ACOCA Cafe & Roastery -- Apparently Appleton got hipster while I was gone…read more Came back to my old stomping grounds for HS reunion week and somehow ended up having one of the most interesting breakfasts of the trip. ACOCA immediately gives off that independent coffeehouse/artsy/creative energy you don't necessarily expect when you're remembering the Appleton of your younger days. We all ordered the Bagels & Lox with salad, and I'm not gonna lie ~ that plate looked damn good. Fresh lox, colorful veggies, pickled onions, greens and an everything bagel. Add some quality coffee and you've got yourself a pretty solid morning. The space was spotless, the service was friendly, the drinks were good and the atmosphere was genuinely cool. But let's talk $$$. This was the priciest morning meal we had in Appleton, and one person in our group felt the price was a little high considering you have to put the sandwich together yourself, and only one of us was given a small ramekin of salad dressing accompanying our meal. Also we wish the bagel was slightly toasted instead of just a sliced everthing bagel. Still, I'd rather pay a little more occasionally for a place with personality than eat somewhere completely forgettable. ACOCA definitely has personality. Would I return? Absolutely!!! This is more my vibe for morning eats & cold/hot brew (Coffee/tea) that is Brews. Views. Food. Sometimes the journey takes you somewhere that doesn't involve beer.

What is really cool is up by the front they have some old wagon wheels that have been turned into tables. There are plenty of food items as well as pastries so no shortage on things to eat here. They also have a good variety of coffees from drip to pour over espresso. You name it. I got a blueberry muffin and a vanilla latte. The blueberry muffin is full of blueberries, super moist and delicious. The vanilla latte is spot on perfectly made. If you're in the area, I highly recommend coming over here.

I came yesterday and tried their Chocolate croissant, which is probably the best one I ever had in my life. I came back today and tried the cinnamon roll and it too was amazing. It was a big roll, but it was light and fluffy so it was easy to eat the whole thing. The horchata latte is also delicious. Inside the staff is friendly and helpful. I got a Togo order of the Gf brownies for my wife and they were careful to change gloves and package them appropriately. The seating area is clean and neat and orderly. It's everything you want to sit and enjoy a coffee and treat yourself to a delicious treat. Oh I did also get a loaf of their whole wheat bread that I can't wait to try in sandwiches! Would highly recommend. Go early, or order online to make sure they don't run out of what you want.

It was even better warmed up a little bit. I wish they had single pieces for sale because I would have loved to get multiple flavors. The first thing to know is that servings are ginormous, so order accordingly! I ordered the breakfast sandwich (just a croissant with some ham and cheese) and it took up the whole plate, no lie! It was also delicious, the cheese was cheesy (and messy, which was a plus and a minus), and the croissant was light and fluffy. I also had one of their flavored lattes, and it was delicious as well. I know they use homemade syrups and it shows. Pro tip though-the lattes fill you up (not so great when they also give you huge portions of food). The staff is friendly, and service is pretty good. On our second visit we did wait quite a while for our food-it was busy, but not packed, so that felt a little off. But otherwise service has been great. They do have an outdoor seating area-we unfortunately haven't been able to try it yet, but I would like to as it looks great!

You order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. We ended up ordering a cinnamon roll, the roasted and the sunny along with a cup of coffee and a refill. We were shocked to see that a cup of coffee is only $0.95 in house and a refill is $0.50! That's cheaper than one cup of most and this is their own roast. Definitely recommend taking advantage of the coffee prices, since even the to go coffee is way cheaper than most. The bagel sandwiches were both very solid and left you full. One thing of note is that they do make their eggs for the sandwiches in the microwave, so if there are a lot of orders, it can take a while to get the food. That being said, the eggs are nice and fluffy and well seasoned. We'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area. Also, just have to say that their logo is fantastic! I wanted to buy all of the merchandise when we were their, and they have a lot of merchandise!

The coffees were hand crafted and served in a real coffee cup with saucer. Extra bonus points here! The team behind the counter was very friendly and wished us luck on our 10k.
