Basin Robbins in Katy is a classic spot for some delicious ice cream. This time my boyfriend & I tried the Pralines 'n Cream flavor, which is "sweet praline-coated pecan pieces and rich caramel in creamy vanilla flavored ice cream." It was sweet, nutty, and so tasty! We ordered it in this cool cone cup hybrid. In the future I will probably get the plain chocolate version of this cone since the nuts mostly just fell onto the table as we broke off pieces to eat. My favorite flavor at Baskin Robbins (& one of my all time favorites overall) is Gold Medal Ribbon. It is a must try! Gold Medal Ribbon is creamy vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a caramel ribbon. It sounds simple, but the rich taste and silky texture are amazing! My family usually buys this one in a larger container while at Baskin Robins or at the grocery store if we see it there. I highly recommend coming by for some of the Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream if you haven't already! read more

I'm very upset with the cake I just picked up for my daughter's birthday. The black is bleeding into the white icing and the cake is showing through the icing. Not pleased at all, especially for a $30 cake that feeds 6-8 people. When I pointed this out to the manager, she just said that this icing is difficult to do...and to make sure I keep it in the freezer....no customer service at all to address my concern. Some of the best I've cream around in my opinion. The peanut butter chocolate is my fav and I can't come here and not get it. Two scoops in a large waffle cone with chocolate sprinkles please!! So so yummy!!! I've been to this location many many times and I'll say the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the hit or miss service. They were out of vanilla, but Joseph made it happen and he was so nice and lovely (just for context, it was 20 minutes until closing time). I had gone to lunch with my children, who were visiting me from out of town, my siblings and their children and the kids started craving for ice cream. I had actually promised my 4 year old niece for ice cream a couple of days before that, and naturally she brought it up. After asking Siri, we found out about the Baskin Robbins located within minutes of where we were. This B/R was very small from inside. There were 5 adults and 7 children in our group. The 2 workers seemed very bored with long drawn faces. It felt like they were not happy having to work on a Saturday and here comes our group of 12, all loud n representin'. Neither of the worker engaged in any convo with the kids nor did they smile thru our orders. After a few flavors out of stock and a disappointing look on the faces of the children, they went with either strawberry, chocolate or butter pecan flavor in cups. The ice cream was good and up to B/R standards. We were loud at the parlor and brought a lot of energy to the place which was gloomy, as if a funeral was being held before. After about 30 mins of fun, we left. It was unfortunate that the workers seemed so disgruntled, otherwise I would have given them a better rating. But, today, my girlfriend ordered something and had indulged in a spoonful of it, before she realized it wasn't what she'd ordered. The service sucked, and the ice cream started melting the second I got it. I asked for a cone. I think that if you already know the ice cream is soft you should tell the customer and offer them a cup instead of not being able to eat your ice cream because it has already turned into soup. The girl who picked up the phone was sweet at first then when I told her I needed it tomorrow she abruptly said "nuh-huh". I asked when I need to place the order. Price seems to be going up while serving size seems to be smaller. They don't have some of the flavors of old such as custards and cake batter, just a couple examples. Even the topping variety had been cut back to only a few. You can't get the broken pieces of waffle cone anymore because they now use it for a cake they make. Lastly a banana split uses a quarter of a banana. I'm serious a half a banana cut in half then cut in half....The staff is just young kids but they are friendly and try to provide good customer service so that is positive. I was just passing through the area, saw their sign and decided to stop in. Must have been a bad start to their day. Got there before they had fully opened and they were outside setting up chairs. Came back 15 minutes later and they had the door locked but they waved me around to the one they had unlocked. I thanked them, chatted with them and placed my order. Then they told me they had only just now taken the ice cream out of the freezer so they couldn't serve it. My question: if you know that, why not take it out of the freezer before you set up chairs so you can actually serve ice cream when you actually open? Been coming here for years, but really no longer enjoy it due to the workers. Most recently on Dec 20 at around 6pm, the two girls working at the counter were literally wrestling with each other and being very loud...it was unprofessional even for an ice cream shop. They were preoccupied with talking with this non employee guy standing almost behind the counter while customers were waiting to be helped. Meanwhile, off duty employee and friends sat nearby at a table drumming on the chairs, etc. Also, mini blinds on windows haven't been cleaned in a decade or more...unappetizing. Advice to owners or management....keep an eye on your high school aged employees during evening shifts. And please wipe down the mini blinds. read more

Once in a while I get the urge to eat some mint chocolate chip ice cream, I'll come here. I used to think that it was pretty cheap comparable to Marble Slab, but now I'm thinking it is kinda up there with them. $5 for two scoops of ice cream seems a bit much. I used to go to this location all the time, as I live right down the street. I am 6.5 months pregnant and the heavy set Hispanic female manager berated me when I accidentally parked in a space that was for customers, even though there was not a sign. I just so happened to be walking to the store next door. I submitted a complaint to corporate and that did nothing. As far as food goes, it's nothing special. The ice cream is sub par, it tends to have ice crystals riddled through it, or at least the lemon custard does. Regardless, I nor my family will not be going there any longer due to the manager treating customers in a rude fashion. read more

Went in on 2 separate occasions and had horrible experiences both times. They were out of banana split bowls and told me they couldn't put it in any other cup so I said "ok well can I just have a waffle cone with 2 scoops" he says "we have no waffle cones". I love Baskin Robbins ice cream, Nutty coconut, Banana foster, Love potion..., just to name a few of a great selection. My kids' favorite treat/reward is when I take them there. I would also like to mention the variety of ice cream cakes that they prepare. The decorator will try to work with you if you have a special design in mind, even if it's not something in their cake book ( of course within reason, after all it's an Ice cream cake). Stopped in for a one scoop hot fudge sunday. I was very disappointed as there was hardly any ice cream in the cup...mostly hot fudge and whipped cream.
