I can say with confidence, that this is the best hands down fried chicken I've ever had. The size of the restaurant is small and cozy. Coming in late afternoon, we were greeted by a very friendly person named Chris. We then learned she was one of the owners. She educated us on what separates their food from others. I was very impressed hearing they prep their chicken from whole, and never frozen. This got us very excited. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered chicken tenders along with 3-point wings, flats, drumsticks, and thigh. For sides, we ordered the chicken chili, cornbread, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. I want to start off with the chicken tenders. I for one aren't a fan for boneless chicken, but after trying these, it may have forever changed my mind. These are crispy, tender, moist, and the best chicken tenders I've ever tasted. Moving onto the boned-in chicken and these were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly seasoned, beautifully crispy skin, and very moist. As for as the sides, all sides were extremely tasty. I have to point out the coleslaw was delicious. I loved the fact it wasn't overly seasoned and drowsed in mayo. The vegetables maintained their crunchiness, and there wasn't a puddle of mayo on the bottom. While searching for the best fried chicken closest to my home, I'm glad I've found this place. After my last visit to the Chicken Coop, I must raise their score to 5 stars. When I called them to place my order (Large Clutch), I asked for all the sides to be chips. This is because I have sampled a few of their sides and have found the chips to be the best. However, the person taking our order was very concerned that I only wanted one type of side and asked if I had tried any other sides and if I have had issues with the other sides in the past. She mentioned they previously had a problem with their plastic containers impacting the taste of the sides and said she could give me a sample of something to try. How refreshing is it to actually hear a business WANT input on why you are not ordering something? I was truly impressed. When we got there to pick up the food, they asked us if we had any suggestions on different sides for the menu (I noticed they also asked this question on their FB page). They also mentioned they have a dedicated gluten free fryer (the owner's quote was "That fryer has never seen flour and never will.") so you can order some gluten free fried chicken (obviously it will be sans breading). They also offer a baked version of their chicken for the more health conscious consumers. But really, what is life without the occasional fried chicken? Again, the chicken was perfect (including their wings...I ordered them after seeing that Chicken Wing Lovers rated them highly), the chips were perfect and everything was hot and ready to go when we got there. They seemed a little confused by the Yelp check in offer of a free feed pan but quickly gave us more chips (yes, I know, this sounds like an addiction). So, I came here based on all of the amazing reviews, and recommendations from people that I trust on here, and I gotta say, none of them disappointed me even slightly. I was first turned on to this place from a tip that popped up by Naz B, and so I added it to the back of my mind as a place to try out. Then, as I saw more and more pop up, I decided it was time to try it, so I got together with a few of my friends and we made the trip across the bridge. We showed up and had a little bit of a hard time finding it. In that, I mean, we found it, but we didn't know it was it. It's a VERY small entrance/store front attached to a larger repair shop or something, so it kinda blended in. When we walked in we were even more blown away by how small it was. 3 tables with 2 chairs each, all crammed in to the side along with a water machine to the left, and in front of us a counter with a tiny fridge with some bottled waters. We each grabbed a menu and looked it over. One of my friends figured out what he'd have pretty quick and went to order, the two employees kind of worried us at first when he asked what the "coop style" was and they shrugged and said they didn't know. When it was time to order a drink he asked what they had for choices. We were told (And this is almost word for word) "Uhm, well we have water...and our flavor for the day is water flavored... you can get warm water, or cold water...cup or bottle". A place with humor is definitely my kind of place to be. In the end we got 2 chicken sandwiches (Unknown coop style), with sides of chips, mac & cheese, and mashed potatos and I ordered the "small clutch" with a side of mac & cheese. Food reviews (we shared our sides, so I'll begin with those): The chips were hands down the best home made chips I've had, anywhere. They are the polar opposite to many I've had in the area. A must try if you're a chip lover. The mac and cheese was also among the top for that category, not the ABSOLUTE best I've had in my life, but definitely the best I've seen in Rochester. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who loves the M&C. The potatoes were actually really good too! You could tell that all the sides were home made, and they all tasted excellent. The sandwich, although I didn't taste it myself, both of my friends agreed that they loved it. The fact that they each devoured them in less than 5 minutes would confirm that. And now, my meal, the clutch. Three pieces of fried chicken. This was, without a doubt, the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. This includes competition from places in Rochester, Buffalo, and NYC. Obviously I haven't visited EVERYWHERE in all of the cities, but I've been to quite a few. The only thing I'm sad about is not having a smart phone to be able to take part in that check in offer, perhaps next time I'll make sure to drag someone along who does. My friend and I were on an unofficial mission to find the best chicken and waffles in Rochester. Another friend of mine, who had already undertaken this mission in the past, recommend BC's Chicken Coop. So off we went! The store front is very unassuming and easy to miss. The interior is very small -- only 3 small tables and maybe 6-8 chairs total. I recommend calling in your order ahead of time. You can bring food to the bar next door though! I got the chicken and waffles, which come with two pieces of chicken, two waffles, and two sauces (maple syrup and the special coop sauce). Eat both of the sauces with the chicken -- they're delicious! Chicken is very juicy, crisp, and flavorful. It's made to order, so you do have to wait quite a while (25 min in our case). I also got to try the green beans side, which I wasn't a huge fan of. But the mashed potatoes and cornbread are really excellent! I'm since revised my mission to find the best chicken and waffles in Rochester because I realized that I like fried chicken a lot more than I like waffles. Or at least fried chicken here. When I was eating my waffles, I realized that all I wanted was some more chicken... more perfectly cooked, crispy, flavorful chicken! I must start this review saying that I love fried chicken. LOVE it! It's on the top of my list to eat. But I am also very picky about it. It has to be moist, and flavorful on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Chicken Coop does this very well, in fact I think it's the best fried chicken in Rochester. First they season the chicken very well, then the actually fry the chicken in oil, no "oven fried", to order! So I order, and then drive to Webster to pick it up, it's usually ready when I make it there and then I proceed to eat their chicken for two or three days of bliss! Their home made hot sauce is very tasty, and their potato chips are probably seasoned with crack because they are so addictive! Honestly I have never been a huge fan of their other items, and sides, but really, when you do fried chicken the way they do it, and then make those amazing potato chips, I am more than willing to forgive anything else! read more

If you're looking for the best fried chicken in the Rochester area, look no further. As other reviewers will attest, it's definitely worth the trip to Webster. I was excited to try this place after reading so many positive, enthusiastic reviews, especially about the home made sides (called "Feed Pans"). My date and I split a "Large Clutch," which is six pieces of chicken on the bone and two large sides. We chose the mashed potatoes and gravy and the green beans. The 20 minute prep time synced perfectly with the time it took us to travel from the east side. BC's is very easy to find, just hop off Route 104 at Route 250, turn towards Webster. BC's is just on the other side of Ridge Road/Route 404. Look for the sign that says WEBSTER SHOE REPAIR and they are literally next door. Parking is wherever you can find it. I understand you can use the funeral home lot across the street as long as there is not a funeral in progress. The car was filed with delicious fried chicken smell all the way home. We raced upstairs and could not wait to devour this deliciousness. Coating on the chicken was crispy, not soggy. The chicken itself was juicy and flavorful. We had asked for sides of "Coop Sauce" and "Tweet and Sour" but everything was so tasty on its own, we forgot all about the sauces. Did I mention that the meat practically falls off the bone? The mashed potatoes were excellent, with just enough gravy to go around. The green beans were also very good, though I had never had them prepared with tomato sauce and bacon. No knock on the beans, they were very good, but the tangy tomato was not quite the flavor I wanted just then. Looking forward to trying their cole slaw and the mac and cheese sides. I'm looking forward to returning again soon, and trying some of their cutlets and may even their ribs. Hot, fresh, and made to order, what's not to like? Went here for lunch with a coworker on a Tuesday after reading the outstanding reviews for the place. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my coworker got the small combo (ribs, chicken, a side). I can say my chicken was outstanding, some of the best one ever had. The spice mix is wonderful and it also came with a spicy bbq style sauce and syrup that you are suppose to put over the chicken. Honestly it's almost a shame to pour it on the chicken because it's already flavored perfectly. The prices are higher than average but considering the quality you can't complain about that. Keep in mind the seating inside is minimal, heck microscopic. There are three tables with two chairs each and I don't think there is enough room to fill all of them either. Best fried chicken I've ever had! Perfectly seasoned and crispy, still moist on the inside. We tried the super combo. There was more than enough meat for the four of us. We opted for chips, Mac and cheese and cole slaw for our sides. There was a mountain of chips, which is good because they are quite addicting. The sides of slaw and Mac and cheese were excellent, but just a tad skimpy. Corn bread was good, but nothing to get too excited about. Have always liked the food and people at BC's. The owners and staff have consistently been friendly and committed to providing a quality experience for their customers. This was our first visit since the pre-COVID-19 era. It was also our first take away experience. Our order was the large clutch and it was generous enough for two meals with leftovers. The chicken was hot, crispy, moist and tasty. Believe me when I assure you this joint starts with fine, fresh poultry and treats it right! The accompanying sides were Cole slaw and green beans. The green beans were well seasoned and outstanding. A slow cooked style rendering them tender, yet firm; rather than the "fresh crisp bright green flash steamed for 3 minutes immediately after being picked" that some folks prefer. Southern is often slow. Savor it! The Cole slaw was creamy excellence. Pro tip..check in on Yelp as you order and score a complimentary side! We chose the house made Parmesan chips and thoroughly enjoyed them. When we picked up and paid I was happy to leave 20% gratuity. Recently moved to Webster and first time at the chicken coop yesterday! I love the family feel and that one of the owners was taking orders and making food. It felt very authentic and assured everything was fresh and homemade. The chicken was amazing! The homemade hot sauce was also some of the best I've had, and I'm a hot sauce expert! For sides, we tried the mashed potatoes and mac&cheese. The mashed was great- with homemade gravy! The Mac was pretty tasty. I'm excited to try the other options. We received a referral to come here, and after a little mapping we managed to find it. It's a smaller building and can be easily missed, but definitely worth the trip. It's a chicken themed place and really cutely decorated. It's a small space, but meets high standards. The owner was super friendly and helpful and was constantly ready to help us. The food came out quickly and was above amazing! We got the Hen House family combo and it filled our family of 6. The fried food was home made and not super greasy. We fell in love right away.
