Got takeout from this spot and had a good experience! I did takeout from the Yelp app and liked that it showed me updates about my order directly in the app. The food was ready in about 20 min, which is great timing in my book. I was greeted at the front by one of the staff and they got my order to me right away. I did have to remind them about my mango Lassi, but by the time I reminded them there was already another waiter walking it over to me. I got the paneer tikka masala and it was lovely. Very much a comfort food. The mild was a little mild in flavor, so I might get a mild/med next time to add a bit more oomph to the dish. Generous serving of rice and the mango lassi was lovely! I will definitely come back for takeout and hope they make an appearance on some popular delivery apps soon.

Ordered the BBQ meat platter and beef Nihari. The BBQ was great but the nihari didn't have enough flavor or any ginger in it. Service was okay too.

I dine at this restaurant occasionally. It never disappoints. Great family run place. Super friendly people. The menu has a lot of great choices. Appetizers are delicious. I will definitely keep coming back for the amazing Indian food. They knock it out of the park every time.

Bay leaf is one of my favorite restaurants in Bothell. Family owned and run, the food is outstanding! My favorite appetizers are the chicken pakora and dolmathes. The chicken is crunchy and comes with a unique, tasty sauce. The dolmathes are classic grape leaves with good herbs. Main dishes that I love are the butter masala and the Chile chicken. You can't go wrong with anything you get here though. The Biryani is spicy. Full bar for those who fancy a drink with dinner. Classic decor, rarely too busy. Wonderful service.

Went in around 6ish on a Friday evening. The staff were very friendly and courteous. They did keep checking on us (probably she must be the manager or the owner is my wild guess). Ambience was also good. These are the items which we ordered - Paneer Tikka Appetizer - good Chilli Paneer - very good Gyro Platter - very good (loved the meat texture and softness) KARAHI (GOAT) - very good Garlic Naan - good Chai - good, felt great after getting wet in the rain Kulfi - good They do serve alcohol as well. I would definitely recommend this place and would visit once again later. Parking is a pain if you are totally new to this location. It would either be street parking or the parking in the garage behind (all spaces were marked resident parking, so I am not sure which one is reserved for the restaurant). You can probably park in the town hall parking across the restaurant.

Fun place to stop by! There is lots of seating options and a private party room. I got the pomegranate gin and tonic and it was tasty. It wasn't too sweet and just the right balance.

We've been here twice for dinner now and both times we were left wondering why this restaurant wasn't packed. It's a family-owned Indian restaurant with delicious food and genuinely kind service! The garlic naan is some of the best we've had--soft, buttery, and packed with flavor. And the coconut chicken curry is absolutely incredible. Rich, creamy, perfectly spiced, and savory chicken --comfort food at its finest. It's been pretty empty during both our visits, which is such a shame because this spot truly deserves more love. If you're in the area, skip the chains and support this local gem. You won't regret it!

We have gotten takeout from here a couple of times and finally had dinner here recently. They have a lot of seating space inside, and the service is friendly and quick. We got Tandoori Chicken, Goat Curry, and Tandoori Roti. We loved the Goat Curry, Tandoori Roti and Tandoori Chicken were good. For dessert we got Kulfi and Rasmalai. Both our desserts were very good, the Kulfi portion was double of what were expecting.

The mezze platter was pretty decent. Had a good number of traditional Mediterranean options . The falafel were crunchy and delicious The Indian food though was a disaster. Absolutely bland and cold when served. Onion pakora was just onion rings dipped in batter. It's not the traditional pakora we get Overall the ambience was good but the Indian dishes that I tried weren't great. Definitely not impressed

They were careful about my gluten allergy and had plenty of options. Nikki was our server and she was friendly. Our group tried Indo-Chinese and they loved everything. I tried the peshawari chicken. It was nice and creamy. Nikki did tell us that it was only one big piece of chicken which was helpful because we were ordering family style. We still ended up ordering it because the rest had Indo-Chinese (not GF). I'd be back to try some other things on their menu.

I love the music playing in the background, and the Mumbai themed décor is so unique and thoughtfully done. It really adds to the whole experience. Coming to the food, I specifically went for the happy hour chaat platter. I reached around 6:56 PM, and the platter is only available from 5 to 7 PM. Initially, I could not find it on the menu, and our assigned server was different. However, Rohan recognized us from our previous visits and came over. When I mentioned I was there just for the chaat platter, he kindly checked and found the menu for us. He let us know it would take about 20 minutes to prepare, which we were completely fine with. The platter arrived in about 20 to 25 minutes, and it was absolutely worth the wait. Everything from the bhel puri, pav bhaji bites, samosa chaat, to the sandwich was delicious, flavorful, and very satisfying. The chai was also really good. Highly recommend this place for both the vibe and the food. We will definitely keep coming back.

We grabbed the Rajma Chawal and Chole Bhature for mains, they were decent enough to hit the spot. The snacks were where it got a little tricky. The Ram Ladoo and Kachori Chat tasted good, but they were barely lukewarm. Kind of a bummer since you really want those hot! On the flip side, the Lamb appetizer was incredible super soft and juicy. Definitely the star of the show. We finished with desserts and they totally saved the day. The Kulfi Falooda was 10/10, and the Shashi tukda was the perfect sweet finish.

The ambience was pleasant and lively, which set a nice tone for the meal. We started with the Kachori Chaat, which unfortunately was just average - not bad, but nothing memorable either. Next came the Butti Ka Murg, and this completely changed the experience. The chicken was juicy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Easily the standout dish of the night - absolutely delicious. The Amritsari Kulcha was also excellent, with great stuffing and good taste. However, the chole served alongside it was just okay and didn't quite match the quality of the bread. Drinks were decent but nothing special. Overall, the food had some real highs and some middling items. We felt the pricing was on the higher side for the value and consistency offered. Would probably come back for specific dishes (especially the Butti Ka Murg), but not necessarily for a full meal.

As someone who does not have access to an auntie, I cannot claim "authenticity" ... but I can claim Butter Chicken Indian Kitchen serves GOOD food, especially for Gig Harbor. LOGISTICS / AMBIANCE Located next to the Harbor Museum, there is some parking at the very front of the restaurant but I imagine it's OK to overflow into the museum parking, especially when it's closed (that's what we did). I suppose this place qualifies as a "hole in the wall" - it's easy to miss off the main road due it being in a smaller building (think like a gas station convenience store). We were able to get a seat for 3 on a rainy Friday night, but I would call ahead for larger groups of 5+ to check seating availability. Despite the small building, it felt cozy without being cramped. They have an extensive menu so I would take time to look through it while you wait for a seat, but the staff are friendly if you have any questions about unfamiliar items. Sure the lighting isn't flattering... but there's a certain "hole-in-the-wall" charm to the place, from the lanterns on the tables to the smell of curry wetting your appetite. FOOD Unfortunately we were with someone sensitive to spicy food and we wanted to share dishes... so my partner and I had to lower the spice level on our dishes. Unfortunately the 2-3 range was pretty mild for our dishes. Though tasty, I would have liked a little more heat so something to keep in mind. Since we had ordered two saucy dishes, we got two servings of basmati rice in a "handi" ( the copper pot) that kept the rice warm. The basmati rice on its own was very good and fragrant; I even found a cinnamon stick in one of the pots! It went really well with two curries. Fish Korma (lvl 3 spice): Of the two curry-esque dishes I tried, this was my favorite. The creamy sauce was super flavorful with a harmonious blend of spices, super tasty on rice or with any of the provided condiments. I seldom see fish as an option but this was a surprisingly great combination. Tandoori Chicken (lvl 2 spice): This was our favorite dish of the night - it may sound basic (you see tandoori chicken at a lot of places) but it was REALLY good. I liked how the chicken was really juicy and had a nice smokey flavor and char from how it was grilled/serves. The hot plate was a nice touch to keep it warm as well! Definitely squeeze a little bit of the lemon to give it refreshing acidity while eating it warm. I do wish we went higher on the spice rating here since it could have benefited from having more kick, but it was still delicious! Dal Makhani (lvl 3 spice): This was our least favorite, but I had some bias since I was expecting this dish to be something else I had before (need to research more about the variations). I was expecting it to be more creamy with flavor, but it felt a lot more like a tomato-forward channa masala w/ lentils. Still delicious, but not what I was expecting. This also felt a little more spicy than the Fish Korma despite having the same spice level. Garlic Naan (1 piece): Always a must have w/ Indian food! I like eating it with the curries and adding on the complimentary chutneys. The perfect side carb (after basmati rice) for the sauces! Strawberry Lassi: This was was a complimentary surprise, as I think the owner/manager came by and provided them at the end of the meal. They were delicious and a great way to end the meal with a sweet treat! Plus the yogurt helps with digestion or appease any lingering spice effects on the tongue. OVERALL Honestly this place exceeded our expectations - pricing may seem a little high but they're actually on-par with other Indian places I've been to in Seattle and the Bay Area. The portions here are generous especially with the rice - so plan on taking home leftovers! We couldn't finish everything between 3 people and we were starving when we arrived. As a former Gig Harbor residence... I remember a time when this was a little restaurant ran by a sweet Australian couple and a killer cocktail menu. That was years ago, but I'm glad another diverse restaurant option has taken up this space in a town with little variety. The service nice and I could definitely see myself checking out this place again when I'm in the area. All in all, if you're feeling adventurous and want to try something different but delicious... check out Butter Chicken Indian Kitchen!

Each curry came with rice that was nicely fragrant. You get to choose your spice level, so we chose 7/6 for our dishes. I personally could have gone spicier. My favorite was the Chicken Vindaloo. There was so much depth in flavor to the dish and had that addicting taste. The butter chicken was also good (that was ordered at a 6 level spice), but I think because it's creamy, I could have gone spicier. In both curries, there is a decent amount of protein. The naan like the other reviews say is thin, but has a nice crisp to it and is still very good. I'm giving this 5 stars in comparission to other spots in Port Orchard. If it were in an area that perhaps had more Indian food, then I might give it a 4.5. I will definitely be coming back though.
