The food here was so salty! It looked good but as soon as I took the first bite, I knew I wouldn't be able to go back here. It wasn't that it was just my meal that was ridiculously salty, but also my husband's meal. The fried rice was so darn disappointing-- I was looking forward to this hence my disappointment. The drink was meh, not worth going even for that.

I have not gone to a BD's since early college. The restaurant is very clean and service was fast. I was greeted at the door and by the general manager, Jason. We were seated at a booth right away. Pretty much think of this as a chipotle, but for hibachi style. You pick all your raw ingredients and they cook it for you. You start with your carbs (if you want any), proteins, veggies, and then sauces. It can be overwhelming, but super fun! I mean you're pretty much making and seasoning your own meal without having to cook it or clean the dishes! There is something for everyone here from vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free / dairy free choices. If you make a bad combo of things, you can't really blame the people making it. It's $22.99 for unlimited bowls or $17.99 for one. Truly not that badly priced depending on how much you eat. I get overly excited and try to squeeze as much in a bowl. We also tried the premade Hong Kong chicken bowl. It had decent flavor, but the noodles were doughy and the texture was completely off. I think they should've used egg noodles since it holds texture and is more bouncy. Would come back !

Food was a better value for the price than I first expected. The addition of the salad bar was a huge plus! Would definitely recommend for only $3 more. The space inside the restaurant seemed crammed with all of the tables close to one another.

The hubs and I had been wanting to try this place for a long time. It ended up being a very different experience than the west coast Mongolian BBQ's we've been to. BD's is a sit down buffet restaurant. It's not just the Mongolian BBQ buffet, there's also a menu with appetizers, desserts, and adult beverages. The servers will take your order and then give you a bowl for the buffet line and bring you drinks, etc. They give you a post-it note for your bowl. Then you go down the buffet line and put everything you want in your bowl, go up to the circular counter where the chefs are cooking food on the flattop, and they assign a number for you to put your bowl down on. You're supposed to put your sticker in the spot, so the servers know what table to deliver it to. So totally completely different than what we're used to! Here you even put the raw meat in your bowl! The customers in the buffet line were really nice and gave us tips like putting the meat on the bottom, and the noodles on last so you get the most out of your bowl. There were tons of meats, veggies, noodles, and sauces to choose from. I put the sauces on top of everything (like I was used to doing). Apparently the norm here is to get the little sauce cups and fill them up with whatever you want on your food, and then set it in front of your number at the chefs counter, and then they add it when your food is almost finished cooking. Definitely a learning curve to this place, which is why I'm explaining to Yelpers how it works! My stir fry turned out great (though I made it *really* spicy. The side of white rice was very helpful. LOL). My hubby loved his stir fry too. He decided to add on the endless buffet and then made a pasta dish with marinara, sausage and meatballs because he wanted to see what it was like. He said he wouldn't do it again, but had fun trying it. I look forward to eating here again. The service was great too. She was very helpful when we told her it was our first time there. It is pretty expensive, at almost $20 for one trip to the buffet. You can add on the endless buffet for around $5 more.

Every once in awhile I get a craving for Mongolian bbq and have to make a trip here when I am in town. The concept is make your own stir fry.. you pick your protein and veggies, plus noodles if you'd like, then your sauces and any seasonings. Then you hand off your bowl to the cooks who grill it in front of you and return it to you. You can pay for either one bowl (I have mastered the art of balancing multiple eggs on top of my pile of meat for optimal value) or unlimited bowls for a few bucks more. It also comes with the soup and salad bar which isn't large but you can make yourself a decent side salad and they usually have two soups like chili and chicken noodle. You also get your choice of brown or white rice with your bowl and you can request tortillas and sour cream. While I have fond memories of this place, our visit this time wasn't bad at all, just seemed to lose some of its magic. Hardly anyone was in the restaurant. Our server was super nice, but those at the grill were kind of neutral. The salad bar had been picked over and was a bit haphazard too so I just skipped it this time. The bowls were still good, it really is up to you to make something delicious or not. Pay close attention to your sauce and seasoning combinations since that can make it or break it. Overall I was super full after one bowl and enjoyed the experience as always, but can't say I'll be running back anytime soon.

How to stack a bowl!

This place is one of my all time favorite places to go here in Columbus and any time that I have an out of town friend visit I always take them here and they always absolutely love it and want to go back the next time they are in town. The dining experience is awesome, they seat you and, if you have never been there before, they will explain to you how it all works. You get a bowl, go get your meats at a buffet like table, then you get your veggies, then you get some sauce in a small cup, then last get some spices. The secret to getting a lot is to get the veggies FIRST, then the meats second. Sure people form a line and go down the line but it's not really a line, no more than a buffet, you go to wherever you want and get what you want. By adding veggies first you can then stack meat real high and the meat is not going to roll off. If you want shrimp or other smaller meats like that then form a little bowl with your veggies and stack all that in the center. The suggestion at the place is not to mix meats but it's just a suggestion, and I always get at least a couple of different meats. If you don't like the food here then you have only yourself to blame! I can help you make it better though with the following tips: 1. Get at least 3 containers of sauce. Or go to the salad bar and get a bigger cup that you can use for soup (a manager suggested this to me so you won't get into trouble) and then get a huge cup of sauce. The sauce is the key to making it taste good. 2. Add a lot of spices in to your sauce. It says not to use a lot of spice and of course if it's something like hot pepper flakes don't go crazy but in general I use a LOT of spices. 3. Get an egg, or even two, to make it more of a hearty meal. We love BD Mongolians, we try to get over there once a month or so and if you sign up for their Club Mongo you get a free bowl on your birthday so make sure to do that! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!

We learned that you can pick your own caterer and provide your own booze which can go along way in both cost and allowing you to truly customize your special event. This was one of the top contenders for our wedding day. What ended up keeping us from booking is that we wanted to have a November wedding and this venue is perfect for outdoor weddings so it just was too much of a gamble with the crazy Ohio weather. If you're venue shopping, I highly recommend this place. It was just so nice and if you're an Upper Arlington resident, you can get even more of a discount. Check it out!

The staff was excellent -- always checking in to see if we needed anything. According to Charlotte, one of the venue coordinators, they can seat about 150 max. The wedding I attended had a little under 100 guests, with plenty of room to move about with the dance floor set up in the front of the venue. For the ceremony: There is a beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking a pond w/ a fountain. Plenty of seating with a small aisle for the bridal party to walk down. For the reception: There is plenty of room! Tons of natural lighting. A concession stand type window bar area and an alcove to set up the food and cake tables. I was very impressed with this venue. It was clean, modern, easy to access, great staffing, with tons of natural beauty to it. I will definitely be suggesting this location to future photography clients. Well done, Amelita Mirolo.

They had raised their prices and also charged me for things that were not supposed to be there. It was a LOT of money. They made me send them a copy of the pamphlet that they gave us during our first meeting to prove the price difference! This is so unprofessional. Also, coordinators were young and must have been trained to say, "of course" and "absolutely". That's fine, but after a while, I just want things done as we discussed. Ours (Harper) left the company a few weeks before the wedding, and when I requested a face to face meeting with the new one that we had never met, she said that they normally don't do that, but she would. Um yes. And even though we went through details with her(Mia), there were things that were missed. We specifically asked for no champagne toast, yet flutes were on the tables and they started pouring at 2 tables before I caught them. There were other things, like a non working fridge in the get ready bridal area (so warm drinks), food that was already out when we arrived with flies landing on it, the wrong cross rented from Serendipity, when we specifically asked for the thicker/more substantial one, plastic black hangers left on two of our floral arrangements lining the ceremony aisle (Fiori Florals) and a cake that was NOTHING like we selected. It was on a black stand when we selected gold, we paid $60 extra for pearls and there were maybe 12 on the whole cake, the gold icing was yellow/brown, and it tasted and looked nothing like what we originally ate and chose. To top it off, it was dry and crumbly. We ended up giving it to our hotel staff. Mia did not seem prepared to run a wedding. She sent the MOB down the aisle with an usher walking back, so they had to move to the side. There were good things about the venue, but just be prepared for many things to go wrong. I had every checklist in the world, and it still wasn't enough.

When my father and I arrived a half-hour early, we found the door locked as it started to pour rain and thunder and lightning. The rest of the family was already inside setting up and getting ready. This so-called venue manager or whomever was in charge finally saw us standing outside and opened the door and rudely asked with an attitude, "Are you family?" What kind of a question, IS THAT? Also, why in the hell would you lock the outer doors of a wedding venue that is currently occupied? That is a fire hazard! Also, if you have posted business hours, you are not allowed to lock the doors, regardless of whether its by appointment only or not. I was half expecting her to be a gracious hostess and say, "Hello, welcome, are you here for the wedding? Please come in." INSTEAD, before I can respond, she continues to say, "We don't let guests in before the start time, only family." Of course I reply politely as I can that we are family. My father and I were the only two members of my aunt's side of the family attending this wedding. Everyone else that was attending was the bride's family members who came all the way from India, Canada and other parts of the world, and my Uncle's family members who were all local plus family friends. They only had 9 tables and not everyone even came. I'm actually very glad that my mother, who is wheelchair-bound, could not attend because this building is not ADA compliant by law. She wouldn't have been able to use the bathroom or enjoy the patios without someone helping her up and down. When we got inside and greeted our family, I could clearly see that this wedding was not going to be starting right at 5:30. (I even had offered when we arrived to help put out the name cards for the tables on the guestbook table for them so they could focus on the food and the bar, and I was immediately dismissed with the rudest attitude from this manager.) They claimed it was because of the rain and that they were going to have the blessing outside and were trying to wait for it to pass, but by 5:30, they hadn't even bothered to open up the bar or put out hor d'oeuvres. They didn't even have coffee made, and we couldn't even get a soda, they just had water and tea ready. It wasn't until 6 or so that my cousin finally walked over to the bar, told the bartender he was the groom and wanted the bar opened because people were stuck standing around the staff scrambled to finish setting things up they should have been brought out at 5:25 PM. My cousin told me that because they didn't open the bar on time, they didn't use their money's worth of alcohol. People were coming to this blessing/reception for an already married couple, expecting some sort of food for them to much on right away, and it wasn't served until nearly 7 PM. it was nearly 8 PM by the time I got my food. The salmon was so dry and overcooked and was cold because of their delay. The staff was also rushing around trying to move things along once it got going. They brought out COLD PIZZA at 10 PM that should have been brought out way earlier. They didn't cut the cake until after everyone was done eating. It should have been cut up while everyone was being served their plated dinners. As someone who has worked in the customer/food service/retail/restaurant industries for the last 20+ years, I WOULD NEVER EVER run my own business like this, treat my clients' guests horribly. I always LOVE it when I work and it's clear I'm struggling and my customers or regulars immediately ask to help. I have never seen so much disorganization from a venue since my own wedding at a completely different venue in another county in Ohio five and a half years ago. Don't use this venue, clearly others have had the same issue with the professionalism and speediness of this staff.

I don't know how pricey the place is (it didn't look cheap, though) and I don't know if the hosts had to set everything up themselves or if someone helped. As a guest, however, I can say that this is a simply gorgeous space to be in. When you walk in you're basically walking in to a wide open hallway that's (at least partially) lit naturally thanks to the wide windows at the end of it. Don't think the club is limited to one hallway, though: there are rooms galore to explore and use. For example there's a small library in one section of the building, and there's also a media room with a collection of classic movies in another. Additionally, there's a great kitchen space and a living room area with an enormous TV, tables (and given the time of year I was there, a Christmas tree). There's fireplaces as well, although I didn't look to see if they were functional or decorative. They were a nice touch either way. I also have to say, space in every section of the building was used well (I'd even say strategically), so that the entire building feels very open and inviting even though it's also filled with lots interesting art and decor. I also liked the fact that the color schemes they used were both pretty to see and yet very official - a great way to ensure that the place looks great for any gathering. Everything was so neat and clean, I simply couldn't complain about things - for the most part. I did find it frustrating that a space clearly designed to host large crowds only had one open bathroom when I was there. I really couldn't tell if it was the only bathroom in the area or if it was just the only open bathroom, but either way it admittedly created problems after my entire extended family had been eating and drinking for a couple hours. Overall though, the event I attended went smoothly and I enjoyed quite a comfortable afternoon here. I doubt I'll have a chance to return since I'm not a local, but it's a good place to keep in mind for sure!
