I honestly feel ripped off. Paid $39.40 (with tax) for a "large" side of rice and a "large" side of beans--$17.50 EACH. Both came in standard 32 oz takeout containers, nothing close to catering size or anything that would justify that kind of price. This is a small Mexican restaurant in a rural area, not some upscale spot, so the pricing feels completely unjustifiable. Rice and beans are some of the most basic, low-cost items, and charging this much for them is excessive. Food was fine, but there's no way it matches the price. I was nervous cause we went there not knowing anything about it. Food was fantastic! Tons of flavor. We were a party of 6 and somewhat high maintenance with our requests. Everyone liked their meal. We all had something Mexican. Portions were generous! And we were visiting from SF, home of good Mexican. Service was great! An added bonus. They let me bring in my small dog! Just ordered 2 hamburger's and 2 deserts to got them home they don't put anything on them no mustard on ketchup . The hamburger meat was so well done it was had to chew. French fries were good. Everytime I order the lady is extremely rude and will say "oh my god." And not take my full order this has been happening pretty frequently. I used to really like this place but the professionalism is terrible. She hurried me along to get off the phone. Her name was Hope she has always been rude anytime I order over the phone at this point its not even worth getting food there anymore. 6 hour drive and this was at hour 4.5 after desperately looking for somewhere to stop in 116 degree weather. The sign and strip mall look shady but I took a gamble and was pleasantly surprised. First timers! Decided we wanted Mexican food and hubby suggested this place. I drive past it twice a day and have heard good things. The first thing I noticed was it was very clean. Menu offers both American and Mexican meals, and they have a full bar. My husband ordered the country breakfast which was a ton of food. He said the biscuits and gravy were just average. I had the chimichanga and it was ok but very big. Salsa was very good and service was on point. We enjoyed our server very much. Beyond pleasantly surprised by this little hole in the wall of a place. By FAR one of the best chimis I've ever had, and their chili rellenos were stuffed with the proper cheese! The sauces are all great, and everything inside the chimi is top notch. Detoured quite a bit around and drove, I think, like 40 min just find this place absolutely crowded.. (I mean.. as crowded as limited capacity seating can go anyway..) Friendly greetings from the staff and any party was able to get our food and orders quickly. A somewhat interesting mix of American diner fare on top of a whole section of Mexican food. Whatever green creamy salsa they offered (after asking for something really spicy) was quite amazing. Good amount of heat.. I ended up using a lot of it just on my eggs. It is located on the extreme southeast of Clear Lake. Although the Mendocino Complex Fire (which are the River Fire and the Ranch Fire, twin fires burning on both sides of Clear Lake) has greatly affected much of Lake County this restaurant was open for business. The menu had many options from American breakfast classics, sandwiches and wraps to traditional Mexican favorites such as fajitas, enchiladas and other traditional plate foods. The Mexican dishes also include chilaquiles, tamales, sopes, mole and chile rellenos (not your regular Taco Bell-type Mexican food). Breakfast is served until 1:00p. This is a strange mashup of a restaurant but I really liked it! I went twice in the last week - once for breakfast (takeout) and once for dinner (dine-in). My takeout order was packaged beautifully, all the food was extremely hot and fresh. When i dined in the restaurant the staff was super nice and the atmosphere was good. There's a nice little corner of the restaurant that is separated from the bulk of the seating area , which was perfect for me as someone with anxiety. We had an excellent lunch here on our way up to the coast. The ambiance looked a little bit noisy for my taste art first, but we were able to sit in a side area that let us enjoy the music and converse. Service was quick, courteous, and helpful. I had the chicken mole, and it was fantastic! The sauce was rich and complex, and the chicken was a good compliment. The mozzarella sticks were also very good with a better batter than I'm used to. Portions were generous but not excessive which was great for a drive with little ability to take leftovers. It was surprisingly good for a chance we're stopping because we haven't seen a food option other than gas stations for some time. Breakfast is one of our favorite meals out. Although we ate at Judys Junction last time and loved it, we thought we would try something new this time. I would probably get this restaurant 3 1/2 stars if that was possible. Definitely a little better than average in some aspects but lacking in others. I ordered the senior egg, potatoes, toast and bacon crisp. The egg was cooked to absolute perfection over medium. I'm pretty picky about my egg and it was absolutely perfect. The bacon was meaty and Crisp and the hashbrowns were also delectably crisp as I like them. Our waitress was friendly but hubby's coffee cup was not checked on regularly for refills. My husband ordered the cowboy breakfast. He liked all the same things I did with eggs and potatoes. Unfortunately, the gravy was absolutely lackluster. It was blended well but had no flavor whatsoever We noticed one gentleman came and sat at the table behind us but was not waited on so he got up and left. There were three waitresses so I'm not sure what happened there. Also I would suggest they turn off the television. People like to talk over breakfast without Mexican music in the background. Fantastic food, both the Carnitas plate and the Hobo Breakfast. They obliged our late breakfast request past noon, and boy are we grateful. Kept our water full and politely overlooked our possession of "outside" coffee we'd bought two doors down. We're out of towners on a road trip through the area and are a bit on the critical side. Beyond the food and service the decor was delightful, as the designer took care to do as much as can be done with strip mall architecture. So not only is the food delicious, the portions are extremely generous. We're talking the two of us arrived hungry (skipped breakfast) and ordered a plate each. Add complimentary (and delicious!) chips and salsa (add your own salt) and we left having eaten one plate (the Hobo Plate) and two bites each of the carnitas. Yes, we left with a WHOLE PLATE OF CARNITAS WITH RICE AND BEANS. To the tune of about a pound of cooked, delicious pork. This place was just okay. Nothing to rave about, were from Sacramento and the Mexican food isnt anything to compare. However, for a small town this place was okay. I had a chicken enchilada and a sope (which was tasty), everyone else had burgers (they dont have a kids burger so, we paid just about $12 each and fries were VERY plain). They offer a buffalo burger, which is what the mister had.. Grandmother had tacos and total was $60. With 3 drinks(Ouch).. So i have written many reviews about this place from the old owners to the new. The old owner were poor business people and had no business running a restaurant. They had no personality. No manners and definitely no food skills. The new family are spot on. But a few hitches i have found. The Mexican part is absolutely spot on very very good. Haven't had a bad meal yet. But we went in and they need some help on the salad part of their business lol. A Chef Salad should not be served with Package Prosesed Cheese and Shredded Lettuce. It was good but not great. Could have been better. Use better quality meat and cheese even if you have to raise the price a bit i won't mind. It would be worth it.
