I had a very disappointing experience at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center's Emergency Room. My daughter was crying in severe pain from what appeared to be a migraine or severe headache, and before deciding whether to check her in, I simply wanted to ask if the hospital had the appropriate equipment and specialists to treat her condition. If not, I was prepared to take her elsewhere. Unfortunately, the receptionist, Jessica, was on her phone when I approached. When I asked my questions, she was rude, dismissive, and spoke in a condescending tone. Rather than showing empathy or helping us understand our options, she responded, "This is an emergency room hospital," in a way that made it clear she didn't want to be bothered. As a parent with a child in tears and obvious pain, compassion and professionalism matter. Instead, I left feeling like my daughter would not receive the care or attention she needed. Because of that interaction alone, I made the decision to drive 40 minutes from Kyle to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin. The difference in care was night and day. From the moment we arrived at Dell Children's, the staff was compassionate, attentive, and made us feel like my daughter's well-being truly mattered. I understand working in an emergency department is stressful, but there is never an excuse for treating worried parents and children with such a lack of empathy. First impressions matter, especially in healthcare. I sincerely hope Baylor Scott & White addresses this, because no family should feel discouraged from seeking care due to the attitude of the person greeting them. read more

Had a couple of health issues this past year and BSW Buda ER was top notch in getting me treated quickly. The receptionists are a bit slow to process things sometimes and it can come off as cold. But the nurses and doctors really do go above and beyond here to treat you. I was given IV fluids quickly for nausea and dehydration. While on my second visit they didn't seem to find anything concerning i wish they would have given some pills to take home vs waiting for the pharmacy to open at 8am to get them. Otherwise all good and recommend if you need quick treatment. read more

I'll address both office visits and surgery. The parking for any service you need is ample for anyone that needs to visit a doctor for whatever reason. I've found my appointments to be timely and I'm never waiting for long to see my doctor. The nurses are quick to get vitals and are completely professional. I'm generally in and out within 30 mins or so. When I meet with the doctors, they've actually reviewed my chart so there isn't much of a recap that's needed. For surgery I found the whole ordeal to be simple and devoid of stress. The one caveat I'll mention is if you're going in for a procedure, they require a friend to pick you up. This was a small problem for me as I was anticipating getting an uber home. However their policies, justified imo, are someone needs to sign out the patient and give them a ride home. So please take that into account if you have a surgery. The day of the surgery was smooth sailing. The front desk reports you to the right floor and the nurses are quick to meet you and prepare you for surgery. After scrubbing down and getting into my robe, I had a small wait as I talked with the nurses, operating doctor, anesthesiologist and finally to make sure payment via card and/or insurance is correct. The patient is asked several times what they're having done to ensure the patient consents to the upcoming procedure. I'm not good with surgery as it drives up anxiety. I was administered preop medicine to prepare my body and reduce stress. Once they got my IV flowing my concerns were diminished and I was out before the ride to the operating room. My surgery was a success and was almost to the minute that the doctor quoted me for surgery. I woke up in minimal pain but it took time to regain my senses. The nurses were right there taking care of me. Quick to address pain, give a status update and make sure I was comfortable. The next day I was in pain in my neck so I called the nurse. She reassured me it was part of the operation procedures and my medication address the pain as best it could. Overall my surgery was a breath of fresh air with no complications. All the staff was professional and prepared for my every need. I highly suggest using this facility if they offer the services you may need. I highly recommend this facility. read more

The pain exploded in my hip and I collapsed on the floor in front of the ER check in desk after warning the clerk multiple times I was about to do just that from the horrific sciatica pain boiling inside me. While my friend checked me in I looked up from the flat of my back to a large uniformed gentleman who said "you can't be on the floor." You can't make this stuff up. On the way to my suite a nurse repeated how I "can't just lie on the floor." Yeah, I'm aware. Wasn't a choice. These are all nothing but a bunch of company men/women, towing the line. Not sure I can blame them, but that's what they are. To my surprise I was discharged after I received a brief exam, steroid shot and prescription for a muscle relaxer. The nurse shoo'd me towards the exit but I could barely walk due to the searing pain emanating from my hip and lower back, so I hobbled back to the ER bay I had been in. They were annoyed their latest ATM machine was back and tried to get me to leave. I just physically couldn't. The pain was indescribable. It overwhelmed me. I explained how I couldn't walk, stand or sit. I couldn't function. I couldn't go to the bathroom and I needed help. They gave me a percocet and made sure I understood I wasn't getting another one and I needed to pay my nine hundred dollar bill and head on down the road. "You'll just have to figure out how to lay down in the Uber" they suggested. Gee thanks. When I get home and can't bend at the waist to sit on a toilet, or get off of it for that matter, what then. They didn't have an answer. They gave me ten minutes to let that percocet begin working, which it never did, and this time the "doctor" escorted me out to make sure I didn't turn around and go back again. Even though my symptoms had still not changed. They didn't care. Even though I cursed and moaned at every painful step, they were annoyed I had chosen their hospital. They had checked all their boxes, their job was done. I left five hours later after laying on the bench in the foyer, waiting for my back to get to a point where I can fit in a car without passing out from pain, which never happened. I wept all the way home stuck between the captain chairs of a 2017 grand caravan unsuccessfully trying to adjust my body some way that wouldn't cause intense pain while the poor Lyft driver who had the unfortunate luck to draw my name fumbled apologies and offered comfort as best he could. Do no harm huh, what a joke. This cost me nine hundred dollars. I hate you. I hate all of you. read more

Impossible to get appointments with primary care doctor there even after hospital discharge with sepsis, no follow up appointments available for us until January. Not good at all. We like our doctor but if we cant see her for follow up after a sepsis hospital stay, this is unacceptable and dangerous read more

I don't have health insurance, so when I realized I had a stomach issue, I had to do some "shopping around." I was able to get ahold of BSW via telephone, but as is typical of these things, it was quite a complicated phone tree of droids and being on hold. Multiple times I got transferred from the scheduler to the financial counsellor and back to the scheduler, and each seemed to be blaming the other for being uncommunicative. But eventually I got my appointment for shortly after Christmas at a time slot that was good for me; thankfully I was able to skip an appointment with a general practice doctor and go straight to a specialist in gastroenterology... which was really good since it would mean one less expensive bill and faster solution to my issue. I was informed to expect to pay $126. The day arrived and I went to the clinic. They checked my temperature and asked about COVID-19 symptoms before I went in; they had hand santizer available at checkpoints. I went to the check-in counter and signed new patient forms. I wasn't a fan of them asking me to sign documents without being able to see them, but at my request they did print them physically for me to read first before signing. Then I was told I owed $210 for the visit. I contested that, mentioning I'd been quoted $126. The receptionist went back to talk to some manager or some such, then came back to tell me they would honor the quote, but hereafter the price would be the $210. Fine. Next I waited in the lobby, which was clean and had lots of reasonable comfortable seating. Didn't have to wait too long to be seen; spoke with the nurse first who confirmed my info, then waited in a room for the doctor, Dr. Shah. He listened to my list of symptoms, asked questions to try and understand more, and ultimately suggested I do a breath test for H. Pylori, but warned if it was inconclusive I might need an endoscopy. So next I went back to the waiting area for the receptionist to call the financial department to get me information on the cost of those procedures. The breath test was "cheap" at $164, but the endoscopy would ring up at almost $3,500. Yikes. Seems steep to me. Anyway, I paid for the breath test, waited longer to be called back in. The nurse doing the breath test was obviously in a hurry and juggled me and another patient simultaneously, which didn't seem all that professional or respectful of privacy (not that I care, but that's still supposed to be an expectation in the medical field). I didn't quite hear some of her instructions and asked her to repeat them, but she didn't. Thankfully I'd looked up what to expect for an H. Pylori breath test on the internet on my phone while I'd been waiting. (By the way, their free wifi is crap.) So the procedure was successful and I was told I'd get a phone call with the results in 1-2 days. It took three, but whatever. Thankfully it came back positive (aka, no endoscopy needed... dodged the bullet there, I would've had to resort to shopping around for a cheaper one elsewhere cuz who has three and a half thousand dollars just lying around?), and the employee on the phone was actually helpful and kind about getting me set up at my pharmacy of choice and recommending I use GoodRX since they'd prescribed me four (not cheap) antiobiotics. So now I'm on them, and hopefully on the mend. Don't know if I'll be expected to go back for a check-up to ensure it worked... don't really WANT to if it's gonna be $210 + $164 for another breath test... I did sign up for their online thing so I could look over my medical information. Hilariously, Dr. Shah had set up four "recommended" future tests (ah yes, the typical money grab), including, get this, a pap smear. I'd told him I'm a transman with no uterus or cervix, so not really sure what good a pap smear is going to do there, bro. I also saw that I have an upcoming bill, which makes ZERO sense because I paid out-of-pocket for the procedures I had in their entirety the day the services were rendered. The online bill showed charges for things that never even happened while I was there! So I get to look forward to contesting that over the phone. Like... do they just send random bills to patients, hoping they'll pay it so they can get more money? What the hell? Anyway, ultimately a really mixed bag. Some good employees, some not-so-good employees. Upside my condition is being fixed. Downside is all the money I had to pay. I hate the medical industry in this country, and BSW seems to be taking advantage of people like me who can't afford health insurance. read more

As a wanna-be patient, I couldn't tell you about the physician I was scheduled to see, because this mismanaged, amateurish business erected so many barriers to access that I finally walked out. (and that's AFTER advance E-Checkin for my appt!) As a career businessman, I'm astounded at the top-to-bottom systems and training failures. Management is completely out of touch, self-isolated from the incompetence of their own front desk. As an area citizen, this hospital is unprepared for the area's population growth. If two staffers take combined 30 minutes but still cannot properly check in a patient *who already checked in electronically*, then how will they ever handle a rush? Or an emergency? Garbage systems, garbage training, garbage management - go elsewhere. read more

I asked one month ago for my doctor to refill my partial opioid during my appointment. I have chronic pain and have been on this med for six years, monthly, at the same exact dosage. I'm deathly allergic (seizures and anaphylaxis, anyone?) to any other medicine in the class that works for my type of pain. She went on vacation without filing the medicine. My pharmacy sent in two refill requests over the past week, I've called twice, sent messages through my chart and eventually visited the office twice. Until today, I was told she would respond same day to these messages and that's she's there. Nope. She's been on vacation and will be for another week. So I ask to talk to the doctor on call, he a then accuses me of being a drug addict and says I need to take a drug test; even though I'm happy to prove that I take my meds as prescribed he then says even if I took this test he won't prescribe anything and that "this will just a hard lesson about waiting until the last minute". Since when is waiting until a month before the refill date "waiting until the last minute"? When I corrected him he said that the pain medicine helping was all in my head and again said I was obviously abusing my meds. So thanks Dr Guerrero of Buda. I hope you don't deal with many chronic pain patients because your bed side manner is horrendous. You obviously hold a bunch of disdain for patients who can't help the fact that they are in pain every day. read more

I hope to never have to return to this place again! Friday night I brought my husband to emergency. Front desk was very kind. ER was not busy. I believe my husband was the only patient. Came in about 10pm left 1:30am. I believe the scans and blood tests is why we came out so late. Scans revealed Diverculitis and acute pancreatitis. My poor husband was in pain. level from 1-10 he was about a 6. Sent him home without pain killers but instead called in to pharmacy. Here comes Saturday morning, I go to try to pick up his meds from HEB pharmacy. not ready until afternoon.( that's another story) My husband was in even worse pain. while I was at the pharmacy my husband takes himself back to the ER!. It would not have happened if the doctor actually gave him some meds to take home. So now my husband is back in the ER waiting room Saturday morning(double the hospital fees), I walk in and he's literally on the floor in pain grunting. You would think Front desk(different girl) would give two shitz of a care. Nope. I would approach her twice, does nothing but says we will take him back shortly. only one doctor on staff and he's busy with a patient. (only one patient, ER not busy). my husband screaming in pain and again I approach her, I ask her, isn't there a nurse at least that can take him back and administer the morphine? She's busy with the doctor. Finally, they take him in after 20 mins. ok here we go with the same routine. No scan this time around but another blood test. But here's the kicker, Hey, Your triglycerides are at 2,000! what? and not a mention of it from yesterdays blood test? you would need to follow up with your own doctor I dont deal with triglycerides he says. Mind you its Saturday . He's supposed to go the whole weekend worried about his triglycerides. The doctor could have given him something for it until his appointment. Or given him insulin to reduce it. But they just sent him home without medication. Now we are stuck with Double the hospital costs read more

In Oct, 2022, I used BSW, for the first time. The doctor mistakenly wrote the wrong reason under primary diagnosis for insurance submission. I noticed the error when my insurance company declined to cover the procedure. I disputed the case with BSW three times where they stated that they only review if their insurance code matches the doctor's diagnosis. They said each time that the doctor cannot change the diagnosis for insurance reasons, even though I explained that he wrote an incorrect diagnosis. I was able to get the doctor to correct the diagnosis after three months of disputing the case. By that time, BSW said that it would look suspicious to resubmit the diagnosis to my insurance company because it would appear as if I were trying to get them to cover the procedure ( no shit!). I was upset and disgusted with BSW and their incompetence. If possible, avoid BSW, they say they care about you, but I believe they only care about making a buck. They truly suck. read more

After reading some reviews I was honestly pretty nervous to take my 1 year old daughter here. She spiked a 103.5 fever late on a Friday night and this was the closest place to us. We took her to the ER to be treated and she was brought back by the nurses within a few minutes. From the people in the front to the nurses/doctor everyone was great! The nurse/doctor that saw my husband was nice, but other than that DO NOT COME HERE! I brought my husband in two nights ago for a laceration on his knee. The clinic was closed at 5:30PM for what ever reason, but the ER was open. We walked in and explained that this was a non emergency and that the clinic was closed. They were aware that the clinic was closed. We didn't want the ER prices and we didn't want to drive over to the next town. We tried to leave and the nurse/doctor ran after us to tell him that they could still see him. They sent me to wait in my car. When he walked out to the car 2 hours later, I found out that they told him he needed to pay his whole bill then and there. She rang his card up when he asked about a payment plan, she said that she couldn't void the transaction. He asked for an itemized receipt and she denied him one. He asked for a discount because he didn't have insurance and was denied. I knew this was wrong. They charged us about FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS for 8 stitches on his knee. I went inside and asked for an itemized receipt. She denied me one and said I'll have to call billing. They're required to give one. I found out through billing that not only should they have given us a %40 percent discount for not having insurance, but they should have made accommodations and our bill was supposed to be around $2300 before the discount. The billing lady said she sees the extra money that they charged and doesn't know what it's for. Basically,they just added random amounts to our bill. Had we not called and complained to billing,we wouldn't have had our bill brought down to $1200. The billing lady agreed that it was pretty shady that both receptionists wouldn't let us see the break down and now I know why. You have some scammers at this location. Around January 13th, I called EMS. I was sicker than I have ever been in my entire life. About a week later I found out that the reason I felt so sick was because every time I stood up my blood pressure dropped. EMS did not want to take me because they feared I had covid. They said they didn't want to get covid in their truck. I got mad and got the strength I needed to have my son drive me to the hospital. As I had been telling everyone for the previous days, I think I was having a diverticulitis attack!! That is a severe gut infection with a possible gut leak! I kept telling everyone this and telling them that I was having pain and that my legs were killing me, just like when a person is nauseous!! I didn't want to die so I let them test for covid and the doctor proudly told me that I had it, even though I wasn't coughing. They never did a c-scan or scan of any kind!! Dismissed me with painkillers. 3 days later my daughter drove me to a hospital in a different town, where they found diverticulitis with accompanying complications. It is my opinion that Baylor is getting paid per covid case and that this emergency room doctor is lazy!!! I am still recuperating after being sick for 7 weeks now. All of the stress from my gut has caused my insulin resistance which was under control to climb to higher blood sugar numbers and my liver enzymes to climb to a dangerous level!!! Also, while in their room while they refuse to let my daughter back to be with me, I have nightmares of screaming help me! help me! When I was having an episode of intense pain!!! Finally housekeeping came to empty the trash and she didn't understand what I was talking about but she could finally tell when I said Doctor and she went to go get help!!! I was in tears and now I'm traumatized and have nightmares!!!! Also I told the nurse that the blood pressure cuff was so tight that every time it came on it cut the circulation off in my arm so bad that my fingers curled up and we're turning blue!!! She was a cold-stone of a person!!! The emergency room wasn't even busy that day!! I don't understand what they put me through and still want to cry just like I did that day crying for help!!! Stay away from this emergency room and make the drive to San Marcos!! All emergency rooms are going to make you wait because a lot of the hospitals have been making lots of money on the covid cases but the good ones are crowded because they're good!!! Who knows, maybe this hospital is racist because I'm Hispanic and I got the treatment!! This is all my opinion of course!! It's miserable to have been sick for almost 2 months!! 2 months!!! My kids kept me alive!!! 24-hour care!!! Don't go to this Hospital until these reviews change!!! read more
