Panko ocean sticks with cream cheese (there were 6)
Cat X.

We come back every time we're in town and, while I'm not usually a fan of okonomiyaki at other places, I really like it here. It is more similar in flavor and texture to omusoba I think, which I love. The pancake part is more like a crepe, whereas at other places it is more like a thick fried batter? Nonetheless, Oco Time never fails to impress. Most recently we had the Pirate okonomiyaki, which has a ton of crab, big piece of salmon, and plenty of grilled and batter fried shrimp. Every individual piece is delicious and not overcooked, and as a whole it is a beautiful symphony of flavor. We prefer a sweeter savory dish, so the sweet sauce is our jam. I'm not sure if it was mixed with the bbq sauce this time or not, but it was sweet, smoky, lots of depth. We got the spicy sauce on the side and it was good and relatively spicy (I'm not sure I could eat an oco with even half of that mixed in) though I'm not a huge fan of buffalo-style flavors, so likely won't get it again. The dish is also good as cold leftovers! (But best fresh) We also had the panko ocean sticks with cream cheese. Best fresh, but also so good as cold leftovers because the cream cheese just becomes solid again lol These kind of taste like crab cakes (but with like 85% salmon, which wasn't a problem for me) if you made them into long/thick pieces, then added crunchy panko and nori exterior and doused with a sweet and creamy sauce. Supreme. I also really enjoy the house tea. Brown rice tea is simple and non-caffeinated. A perfect hot drink to enjoy while sitting outside on a "cold" winter night (the heat lamp was giving off a good amount of heat, I was sitting with a t-shirt in December). The sake flight is also nice. There is a customer favorite, which is smooth and sweet but tastes more like a vodka. All 3 were good but our favorite was the unpasteurized middle one, which is mildly sweet but very complex and refreshing. Service, quality, and value is excellent and we still plan to come back whenever we're in town :)

Chicken Katsu Plate

This is a very small restaurant. From what we could tell, they have an equal amount of orders to go as they do for sitdown service. They operate a very clean restaurant with minimal decor. We shared two rolls, the chicken katsu plate, and ordered the miso soup and salad. I did not enjoy the miso soup because the broth was flavorless and the seaweed was too thick and undercooked. The two rolls were good, however it was odd we had to tell them we wanted the ginger and wasabi. Any true sushi restaurant would provide this by default. A few concerns that did not affect our food but would affect others was that they were using tempura for the cooked rolls that had been sitting under the heat lamp for over a half hour. The chicken katsu was good but the sauce was served on top and was far from evenly distributed. We had to ask for some extra sauce. The staff was friendly but as mentioned they missed things that should just be automatic at a sushi restaurant. This would include serving the first pour of hot sake. Also not keeping food under the heat lamp would greatly improve their quality. If I am in Ukiah and have a craving for sushi, I would visit again. However, I would not make it a regular stop or travel out of the way to visit.

Double rainbow roll

Oco Time has never disappointed the many times I have eaten there or ordered from them. Tonight I ordered their "Merry Fishmas" seasonal roll, their Double Rainbow roll, and their seared albacore nigiri and all were delicious. My partner ordered the BBQ Beef and vegetables hot dish. The waitstaff were highly attentive to our needs as patrons and the atmosphere was so cozy and delightful. I highly recommend this spot to travelers who are looking for a spot for dinner, and to locals who may not have tried this place yet.

Everyday bento- Good and filling
Robert S.

I used to spend a lot of time in Ukiah so have eaten here many times, however not for many years. So came here on a Saturday night to check it out. Just got the "Everyday bento" with chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura and a tuna roll for $26. Started with miso soup which I liked. Lots of seaweed and not too salty yum. Nice little spinach salad with a tasty dressing. Portions on the bento were generous. I enjoyed the chicken and noticed the teriyaki sauce was somewhat garlicky which was different but I was fine with it. Three large shrimp tempura were good but the batter could have been a little lighter although they were crispy. The sushi roll was just ok for me, the rice wasn't seasoned with vinegar enough for my taste. Service was excellent. Our server, Sebastian, was friendly and efficient. Overall a nice dinner and hope to return one day.

The best food always. The warmest of services and friends for over 20 years. With such an abundance of both treasured friendships and food. The ambiance is always the best. PS; miss the sushi bar.

I didn't order this so I'm not sure what it was, but it looks pretty!

This place was difficult to find at first but totally worth it! It's a small seating inside, but more out back I believe. The chefs and wait staff were so very helpful and friendly. I'd never heard of oko before, it was a HUGE portion which I was not expecting. If you've never tried this dish, do it!!! A layer of cabbage with a ramen tower, covered with my choice of meat and half hot n spicy, other half sweet and savory seasoning and sauce. My lunch mates ordered off the lunch menu and enjoyed theirs as well :)

Honestly, I guess this place is ok for a small town business BUT it's not authentic and over priced. I came here based on reviews so I can buy dinner for my son's bday since we are from out of town. Well, lesson learned. Rice wasn't soft nor tasted like it had rice vinegar. The presentation was interesting. Miso soup was ok. Tasted more water down. The teriyaki chicken was bland. Triple SSS wasn't fresh. Yokayo roll was meh. Leo roll was different but no heightened flavor on the kabocha tempura. The seaweed salad is interesting with shredded carrots. It's was bland. All I can say in a nutshell, it was all bland or how my kids would say *meh*, and we ended up not eating majority of the food. We ended up with McDonald's since I spent most of my cash here.

Udon hot noodle bowl with veggie broth
Scott O.

We had the Udon hot noodle bowl with veggie broth and the Udon hot noodle bowl with fish broth to compare. We also had the combo tempura. $30. They were both very flavorful with the fish broth being much more salty. Each had lots of veggies, mushrooms and fried tofu. Bonus: I think the chef must believe that each noodle bowl should have it's own tempura plate (and they were right) because we were brought an extra tempura plate for free. This was some of the best we've had and we've had a lot! The food, restaurant and staff were all so good we may go back to try some other dishes.

Well, the wontons were tender and delicious, and there were plenty of the pork, chicken, and shrimp, and they were also done very well. The garlic chicken was just as good. I could smell the garlic as soon as I opened the container. There was plenty of rice, the chicken was tender, and the veggies were just right. The rice was done perfectly, and it went with the Dish very very well. I had enough soup and garlic chicken to have a nice breakfast as well. The price was reasonable considering I got two meals out of it. The only thing I could say, was they could see that it was a DoorDash order, but I don't know if they could see that it was going to a motel. If they could see that, they should've realized that most motels don't have bowls or plates The garlic chicken and the rice came in small "to go containers", and I had no plates or anything, so it made it kind of hard to eat. The next time I order from this place, I will ask them to include a to go tray. I will order from this place again. Thank you.

It's looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but every table was full . I ordered hot and sour soup, fried rice, chow mein, lemon, chicken, and sweet and sour pork. They did not out the sauce in the sweet and sour pork or lemon chicken which was great as I live about an hour away. So when I got back home I just heated up the food in my walk with the sauce and it was so good, tasted like it was just made. I was very impressed with all the dishes, they were all great. Will definitely be going back.

We recently relocated to Sonoma county (The Sea Ranch) from Silicon Valley (Menlo Park) and have had some nice meals along the coast since we moved here FT (Harbor House, Ledford House etc) but this little spot is a real gem. Friends recommended it so we had a double date night and filled the table with all sorts of goodies. Great evening and food. Highly recommended. Small, simply situated on a very quiet street in Point Arena. A few doors down from a decent locally sourced weed shop (also worth a visit BTW), and a local fish monger (Point Arena is a commercial fishing port) and solid local bakery (Pelican), this excellent restaurant serves up a variety of rotating locally sourced small plates and yakatori style grilled meats and veggies as well as some raw fish and stews as well. Highlights were the sashimi, the fish roe on rice, the grilled pork belly, the grilled cabbage salad, the tempura shrooms and the fried chicken oysters as well as the grilled chicken thighs. All excellent. They have a nice selection of saki's as well (we had 2 small bottles to share $20/each) and to close the meal we had the Matcha ice cream with passion fruit ! All in for 4 people including tax and tip $250...which in today's world seemed very fair to me. Great meal and great vibe overall. Chef/owners apparently have strong training and work experience in Japanese settings and fine dining restaurants- which may explain why this place does very simple things so well... Make a reservation on the weekends otherwise you'll miss out or end up eating at the bar. There are certainly worse things to do than that...however, trust me. Visit here and thank me later. Well done Izakaya Gama ! We will be back. This will undoubtedly be on our regular "locals dining out rotation" now. Bravo Izakaya Gama !

At one point we were talking about Rintaro in SF, and the chef overheard us--she mentioned he knew the folks there and spoke highly of them. Honestly, after eating here, I think Gama is better, and at a much friendlier price point. Warm atmosphere, great food, and a chef who clearly cares about what they're doing. This place is a win all around.
