop lights and the doors, 50s music playing, and 50s style red and white naugahyde glitter vinyl booths with great boomerang atomic age pattern on the tables. The servers are young, friendly and one was dressed in a poodle skirt. Their burgers come in S, M, and L. Which simply means 1, 2, or 3 1/4 patties. They also come with cute names like the Peggy Sue, James Dean, etc. You have your choice of mayo, garlic mayo, or Bop sauce (just their take on a thousand island). My Peggy Sue was a bacon cheeseburger. Pretty good, meat could use a little salt and pepper before cooking, but patties were juicy even though cooked to well done. Fries were crispy on the outside. The bf had a pastrami dog. The pastrami was cut into small pieces making it easier to eat on the dog, and while not the best pastrami ever, it did have a nice taste. He was in heaven as those are his 2 bad for you food favorites. I would defiinitely come back for the food, ambiance, and service. I am a sucker for 50s kitsch. read more

Sadly, the Be-Bops that used to be is no more. Though many of the menu items are the same, the food has no talent cooking it. The masterful garlic cheese fries? avoid them, they are pathetic now, you could do better with Velveeta and chopped garlic from a jar. I wish the old owners came back to rescue this business, but I dont see that happening. This epic failure seems to be a repeating theme in Ukiah, more business startups need to spend more time on community research and be a heck of a lot more picky on who they let cook the food! read more

I live in San Francisco. When I drive to Humboldt County, Be-Bops is my go-to place for a halfway rest and a meal. I like them just fine. The food's great (keeping in mind here that this is a burger joint, not Gary Danko) and the service is good. They have a good menu selection and a clean bathroom. Yay, Be-Bops. A themed burger diner...We stopped by while driving through town. Was not disappointed, burgers were a ok. The AC was cranked too high on a cold night so it was hard to ease into dinner while sitting stiff inside a booth (we eventually asked if they could lower it as we noticed others complaining). Serve can be improved. I asked for a side of mayo twice and finally gave up. The place was not packed but it might be worth considering to have more than 1 person waiting on all the tables. They make KILLER milkshakes. My favorite is the peanut butter and vanilla. I absolutely love this place. Their fries are pretty bangin', as well. Went to Ukiah today to escape the madness in Santa Rosa. Figured it was a safe bet that we'd find an obscure restaurant for lunch. Never heard of Be-Bops Diner, but it was so cute from the outside that we chose to eat here instead of the restaurant we picked near the Courthouse. Once we were greeted, we could sit anywhere we wanted. The server, dressed in 50's style with a 2012 edge, asked for our drink order and then let us look over the menu. The decor was kitschy and really reminded us of an old fashioned 50's Diner. The first thing my husband said was "Where are the rollerskates?" I thought that the food was, for the most part, good. I had the Sea Cruise sandwich (hot and delicious) and my husband had the Elvis Burger (medium size). Both were served fairly quickly and I had a side of fries with mine, which (if I have to be honest) were not very good. They were almost cold by the time I got them. Not sure if they sat for awhile or if it was because I was sitting underneath the A/C vent that was blasting cold air on me. At least we know that the restaurant will be nice and cool when it gets really hot outside! They refilled my lemonade and didn't charge for it. It looks like that is a standard policy because I saw that happening at almost all of the tables. My husband had a chocolate shake which looked thick and creamy. Overall I was satisfied with our visit and would probably stop by again if I was ever back in the area. The only bad part was the beggar outside the restaurant as we left. My husband and I decided to stay the night in Ukiah after a long day of driving. We stayed at the Motel 6 and decided to eat next door at Be Bops Diner! BEST DECISION EVER! The burgers were delicious....the onion rings were crispy and the shakes were to die for! When we walked in we were pleasantly greeted by a lovely young woman. We walked around the counter and was met by an equally nice man. They said we could be seated anywhere....we decided to eat at the bar. We chatted with them....they asked where we were from...we told them we are from the Palm Springs area and we are on our anniversary trip. After about 20min or so ouur food arrived. The husband had the daddio and I had the elvis....so very tasty. Whenever we find ourselved in Ukaih again.....we will have to come in !! read more

I had a craving for a burger, and we saw a sign at Bebops for a $5.95 meal deal, so we decided to eat here tonight. The meal deal gets you a small Elvis Burger (burger, w/ lettuce, onion, and tomato or Boop Burger if you are a vegetarian), fries, and a fountain drink. The Elvis Burger was delicious and the meat had a great peppery taste to it. I had mine with cheese and the look of it all reminded me of a cheeseburger from In-and-Out, but the taste was better. The fries were far better than any fast-food joint, but weren't amazing. The fountain drink I ordered was a Cherry Cream Soda which is coke with vanilla and cherry flavoring added to it. It was much better than anything you could buy in a bottle anywhere. I also ordered a banana milkshake and while the restaurant was not full, everyone was ordering milkshakes and they had to have an employee work the shake machine just to keep up with the orders. The milkshake was good, and I could taste the fresh bananas in it (and occasionally got a little chunk of it up the straw). The next time I get another burger craving I will again pay a visit to BeBops! I see no reason this joint should have fewer than 5 stars. read more

There is dine in service. Being one of the only places open in Ukiah on Sunday to eat, we did not have many options unfortunately. As soon as we walked through the door, we were not greeted and we seated ourselves. We got our own menus, and waited... and waited... finally, we got up because we thought it was a place where you order by yourself but as we went up, it was the first time a human had talked to us since we arrived. She said, "No no, I come to you". We sat down and she took our order. Other than taking quite a while for two basic burgers, I asked specifically for mine medium rare. When we got our burgers back, the "Bop sauce" was nothing more than thousand island dressing, but somehow they even botched that. My burger was grey and absolutely dry, I much rather would have eaten a cinder block. I would avoid this "diner" at all costs and would prefer to go hungry like Gandhi used to. My review here is tainted say tainted because as my fiance and I sat outside at the diner we realized that there was a dead bird laying on the ground a few tables back. Eventually one of the staff came and swept it up and threw it away but it wasn't the best start to the day. Menu is interesting - almost entire menu is named after a celebrity. I ordered their Elvis burger -nothing stood out, it was your classic burger - lettuce, tomato, onion and bop sauce (bop sauce made no difference). On the menu they list Shake and Fries, no I did not ordered, although I was tempted to order. I asked the waitress about this item and she mentioned it was a side of fries and whatever flavored ice cream for your dip. Is that it!! I can do that by ordering a shake and dipping my fries all without paying more...Yeah I think Ill skip this! Near the register they had pictures of people that tried the Belly Buster Challenge - I think they initially started the challenge with 9 patties and are now at 12 or 13. BeBop's is...okay. It's decent food, at decent prices, with decent service. Definitely not my first choice for lunch in Ukiah, but of the three times I have been there, I have really enjoyed my food twice. The first time I made the mistake of ordering the "garlic cheese fries", which are advertised as fries covered in cheddar cheese and garlic. I guess I had something a little different in mind when the Velveeta smothered fries with garlic salt arrived at the table. Of course the whole fifties theme is a little over done in general, but in Ukiah, it makes for something atmospherically different. You had better like the music, and you had better have a good set of pipes to be able to talk over the music. Do not go here for a quiet conversation. read more

when this place first opened, they were GREAT!! they had friendly helpful staff, they had prompt fast service, and they even had servers dance to the Twist every hour on the hour!! VERY COOL & Unique ideas & place! Now, not so much.. like w MOST Restaurants in Ukiah, they start out great and end up declining over the years (months in some cases) and pretty soon they're a sad shadow of their original vision!! the service now is slow and unfriendly, our guy was cool actually, but the host was unfriendly and the kitchen slow. Don't even get me started on whatever's goin on w their ACTUAL burger patties..! My Double had a reg sized patty and what looked like a 1/2 sized hockey puck patty! Went here today for burgers, shirley temples followed by a banana split for my son's Birthday. Everything was delicious. The burgers were perfectly seared on the outside and juicy inside. I got the buffalo wings last night and first off I would like to say thank you for having large size wings! They make the local Wingstop wings look like bones. For the life of me I can't understand why anyone would give BeBops less than at least 4 stars. My wife and I fly our own small aircraft up to Ukiah from the SF Bay Area just to eat at BeBop's, since it's right across from the Ukiah airport, and it's one of our favorite places in all of California to fly into. Why? Well, first, the food. BeBop's burgers and curly fries are to die for. Is it Niman Ranch or Kobe beef? No. Is it greasy and tasty? Heck yes. The curly fries in Bebop's sauce -- no Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco can compete, and I really do mean that. The staff is always super friendly, the decor is perfect 50s throwback, and I love the menu names. C'mon people -- stop by Bebop's. You won't regret it. read more

The milkshakes are good here, but I'd never eat the food again. I ordered an omelette with country style potatoes. The cheese wouldn't melt (???) and the potatoes were burnt. My friend ordered their coconut crusted fish and chips. Which stayed under the heating lamp because it was cooked before mine, and because of this the fish was dry and the coating was burnt. Dont be fooled by the appearance of the place. Ask yourself why it takes anyone 30 mins to make a burger, chicken nuggets and fries? Really. They have 1 cook and they go slow as possible. Hire more staff and make the place run efficiently. There were 4 parties including ours in the place while we were there. No reason to be so slow other than not caring and not working. Went back to have lunch with the Dad. Shake is much improved, actually could be one of the better milkshakes in town. But the fries are still horrid and my burger was very odd. It contained jack cheese and bacon, which wasn't slices of bacon, but actually bacon bits that seemed cruchy. My hamburger patty was also way overpeppered, as if I had actually ordered a pepper steak in between the bun. Just ordered door dash for the first time from Be-Bops and everything was soooo amazing. Best burger I've had in a long time and my son loved his chicken nugget meal. In all honesty, I probably wouldn't come here again. The food was okay, but the portions were huge. We were able to split the chicken and fish combo between two people, and still had some left. Which works for us. But again, the food was just okay - and pricey. $20.23 for the combo and two drinks. It took a really, really long time to get our food though. And they weren't even busy! I like the feel of the place, how vintage it all looks. And I was very happy to actually get a large Shirley temple - not something that happens often enough. Still, if I ever find my way to Ukiah again, I'll probably look elsewhere. read more

Dropped in for a bite to eat at 3:30, no one was overly friendly towards us which wasn't from being busy, considering we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time...my friend ordered the Elvis burger, he added cheese ( it was processed cheese for an extra $1.45 ) and fries were $2.95 ..they were maybe 20 in the order, yes they were good but far too few!! The burger itself was just okay, but for $12.00 I would suggest going to IN and Out, at least you would leave feeling full & satisfied! read more
