Came here a couple nights ago after always wanting to try this place. Got a variety of slices that looked pretty average but I was surprisingly overwhelmed by the flavor. My favorite was the margarita that no pun intended had delicious basil on (had to try it ) the white slices were pretty good and I loved the chicken parmesan slice. read more

Couldn't hear the worker so he refused to serve us. Absolutely terrible customer service. You could find 1000000 places with the same quality food who are actually kind and know how to treat customers. One of the most disgusting encounters I've had recently read more

Stopped by Basile's for a quick late night snack after coming back from NYC via Path around 1:30am. It's good late night pizza with thin and crispy crust. It's $2.95/slice for the plain cheese pizza so it's a decent deal, but honestly, I'd still prefer to get NY $1 pizza before getting on the Path instead of this. I just found it to be pretty dry for almost three times the price. Will probably stop by again here though as it seems the most popular cheap pizza around. read more

Ordered two pies (two large, one plain, one chicken) and waiting on line for over 50 minutes... but in the mean time I see 7+ plain pies made and handed out in front of me read more

The pepperoni pizza was crunchy and tasty at 3.50$. I will always prefer NYC 1$ slices but this is an easy place to get a slice from. They are also very fast and courteous. My kind of place :) read more

The pizza is delcious all day and night. It's made using recipes passed through the years to the owner Basile, a resteraunteur and Entrepreneur who knows how to mix both customer service, food service and good business ethics. Couple that with a good quality product available 24 hours a day and a sense of humor and youve got a pizza joint that has staying power. Good job Basile. read more

This is my favorite pizza in all New Jersey. Always fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is awesome they are always happy and cordial. I must try read more

They can be slow and inattentive, but their pizza is top notch in my opinion. Always crispy (due to the corn starch on the bottom), which makes for a delicious experience. I prefer the mushroom and classic plain slices the best, but several of the other slices are good. If you are going to call in a pickup order, it's hit or miss. I've had to walk over and wait in person on several occasions which prevents me from ordering on a more regular basis. If you are walking home from the Path after a late night at work, this is your best bet for a quick, satisfying dinner! read more

Decent pizza, decent prices, great location, open late. Can't really go wrong. This isn't the kind of meal one really needs to dissect--like I said, it's decent pizza for those who want something cheap and quick. But if it's analysis you seek, here goes: -- Love the crust. Has that awesome seeded/crispy feel that really adds something special. It's also a big step up from a lot of the late night/mass-quantity pizza places that tend to have doughier-crust. -- What's on top, however, is fairly mediocre. The red sauce, in particular, has virtually no flavor. It's slightly sweet, but it lacks the "zest" you really expect from a great slice of pizza. read more

It's a late night corner pizza joint type of place. Very thin crust and delicious. I'm a fan

Sign on the front door: "We gladly accept American Express". I order 1 pepperoni and 1 plain. I grab a water. "$9.75, sir." I hand him my AmEx. "Oh, no American Express, buddy. Sorry." I cancel the order and leave. Unprofessional and unacceptable. Period. read more

On the busy street if Washington Blvd, in the block next to Carlos bakery. Just a regular pizza place, but at least you won't be disappointed. If you are in Hoboken, planning to do lot of walk around, it doesn't hurt to have a couple of slice in hand :) read more

I love this place so much, they have amazing pizza!!! They have a huge variety and every single type is amazing! THEY ARE OPEN LATE. The atmosphere is amazing, quick professional service even when theres a huge line out the door. They manage to keep everything clean and sanitary and take care of the floors and tables after everyone eats. The thing that makes this pizza is the way they put the finishing touch on the crust and how the breaded texture tastes. The sauce they use is really delicious and tastes fresh. Deff recommend this spot, great place to come late night to walk around near Hoboken. I deff recommend coming here grabbing slices and eating by the water. The line gets very long and sometimes filled with drunk people but overall this place has amazing pizza... HUGE FAN. read more

Nice slice for an ok price. Great stop if your coming or going,to the Path. read more

Good Pizza, really enjoyed it. My son and wife thought it was amazing. I've had better, but I like it. The fountain drinks tasted funny however. I'd bet money that wasn't Diet Coke coming out of the dispenser. read more

Thin and crispy and so fucking good. Grab a slice you will not regret it! Literally everything is delicioussss

This is the best slice in Hoboken. If you are looking for a plain NYC style slice this is where you go. Good amount of great tasting cheese and sauce with nice crunchy dough as you bite through the whole slice. read more

Service sucks. The guys at the counter are rude. Pizza is ok. I wont be coming back because they are such jerks at the counter.

I am sad for all the poor reviews for my absolute FAVORITE pizza shop ever!!!! Not gonna lie, I have been here very drunk, but also very sober, and I am never disappointed. The bottom of the crust is always super crunchy, but the top is the perfect amount of chewy and cheesy gooeyness! You can't go wrong. Their late night hours and proximity to the train station are definitely helpful on the late nights back from the bar. My favorites are the sausage pizza and the chicken cutlet, but they're always changing up the pies! The only reason I give 4 stars is because they are DEFINITELY pricey. They charge $4 a slice, but it's sooo worth it. Check them out! read more

Waited on a long line, the guy on the register was texting the whole entire time, paid for my pizza --- ignored me when my pizza was ready -- like how unprofessional are these workers . Get the hell off the dam phone and focus on clients -- clients/customers come first , Jesus Christ read more

These guys continually go from handling cash to touching your pizza with their bare hands. No hand washing, no gloves. Cash, pizza, cash, pizza. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. I had to do a double take, and then they did it over, and over, and over. I thought maybe it was just 1 guy that didn't get trained or something, so when I was walking by the place another time, I watched a different guy do the same thing. He takes a customer's cash, and then grabs pizza slices with his bare hands to throw them in the oven. This is food service 101. If they can't even get "you don't handle cash and then touch food" right, I can only wonder what other health code violations are going on in this place. I don't generally ever leave 1 star reviews, but this is truly disgusting. And semi-unfortunate, because they make a decent drunk slice. read more

Late night pizza go to. Their crust on their slices is what makes the slice taste so good. There are crust "crumbs" on the bottom of the slices that give the slice an extra crunch and give the slice a little bit of garlic bread flavor. It's $3 a slice which is a bit pricey but when you're drunk, you want a good slice that'll satisfy your munchies. read more

Pizza was amazing. Thin crispy and great sauce. All in all I will def make my way back when I come back to jersey.

Fabulous location. Good outpost in theory. Probably best eaten at 2 AM after 14 drinks ... when crowds are large and pizza is fresh, but consistently misses on the after work window. Zero flavor. Mealy, floury, dry crust ... seemingly old ... maybe they should trim the selection when demand is down and keep the pies fresher? Major disappointment. read more

This place has great pizza (tangy and cheesy; had it with pepperoni) - make sure to ask for it well done on the top (trust me on this!). A special shout out to the crust - really chewy and flavorful. read more

Didn't have a selection of pizza. Only had multiple mushroom and cheese pies. Pizza was very tough, cardboard-like.

Went to Carlos Bakery with kids - I asked them who's got the best pizza in Hoboken. They told me Girmaldi's but I didn't listen and was too lazy to walk a few blocks. I walk into the one a couple doors down from the bakery (Basile's). Before we got our pizza I knew we were in trouble. No English spoken, guy who waited on us needed a shower and took the money and served us our pizza (no gloves). Guys in back dancing to music while customers wait. When the pizza came out of the oven it was basically thrown at us, I had to ask for cups, straws, napkins, salt etc. How else could this end but the pizza was not even average just didn't have a good taste. My daughters slice was not even warm. - Just left didn't want to bother the help - they really seemed to be happy doing nothing but fooling around. Maybe just avoid this place - when leaving some guy suggested Benny's maybe next time. ( read more

My favorite, by the slice, pizza shop. The pies have breadcrumb undersides which make them crunchy. Great selection of specialty pizzas.

I just want to preface by admitting that I've only come here after long nights of steady drinking. Otherwise, I would never be so venturesome to try out an open-aired pizza shop that seems like it's only in business because of its late hours and favorable location on Washington near bars and the PATH. My main gripe stems from the customer service. Last time I was here, I joined the standard line of drunk overprivileged white people and tried to assess which pizza variety appeared to be the least stale. As I was internally resolving this very insubstantial dilemma, my thought process was disturbed when one of the workers started to forcefully refer to us patrons as "f***ers." He was howling something along the lines of, "slide down and pay, f***ers!" I want to pause for a moment and point out that I'm not sure whether or not Yelp allows cursing. I've self-censored the narrative here, and will unnecessarily apologize for the worker's rather poor form and word choice. It was becoming increasingly apparent that it was soon going to be my turn to order and that I would need to quickly determine a plan of action if this worker were to directly call me a "f***er." Sure enough, his eyes met mine, pointed at me with a spatula-type pizza implement and asked me "what do you want, f***er?" I politely responded by confirming with him that he just called me a f***er, which he ardently admitted and subsequently shrugged off. At this point, despite the night's alcohol and its clever boost in self-assurance, I decided to be the bigger man and walk away. I wasn't going to get in a struggle with a migrant worker over his improper and rather uncomplimentary word choice, nor was I going to respond with an actual order that I'd have to shamefully eat along with any last bit of self-respect. Instead, I decided I'd be an internet hero for all those verbally abused at Basile's after-hours and write a thorough critique of what is a truly terrible pizzeria. read more

There are so many pizza choices in Hoboken...the only reason I came into Basile's is because of the location. I was starving after sitting in class for 4 hours that I ran into the closest pizza spot from the terminal. It's also open until 11. I have had their regular cheese slice and it's nothing special. I had the broccoli/ricotta pizza slice this time and it was better. But it was also $3.50 ...and the first thing I did was compare it to a Benny's slice which is 10x bigger and it's $3. Basile's is only good on weekends when you're out drinking. read more

My Wife and 2 daughters and myself visited Basile's on 4-19-2017 . We were on Spring Break Vacation in Douglas, Ga. We took the subway from New York, to Hoboken New Jersey. Just to say we've been to New Jersey, we were looking for Carlo's Bakery, when we found this wonderful Pizza Heaven, we all tried a different slice of pizza, and I've got to say, it was the best Pizza that I have ever had! Hats off and thumbs up to the owner, and staff of Basile's!!! read more

Ordered a pizza, garlic knots and chicken roll from these guys on the Slice app. An hour later they delivered the pizza and refunded me $9 for the garlic knots and chicken roll because they ran out. They ran out of garlic knots and chicken roll at 7pm on a Friday night! They didn't call me to let me know. I found out at the time of delivery (8pm) that I couldn't get half of my order. Thankfully they refunded me the money, but why not let me know prior to delivery? When I called to complain, these guys could care less. Fortunately I was able to get the rest of my dinner from a reputable pizza joint 45 minutes later. Will NEVER order from these guys again. They could care less about customer service. read more

Too much sugar in the sauce, 'grandma slice' soggy Really really really poor service, they want to take your money from you without any appreciation for the customer. Also they handle your food and dirty money without washing their hands. Yum. read more

I love how the pizza be is always crispy and the service is fast. The only thing that holds me back is that the guys at the counter always touch my pizza without gloves on (every time) while also handling money at the register. I'm always scared to eat where because I don't want to end up getting sick. Other than that, they're always rushing you out and the pizza is super over priced as well. Overall, the pizza is really good, the service is not. read more

This place has a great location since it's down the street from the PATH train & local bars. That has to be the ONLY reason it's always packed. Only drunks & those shuffling home from a long commute would venture into this shame of a pizzeria. The cold bland dough they call pizza isn't worth the $2 prices. Take your two dollars & visit ANY of the other 15+ pizzerias on Washington & save your pallet from this abomination. read more

I don't understand what is up with the other ratings here. I know people in Hoboken are generally discerning and hard to please but come on; this is just a pizzeria. Not a gourmet restaurant or an "authentic Italian" type of designer pizza. Just good old fashioned NY style thin crust. That being said I am literally like a pizzeria connoisseur. In the sense that I check out a different spot in the city every time I'm there. I am chasing that elusive old fashioned slice I knew from childhood. Was it really that good back then? Or is that just my child taste buds exaggerating reality? My mind tells me, they just don't make NY thin crust like they used to. So I walked in this place by chance. Judging on their prime location I knew they HAD to be good. Thin crust? Yeah as thin as you can get. Someone said burnt crust? That's it for me right there, bingo. They nailed it. I have tried all the brick oven pizzerias that don't get it just right. This place is better than the majority of joints in the city. In terms of NY style thin crust in NJ? The best in my book. Give it a try! read more

I was visiting from Los Angeles and this is not the experience I wanted to get with Hoboken. Horrible customer service. Pizza average. Ordered 2 slices of cheese to-go. Multiple employees behind the glass counter. One took my order, another one handed me a paper bag, a third took my cash (cash-only sign is only visible once you get to the register). Got to my car and opened the bag. They had placed two slices of pizza on one paper plate. The slices were on top of each other, cheese touching cheese. So naturally when I lifted one slice, there was no cheese left on the other slice. Went back to the shop to ask for a new order. The owner was there and refused to give me another order because I was not able to tell him which employee handed me my order. He then yelled at the employees and asked if anyone remembers me. No one said a word. One employee gave me the new pizza. The owner then said that he is taking $6 out of everyone's paycheck because of my incident. He is clearly a very unhappy man and if he wants his business to succeed, he should stay further away from the shop. And I feel bad for the people that have to work for him. read more

nice little spot in hoboken for tasty pizza on an unseasonably warm day for february, basile's had thrown open their window/drs and let the sunshine in i tried the nonna/grandmom - a square-cut, crisply thin-crusted slice of really good and garlicky tomato sauce and cheese pizza...definitely needed to blot some of that tasty oil off with some napkins, but it was really yummy i can see how this place gets busy by default b/c of its proximity to carlo's bakery (cake boss), but really, i think the pizza does stand on it's own 3.5 stelle read more

I ordered from seamless a grandma pie (20 inch) for $25 because I was starving. I get the pizza, it's cold and takes up not even half of the pizza box. It's ridiculously small - and very clear that I'm being ripped off. I call them to complain and the guy on the phone says he knows it's pricey and people should order the margherita pie and he can't do anything about the price because the owner makes the price...great... So I will NEVER order from there again. A huge waste of money for the worst pizza of my life. read more
