This "Frosty Queen" just opened at the old KFC location at "hamburger hill" (the local nickname for the cluster of fast-food restaurants at that location). I was a bit shocked by Frosty Queen's prices. For example, the cheapest burger on their menu is the "Jr. Burger" (Hidden in the "Sides" menu), and it costs $6.49. For comparison, you can get *two* Double Cheeseburgers at McDonalds for $4.49. Burger King is pretty cheap also. There is literally not a single thing on the Frosty Queen menu that is "cheap". The inside of the Frosty Queen is not that great. It looks like they tried to re-use as much of the old KFC as possible, including the old worn-out tables, etc. Mismatched light-bulbs and dead bugs in the light fixtures. The old KFC interior-theme quickly painted over by people who seem to have forgot their masking tape. They weren't able to do any Frostys or anything else ice-cream related yet, which was causing ordering issues since for some reason a lot of people were coming into Frosty Queen to order a Frosty. I got a Jr. Burger and an order of Chili Cheese Fries. It took almost 15 minutes for the order to be ready, which I thought was a bit long for a fairly simple order. The payment is setup to leave a tip by default, even for a to-go order, which I thought was pretty rude, especially since it already has the highest prices. The good news is that the burger was pretty large, well cooked, and tasted good. The Chili Cheese Fries were also a good sized portion. I get the impression that their menu/prices are trying to compete more with places like Carls Jr. (which is also more expensive) rather than McDonalds or Burger King. Hopefully this place works-out it's growing pains as the food does taste good. read more

Great place. They cook the burger when you order - the #1 is only $8.99. Very large, good quality patty, good bun (not frozen), killer sauce with cheese, pickles, lettuce and tomato. Sizable burger. Excellent. Puts BK and McD to shame. Variety of menu items. Great chicken sandwiches. I go once a week. Crave it! Give it a try. read more

Very disappointed with our experience at Frosty Queen. This was our first time there, and we were excited to give it a shot. We specifically asked if our food could be made fresh, and the employee told us that everything is cooked to order. Unfortunately, that wasn't true. By the time we got home, the food was horrible. The wings were dry and tasted old, and the fries were stone cold, hard, and clearly not fresh. We tried to eat what we could, but most of it ended up going to waste. It was really disappointing because we had high hopes and wanted to support this place. If you're going to tell customers the food is cooked to order, it should actually be fresh. I waited for some of the "newness" to wear off to avoid long wait times. I was the only one in the drive through. it looked like the inside was pretty busy. Prices are not cheap. I got a double bacon cheeseburger and a milkshake. It was a bit over 23 bucks. I sat a good 10 minutes waiting for my order. Was it with the wait? Absolutely. It is one of the better burgers i have had recently and it is huge. Not sure what's up with the other reviews but the burger I had from there was fantastic. Very big and well worth the money. A lot of broke-ass people in Lake County who complain over spending a quarter. The burgers are priced accordingly for what you get. Also, they have the Kringle cut fries which are exceptionally good. Don't let the negative reviews fool you...especially the lady who was triggered by being told they weren't open yet. 10am is 10am, not 9:57am. read more

This was my first time there and the menu offerings are a bit overwhelming- they have a lot to offer. I got the jalapeno burger and my wife got the bacon burger, and we were both happy with the quality of the food, and we didn't have to wait long to get it. However, the prices are illogical. Depending on what you order, the combo prices range from $2.00 extra to $4.00 for the same large fries and drink. I didn't want the combo, but just a small drink, which cost $2.29. The combo with fries and a drink was only $2.00, so the combo would have been a better deal and the counter person could have pointed that out. In fact, she said charging me separately for the drink and sandwich would be cheaper. Besides that, when we got home and looked at the menu, it said that on Thursdays the jalapeno burger combo is the daily special. We were there on Thursday and paid full price. My other complaint is that the drinks are in plastic cups with plastic lids and plastic straws. The burgers came in plastic boxes, even though we ate there. I'm not a fan of plastic. The cover of their menu shows paper cups and trays. The prices are high for fast food, but the quality and flavor is much better than normal fast food. Now that I've had time to look over the menu and seen how their pricing works, I would go again- as soon as they ditch the plastic. read more
