Dr. Damyanova is kind and patient and very knowledgeable. Some of her office staff on the other hand, are often rude. This past weekend, I needed to get a copy of my prescription and I called several times from 9-11 am with no answer. Turns out the front desk staff had turned the ringer off because they were "too busy". Maybe they were, but at 11:15 when I walked in, the office was empty. Just got off the phone with them. I've always used this place for both my glasses AND contact needs. The only problem would be the wait during appointments and I understood that. However, what really annoys me is the fact that they say they don't have my file for my contacts, like the measurements and such. I just find it ridiculous because I could always just call in with no problem and pick my contacts up, but now I have to pay $120 for a new test because apparently they don'd have those records & the first time I got the exam done it was $120 INCLUDING the 6 contact lens for each eye, NOPE just $120 for the exam. Like how? Never had i had a problem with them until now. like how unprofessional do you have to be to lose part of someone's file? read more

Horrible!!! This place must think everyone in Lynn is foolish. Poor community so they think they can get away with poor service. Take your money to Lens Crafters. They cater to mostly mass health clients here that aren't used to traveling for better service so they know they'll always have clients they can take advantage of that don't know what a good job is. My brother went to get lenses put it and they blamed his prescription on how thick and horric the glasses looked. NO!!! You do a crappy job here PERIOD! My older brother took a pair of Cazals here the messed them up so badly. If you don't know how to work with glasses like Cazals just say sir we don't work with these kinds of frames. He had to have his glasses sent back to the company to have them fixed. Back to my younger brothers glasses recently Please see the pics I have attached here. They thought this was acceptable? They are okay with this being their work? They aren't ashamed to just be handing people glasses like this?? Lens crafters sells quality frames, does quality work and marks their glasses with pride. I've been going here for two decades (except for a brief time where I didn't have insurance they accepted) Dr. Anzaldi is a more-than-competent doctor and the staff is helpful. The technicians can come across as brusque but it doesn't take long to realize it's just a veneer and they're helpful and professional. Service is great--if you need repairs on your glasses, they usually can take care of it immediately, without charge. *Update--what happened to this place? I think they now double-book the appointments. I was finally seen by the doctor 45 minutes after my scheduled time. They've taken away a lot of the chairs and amenities in the waiting area. The exam was adequate but I felt the new technician rushed me and when my glasses finally came in, I wasn't called and informed of it, like in the past. I only found out when my wife went in for her exam a few weeks later. Sorry to see that Rich no longer works there. I'm done--I've moved on to another optometrist. read more

Rudest optometrist I've ever had in my life . He talked to his assistant saying that me and my mom were "wasting his time" just because we told him we needed a new pair since my moms old glasses broke. Had to wait 40 minutes longer than actual scheduled time. Horrible experience. read more

Went to pick up my daughters glasses and the first thing we encountered in the parking lot was a rabid raccoon, so that should have given me a clue as to how our experience would be. The girl working the reception desk couldn't even bother to look up at me. Then she thought I was trying to scam them out of a pair of glasses! Our daughter had already gotten one of her two pairs of glasses. The girl said "I was about to start a fight with you!" Nice customer service! Where do I start???? First of all, they are not pleasant at all. Then, they also gave me a sticker to sign stating that I had been "given and read" the HIPAA information book but I hadn't been given anything to read. When I asked the receptionist why was she asking me to sign if she didn't give me anything to read, she caught an attitude and say "well, would you like to read it?" This is punishable by law. You have to have patients read by handing the HIPAA disclosure form or it must be displayed in the office in a place where it is easily found. The doctor also not a very warm doctor but okay, I didn't come to make friends. However, he did NOT ask me about my past medical history! I actually had to give information to him without him asking! Was going here for yrs. Ordered the same green contacts for yrs. My very 1st order of contacts from them was 1 pair of green, and 1 pair pf hazel. 3 yrs later, and several green pairs of contacts, i call and order another pair over the phone, go and pick them up, open them to put a pair on, and they were the hazel ones. Call them and advised this was obviously their mistake, and the male dr gets on the phone, saying how only an idiot would not check the contacts 1st before opening them, like as if I worked there, and it was my job, (the paying customer), to ensure that my satisfication was met, before i opened them. As if the color is all over the box. I kept the hazel, and never will back until that rude, ignorant phd holder retires, or gets fired the many complaints he gets. read more

Anyway, fast forward to present day, I didn't know my step mom ended up taking my younger sister there. I suggest you find another another provider if you need an exam and glasses. Not satisfied at all. Glasses for distance make my vision blurry. Exam too quick. It seemed that the Optometrist just wanted to get me out of there. Medicare covered my exam and I paid for glasses that were suggested for distance. Cannot use them. I can see better without the glasses they prescribed. Will not go back, even for a correction of the lenses on these glasses. Did not feel welcome or well serviced. Worst place ever. It is absolutely true that the employees here HATE their job. You will never get a smile out of them. I actually challenge you to try. I got an exam and inevitably, my glasses, and the glasses didn't work! We actually had a discussion about how the glasses were making me see double now, and they handed the glasses back to me. I had a very positive experience with Dr. Damyanova and the staff at Bay State Eye Associates when I recently needed an Exam and new glasses. I found that both she and Ulysses, the Optician who formed the lenses and fit the glasses, were very patient when I needed to return to confirm the Rx and adjust the fit. I recently went here for the first time and say Dr. Damyanova. I just needed a simple contact lens prescription update and I think she was wonderful. She took the time to examine my current contacts and make sure that my eyes were in good health despite the fact that I was not paying for a full eye exam. She gave me good advice on maintaining my eye health and recommendations for how often I should be having a comprehensive eye exam. The office staff was also very nice. The woman at the front desk as friendly and welcoming. They were having trouble with the credit card machine which resulted in me waiting quite a while to pay, but she was pleasant and apologetic throughout. I do however have 2 minor complaints. The first being that they called me just 3 days before my appointment (which had been scheduled for almost 2 weeks) to change the time of my appointment because the doctor was not going to be available. They were very nice about it and got me in earlier the same day which was wonderful, but had I not had availability in my schedule to accommodate the change it would have been very difficult for me as I really needed this appointment. The other complaint is that I waited about 30 min for my appointment, but this is not all that surprising to me as I wait at just about every doctors appointment I go to. Overall I was impressed with this practice- especially given some of the negative reviews on here. Also, I dont have vision insurance so price is very important to me. They have the best prices on the north shore as far as I can tell which is another bonus. Overall I would highly recommend them. read more

Forced to give at least 1 star - they don't deserve even a half of star. I've been going to Bay State Eye for a few years now (entire family of 6). After today I will find another eye doctor. I showed up at 12:25 for a 12:30 appointment. I was ignored for the first 10 minutes i was there. At 12:50 i decided I had wasted enough of my time. Not a single patient was in there except me. I asked if the doctor was running behind schedule and i was told "no, your the only appointment". I left without being seen. Obviously this practice doesn't need the business or clients. I'll take me business to a chain establishment. I try to support small business, but this place doesn't want my business. read more

The screw fell out of my husband's glasses the day before we were going away. I needed to get them fixed in a hurry. Brought them in. They fixed them in about 5 minutes for no charge. It was a great relief to both of us. read more

Dr. Anzaldi has been my eye doctor for over 20 years and he is TERRIFIC. He has a great personality and spends as much time as needed with me until all my questions and concerns are addressed. The equipment he has is all computerized and state of the art in his exam room. The frame selection area is very upscale. His office has lots of designer frames to choose from like Gucci, Prada and Dolce and Gabanna. I was helped by a very nice lady in selecing my glasses and they called me the next day to tell me they were ready. Excellent service from a caring Doctor and his staff. read more

THE WORST PLACE EVER. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. The so called 2 eye drs. there dont have a clue on what they are doing and i have been wearing glasses for 35 years. I went for a simple exam and contacts fitting. I saw the woman eye dr first she didnt no what to do ,could not get my eye glass or contact prescription right . I had to go back 2more times to try to get it right but nooo. Does she really have a diploma or did she get it on the internet. Then i had to see the male so called eye dr.to try to get it right but nooo. First he is very rude and acted like it was my fault, cause the female dr. couldnt get it right. He said that he will have talk to her cause she supposedly gave me the wrong script. The funny thing is that he gave the wrong script to.I went back a total 5 times still wrong script what a joke this place is they should be shut down cause there getting away with murder. DONT GO HERE!!! I do not recommend this place to anyone. I went in to get some glasses and I am covered by masshealth so they pay for my glasses. I found out that it would take 4-6 weeks which is long but I didnt mind to much. It has been about 7 weeks now and I called to find out if my glasses were done knowing they must be done by now and I was VERY DISAPPOINTED to find out that my order was never put in!!! so all this time I have been calling to check for them and the order was never put through so now I have to WAIT ANOTHER 4-6 WEEKS!!!! there are so unprofessional, I went to pick up my glasses and they told me that if I was such in a rush to go to the prison and get them because the inmates are the ones that make the glasses, then I went to pick them up they didn't even measure my lens on my face and didn't even ask it the lens were a correct vision. The optometrist is healthful and nice, and they provide a quality eye glass efficiently. However the entire staff is lackadaisical and slow moving. The receptionist will ignore you and leave you waiting a long time to see the optometrist. Good glasses, abyssmal service. read more

I was recommended by my daughter's pediatrician to go there for her eye exam. I had not heard of this place nor been there before. But from last Wednesday's experience I wish I had never gone there. I had always thought when you go to a business place, they would have that welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Nope, not this place. It was my first time bringing my 6 year old daughter for her eye exam and we were in the waiting room. She decide to try some glasses on the floor and wore one of them in the exam room. What I was about to witness was the most uncalled or unprofessional thing a specialist should be. That optometrist used the rudest tone of voice (very high pitch) yelled at my daughter and me for wearing one of his glasses. I couldn't believe this and was beside myself. What a JERK!!! Yelling at me and my daughter like we were animals. I just wanted to get the hell out of here!!! I will NEVER EVER go to that place EVER again!
