Well, it turns out, after working to get the first case open, it had rain water(!) in the case. Took my van in to get a new key fob programmed and some kid brought a little handheld device out with him and he spent maybe two or three minutes and then he said well we just can't do it and he didn't really give me a decent reason but they still charged me $75. The only reason I came here was to recycle an old lithium ion battery from a cell phone repair. My experience with their actual batteries has been hit and miss so I figured, what the hell; I'm just recycling a battery. I walk in and the guy looks at me and goes "ohh, ahh, mmm" and wants to look at it. So I show it to him and he goes. "Oh no, we can't take that we're not allowed to." Not allowed to? "You have to take that to the county recycling facility" I pointed out that I checked the website and they explicitly accept non-removable lithium ion batteries from cell phone repairs with a fee mentioned in some cases. He ignored me so I drove across town and sat behind 10 other cars for 35 minutes so I could hand them a tiny lithium battery the size of a business card. I gave them an another chance and they handled it this way; And with a rotten attitude. FYI, their website still says they will take this battery as of today. Oh well. You had your chance. read more

I bought a battery for my truck on 9/9/21. Last Friday, it had gone completely dead, .16 volts on the meter. It would not take a charge at all. Back to the store goes I. They confirm that it was at .16 volts. Then they informed me that unless they could charge it to at least ten volts, they would not swap it out!! What? How does this even make sense? On the face of it, this is a defective battery! If it won't take a charge at all, hows it going to charge at all, much less ten volts!! I've been buying batteries for over fifty years, and pretty much have an idea how things work with them. Whoever made this policy needs to attend battery school. I'm pretty angry about this, and I won't let my shadow darken this store ever again. Beware those who are considering buying a vehicle battery because effectively, there is no warranty on them! read more

I took my mobility scooter battery in because my scooter was beeping which means low battery. They told me my battery was strong. Just like new. So I used it for months beeping off & on, thinking it was a different problem. I finally got the money to take it in for repair and they told me i just needed a new battery as it was very low. They also told me that the people working at these battery stores are not properly trained, as there is a certain way to check these type of batteries. So, don't go there thinking they can help you with your battery unless you already know that is your problem. read more

I'm happy to say the last replacement battery that I received has worked for me perfectly since I've received it back in Aug of 2019, I believe. I had one incident where I left my ignition on all night long and my truck would not start that morning. All I had to do to fix it was, I turned the ignition off and let it sit for about 40 minutes then went back and it fired right up without jumping it like a good new battery should. Here's the facts: I needed my older iPhone 5s battery replaced. Not only was Batteries Plus Bulbs cheaper than Apple ($69 vs $79) But if you make an appointment online you get $10 off making it $59. Apple's warranty is for 90 days while Batteries Plus Bulbs is for 12 months. Apple's turnaround was 2 days to a week. We were on a road trip to SLO and stopped by Ventura around noon, saw this store on Yelp and decided to fix my daughter's iPhone 6 screen. The staff was nice and offered a discount which brought down from $79 to $59, but it was basically a price match with a previous local store we inquired. The fix was quick and we got the phone back and everything seems working. Then on Friday evening the phone just cracked after putting down normally on a table. Not only that we just noticed that the white pain fell off the top edge screen which never occurred before (see picture). I called the store and asked if they can fix it at a reasonable price given that we just shelled out $59 just three days ago, and their answer is $59 is the best price. Really?? read more

Since my previous review got the response "call the store again", I've tried for weeks and weeks with no answer. Finally, when I was in Ventura, I drove to the store to discover it was closed for "Covid". So we followed the employee's earlier advice and went to the Kia dealership, where we were told us that Batteries Plus sold us the wrong key fob. Over the weekend my Apple TV remote started some behavioral problems and I grew short tempered that even after pressing the buttons twice as hard and giving it a firm talking to, it refused to cooperate. I ordered a remote control replacement online in order to replace a remote control that was ruined by a spilled glass of water and it arrived with no battery from an Amazon seller, so I took the device to the Batteries Plus Bulbs store on Victoria Avenue in Ventura. Erik had me in and and out of the store with the right battery working in the remote control in about 4 minutes. He opened the back of the remote control, popped it in, confirmed that it worked by testing it on a testing device on the counter by the cash register, and I was on my way out the door to complete my other errands in no time. This place just goes to show that any old little business can really offer remarkable service. I was especially impressed with Corey. I walked in with my three year old and we were greeted with a big welcoming smile. I needed a new battery for my car fob and I was in and out in two minutes and for five dollars, which included the actual replacement of the key. But the 5 stars is because Corey went above and beyond to serve me when something unrelated to his product ended up happening. I'm hesitant to post specific details for fear unscrupulous people might take advantage of a good business practice, but suffice to say Corey took a matter unrelated to the quality of his product into his own hands and ended up saving me money because he felt empowered to help me.
