100% happy with the final result! I needed an art studio, and natural light was my biggest priority. Shedmania delivered on that completely. I had a 12' x 16' studio built with a lean-to roof and skylights, which make the space feel much larger, and allow me to work without relying on artificial light. The structure transformed an overgrown, unused part of the backyard into something that now feels like an extension of the home, and seamlessly integrates with the garden. If I could give 10 Stars, I would. From start to finish these gentlemen are real professionals. A reasonable price for a high-end product. I reviewed six different options before making a decision. Based on referrals from other friends who worked with Shed Mania, they just said go with them and they will make your life simple. Boy was that true! From consultation and interview to design and material selection to execution, the process was smooth and under 5 weeks. They even built a little deck for my shed which has now become my home office and lol. They're so good that I'm thinking about building a real ADU next door to the shed, through Shed Mania... We reached out to Shed Mania and a few other shed building companies for a custom build. We were initially a bit hesitant because of their sales person but once John and Song stepped in, we knew they were the right fit for us. They helped us sort through MANY questions around size, permits, shape, timing etc. At the time we knew some features we felt strongly about and other features we really appreciated the collaboration to sort through. John and Song were quite the duo in this way and were patient through iterations of our build. They kept to an on track schedule, even through the rainy season. There were some bumps, the crew was a little messy in the backyard (we have a dog) and they were quick with getting them to clean up. We had a couple of issues working with Milgard for our custom windows that I wish were caught sooner but the guys went above and beyond to give us options and make it right. We're in love with our new shed. It came out exactly as we imagined and was on schedule. John and Song were great partners along the way. I hired Shed Mania to repair and redesign my external one car garage to turn it into an office and storage space. I had a general idea of what I wanted to do, given the space and structure available to be, but John and Song were able to make that real. Given their schedule, it took us a month or so to get started, but that fit well within my summer timeframe. Their work ethic, work quality, and finishing skills were awesome. I've had a fair bit of work done on my house and working with a contractor and crew that communicates consistently, arrives when they say they will, and deliver on schedule are unusual. As part of planning, there were also opportunities to spec upgrades like wood flooring and dimmers, and have a skylight installed. I contacted Shed Mania because we have two kids, a large enough backyard and needed an extra office to retain our sanity while raising young screaming children. John contacted me after I sent a note through Yelp and he and Song, the design engineer, prepared a quote which included everything we wanted. Once they visited our backyard, Song noticed that a deck would be a great addition. We agreed. The design was sent over to us for our approval on time and with the entire scope of the project laid out. Once the work commenced all of their team acted with courtesy and professionalism. They came when they said they would and cleaned up very well at the end. I couldn't be happier with their team and how they operated. As for the shed, we LOVE IT! We took PG&E out of the equation and made it 100% solar/battery operated WITH heating and AC. Battery technology has made this type of shed/office the new standard IMO. Love it. I loved how customizable everything was (ex: external dimensions, type of foundation, placement of the windows/outlets, roof material, interior/exterior paint, flooring, etc.) - we were able to design it to fit our needs exactly, which for us was space for an office desk (including fast internet, obviously!), space for stretching, and a wall for storage racks since we don't have a garage. Incredibly kind and clean. They did very good work. The Shedmania detached 120 sqft shed was the perfect solution. Now I have a very nice get away where I can be productive in the backyard. When comparing adding an additional room to a house vs a shedmania shed, shedmania is not only a better cost savings solution but a better all around solution if you need a quiet space to work. We originally were planning on having this work done in April but Shedmania was able to fit us into their tight schedule in December. The team operated so quickly it was pretty incredible to watch. The foundation was poured on 12/7 and I was able to move my office into it on 12/23. I've included some progress photos for the first week or so of the construction and the completed product. The shed has the following features: -On concrete slab foundation -Well insulated (I will go in the morning and temp will be at ~46 degrees F and after turning the mini split on to 70 it gets there in under 30 mins and has no problem staying there) -Electrical ran from the house panel -Ethernet hard line ran from the modem in house -8x3 deck -Laminate floors -French doors -Two 5x3 side windows -Composite roof After all the recent rain I'm happy to report no leaking. It is a south facing structure so I am exposed to the sun through the french doors but I installed some black out shades to use for sunny days and the problem's solved. If I could give 6 stars, I would! John and Song are amazing. They are experts in stretching the allowable "non-habitable" structure requirements. These structures might be categorized as "sheds" per city codes, but they're really just small houses (minus the plumbing). John handles the business communication side, and he's very responsive and communicative. He was able to walk us through the details of the shed and pricing over the phone. After we put down the initial deposit, we only had to wait for about one month before John was able to assign us a team to start building. The entire building process took only 3 weeks (no permit means no waiting for city inspectors!) We could spend all day in here, if only we didn't need to use the bathroom.
