Inside Nordstrom's is one of the better places to eat in the Domain. I've never had to wait for a table, and the service has always been top notch. There is a parking garage attached, and if you park on the 2nd floor, you can walk straight across, into the store, no stairs and no exposure to the elements. My regular order is the fresh berry and fig salad. Every time I have had it, it has been delightful. The berries are plump and fresh and all the greens are unspoiled. The dressing is evenly yet lightly distributed, and this salad is just delicious! I usually add a small piece of grilled salmon for additional protein. My husband's usual order is the salmon on couscous. He loves the greek take on this dish with the tzatziki sauce and feta cheese. Today we decided to change it up and try the grilled farm bread bruschetta and the prosciutto and arugula pizza. The bruschetta served by Bazille is different than I have ever had before in its chunkiness. It consists of a thick piece of bread, generous thick slices of tomatoes, pieces of fresh mozzarella, and pesto all drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Tasty, but not finger food! Bazille has its own pizza ovens, so crusts are fresh baked to order. The prosciutto and arugula pizza was very rich with its drizzle of olive oil, rich fontina and parmasean cheese melted over basil pesto. read more

When dining here with your back to the store, you easily forget that you're in a department store. From the full service bar to the freshly prepared meals, Bazille stands on its own as a legitimate fine dining experience. It's unlike any other in-store restaurant I've ever been to, as it could easily be the destination rather the store itself. IKEA meatballs and Costco hot dogs are well and good but Nordstrom's crab bisque and bread pudding are on a whole other level. It's also nice that they have a real bar with a large flat screen tv. Again, not something you typically see elsewhere. But I could see myself killing time there while my wife shops. And in that case I'd of course be indulging in that bread pudding. I've been coming here for 4 years now regularly. Rebecca(GM), Megan & Zayn (Bar Staff) are amazing and have always gone above and beyond for me. I usually order off menu(I'm that guy) and they question nothing, smile and accommodate without hesitation. The bar is always fully stocked of my favorites and the kitchen staff is always eager to please(boy do they deliver too). Such good food. This is my second time coming here, first time was for Valentines Day and the experience was excellent. Came here to give it a second try and we were just as impressed. The salad was simply amazing. I forgot which one it was but it had manchego cheese and strawberries that was simply amazing. The French onion soup was hearty, not too salty and was done very well. The arugula prosciutto pizza was just perfect. Our server was a total sweetheart. Super friendly, energetic and made great recommendations. She was also very attentive and made the experience even better. Don't overlook this place just because it's in a Nordstrom. Also the price was very reasonable too so you can have a great meal here even on a budget. read more

I went to a Yelp Elite event there last night and it was a great event. I missed the "happy hour" portion so I didn't get to try some of their appetizers but I did get there in time to have the "Stonewashed" cocktail. It has Junipero gin, violette(?) liquer, ginger beer, and luxardo cherry syrup with two luxardo cherries. (A staple of a properly made Old Fashioned). It was fantastic and it was a light purple color which was cool. The food was good, I liked the crab bisque with crostini, it was tasty. Small cup of soup, but it was delicious. The berry salad was very sweet and lightly dressed. It did have goat cheese in it, which really helped offset the sweetness. I love berries and I love salad but this was a little sweet for me, but the goat cheese was delicious. We had the chicken with angel hair pasta for the entrée. It was OK, the veggies in the pasta sauce were very fresh but it wasn't anything to write home about. The chicken and pasta were cooked properly and tasted OK. The bread pudding with the hand whipped cream and raspberry coulée for dessert was UH-MAZING. I don't even LIKE bread pudding and I don't normally eat dessert...and I would totally order this every time! It was not heavy, had a light crust on the outside, and the cream with berry coulée added a lightness to it with some added sweetness without being over the top. The servers and manager were great, the chef came out to greet us and talk about the food some. They evidently make almost everything in-house and use quality ingredients. It is kind of a weird location for a nicer restaurant, in the back of the 2nd floor of a department store, but worth a visit! They were wonderful hosts for our Yelp Elite event! read more

The good: Food was amazing! Both dishes I tried are a MUST. Margarita Pizza & Crab mac and cheese. I was told the secret recipe for the pizza is the NYC water. Don't know if NYC water makes a big difference but can tell you it was delish. My friend had the bistro club, didn't try it but she liked it. I did, however, try the fries (like every sane person would do) and they were amazing. The bistro french fries are paired with kalamata olive aioli sauce, WOW! That alone was amazing. Service was pretty great, although it was not very busy. The bad: This amazing place is in Nordstrom, yes in a clothing store. There's no other entrance other than walking to the back of the store (2nd floor). Fortunately, Nordstrom has a parking garage so parking is easy but Bazille lost a star for it's location. read more

They have a great patio area overlooking the Domain, and it was such a nice day when I went. I forgot which drink I had, but it had some rosé - it was very light and refreshing! Appetizers - Got 1 of each to share, everything is fairly good but the top favorites: CRAB STACK and AHI TUNA POKE. The crab stack was delicious, and the crabmeat was huge and so fresh! Also appreciated getting extra bread toasts to share it. The ahi tuna poke was seasoned perfectly & tuna was also very fresh! Also really enjoyed the CRISP CALAMARI - batter was very light and yums. Entrees - I got the chicken steak frites (recommended by the waiter) but it was OK for me. You get both light and dark meat apparently, and it's a whooping 1800 calories. The fries were good though, skinny and crisp how I like them. Got to try some of the salmon risotto, pretty good (very creamy) but the salmon was a bit dry for everyone. Desserts - Chocolate cake with housemade caramel was HUGE and so decadent and delicious. Also the creme brulee was delicious! Also they have french coffee (press) to end the meal, loveee ! (~4 cups of coffee) Service by a young gentleman was really great! Very nice & accommodating, gave recommendations, was on top of water refills all the time haha. I came on a Friday afternoon and ordered the pan seared chicken. While Yelp's photos show a two - paged menu, their menu is now one page. I waited fifteen minutes for my entree to arrive. They were able to substitute manchego for parmesan cheese for free. Portions were large and the entree came with two large pieces of chicken breast, off the bone. However, I found the skinless chicken breast to be dry. The server was excellent and offered to redo the entree, but I didn't want to wait another fifteen minutes so I could get on with my shopping. She offered a soup on the house, but none of their soups were cow dairy and gluten free. The server had an excellent suggestion of bringing a side of vinegarette sauce to make the chicken more palatable. If you're going to spend $18 for chicken, I would recommend walking across the way to Second Bar + Kitchen for juicy and crispy - skinned chicken. read more

Wow! Nordstrom has always meant quality and customer service to me. I basically grew up in dressing rooms at Nordstrom and other big department stores. It was my mom, my sister and I. They would try on dresses for hours and the ladies in the store would do their best to keep me entertained. Fast forward to now... I'm not big into shopping. But I do really like the Bazille cafe at Nordstrom! We stopped in after returning some items and buying a few more. We were not super hungry and wanted to sit outside in the 70 degree December day. They found us a great place on the rail with a view of all the holiday madness below. We decided to split a club sandwich and fries and a side salad. All were good and salad dressed perfectly. I also ordered a non-alcoholic basil cucumber mint drink that was awesome! I would have ordered a real drink but the prices were a bit high (it was on the weekend). The key is to go during happy hour during the week. Drinks are like 1/2 price and appetizers are reduced. My wife sneaks off here with her co-workers after work for happy hour some times but I can't blame her. It's a great atmosphere and the food is simple, fresh, clean, and well executed. If you know food, you know that a grilled cheese or club sandwich can be pedestrian and blah blah bland. Or, it can be something new, fresh and with a few twists (like fresh green beans in the sandwich for texture. Awesome!). The food was good; however, they're pretty heavy-handed with the salt. Even the salad was extremely salty, which made the meal a little hard to finish. I can't even begin to explain how happy I am that there's finally a Nordstrom restaurant up north. The Crab Bisque is easily one of my favorite foods ever, and now I can get it in the Domain instead of driving down to Barton Creek Mall. The flavors were perfect and on point with the bistro at BCM. I got a bowl of Crab Bisque and a half Bistro Club. They offer half portions on most of their sandwiches, although it's a better deal to just get the whole thing and take home leftovers. The half club is $9 as opposed to $13.75 for a whole. I thought it was a little odd that there was a 10 minute wait for a table for 1 when more than half the restaurant was empty, but maybe they were a little short staffed today. Hopefully that's not a normal thing. Service was friendly and prompt! The whole back wall is glass, so there's great views anywhere you sit. There's also seating outside on the patio. read more

My fiancé brought me to this place for my birthday dinner. He wanted something upscale and with good food. As we were walking through it seemed a little weird that we were walking through a department store to get to the restaurant. It was also weird to sit down and see a nice view of the domain on one side and a department store on the other. I could definitely see this place being picked up out of Nordstrom and being a stand alone restaurant. It might get more visitors that way especially since it doesn't look like you can enter any other way than the store. The selection is a little lacking but we found stuff to eat. And man did it not disappoint. We decided on the chicken lime tacos and the heirloom tomato/bruschetta type dish. Both were great but the bruschetta was outstanding. I told my fiancé that if anything could taste fresh, this was it. We couldn't get enough. We also got the chicken sausage which was also really good. We've be coming here for a few years. Once I tried it, I have never deviated from the Prime French Dip. It's simply the best one I've ever had. Everything is perfect, the meat, bread, the au jus is the best, most savory, rich, and flavorful au jus ever. To top it off the herb seasoned fries with the kalamata aioli is also perfect. My wife usually has (depending on menu changes) the chicken tacos and or the crab and avocado salad and raves about it as well. With all the options at the Domain, this is one of our favorites. I had mac and cheese and a beer in Nordstrom. Inside. The. Nordstrom. AWWWW YESSSSSSS. Nordstrom has always been one of my favorite stores, in part because if all else fails and your attempt to participate in American capitalism has been unfruitful, the little cafe inside most of their stores is top-notch eating, with menus of quasi-Northwestish fare, but geared more in Texas for landlocked ladies who lunch. This one is no different. I see they even have the crab bisque. I will probably be back for that soup at some point before Christmas. Holiday shopping sucks. The crab mac and cheese does not. It's an upscale take on the world's greatest comfort food, forgoing Kraft's neon yellow mystery sauce for a more delicate white cream sauce with chunks of crab and topped off with a thick layer of breadcrumbs and melted cheese. The little salad to the side was also tasty and a nice, healthy touch alongside the heavy mac and cheese, although I might ask for a tiny bit more dressing next time. Because I am a person of great class and sophistication who goes to eat mac and cheese with a beer in a Nordstrom, I also asked for some Tabasco with my dinner, which came out in its own neat little ramekin. While I'm more accustomed to aiming the sauce straight from the bottle onto my food, I've seen enough thoroughly disgusting bottles of hot sauce delivered to tables at restaurants that I've grown to appreciate anytime a restaurant puts a serving of hot sauce in its own freshly washed container instead. Thank you. Seriously. There was only one minor flaw with my dinner, which was obviously outweighed by having mac and cheese and beer in a Nordstrom. The beer in question was an unfiltered wheat beer, which probably needed to be turned upside down briefly before opening, just to distribute the bits floating inside more evenly. It was served with a glass that was too small for me to turn the bottle upside-down in the glass and let 'er pour all the way out that way. Instead, only about half my beer fit in the glass, leaving me with a second half that was cloudier than the first. Beer glassware is a highly, highly nerdy thing to nitpick, however, and I feel as if I should retreat among My People, The Nerds, for the sheer mention of it. (Or just drink from the bottle.) The waitstaff was attentive, and the space is dark, but in a warm and comforting way. It's a clear refuge away from the drudgery of shopping, with a glimpse of Nordstrom's silliest gift items peeking out the front entry. I had a great view of an inflatable gold swan pool toy where I sat. That *is* my aesthetic. Did I mention the sheer novelty of eating mac and cheese with a beer in a Nordstrom, of all places? Because darn it if that's not convenient and awesome all at the same time. read more

The restaurant is on the second floor and would not win any awards for its location. But the quality of the dishes certainly made up for it. We had the Brussels sprouts (which are mixed in with a delicious sausage), heirloom tomatoes made with a beautiful balsamic dressing and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad comes with anchovies on top, so beware and the dressing was a little too flavorful and overpowering. Solid and somewhat overlooked spot in the Domain Northside. They have a separate but open feel up on the 2nd floor, so you don't feel like you are in the middle of a department store. We've stuck with one drink, one appetizer, and entree salads on both visits. The appetizers are the weak spot here. The bruschetta is a deconstructed version, more like a Caprese salad with bread. Which would be OK if I liked Caprese salads, or it had been described that way on the menu. The 4 cheese flat bread also disappointed with a prosciutto that was way too salty. The salads, on the other hand, did very well. The salmon was light and flaky both times. The Asian salad was well balanced. The Ahi Tuna had a fine piece of fish, nicely crusted. However, the wonton had a fiery spice that threatened to overwhelm the whole dish. Service is friendly and efficient. The hosts were not as welcoming as I was hoping they would be but I was glad to be seated promptly because I came opening day and was told a 40 minute wait. Sat in a nice little half booth next to the window and was impressed by the aesthetics of the restaurant. Nice see through kitchen, nice open outdoor second floor patio, cool hip music. I was given wonderful service throughout my dine in from my server Sarah. The manager even came by and comped my appetizer because it didn't come out before my entree. Great professional ettiquette show by the servers and everyone on staff. The food was delicious too. Got the calamari, shrimp salad and bazille burger. They were all delicious. Go here every Tuesday with my Mom. We love their ginger peach iced tea. We get the chicken cilantro tacos and I order the kale salad. Both are fantastic! This was my Valentine's Day dinner date with my boyfriend of 4 years. Let me start by saying we have both worked in service industries and totally understand having a "rush" or super busy days. After arriving to the restaurant we were promptly seated at a table. The restaurant had a great 3-course special menu for Valentine's Day and we both quickly decided on what to order. We were not greeted or addressed by a waiter for over 20 minutes. Again, understanding it's a busy holiday, we remained patient and tried to enjoy our evening. When we finally ordered food/drinks, it took 15 minutes for our wine to be served and no water was provided or offered. We waited 40 minutes for the first course to come out (we've been seated an hour at this point). This being our first experience at Bazille, I was not sure if this was the norm or if they were just that busy. The butternut squash risotto was really pretty good. We continued waiting for our main course (filets) and after being seated for an HOUR AND FORTY-MINUTES we walked out of the restaurant. The worst part was AT NO POINT did our waitress or a manager address what was going on. In fact, it seemed like our waitress was trying to avoid us. On the way out, I asked to speak to a manager and ONLY THEN were we notified that our meal had accidentally been given to the wrong table (the one behind us). Upon being told that, I recalled overhearing that the table behind us received the wrong order (our order) and the waitress immediately apologized to them and brought them complimentary wine. LET ME BE CLEAR- had I not asked to speak with a manager NO ONE would have addressed our poor experience at Bazille. Only after requesting to speak with the manager, were we offered a free meal at which point we declined and left the restaurant. Probably the worst dining experience I've ever had, made more disappointing by absolutely incompetent management and staff. It probably goes without saying, but I will not be returning to Bazille. read more
