With a number of locations spread around Tucson and operating hours 7 days/week, I forget how quietly convenient this place is and that alone warrants good stars. Like the Discount Tire of batteries, they will test any battery for free - and I have leaned on that service to check on everything from key fobs and watch batteries to large "brick" power sources (think large toys; home/alarm backup batteries; etc.) to vehicle batteries. I like how they always explain the test results -- i.e., the voltage vs amperage and the significance of the "cold cranking power." I forget every time (and they kindly don't remember I forgot :) One of their neatest offerings is the "lifetime" battery replacement for select gadgets. For roughly double the cost of a one-time replacement you get lifetime replacement. Either way, they replace the battery for you as part of the battery purchase. I use the lifetime option for my old school watches (think Timex/Casio). Bear in mind each device and owner are carefully registered in their database so that there is no way to "double-dip" by improperly switching a dead device with the device you got the replacement-warranty on. They carry virtually every type of battery in-house too so you have immediate replacement options. Their dates (always check) are consistently "fresh" - meaning expirations are far into the future. read more

Car battery goes out on a Friday night, electrical and brake system locked up. Had it towed to jack furrier on speedway. They reported on Monday the battery was bad and they replaced it with a AGM 94R. They let me know that batteries plus on wilmot had installed the inferior AGM 48 battery on January, 2024. I took the AGM 48 to batteries plus as it was under warranty. Batteries plus contended that the AGM 48 was the correct battery and that the battery was fine. They wouldn't refund me $, and only replace the battery. Thankfully jack furrier allowed me to return the battery they just installed. Batteries plus then told me they didn't have the 94R and wouldn't install an upgraded battery that was in stock. Thanks Gordy. So what could've been done by 10:30 am today had to wait until after 3 pm. So who would I trust? Jack furrier has worked on the jeep for years. She was very rude and said if she changed the battery it would be twenty dollars plus the cost of the battery, she stated it was company policy. The on-going saga of Batteries Plus trying (but failing) to provide a replacement battery for my vehicle that went bad under warranty continues. I received a call from Batteries Plus yesterday evening saying that my battery was in-store and ready for pickup. This morning I went to the store at Wilmot and presented my paperwork. The employee went to the back and produced to me my old battery that had gone bad. I explained that I had received a message to pick up the new battery. She did not find the battery and after a while was able to determine that my battery was actually in Marana, a nearby city. I am unable to travel to that city and have other travel plans that will take me out of state next week. I believe, based on everything that has happened so far with Batteries Plus, that there is a 50-50 chance that my new battery will end up in another state or that it will be sold to someone else. The incompetence of this business is unbelievable. If you are in need of a car battery, please shop elsewhere. Addition: I would like to say that the store employees at the Wilmot location have all been professional and diligent in my dealings with them. The incompetence in getting my replacement battery lies with management. Their inventory and logistics operations are the problem. One of the employees mentioned that since the inventory systems of Tucson and Phoenix were merged together, that their product counts are not reliable. Gordy and Leann were incredible. I had an iPad Air 2 that needed a new battery. I sent it in and they had to send it out to be fixed. When it came back it immediately started having issues. When Gordy and Leann received it, they had been told that the motherboard was burnt but it was perfectly fine when I sent it in. Therefore, something happened at the factory. I called and Leann helped and said she'd call corporate. Within an hour Gordy called back and said that it would be completely covered and I'd be sent a new one. This store is in a small, crowded, poorly ventilated space without any staff or customers wearing masks. The waits were long, and when I suggested to a gentleman who was actively coughing that he might want to put in a mask or go outside, he began loudly cussing me out--and in response the staff just looked awkward and said nothing. After 15 minutes I finally left, because this just wasn't a safe space to wait in with Covid cases currently rising as they are. The staff didn't seem to even notice. Simply put, this is place is garbage. We took a cell phone in to have the screen repaired, we explained the issue at hand, they told us the screen should be the only issue and it's an easy fix. We agreed to let them fix the device, they called the same night to let us know that the phone still wasn't responding to the new screen and they would try a different screen in the morning as that part may have been defective, we agreed. They called us at 10:45 am next day to let us know that it's the phone that's messed up and not their screens. They told us there was nothing further they could do and to pick up the device, upon picking up the device I asked about the phone...like..why the phone is still on & obviously functioning as we can hear text messages coming through, it's just the screen that's not responding? They told us it's like apples "screen of death" & that the software isn't responding anymore and the phone needs to be replaced. Out of the many phones I have broken, screens I've shattered, etc etc, I've never been told that. We took the phone down to QuickFix on Wilmot and they had given us a break down of what would cause the screen to go black and not respond, their answers were top notch compared to the crap batteries plus told us. Quickfix was able to fix the phone within 30 minutes, which was wonderful, they saved us hundreds of dollars. I'm unsure if batteries plus just has incompetent employees or what the case is, but they are lazy and don't want to do the work that is required of them, they take the easy way out and just want their customers to spend the few extra hundred bucks instead. read more

Called ahead last Wednesday about website pricing for a car battery, staff indicated that website inventory was different than in-store items. There was a battery available for $90 and they would honor a 10% online discount. We drove at least 15 minutes to go to the store to purchase the battery. When we got home, the battery was too tall, and we called the store back. The salesman talked to his manager and verified the size discrepancy. The manager said they had a battery that would fit that was $180 at a different location that would be available the following day, and also agreed to price match at $110. We agreed on the following day to make the exchange. When we arrived back the following evening the staff was completely different and knew nothing about the arrangement. The sales person indicated they had the battery in stock at the location but could not price match below $160, and would not make contact with any staff members that worked the previous day. The sales person gave us a refund and the core back. We then found the correct sized battery at O'Rielly. A huge waste of time. read more

Hung up after 29 minutes! Actually called them back the next day to try again, was also put on hold, and I hung up after 3 minutes. Very disappointing! Ultimately went over to Quick Fix Phone Repair on Campbell, they answered the phone, had the part, and did a great job with the repair. Enter Batteries Plus friendly service guy. He knew exactly what to do. He got the thing open and found the battery we needed. We got out of there for three bucks. Being the save-the-planet-one-less-toxic-mineral-in-landfills kind of guy that I am I asked about battery disposal. He told me that most household batteries can just go in the trash. If it's a certain kind, like made of moon dust or something (he used some monosyllabic words I don't remember), it can require special handling. Just bring it there and they recycle. I've come before but my latest visit, the employee there bent over backwards to try and fix my phone situation, by trying various ways of charging it, and even putting a test battery in to compare. I was very impressed and although I don't think it a big deal to them to do it, I was happy it did not cost, but I did wind up buying a great new charger for my phone, and the impressive selection of batteries and repair services for phones and the BRIGHT flashlights they have on display will entice me to return to them. I spent over 21 minutes on hold while driving across town, to which they finally answered when I was just 30 seconds away. No "so sorry for your wait, nothing..... I told them they could explain to my face why I had to wait so long. I walk in I see 2 guys working, both guys with no customers ask me immediately if I need help. Of course I immediately dig into them to explain why I had to wait so long in the phone. They offered no apologies only excuses. Once I finally got to quote I wanted- which seemed strange to be a flat $100, Justin came out and just said "we don't have to help you at all." That was my limit right there. I didn't put the watch to him, but it was done in under 10 minutes. 10 minutes...I'd still be looking for my metric wrenches. I've always received great service from this well run location, and I didn't have to break a sweat, or bust a knuckle. My sloth remains whole! Batteries+Bulbs has every battery and crazy bulb that you could possibly ever need, and or desire. Prices are reasonable and the 4 year warranty on my car battery is great. Horrible experience! Customers Beware! I took my iPhone 7 to get a battery replacement and called ahead to make sure they had time as well as an estimated time of completion to which I was quoted an hour. I go in and they check the phone is working and that it has no damage. I come back in about 40-50 minutes. The clerk lets me know it is done and hands me my phone to which I immediately see the dreaded "unable to activate touch ID on this iPhone" which tells me first of all the employee never even checked if the phone was in proper working order after the repair or even notated any issues. Right away I let her know it is not okay and it needs to be fixed to which she seems surprised. She says she can try to fix it but needs to help others customers first. Almost two hours later she comes back and hands me my phone which immediately I can tell they replaced my screen with a cheap 3rd party screen. The whole point of having an iPhone is the high quality screens they come with and the accurate colors. I let her know this is not okay and the whole point of bringing them my phone to replace the battery is because I thought they knew what they were doing to which she offers a $10 discount. I asked to speak to the manager which she said he wasn't working at the time and had to call him which she would have go to the back of the store for 10 mins at a time to contact him. The cherry on top was there was no "sorry" or "lets see how we can help you" just a "if you don't wanna pay for the service we can re-install the original screen and battery" so the best way they could help me is by having me use a broken phone screen with a broken home button and battery that needs to be replaced. Their manager NEVER tried to reach out to me to make things right. I even suggested I completely understand things happen but would need an oem screen replacement and they said they could only source used parts which if its works is fine by me but then said they couldn't do that either. All I can say if you use this store for batteries/replacements/repairs you are taking the chance they will damage your items and then offer $10 discount and stare out you without any empathy. Lifesavers! These guys are AMAZING! Super friendly, really fast service. Feeling desperate and hesitant with my shattered screen, I scheduled an appointment online to get my iPhone 7 looked at. I realized I had a conflict and called to see if I could switch my appointment. They fit me in that afternoon and did a wonderful job! It was done in less than an hour. Screen as good as new. And they even put a new piece of glass over my back camera which had also broken - no extra charge. They make you feel like you're in great hands right when you walk in the door and their work just proves that point! Very knowledgeable, capable employees. My 18 year old son paid $140 dollars to have his screen replaced on his iPhone 6 at this store. He accidentally rolled over on the phone while sleeping one night. The screen was not properly installed at Batteries Plus and started lifting up on the edges after a few days. After a few weeks my son was taking the phone back when it slipped out of hand and fell a few feet. Because the screen had not put properly sealed on the phone the corner chipped and a huge crack spread across the entire phone. Went back to ask the manager to install a new screen at half price since this event was made worse because the screen was lifted up. The rude manager would not listen and got into a verbal shouting match with myself and my teenage son. Offered to give us $30 off, he said that was the installation amount. He said the cost of the screen was $100 and he couldn't discount that. Pure BS! Never again will we use this store! Horrible customer service!!! read more

This should be a zero star. They do not stand behind their "warranty". I bought an Exide maintenance free car battery from them w/ a 4 year "no hassle full replacement warranty". The manager said "If this battery fails in the next 4 years bring it in & we'll replace it! No charge". Battery failed after 2 years, took it in & they said they can't warranty the battery at the store & I would have to call Exide. I called Exide. They said the store needs to warranty it! I went back to the store & they tell me they're having issues w/ Exide & they won't warranty the battery and give me an Exide email address to pursue the warranty. But they still sell Exide batteries w/ a "warranty" even though they will not honor it! A reputable business stands behind the product they sell! This store does not! I was a customer at this store for over 5 years using them for my business and personal needs. It is sad to see this kind of treatment to a loyal customer.
