Damn, I must of came on a bad day because how this place for all these 4star reviews are puzzling to me. I ordered a chicken yakisobe but came out with the meat looking and tasting like pork. Asked the waitress to check with the chef and she came back said the chef is so good that he can make chicken look and taste like pork. Paused. Head bang. We were a group of 6 & wanted to try this new place. Though it was lunch time & crowded we were seated without delays. However after getting our seats, neither the server nor anyone else showed up to ask for drinks/ food order for 15 minutes. Once our Lunch order was placed (no drinks/ water till this time) we had to continue waiting for another 30 minutes. On inquiry the only response we got was "Ok" :(:( post which we had to approach Restaurant Manager. It took them 40 minutes to bring food to our table & even that wasn't was what we ordered. Post explaining this it took another 5-10 minutes for our actual order to come by (near about an hour after placing the order). Service: Really very very slow. They were thoroughly short staffed. Staff: Amiable. Our server apologized for the delay in bringing our order. Food Quality: 1.5 out of 5. I have been to other Thai restaurants & all of them do ask for preferred spice level. This was not the case here & all of our 6 orders were more towards Sweet instead of Spicy. The food appeared to be prepared in a hurry. Fried rice didn't look or taste like it (rice were more in chunks & you could see the sauce not coating all of it). Definitely won't be visiting again. read more

Food, service & prices are horrible at Basil Thai. Food ordered: - Panang curry, so bland. Asked for spicy level 3 out of 4. Curry came out without spice, cold & flavorless. Chicken was under cooked. - Small side of spicy mayo, $1.25 without informing us about that price. Insane. - vegetarian soup, flavorless!!!! Also if your a vegetarian, be careful because there was pork broth & pieces in my soup. - "siriacha", not real siriacha. Service: Waited forever to get food. The place was empty, however service was so slow. Other customers were getting antsy as well. Most things were just a little bit off. This isn't really a true-to-form Thai place. They offer other varieties like Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese (sushi, calamari). In my general experience, if a place offers many different variances, chances are that not one of those is great. The good thing is there is a lot to choose from on the menu. The not so good thing is the execution. We had the calamari as an appetizer and it totally missed the mark. The breading was very doughy and flavorless. Of those of us that ordered Thai meals, we were informed that we added our own spice at the table (no giving the waitress a 1-5 spice level upon ordering). This means that the spices aren't cooked into the food which really takes away from the meal. I got the basil ground chicken, "Hot Basil,"(pretty common at most Thai restaurants) and the flavor was quite a bit off; it was more sweet than rich and obviously with no spice. Aside from the aforementioned information, the restaurant was clean and well laid out with decent decor. Maybe this place will hit the mark for some but it wasn't what I was looking for. read more

I recently went to Basil Thai for lunch and, aside from being a bit on the pricier side, had a great meal. I had the Ramen Tom Yum and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The broth was flavourful and spicy, and there was a fair portion of both mushrooms and shrimp within the dish. My friend had the Khao-Soy and had been happily surprised to see it on the menu- while the dish didn't look like she remembered from her time living in Asia, it ended up hitting all the right marks on flavor. It looked like many people around us opted to go the pad thai route, and it looked nice enough. I would definitely return to try out some of the other items on the menu. read more

Wouldn't eat here again. The food was about 45 minutes later than the emailed expected delivery time. Then when the delivery person got there, they told me you can't tip on a card and asked if I could tip with the cash in my hand! (Which I wasn't initially using for a tip but felt obligated after that) I ordered the fried calamari and a sushi roll. The calamari was chewy and undercooked, not fried. Half of the sushi roll was good, the other half tasted dirty and almost like throw up. So I literally bit the sushi roll in half and threw away the rest. Didn't finish either item. read more

Finally!! Real Thai food in Cincinnati. I've tried 12 of the popular Thai restaurants in the area and this is the ONLY one that tastes like Thai food! I'm convinced it's the only one with Thai people cooking in the kitchen as well. Also relieved they don't do Sushi like all the rest. Such a weird trend here. The restaurant is super clean and owners friendly but busy. We had the pad see ew-delicious and the pad Thai. Both prepared correctly! I like the spice trays on the tables too. This place was perfect for a quick casual dinner in blue ash. The interior is incredibly clean and fresh feeling, a nice change from many similar Thai restaurants throughout Cincy. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai, and my parents each ordered the Massaman Curry. We all agreed that the food was very good and flavorful. The pad thai noodles they used were a bit more narrow than the typical flat noodle- which actually allowed the delicious sauce flavors to come through even more. FYI- they don't appear to have a liquor license, as there aren't any alcoholic drinks on the menu. It might be BYO- we didn't ask! read more

After trying this place twice I'm unimpressed. I feel the food is priced high for the portion size and quality. I first tried their Pad Thai and was disappointed the Pad Thai I get at China Wok in Finneytown is alot better!!! Today I ordered the Gyoza & seaweed salad = 5 potstickers and 1/2c salad $11, the dumplings were not fried enough for my taste so they were doughy, gooey. I see some complaints about service but our service was very good...granted we were virtually the only customers at the time. I had lunch here two days ago. I had the Cashew Nut Chicken. The flavor and spice were to my liking but I didn't see one single cashew nut. Also for $13, the portion was pathetic. Flavorful, but pricey. The big draw for Thai food in my eyes is vibrant flavors. Most people and Thai restaurants in Ohio seem to have an unspoken agreement that bland people will buy bland food. The menu here, however looked about 50/50. Looking for the elusive authentic Thai, I went with the Country Pork, on the menu as barbecued pork with mint, cilantro, lime, onions and chilis. And really, that's exactly what it is, bar the pork which they were out of. Something tells me that if I had the intended pork instead of that larb (minced pork) that was subbed in I'd think higher of the dish. It was flavorful, but the meat substitution get like getting ground beef instead of a medium grade steak. Second dish? Drunken noodle. Pretty much the American Thai go-to. It was good, but no better than anyone else's drunken noodles. Same goes for the summer rolls we had as an app; good but no better than anyone else's. I will say that the service was quick and friendly, and the place felt new, clean and well decorated. Lastly, a personal tick of mine for a dining experience... the music was either Pandora or Spotify, which is totally normal, but it was a free account so we had to listen to Wendy's commercials while eating read more

Been here for lunch a few times and food is always good. Have had the pad Thai and the pho noodle soup. Both were hot and very good. Some items are a bit pricey and seems to be pan Asian cuisine with Vietnamese, Chinese etc on the menu. Wait staff also was friendly. This is a beautiful restaurant - the kind of place you take an important date or a business meeting. The decor is absolutely top notch. In spite of our rule of thumb that all the best Thai food comes from the "hole-in-the-wall" establishments, this place perfectly nailed the 4 items my table ordered: Pad Thai with beef, Tom Yom Gai soup, chicken fried rice and Masaman chicken. Even the 1-5 spicy scale was spot on. Wonderful service and sparkling clean rest rooms. They don't have a liquor license, but invite you to bring in your own wine or beer. So that would be the only suggestion I have for them: procure the ability to sell Singha beer or a nice Pinot Grigio alongside the excellent food. read more

This is definitely my go to Thai place for lunch. I love the pineapple rice and sweet and sour with chicken. The crab Rangoon rolls are sooo good. It's definitely a great price fir the quality of food received. I would say if your going to go definitely call ahead and place order. I ordered the red curry with tofu (mild) through Uber Eats and it was amazing!!!!! I went to Thailand 2 years ago so I've had true Thai cuisine and this tasted very authentic! Stopped here for lunch with some work colleagues, and we were promptly seated. The waitress was friendly and the dining area was very clean (yes, I notice things like that). The menu was varied, with Thai food, but it also had their take on ramen and some stir fry dishes that seemed more Chinese to me. I really appreciated that they state up front on the menu that they do not use MSG! That's very important to me. Sometimes I will ask at restaurants about this, and they don't speak enough English to answer adequately. They have a lunch section on the menu, but I found that the noodle entrees were less expensive and great portions. Another person and myself ordered the pad see ew (hers with tofu, mine with chicken) and mine was $8.95. Another person ordered the green curry and was very happy with her dish. I think this place was very overpriced my lunch was over 25 dollars, that's with a lunch curry and roll with shrimp cilantro and way too much lettuce and little noodles with peanut sauce, I was not impressed at all. I barely could get a refill, I sat for 10 minutes before anyone helped me. I have definitely had better thai in Dayton, I will just stick to my roots. I don't feel any lunch special should be super overpriced especially when the flavors and service didn't match up. oh well, at least I can say I tried it but I was not impressed. read more
