Jenna B had provided a good service. The food was fresh. The atmosphere is nice. But there is one down side.... The grill guy over cooked the ribeye. :( It tasted like beef jerky. If the grill guy is trained coking different food in different timing, I believe BD's will be one of my favorites. read more

I try to go to BD's anytime I am in C-Bus. The Covid years were bleak, the restaurant had to modify how the service was done. Now, it is closer to pre-Covid operation. The food is only as good as the person (oneself) can put together. My combination is always a winner. The restaurant is clean, but bench in the booth I was in was broken. But that didn't impact my visit. read more

We used to love the Mongolian Barbecue restaurant in Indianapolis. The restaurant was very festive and usually vibrant with lots of people. I also got the impression that the food was much better. For whatever reason whenever we've been to this location, it has very few customers, and although they have a very large variety of meats and veggies, somehow we can never get the taste right. For those who don't know how this restaurant works, you basically fill your bowl with meats, veggies, toppings, and sauces, and then you hand it off and they cook everything for you. It is all you can eat, so you can go as many times, and there is also a section for salads and soups. You can also order sides like egg-rolls, crab rangoon, potstickers, etc. read more

I have not had Mongolian Grill in a long time but I was pleased with the experience. It was just as I remember it previously. The waiter was very nice and friendly. The food was good and I also had fried Oreo 's that were really good! I would recommend this location if you're near by. read more

Listen, it's BD's. It's not like it's some remarkable place, known for their great cuts, or their amazing selections. You pick your own mess, and you pick your own spices, and you suffer the consequences. I know, it's my own damn fault that I can only be inspired in my own kitchen, and I make these insanely spicy concoctions here. The service, however, is amazingly friendly. Unlike the bowls I usually end up making. read more

Not impressed. The cost of what you pay is not worth the experience... so overpriced!! I've been to other places before like this where it is much more affordable. You can't even fill up your bowl enough to get the one bowl value (14.49+drink+tax+tip) and would have to eat multiple bowls for the multi bowl deal ($17.49+drink+tax+tip). With that said, you can imagine the crowd. The salad bar wasn't anything special.. you get the salad bar with your meal, but there wasn't too much on it. The waiter was very awkward and made you feel uncomfortable when ordering drinks and had questions when I've never been here before. He made an awkward joke/comment about tipping him as he brought us the bills... so uncomfortable. We ordered the single bowl and tasted pretty good. If you want to make choices and know what will be good together, then this is your place. There is a good variety of different meats, vegetables, and carbs to create your own stir fry bowl. Be cautious with your sauces because you could create a flavor you do not enjoy. The cooks can recommend or there is a board. There were only a few families in the restaurant so I question how fresh the food is... or maybe that's why the prices are so high. read more

So yummy and quick! I've never made it past one bowl but if you can then the unlimited option is definitely worth it! Choose your options wisely but try to switch it up! I feel like I always end up getting the same thing, chili, mushroom and garlic sauce lol Make anything from italian to Asian! read more

This restaurant has a great mixture of experience and great taste. Here you pay by the bowl, pick your raw ingredients, and have your food cooked on this tremendous cooking stone! Doing this you get to try countless variations of the different mixtures and enjoy the art of the chef's cooking your personal concoction, all while putting on a show comparable to Japanese chefs. read more

My family is comprised of many picky eaters, and we often thought it was a lost cause that we would ever find a restaurant where everyone would be happy... Until we found BD's Mongolian Grill. The appeal of this restaurant is their "build your own bowl" model. After being seated and ordering this option, you'll get an empty bowl that you take to a buffet-style line of dozens of types of meats, vegetables/other toppings, and sauces/spices. The goal is to pack as much stuff into your bowl as possible! One tip to maximize the quantity - start with the vegetables, and then put the meat on top to keep everything in place. After you fill up your bowl, you take it to a large grill area where the chefs cook your meal right in front of you. Rice and/or tortillas are also provided if you request them. Note that you can only refill your bowl if you get the Unlimited option, which is only a few dollars more. By ordering the Bowl option, you also get access to their salad and soup bar. I haven't tried their soups, but the salad bar is very basic with not a lot of options. But the main reason for coming here is the Bowl, so this isn't a big deal. read more

I like this location, lots of seating. Staff was friendly. The cooks were pretty good after you choose your meats and veggies. It was all cooked well. They even gave us a takeout box for what we did not finish. I would definitely go back! read more

Yum! With Covid, they are doing things a little differently. They have a single person behind the line to put all of your ingredients in the bowl (so only one person is touching tongs) & it works out nicely. I had the sriracha chicken with lots of veggies, teriyaki & orange pee sauce. The orange peel sauce is tasty!! My boyfriend got beef with teriyaki & yum yum sauce and he enjoyed his as well. Will be going back! The server was a little slow to get to us originally, but it was a little busy and he had many tables. read more

Was driving around doing some shopping and never been in here before. Decided to check it out. I was seated and waited for 10 minutes and while several servers walked right by me and one even in my section, not one stopped at my table or even looked me in the eye. I get that COVID times are rough, but there were like 10 employees running around and the place wasn't that busy. I left and went someplace that wants my business. read more

This review is written with mixed feelings. My wife and I love this restaurant. I haven't found a family member that doesn't give it a thumbs up. Why I have rated it so low is a result of service for a visitor with a food allergy. While my daughter, now 8 years old, loves the food it takes far too long for them to cook the food on the clean grill in the back. We have went three times and each time has been horrible. If you have a food allergy and need special care do not visit unless you are not that hungry or have brought food to eat before you get your meal. Each trip for a new bowl will result in a 20-30 minute wait after you are ready for them to cook it and you have to ask for them to check on it. read more

the food was so good and the people that work her are so nice And the ambiance , was so good I felt like I was home.

They need to work on the their delivery of your food. They lost my order after I sat it at the grill. They came by to our table with 4 different plates of other people's food, asking if this was my order. Even asked my husband if those were his order. I repeated my order at least 3 times to two different people and the couldn't find my food. Also don't think the sauces on either of our orders were correct. They need to come up with a better system. The waitress even took our names and table number and put it on our bowls, you would think they would put the same names on the plates they bring to the tables? The white rice was also very dry and you could tell it sat out for a while. Will probably wait till covid calms down till we come back. read more

I have been here exactly twice--neither time by choice--and both times have been heckled by one of the guys at the grill for being a vegetarian. I am not sure why food service employees feel the need to do this to a customer; also, the guy heckling me on 10/27 didn't know the difference between a vegan and vegetarian. I would have left, but it was a work outing. The food is stuff anyone can make at home, it's overpriced, and there are far, far better Asian restaurants in the same block. Our service was very good and the dessert was fine. I will not be back. read more

Ugh I was really hoping to enjoy this place but not this location food was burnt and nasty

Love the food, lately we have been going there and our food is getting burnt really bad. We eat here a lot normally. Love the place!!

The concept is great but the execution on the stone has been consistently poor at this location. After three visits I am giving this a two, I would have rated 2,3,2. You go to a restaurant to eat and the cooks failed me every time by overcooking and/or mixing my food with the meals next to mine. First trip I got steak tartar when I wanted medium and a bunch of seafood mixed in. Second time it was ok but they weren't busy and the cook could pay attention. It got me to give them another chance only to be let down again. This final time, I told the guy with the sticks, I thought it was done. He responded "I am the cook and you are here to eat. give it a few, trust me, I've done this thousands of times." My medium was extremely well done and had more of my neighbors veggies than my own. Seriously WTF? Not sure the value is there for what they charge and what they cook. The service at this location was consistently good, I felt like they cared and were disappointed I did not enjoy my dinner. The restaurant is generally clean and it is very accessible. I'll try another location or come in at off times again before I write this place off but I find it hard to recommend based on my experiences at the grill. read more

The food was absolutely amazing and the manager was extremely hospitable. It seemed like he was the main one doing work which just shows how much he cares about service and helping the customers. When he was the one serving us it was great but the server at the end was short demanding and kind of rude. It was really cool because the manager took the time to tell us about how Mongolians used to cook and how it was authentic with their cooking. Overall a pretty great experience and would definitely go back. read more

Mediocre experience for us.... dining environment wasn't particularly good because it was extremely loud. The table arrangement was tight and slighly uncomfortable. We tried the shrimp, scallop, and beef tips as the main protein. I liked the beef tips the most. Scallops were good but tiny. For $14.99/bowl for dinner, the bowl wasn't particularly big. The opening is not as wide so it's just difficult to put food in there because you only get one bowl to fit protein and veggies in. Sauce options were a lot which was a plus. However, ingredient-wise, they were mostly just the basics. Food tastes were good but not great to my standard. My companion and I both ordered brown rice but only one bowl came... Overall, it was average experience. I felt like the value was probably more around $11.99 for what we had. read more

Our server Nia was AMAZING!! Food and service was great too. Nia 100% deserves a raise

i got yelled at for reaching over to grab food in line, because of food allergies, but then they continued to use the same spatulas for each meal... the guy who yelled at me was extremely rude at first but tried to come back from it after. read more

I do not believe that this is true Mongolian food ( a cuisine I am not familiar with) but it is a decent stir fry, more in the Japanese grill tradition than anything more exotic. The concept, if you are unfamiliar, is a dish selected of one raw but fresh serving of meat, two vegetables, one BBQ sauce, two spices ( I may have the quantities confused) and placed on top of ramen noddles. It is stir fried on an iron grill in the open. The experience is somewhat akin to Japanese steakhouses with less showmanship, but still with a bit of entertainment; the cooks will banter, flip utensils, and pretty much act like Tom Cruise in Cocktail as they turn, mix, and fry your selected ingredients. The meal is hit or miss. Of course it depends on your culinary bonafides ( I have none) so if you pick a bad combination your meal could taste like a casserole made of thanksgiving leftovers. It is best to go with known combos: chicken with teriyaki sauce, pork with BBQ, ect. I have been here enough to experiment, which I can make good by adding garlic--garlic can make anything taste good. It is a decent meal, but it won't blow you away. ( that event happens later.) I am impress by the quality of their calamari--it is very flavorful and has excellent texture for a chain offering. Their other meat is decent but nothing to crow about. Service is usually good, although this trip the waitress did mix up our drinks, but it was a large party. They do have a bar, but offer no craft or IDA beer. I do not think it is a full bar though, just standard domestic or imports drafts and bottles, some mix concoctions, standard chain offerings. It's a nice place for a family night out. read more

I'm really, really not sure why I keep coming back here. It's like I eat here and then I have a break long enough to forget how poor the quality of the meat is to actually think "hey, it might be ok". This past visit we found out fairly quickly that the level of service would depend on whether or not we bought alcoholic drinks. As soon as we both ordered water, the waiter could care less, you could even see it in his face and body language the moment after. I'm not sure why, but this location has consistently had poor quality meat. No matter what you get or on what visit, the meat is very chewy and the flavor is just not quite "good" enough. The place sure does smell good when you drive by, so deceptive. read more

I love this place! Not sure what you want to eat? Can't decide if you feel for chicken or pork today? Get both! Do you want a sweet sauce or a spicy sauce? Get both! When you get to decide every ingredient of your meal, you don't have to bother with "Well, I kind of want this dish, but I don't like mushrooms" or "I'd really like this other dish if it came with that sauce instead of this one." It's good for people like me who like control I guess =). As with any buffet, make sure you strategize. You get one bowl and however much you can fit in there is what you get to have =). My tip for this place is do not be afraid to be generous with the seasonings and the sauces! They are just going to throw everything on the cooking surface and sometimes things get left behind in the containers, and the sauces will evaporate away a bit too. They cleverly shirk all responsibility for bland food onto you, so don't let it happen! =) Bring your tasty concoction to the table and they will bring you as much white or brown rice and tortillas as your little heart desires. There is also salad and soup that comes with it, but honestly, I've not known anyone to really waste time on that part when there is make your own stirfry to be had. read more

I wish I could have just one bowl but I always stuff myself and have two. The rationale is I'm a bit nuts and I cannot combine beef and seafood in the same bowl. I feel they need diff sauce, veggies, etc so I always am forced to get two bowls and feel terrible when I overeat. That being said the food is great I just wish I had some self control. The food is always fresh and the chefs do a good job of keeping you entertained while your dish is being cooked. I went on a lent Friday and they had some additional fish choices I hadn't seen before. The birthday club will sent you a free entree on your special day so sign up. read more

Tool bag cook trying to be funny just made my night totally unenjoyable. Why am I even here? Certainly won't be returning certainly, certainly will be telling my friends not to come here. Can someone please just hand me my shitty food and stop trying to earn a dollar tip from me? Ps: my shrimp was cooked with the shell still on. So. That was fun. read more

This is my niece's favorite place to eat. It is a little overwhelming if you have never been. They have appetizers and desserts, but most people skip an just have the bowl by itself or will have unlimited bowls, like my niece has done. You fill the bowl from a buffet. There is much any meat, vegetables, and spices you can imagine. I had scallops, calamari, shrimp, crab. Next I had edamame, jalapeños, bean sprouts. Then for a sauce it was Korean barbecue. Finally a chef stir fries everything, with a little bit of enthusiasm. You also have a choice of white or brown rice with your meal. It was delicious. read more

While certainly not a high end restaurant or someplace I frequent, I support BD's because of their seemingly decent sense of community, morality, and responsibility. If you want to eat horribly, go ahead, they give you that chance. If you want to eat healthy, go ahead and do that too. If you want no oil, have a food allergy, or have an intolerance for 'beef' flavor they'll cook it in the back, away from the mega-bowl of sirloin, sausage, and ranch dressing created by your neighbor. The cooks are generally a fun group and the crowd is usually fun too. Parking is far less a hassel than the Nationwide or Easton versions, as well. As one of the first companies to completely remove transfats from their entire menu (including desserts) I appreciate their commitment to allowing people to make a good dining choice and their salad bar with soup is generally very fresh and appealing, like most of the meats on the bar. The one complaint, I guess, could be the layout and fact that from certain angles the TVs are not visible, which is a bummer on game days. Another complaint that I hear often is from friends who can't cook; "I don't know what to mix." Here is a little hint: Cinnamon and Garlic go with everything. :-) Prices have gone up lately, but so has the price of everything else.....still a good deal and a healthy alternative with fresh items (much better than the slop troughs at Golden Corral and Hometown Buffet.) read more

I went here with a group of friends and I think that is the only time I'd ever go back. It makes for a fun atmosphere when out with a group but, seems to have a few down-falls. The service was a bit lacking when it came to timely refills but, other than that, the woman was friendly and seemed to at least mean well. There was also a bit of a fault with the food. If you don't know how to cook at home and put ingredients together then it's likely you might come up with something that doesn't taste so good. I know what I'm doing in that regard but, my boyfriend doesn't. My shrimp w/ veggies and chili garlic sauce w/ extra fresh garlic was pretty darn good. My boyfriend's concoction of duck, various seafood, veggies, and BBQ sauce? Not so great. If you don't know what you are doing then it's a good idea to keep it super simple or even *gasp* follow one of those recipe cards they have for you. Be prepared that unless you choose to get your food grilled on a separate grill to get some pieces of things you didn't order in your finished dish since things seem to get tossed around a bit. I also suggest washing your hands after touching all those tongs before you to eat your meal. Raw meat juices get splashed all over the place and it's better to be safe than sorry when dealing with that sort of thing. I really did like the fact that they offer brown rice as well as white. I appreciate that sort of thing since I'm *for the most part* concerned with healthy-eating. The only problem was the rice wasn't the freshest and was starting to get a little dry and sticky in the bowl they brought it out in. But, hey, brown rice! We also ordered a dessert to share. The large apple pie type dessert is monstrous and my boyfriend and I couldn't finish it between the two of us. It seemed to have more pie pieces than apples in my opinion but, for the price and the size it was a fairly good deal that tasted good as well. This place is a good place to go with a group of friends where you can sit around, talk, be loud, have fun, watch the game and even eat fairly decently for a good price. Just don't have high expectations on service or the like and you should be fine. (Also, if it's a Friday or Saturday night then you should probably make a reservation just to be safe, this place gets packed up quick) read more

This branch off of the BD's tree is a fairly decent one. It harbors a bit of space for groups of people, but the Arena district one will always hold a special place in my heart. The only reasons I can see people giving this the thumbs down are for people who don't like adapting to change from your ordinary sit down restaurant, people who have no sense in mixing ingredients, and possibly the pocketbook factor($$). It's really a simple concept, but for those who struggle there are instructions, and you also have the handy server staff to assist. Pick out your ingredients, cram it all onto one bowl, pile it high like a feast mountain, take said bowl over to giant round grill, allow your meal to be cooked before your eyes, TIP your cook, ring the gong, and sit down and enjoy. This place is great for people who are picky eaters, because THEY decide what they want. SUPER TIP: Sign up for their fanclub/e-mail list thing, because they will usually give you a FREE birthday dinner voucher. I have to tell you, dessert isn't too shabby here either, and it's gargantuan, so SHARE THE LOVE, you greedy Mongolian!! read more

Not only do you get seated in a timely manner (even when the place is packed with customers) but you are given sit down restaurant service in a buffet style environment. This isn't a Chinese buffet restaurant. Instead, you pick from an abundant assortment of fresh meats, vegetables, and spices and watch it cooked in front of you. If it's busy? No problem as someone will kindly escort you to an open grill area. Is this 5 star dining? No. But it's far better than a traditional buffet style restaurant. Good food and good service and it doesn't break the budget. Definitely worth trying. read more
