Love the Bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and some A1 sauce! Awesome milkshakes and the staff is very friendly.

Listen, Mike's has five star food. That's not debatable. I've never had such a delicate,…read moreherbaceous, wonderful omelette before. My partner's biscuits for his biscuits and gravy? So light it could float away. The food comes up quickly and the portions are generous. My partner's eggs were cooked to perfection. So why on earth did they earn only a single star for my visit? The service was absolutely abysmal--to the level that if I hadn't put my food order in, I would've thrown a twenty on the table for the coffees and left somewhere else where we would be treated with respect. When we walked in, the restaurant wasn't that busy. One of the only servers on was just leaning on the bar and told us to sit wherever. That was fine. We asked for coffee and waters. She brought the coffee and then didn't bring the waters. We thought maybe she forgot; took forever to catch her eye and when we inquired about the waters she SNAPPED AT US THAT SHE WOULD BRING THE WATERS WHEN SHE GOT A MINUTE. So rude. Just offputtingly rude. When she finally stomped over to us with the water, she changed her tone quite a bit, but the damage was done. She also gave us zero time with the menu, as if we were an imposition and a total bother to her. Seriously one of the worst serving attitudes I've ever had. Pretty sure I won't be in the area again any time soon, but I won't ever be back here. Shame on you, Mikes. Your food is good but not so good as to excuse the abysmal service.

The vibe was very much small town cafe, which was nice. And the wait staff was friendly. We ordered the California Turkey Club, Tritip Sandwich, Fresh Strawberry Orange Juice, and a Gingerbread Latte. All their portions were very sizeable. Definitely share worthy. There wasn't too much special about the tritip sandwich. Its what you expect from a standard tritip sandwich. The turkey sandwich was a bit unique. They used some artisan bread instead of your usual club toast. It was a good touch, though a bit heavy for brunch for us. Everything tasted great. Gingerbread latte was on the sweet side. The "fresh" strawberry OJ was probably not fresh. Well, we took off a lot of stars for the ridiculous number of flies buzzing around our table. We counted up to 3 flies sitting on an empty chair next to us at any given moment, with more flying around. We asked about the flies, and they brought out some spinny fly fans to keep the flies away. The flies were more hungry than they were scared of the fans. They also had a stash of these fans on the counter. So this wasn't a one-off problem. It was a recurring problem they chose not to solve. Yikes... Would I recommend this place? Probably not. If there were this many flies near our table, I wonder how many are in the kitchen?

Oh gosh, I loved our dinner at Park Place…read more It's a great location for one. You must sit outside if you can so you can watch the lake coming and goings. The food is killer. I'm definitely recreating their signature Gorgonzola bread here at home. It's divine. Worth the entire stop. Simple, but incredible. So crispy and crunchy, the soft inside of the bread melted with blue cheese! Oh! So good! My partner and I got the same thing--the panko crusted fish and chips which was such a delightful departure from the regular beer battered offerings of other places. They were super busy and yet the service was great. Everyone was cool and collected and tried their very best to keep us comfortable. I would definitely return!

The outside patio looked pretty but it was too windy to sit there. The inside ambiance was more diner style (smelled like it as well unfortunately) and did not match the outside appearance. The clam chowder was hearty and full of potatoes and clams. The highly anticipated brunch burger was a disappointment. Upon arrival, the dish already had a smear of aoli on the side of the plate. Too hungry to wonder if the plate was clean (till after the meal ). The egg was perfectly cooked sunny side up. However, the millionaire's bacon was not thick nor had much flavor. The meat of the burger itself was tasteless and overcooked (asked for medium but showed up well done). When one is told to lower dining expectations in lake county you would have thought for sure one can't go wrong with classic burger... apparently not unfortunately.
