I spent over $700 out-of-pocket on a pair of glasses, and my insurance paid for the rest. Within a month a lens scratched and Advanced repalced it. Less than a year after my purchase what looked like a grain of sand became embedded in a lens. Also I noticed the red paint was starting to chip from the metal frame. I came in and immediately the person at the counter said something like sorry, we no longer carry that brand. Not understanding why that should be my problem, I asked to speak to the manager. He was pretty rude & said there was nothing that could be done about the paint and then acted like he would do me a big favor - rather than standing by his product - by replacing the lens, while trying to make me feel like this was my fault. He expalained that he had the same brand glasses and multiple children who were regularly grabbing them off his face, yet he never had a problem with these glasses. That's a great story, but I'll never return here!

You literally lied to me so what happened was I got a prescription and they sold me some frames so first you tell me the frames are $1200 I'm on disability I'm disabled. I can't afford that. Let me see what I can do give them to you for $700 and the reason why I'm gonna give it to you for seven dollars because For a whole year if anything breaks on it scratches will fix it for free for a whole year less than six months the glasses broke bitch. Tell him he told me oh yeah you have to pay to get it fixed, but you told me the manager you told me that it was covered yeah I know I said that, but you have to pay is this even legal then he says I'll fix it one time for free then now it's all no void no what happened to my 12 month warranty on top of that let me tell you on top of that he says and you can't even get the frames that you paid for you have to pick out a different set of frames. How is that? I just got to be illegal

I do not recommend this optometrist. I was a patient for 30 years. Never in that 30 years was Dr…read moreYoon on time. Figuring she was busy, I started scheduling the first appointment of the day. Nope. She was still at least 30 minutes late. This was to every single appointment in 30 years. Not once on time. And late by at least 30 minutes. But the absolute worst, almost unforgivable was she completely changed my eye prescription. After an exam, she stated and wrote that my left eye somehow went to having no vision problems. I have astigmatism in that eye. There is no way that could happen. I'm 56 years old. They filled my contacts with that prescription and when I put them in, I got really sick due to having basically nothing in my left eye. I still wanted to give dr yoon benefit of the doubt, I mean she is the doctor, so I tried to walk to my car to drive. Well, I was so dizzy I fell down on the cement. At that point, I knew I couldn't drive and I looked at my contact boxes and realized she had made a mistake. I walked to Banville wearing my old glasses, and they argued with me. They told me I was wrong. They literally acted like I was crazy. They finally decided to give me my contacts in my old script and expected me to pay for them. Then I had glasses made, thinking they would use my old prescription. Nope. Again. The left eye was basically just plain glass. I decided to go to another optometrist for a new eye exam. As I suspected, Dr Yoon somehow completely messed up my exam and Banville was pushing a fake, very incorrect eye prescription. I went to get my new glasses fixed from Banville because I figured they should replace the lens for free. They replaced it, but reluctantly. This was the craziest experience I've ever had. After 30 years of waiting for Dr Yoon to show up for every appointment, now I'm literally arguing over an incorrect prescription- not even a slight error- an error that could have killed me or another person if I had driven. They never even apologized. Instead they treated me like I was crazy. One good thing- I found a new optometrist that has brand new, state of the art equipment that actually works and gives customers the correct prescription. And he was on time!!

Since using this prescription I have had a huge increase in headaches and nausea, and my vision markedly regressed. I went to see a new optometrist who ran all of the usual tests (but with actual computers and new technology, as opposed to everything being from the 70s like this place), and they told me that their machine rarely says 0 astigmatism for a client, and it did for me. I was also informed that the prescription for my right eye was 2-3 points too strong. Their technology is out of date and clearly they do now know what they are doing. The receptionist is also incredibly rude. Go elsewhere.

Paula, the admin /office person has always been helpful, even on one occasion dropping off a new pair of glasses at our house, saving us the trouble of going in to pick them up. Dr McHugh has years of experience. He doesn't have all the latest computerized gear, but we've been happy with the glasses prescriptions he's given us. *** In my case, he suggested cataract surgery, which I had done last year. He also caught a wrinkle in my retina, and sent me to a retina specialist for that condition (which, honestly, I didn't even know was a thing until it happened to me). Plus several years back he caught the beginning of macular degeneration, and advised me on what kind of protective dark glasses I should wear when I'm out in the sun, and where I could get them. *** Prices for new glasses are higher than some other places, but I chalk that up to their being a small, independent business. You can take your prescription and get glasses for cheaper at Costco, but we continue to buy new glasses through Salem Eye Associates for the convenience. *** As far as personalities go, both Paula and Dr McHugh are somewhat reserved, but with us have always been friendly and helpful. If you want bubbly, outgoing people, maybe look elsewhere, but if you want a quiet office and an eye exam you might give them a try.
