Poke places are a dime a dozen in the area, having so many places popping up in cities all around socal. Most places are fairly average and do not stand out of the pack, unfortunately, this place falls into that category. I saw the high reviews and praise on Yelp which drew me to try it, but left the place disappointed. I ordered a regular poke bowl which comes with 3 scoops of fish for around $11. (The large, 5 scoops, comes out to around $14) The fish and toppings options seemed fairly standard, with avocado being $1 extra. The two major things that I look for at a poke place is freshness and portion sizing. The salmon and spicy tuna I ordered was fresh and tasted good, however, there was little that I could taste because the portions we're quite small. I mixed my entire bowl together and the fish:rice:toppings ratio was off, with the bowl being mainly rice. With fish being the star of poke, I was quite disheartened to see how lacking it was at a pretty high price point. By the time I finished my bowl, I was still not satisfied which is never a good sign. Parking was fairly easy during the afternoon as it is in a plaza that is not too busy. The decor and interior was clean and bright which is always a plus. Overall, I would say Bay Poke is another pricey and average poke place that can be lost in the abundant amount of offerings in the area. I wouldn't make the trip out to try it, but you could grab a bowl if you are in the area; otherwise I would take a pass. read more

Pretty simple menu here-- regular and large portions are around $9 and $12.50 respectively. The poke was fresh and balanced, and the place was pretty clean. I had previously happened by the Irvine location on a whim, and that's how I made my way into the Pasadena store. Poke is one of those foods that always leaves me wanting more-- tasty and good, but for protein eating Neanderthals like me, I think I could eat 20 scoops in one sitting. Chips, the Macaron ice cream sandwich, and a fountain drink or coconut water helps fill you up. This small chain isn't fast food prices, but I've definitely eaten worse fish before at other places, so I may happen back in here when I'm looking for a snack. If I'm going to gorge on raw fish, best to catch them myself, or barring that, but a few big fillets at the market and make my own poke at home. Still, this is easier and delicious. Can't say I'll make a point of visiting again, but I'm sure I'll find my way back. read more

I frequent Poke places time and time again, and this was my first time at Bay Poke in Pasadena, coming hungry from college just a few miles away. Parking is in the same plaza as Vons, and other stores. This location is really clean, indoor and outdoor seating, and doesn't have that nasty fish smell when you walk through the door! The employees are super nice and informative. The Poke tasted very fresh and every bite was into perfection. The fish portions are cut a little bit too largely, but they are generous with their amounts. You can practically get extra anything! Extra ginger all the way! They have many different drinks, ranging from coconut water to green tea in a can. The overall price is a little bit expensive but location matters and if you want good quality, this is the place to be. read more

We were sad to see Buzio's Frozen Yogurt leave but when I saw Bay Poke pop up in the space, I was excited to try it. We received a 10% off coupon in the mail and figured we'd give it a try. The place is newly renovated and was very clean and inviting. There were quite a few people working the line behind the counter so service was pretty good. It was busy which I took as a good sign- we had to wait about 10 minutes. They make it pretty easy to choose what you want as it's all "chipotle-style" dining. I went down the line and chose a regular (3 scoops of protein vs large- 5 scoops of protein) of ahi tuna and brown rice and topped it off with cucumbers, seaweed salad (my fave!), edamame, crab meat, ginger, corn, house sauce, sesame seeds and crispy garlic! It was all very good. My only complaint is that the sauce was a bit bland. Maybe next time I'll try the ponzu sauce or add an eel sauce drizzle on the end. However, I wanted to grab a quick lunch and headed to this location. The fresh, clean interior of the restaurant was very nice. What I like about this poke place was the variety of choices they had. From spicy salmon to albacore, there were a great amount of fish selections and fixings as well. Also, the price is very reasonable! I bought myself the bowl with 3 proteins for around $9! In addition to the great price, the line and stations went by in a smooth, orderly fashion. Just stopped by in the middle of the day, the experience was good. I usually go to the poke restaurant in Long Beach, this is the first one I been to in Pasadena. So, generally food is good, but a little bit off my expectation, might be related to the light flavor. This is my first experience when it comes to the Poké craze. That said, I am pleasantly surprised at how tasty a bowl with rice, Ahi tuna, albacore, Salmon, & a plethora of other fresh toppings can be. I added avocado which is an extra $1.00 but very worth it! On top I also added all the fresh toppings including the variety of fish eggs(very tasty) into my bowl. Every bite was very good. This place is amazing. It's a tiny restaurant, as the pictures show, but because what they offer is so good this place is constantly busy. That's a testament to what they're offering and their overall quality. The large poke bowl is indeed very large. I double up on salmon and shrimp. Very yum. They give you free reign with a huge variety of extra toppings as well. It's a great idea. Large portions, a great variety of free additional toppings, creative sauces and fresh seafood and ingredients. I don't actually live nearby by but have already been here a few times. My boyfriend thinks he may have gotten sick from the food, so my review will be based solely on my experience, since we had different fish. They have several different selections to choose from that it's a little overwhelming. I got the regular size bowl and it was plenty of food. I tried the albacore and tuna with a few different veggies, ginger and brown rice. The restaurant is very bright, clean, and inviting. The staff is friendly and helpful with the selections. Everything seems fresh and there was always a steady stream of people coming into order. Prices are reasonable and you get a good amount of food. Please keep up the quality of your fish! I've been to several poke places that started out great and headed downhill from there. For the time being, Bay Poke is legitimately good! I got a Regular size bowl (three scoops of fish) with all tuna and the tuna quality was surprisingly great! No sinew-that chewy white stuff so many poke restaurants have. In my opinion, this place and Pokeworks is the best I've tried-and I've tried pretty much every poke place around! The new one at the Arcadia mall isn't great because of the price and also because their tuna always has those chewy white pieces. One thing I really liked is Bay Poke offers tobiko (type of fish egg, not the orange masago kind) for free! We will be back! read more

Yesterday around 7pm on a Wednesday I decided to go out for some poke. I'm fond of this place a lot, and rely on their fresh food. But as soon as I entered there was just a FOUL smell of rotten decaying fish. Gross! I was hesitant but I had already placed my order online and took it home. When I got home to eat, the salmon was a little darker than usual. I was a bit concerned because the restaurant smelled real bad. (I have no idea what they do when it smells like that but it gave me the impression that something had expired.) Anyhow, I was being positive and whatnot but today, (Thursday) I'm SHITTING my ass here and the restroom stinks like the restaurant. I definitely know I got FOOD POISONING and now I'm not sure if I want to go back with that traumatic experience specially if it smells that bad in there. I loooooooove coming here for poke!! the workers here are always so generous with their scoops and they also don't charge for additional toppings, i always thought it was such a scam when poke places charge like a dollar extra for another scoop of corn or something. for protein, i love their savory tuna and spicy salmon. they have squid too but i believe it's marinated in ginger which i personally don't like. they have so many options here that you could add to your bowl, like mandarin oranges which i've never seen before but now i always have my poke with it. they also have a wide variety of unique sauces that i'm not adventurous enough to try, and lots of other food / drink options on their menu (like poke burrito, fruit teas, milk teas). they even have dole whip. bay poke goes above and beyond as a poke spot and i definitely reccomend giving it a try! read more

This place is truly a solid place! It's not the best in Pasadena but it's pretty good and the staff are so friendly. It's my second go to spot and sometimes 1st because of convenience to my house. I always get a small with half salad half white rice, and my own qualm with the place is that unfortunately the salad tastes kinda dirty. Maybe it's the kind they use, I'm not really sure but unlike other places I just taste too much of the salad when I get it here. The fish is really fresh and tastes delicious. I love their spicy tuna and especially their spicy salmon. The marinated tuna is also really delicious and one that I swap the spicy tuna out with occasionally. The toppings are pretty good here because of their wide selection and the staff is very generous with portion sizes of toppings and sauce. They don't really overdo the portion on the fish which I wish they would but they definitely don't gyp you so for that reason I can't complain.
