Quite possibly the best pizza I have ever had in my life.... And I don't say this lightly. A quaint small pizza shop, mostly takeout, what attracts to to order was the sourdough crust. I had the pepperoni ovale, my daughter had the Aglio e burro. The thin crust is superb, the sourdough taste is magnificent, and the texture perfect. Cute little pizza shop within walking distance of the train and ferry. Not a lot of seating but luckily we arrived around 2pm on a weekday so we got a table. A very kind gentleman helped us and made our pizza; it was absolutely incredible, the crust was amazingly thin and crispy and a perfect size for us to share. In my never ending quest to find the best pizza establishment in any general idea I reside in or just occupy some semblance of time, I was made aware of this establishment and had it on my check list to review for myself. The establishment itself was a little smaller than expected with primarily outdoor seating but the pizza was immaculate! Sauce, crust, cheese quantity and quality, it had it all. The pie was big enough for two normal people but I would of finished it off myself. After sharing some with a friend, I was still down for more and almost ordered another but I decided to slow down and get some ice cream instead from another local business at my friend's request. Ovale is a small pizza spot easily missed right across from the hospital. It's a grab your food and go type of place. Their pizzas are pretty simple with a variety of ingredients. I've ordered a whole pepperoni pizza as well as a whole vegan pizza. I do love and respect the fact that they have a vegan pizza list. The whole pizza is not big like your typical pizza. The dough is light and crispy. Realistically I could eat a whole pizza because it's not that big but to conserve on carbs you can split it with two people. This is not your typical oily pizza this is a quaint pizza with perfectly portioned mozzarella and sauce. It's very tasty. They also have a few salads and I tried their sorbet. Very good. read more

The quality of the pizza is fine. It is a refined version of the dollar slice you get in NYC. The issue is with the delivery. They always forget an order, always something missing. In my case, drinks are always missing. I order the same thing: pizza and a diet coke...I never get the diet coke...or any drink, not even a substitute. I dont understand what the issue is. I am so happy that Ovale has opened and really hope they stay around for a while because I have found my go to spot for a perfect Neapolitan pie. Their crust is incredibly flavorful and light - the right balance of crunch, fluff, and structure. The Mortadella pie will live rent free in my dreams until I get it again (probably way too soon!) their homemade Nutella is dreamy - add it to a croissant and you have the perfect match. I was hoping their Margarita pie would be better - the sauce just seemed a little...off? not as fresh tasting as I would have liked maybe? But overall still a solid pie. Wow! The crust is amazing! Probably the best pizza crust I've ever had. Visit for that alone! Good char on the bottom too. One surprising element was that the mozzarella was so creamy. I've never experienced it so smooth before. The guys are really nice and friendly. When I mentioned the mozzarella, they came out from the kitchen to chat saying it is even better on a whole pie. Very good pizza. My wife and I went this evening and ordered 2 pizzas (I thought 1 looked small) -the burrata margarita and the mushroom pizza (I can't recall the actual names). Both were perfection. They bake their on bread in the AM and you can tell how fresh it is. If you're looking for a great pizza, that is light, fresh - and you don't feel bad after eating - then this is the place for you. We ordered delivery from Ovale. The boxes are lovely rectangles with the name of the restaurant on front and on the back a description of how they make their dough. The pizza is very good and light. We ordered their vegan cheese less pizza as well as a regular margarita and margarita with pepperoni. The pizzas are all allergy friendly and they have a large vegan pizza list. It would be great if they offered whole wheat versions and mentioned what specific vegan products they use on their website (vegans like to look at ingredients). In addition on delivery the crust was a little dry. Overall though we were very pleased and will definitely order from Ovale again! read more
