Some comments (too long) on our recommendation of Bayside Builders group based on repair and renovation work that they did over the past couple months. We live in a nearly 100-year-old East Bay house, which needed some TLC. Bayside Builders Group did the following work for us: mold remediation; wood flooring repairs; floor refinishing; dry-rot related structural repairs; new-construction replacement of two living room windows; exterior stucco repairs; interior drywall/plaster repairs; and re-painting the entire house exterior. We were very pleased with the efficiency and quality of all of the work that was performed (all permitted (as needed)), beginning with our initial contacts with Eldar and Tal (our project managers with Bayside) and continuing with the work done by Mattias and his crew. We won't comment on each portion of the work performed, but we'll mention a few things that we were particularly pleased with. First, we realized we probably had a long-term leak in on corner of our living room. Our initial contacts with Bayside were with Eldar and Tal, who were among a number contractors we considered. We selected Bayside for several reasons. We liked the analytical, stepwise approach suggested by Eldar and Tal (first to address the mold which would then allow us deduce the origin of the leak). We liked that they would be a one-stop shop, therefore able to address new problems that we might encounter as the work progressed, and we liked that they were able to (and did) start the work relatively soon. It turned out that one window had likely been leaking for years, and we decided to replace both of the old living room wondows. Second, when beginning the window replacements, it became clear that the dry-rot situation below the bad window went down to the foundation sill, which required fairly major structural repairs to proceed. It was great that Eldar, Tal and Mattias were able to pivot fairly quickly to address these repairs! The quality of the window replacements were excellent ... the exterior trim work, the interior moulding work, the stucco repairs, and the interior drywall repairs were great. In particular, the crew did an amazing job of texturing the drywall to match the surrounding texture of the older existing paster, as well as an amazing job of interior painting of the repairs. I should mention that the crew completely covered the wood flooring to preclude any damage to the floors. Third, with all of the exterior work done, we decided that now wood be the time to paint the entire exterior and to replace our old gutters. The Bayside crew did a great paint job, beginning with a large prep effort to repair cracks in the old stucco and to carefully caulk as needed. Then a coat of Killz2 primer and 2 coats of high quality (sherlock) final paint. At one point, during house prep and priming, I think there might have been 5-6 Bayside crew working on the paint job! Fourth, all of this work is necessarily somewhat disruptive. Can't be avoided. That said, we were happy that Eldar, Tal and Mattias were able to schedule the work efficiently, such that when a particular portion of the work started, it kept going until completion. We didn't experience the on/off job work that we had sometimes encountered in previous repair/construction work with others. Lastly, my only other general advice, regardless of what contractor is chosen, would be to find out as much as you can, as early as possible, about the permitting requirements of your particular municipality, so that everyone (customer, contractor, permitting agency) is on the same page. Again, we were very pleased with our experiences with Bayside, and we would choose them again, in our case, especially if we need any further window or painting work. read more

Great overall experience with Bayside Builders. As many have mentioned they are not the lowest cost option but neither were they the most expensive. After receiving several bids for replacement of my exterior staircase, which had begun to deteriorate and become unsafe, I ultimately chose Bayside due to the initial great communication, vast knowledge, and perceived track record. Met first with Jacob who was a great knowledgeable patient guy, who provided answers to all my excessive questions. He was quick to respond and come out to review the project details. He walked me through all the options to ensure I was comfortable with my selection. Overall he was a great guy and sold me on moving forward. Once work was scheduled, he ensured I would be in good hands with team executing the work. Work was done quickly and efficiently. The only item that could've been better was if there was proactive communication at the different phases of the project. The workers were almost on autopilot as they have done these type of jobs countless of times but I was looking for a bit more eager hand holding and visibility at commencement/end of the different milestones. I only got this when I would reach out to Jacob who then connected me with project foreman. I attempted to give the foreman my number for easier communication but instead he used the home office to route messages to me. Unfortunately this caused issues to be remedied retroactively. Issues that could've been avoided, instead added a little extra time to the completion but were still later resolved or left in a better state. Ultimately, this did not take away from the quality and efficiency of the work. They assured me that if any issues were to arise afterwards, I could call them any time so that they could provide insight and/or remedy. The whole process seemed very professional from the documentation provided (contract, licenses, insurance, etc.) to the solicitation of feedback on my satisfaction of the project. I would definitely reach out to them for future home improvement projects as according to them, "They do it all!" I definitely feel my new exterior staircase is safe to traverse and of better quality that will hopefully last for many years. read more

We recently completed a master bathroom remodel in Alameda, and we are extremely happy with the results thanks to Nicko and Gilberto. They transformed our old bathtub area into a beautiful walk-in shower and completely updated the bathroom with large format porcelain tile, a floating shower bench, recessed niche, linear drain, and a modern bidet toilet. From the beginning, they were very responsive, professional, and patient with all my questions. I asked many detailed questions throughout the project, and they always took the time to explain the process, materials, and installation steps. The tile installation and craftsmanship are excellent. The large wall tiles are perfectly aligned, grout lines are clean and consistent, and the details around the bench, niche, window, and shower floor mosaic were installed with great precision. You can really tell they care about the quality of their work. They also handled important technical details such as waterproofing, shower slope, electrical outlet installation for the smart toilet, and overall bathroom layout, making sure everything was done correctly. All city inspections done with no issues. The finished bathroom now feels like a modern spa -- bright, clean, elegant, and very relaxing. The combination of the marble-look porcelain tile, mosaic shower floor, and lighting created a space that looks both luxury and timeless. If you are looking for a bathroom remodeling contractor in Alameda or the East Bay, I highly recommend Nicko and Gilberto. We hired Bayside Builders Group (BBG, for short) to rebuild our front deck, make some repairs in the back deck, do maintenance of the porch, repaint the entrance door and install new weatherstrips in that door. The contract was prepared by Shai Drihem who explained to us the details of what they were proposing and promising to do. Most of the work was done by Isaias and Tony (with the help of a few others on several occasions) who were skillfully directed and supervised by Rodrigo Matias (and also by Eric Rodriguez). Unfortunately, the redwood posts and boards which BBG got from Ashby Lumber had too many knots spoiling the appearance of the deck, although BBG apparently had no control over that. The crew worked very efficiently and completed the main part of the project ahead of schedule. We were especially impressed by the versatile skills of Isaias, Tony and Rodrigo Matias, and their excellent job on building the deck frame. The only thing that we were initially unhappy about was the finishing of the redwood railing (and, especially, of the handrails). Nevertheless, they were very responsive to our critical remarks and returned several times to make the necessary corrections to our complete satisfaction. Overall, our rating of the entire job done by BBG on our project is four and a half stars. read more

After interviewing three other companies for our second-story deck construction project we decided to move forward with Jacob (Project Mgr.) at Bayside Builders group. From the architectural design and engineering requirements we knew from the beginning that this was not going to be an ordinary deck project. The deck height exceeded two stories. The deck super structure required heavy duty construction materials that could safely support the added height and weight requirements, but Jacob and his team were up to the task. Jacob, Mattias his foremen and the entire Bayside team were there with us through the design permitting and construction phase. We replaced windows with doors which required stucco and interior sheetrock finishing and painting. Jacob was instrumental in making sure we utilized the best materials and skilled crew. He hooked us up with suppliers that could offer bulk pricing on decking, glass railings, doors, and other materials. Jacob personally made sure that we were 100% satisfied with the finished product as designed and as quoted with zero cost overruns, No Surprises!! The finished deck is an engineering marvel; our grandchildren love the newly created outdoor space while we sit and enjoy the views of SF Bay. read more

I started my bathroom/kitchen renovation with trepidation and FEAR! I knew that my house would be In disarray for several weeks, and I had some trust issues with contractors from the past coming into this project! We had our ADU staircase, kitchenette and washer/dryer hookups done by Bayside. During the recent atmospheric river downpour here in San Ramon our staircase leaked wreaking havoc to the stairs waterproof material and thus water leaked inside our garage walls and floors. Bayside was our second contractor to see the water damage after the first contractor rejected the service possibly due to the dry mold that ensued due to the water leak. After seeing the damage and the construction service we requested for Bayside to demo and install a new staircase, kitchenette and washer/dryer hookups for our ADU we all agreed to a price that works for us. We had Bayside Builders Group remodel our kitchen, and overall it turned out great. Avi, our project manager, was helpful and really guided us through most of the decisions. The team worked hard and most of the details came out really well, though there were a couple of small things that needed minor adjustments afterward. Our old kitchen felt cramped and outdated, but now it feels much more open and brighter. The cabinets and countertops fit nicely, and the backsplash really finishes the look. What we appreciated most was that the crew communicated clearly most of the time and handled any questions quickly. They were careful in our home and mostly left the space clean each day. Cooking and spending time in the kitchen is much more enjoyable now, and even with a few small hiccups, we feel the remodel was worth it. Nick and Omri were a dream to work with. My husband and I wanted to renovate our small backyard space for some time now so that our children had a more functional, safe place to play and for us to host. Contracted workers were outstanding! Quality and precision of their work is the best my wife and I have ever seen. Contractor is a large company with many projects going at once. This made it difficult to contact the supervisor at the first level sometimes and he was only on site part of the time given his responsibilities for supervising other sites at the same time, but the on site workers knew what they were doing and didn't need much supervision. These guys were professional and terrific! Second level supervisor above the first was always available by phone and kept the project on target and on time. The managers chose their workers well!
