Came here twice now. We do t often co E to the valley especially to eat. Overall the food and atmosphere is really good. They have a variety of Asian dishes including Chinese noodles, sushi, Japanese, etc. This second time I got a sushi roll and miso soup. A little bit pricey for the amount of soup and the roll was a little higher than average. Presentation was good. I tried so E of my mother in laws shrimp and I normally love fried shrimp but these were soggy batter on the inside. If I had gotten them for my meal I would have been dissappointed. They do have lunch specials and we went on a Saturday. We were checked on several times by different people so the service was great. They didn't get anything wrong that we ordered. read more

Ok so I fail. this is our second time out here and I am realizing now I never wrote a review. Check this place out a month after they opened and it was fantastic. If you're out in the valley this is the place to eat. Amazing Chinese, Thai, and Japanese! They also work with those who have special diets and are not rude or hard about it, they are positive and just overall excited your willing to give them a try! Immediately greeted upon entry with a huge smile on my face. The Host are great here! The food is phenomenal. We got all 3 styles this trip. My mother had Chinese with some great i would almost say king crap size prawns! the citrus dipping sauce was so good I would have taken home if we didn't eat it all. Bottle that stuff! would be great on some vanilla or chocolate ice cream. I got the photo Larb with 4* spicy. it was amazing! so good and filling! I LOVE Larb and this is the second best in the state! Honestly so close to my favorite but just loses out because it's so much farther from my home. The crispy necessis fantastic addition to this dish. My Wife got a dragon roll, fresh yummy and tasted great!! Happy to see that the quality is there and presentation was on point. Staff was very attentive and checked on us, multiple times throughout the visit. I really enjoyed this because it was a different person but everyone truly cared and asked if everything was all right. not the customer service I am used to in the valley for sure. This was top notch! Andrew your one of the only ones who reads this far! This place is great worth the trip! Also surprise it's in alaska! read more

The food is overpriced, for quality not even worth it. I get they're trying to create their own twist for their food, but the combinations are trash. Service is good. read more

Delicious food and friendly service along with reasonable prices. A comfortable place to relax and enjoy a meal.

I love this place, I had the Alaska roll and the Hana peach sake. Both were very delicious. I will definitely have it again. We waited about 15 minutes with no reservation. Service was great and the ambiance was not too loud. read more

We dined in before the COVID 19 restrictions started. We stopped for dinner on our way home from watching the Iditarod start. Upon entering you will be greeted to a very sleek and stylish space. I was not expecting how upscale this restaurant turned out to be. There are cool samurai statues and other Japanese decor pieces. The restaurant has ample seating options including a sushi bar. Service was quick and friendly. We never had an empty water glass, and the food came out in a timely manner. The seafood here is very fresh, and they have a pretty extensive menu with sushi rolls and Chinese American staples. The fresh spring rolls were kind of flavorless without the dipping sauce. For the price you don't really get much. We enjoyed all of the rolls except for the Buddha roll. That one was pretty flavorless, and kind of an interesting combo. The rolls were priced fairly. We enjoyed our meal here, and think it's a great restaurant choice if you're looking for a sushi spot in the valley! read more

Sweet spot for a casual meal. Ambiance is modern causal. All tables have sunlight and are well spaced. The place has a permanent newness about it. Parking is easy. The menu is a mix of standard to cleaver sushi with everything you should find in a sushi cafe. After 3 visits I find the staff pleasant to be around, efficient, supportive of each other, quiet, snappy dressers, and well informed on the menu. The worst thing I could find to relay is no Wi-Fi. However, a neighbor has a guest WiFi that flows over and is available for use. The hot and sour soup was both hot and sour with plenty of thingies floating around that are tasty, wontons are perfect, portions plenty. The flavors are not as striking as I would like, neither are sauces used as much as I would like. Next time I will let the waiter know I would enjoy more saucing. The drink glasses are too small so require a lot of refills. (Picky I know) Overall the place should be on your regular hangout list as it has a nice menu, plenty of selections that will please different customers, professional, well trained staff, superior ambiance, clean, sharp exterior, easy parking, well priced, quiet dining and easy to find location. Even though I can be selective in my food choices I assure you - you will find a fresh and beautiful meal selection here. read more

The first two times I had sushi here I wasn't very impressed, but every thing else on the menu is absolutely delicious! The service here is always impeccable and they always bring out your food quick and piping hot. Not only is the food delicious but the ambiance is spectacular, a very relaxing place to enjoy a delicious meal. I highly recommend the Monkey Brain, a delightful crab stuffed avocado that is tempura fried! It's absolutely delicious and never disappoints! read more

Fried rice is awesome!! I used to order the chicken fried rice, but switched to veggie one. So good .

Food is amazing ! I had a spicy shrimp soup that was unbelievable! The appetizers were delicious as well.

Food is absolutely delicious, but take your time ordering. If you order right away, everything will be there before you have one glass of wine. Space out your order! read more

The service is really good. The venue is well decorated and very clean. The menu and options are pretty diverse. Unfortunately the food itself is extremely over-salted. If the salt was removed the food would have been fine. After letting our staff know about the saltiness, they comped our dishes. I hope the kitchen can ease up on the salt; the service team is well managed. read more

This place reminded me of a P.F. Chang's back in Florida, except it was way better than Changs and cheaper. The decor is wonderful. Bright, tasteful, and best of all, clean. The service is professional and friendly. I think they have a person whose only job is to walk around and fill water glasses. My water glass never dropped below half way and it was small! It's also helpful considering there is some spice to the dishes. The menu is better than Changs because it has sushi and Thai dishes. Furthermore, there is a section with 20 dollar meals that blend dishes together. For instance, I ordered panang curry and also received a California sushi roll as well. It was perfect for someone like me who can never decide between sushi (which never seems to fill me up) and another dish. My better half was super happy with her meal and we both agreed that the green and red peppers in the lettuce wrap appetizer was cooked perfectly. The lettuce was crisp and freshly washed. This place is a winner! My only complaint is that the food came out so quickly after the appetizer. I would have like a little longer to enjoy my soup and appetizer. I felt like I was playing Tetris with all the plates and bowls on the table. read more

We drove out to the valley from Anchorage for a friends going away dinner - holy cow this place is delicious! I ordered the sesame chicken which came with 4 California rolls. We also ordered chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Out of those - the sesame chicken was the best. I read a lot of the reviews before coming here and disagree - the sauce was perfect on my plate! I might recommend the veggie fried rice to anyone - ours had so so much chicken in the chicken fried rice - which normally wouldn't be a bad thing - but we both had chicken dishes so it was a lot! Split a bottle of wine with one of my girlfriends - way more cost effective than ordering two glasses of wine. Service was 100%. Fancy glasses and plates Definitely worth the drive from Anchorage. So delicious! read more

The food was decent, but nothing amazing. The service was okay. Everything seemed extremely overpriced for what it was.

The food was really tasty. My husband was a little upset that there wasn't a larger serving of pad thai but we had a large serving of friend rice (our kids loved this along with the pad thai that they shared) and the Mongolian beef was perfectly seasoned. We also had a California roll and the spring rolls. Everything was fresh and cooked well. The wait staff was very nice and gave our younger two, cups with lids (if you have young ones you know this is a must). We were left alone to eat and when we needed refills and service they were attentive and came quickly. Lastly, the restaurant was well decorated and clean. The decor was tasteful and went well displaying the culture of the delectable cuisine. Only downfall to this place is the price but I can't really be upset when everyplace you go is pricy. Our family of 5 ate for about $100. It was delicious and we will definitely be going back. read more

Amazing food and service. I've had many great dishes here, but their Larb is one of my absolute favorite foods ever. Spicy, savory, sweet, and full of flavor and texture. No other Larb compares and I've tried a ton of Larb in search of a comparable dish. Perfection- thank you! read more

Maybe, Basil Ginger it's very "chic". It has an amazingly diverse clientele, and is busy it seems, at all times. It is very expensive and the food is hit or miss. I think the most irritating thing is that for the money, it isn't personable and there is no lingering with friends, it seems apparent that it's about volume. I'm not thoroughly enthralled. read more

Peanut sauce tasted bad and oily. For the price the food had no authenticity of flavor. The service was ok nothing special. Ambiance felt quiet and awkward staring at the table so close to me. I will not be going back. read more

Had lunch with a friend recently. We found the staff to be very sweet and courteous. The food looked amazing and arrived quickly. Loved the variety of the lunch menu. The food tasted as good as it looked. I could of done without the nearby screaming baby. That really hurt my ears and prevented me from conversing with my friend. However that wasn't Basil Gingers fault. I recommend the broccoli beef and the fried prawns with Miso soup! Yummmmm read more

Picked up carry out here for dinner. It was ok, but there were a few things I was not impressed with. The spring rolls were relatively heavy and crunchy, they seemed, more like a Chinese style egg roll than a spring roll I have generally had at thai restaurants. I got the green curry and it seemed to lack character and flavor. It did have thai basil in it, and some coconut flavor, but the veggies seemed a bit nontraditional. And the flavor wasn't very impressive. Nothing remarkable about the place, nothing bad either. Just seemed a bit off from most of the good thai restaurants I have been to. read more

Excellent food. Sushi is outstanding. Favorites include the salt and pepper prawns.

First time visiting Basil Ginger. Our server took the time to explain the different type of sakes and allowed me to sample most of them until I settled on one. Tried both the larb and potsticker appetizer and the Tony roll and California roll for entree. Peanut butter pie to-go. Great first experience. read more

I don't know how many times I've even here but it's probably the most visited place for my family. The food is always fantastic and what has made it even better is our waitress Cassie. She was so on top of everything and I look forward to going back knowing I'll get wonderful food and wonderful service. I didn't get any pictures of the food because we ate it so fast but we ordered: 2x beef fried rice,2x sweet and sour chicken, 2x dumplings, coconut shrimp, beef pad thai, beef and broccoli and 2x smile sushi rolls. Believe me when I say all was definitely worth it. Can't wait to go back. read more

What a lovely find --better Chinese/Asian food then we have back in the lower 48. The service was efficient, our food came out piping hot quick quicker than we expected, and it was exceptionally tasty. It was also amazingly low priced. Food in Seward coat two arms and a leg, so we were floored with a total tab for entrees, soup and drinks of $57. Beautiful interior. Definitely a go. read more

Visited 9/13/22 The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We had two girls tag teaming our table for drinks and our order, so we had to make sure to tell them one or the other already came. We ordered: Monkey Brain Sasikan Roll Ka-Nok-Karn Roll Lava Roll Spicy Tuna Roll The monkey brain was basically the huge avocado pieces and a little bit of crab. Not sure where the spicy tuna was. There was very little fried batter around the avocado. Sasikan roll was great, aside from the rice paper. Very chewy and took away from the sushi texture. Ka-nok-karn roll the crab... I can't put my finger on it, but the taste wasn't what you'd expect from crab. Lava roll- the cheese was like a piece of processed cheese from a slim Jim combo pouch. Spicy tuna is what you'd expect from spicy tuna. We both left sushi pieces on our plates, which is rare for us. It wasn't terrible and we may be back to try different items. Add more nonspicy tuna and salmon options to the sushi menu and I'd for sure be back. read more

We were attempting to go to Tok Thai in Glenallen, but realises it would be closed by the time we got there. Well, to be honest, I wanted to go for Massaman, but the place i found was closing in 8 minutes so we came here on a whim. It's a nice new building, the decor is lovely, not too over the top, not loads of kitschy stuff on the walls - very classy and sophisticated. Even the menus are fancy. There's a sushi bar area, and a dining room. The dining room tables are set beautifully, with the linen napkin enclosing the chopsticks and silverware nicely. I'm fond of linen napkins. They seemed to have a variety of Asian foods - no Massaman though. Thai, pho, sushi, Chinese etc. The usual favourites. I was drawn to the Miso soup, which i love, and decided to go with the Asian Chicken Salad in peanut lime dressing and husband got the Basil Stir Fry. My cup of Miso was perfect, warming and comforting. Nice chunks of tofu, spring onion, and seaweed. The perfect temperature too. My Asian Chicken Salad was huge, and the dressing, delicious. Unusual, but I'm definitely a fan, I'd have it again. It was colourful with red cabbage, and red bell pepper mixed in with the greens. My sole criticism was the chicken. It's one of the 2 reasons I didn't give this 5 stars. The chicken had it's skin on, and it was a little fatty for my taste. Also, the end pieces had a weird flavour, almost cheesy, and were a little overcooked, and I left quite a bit of the meat. I like my chicken breast to be uncovered, moist, juicy, and never overcooked. I'm quite picky about that. Husband loved his Basil Stir Fry, and I tasted it, (i liked his chicken better than mine) and he ate the rest of my chicken too. But on the whole, the dishes were flavourful, beautifully presented on fancy white flatware, and the service was very good. The bathrooms are also new, and very clean. My 2nd reason for 4 stars instead of 5 - the cost. It's a little spendy. But i would definitely go back again. read more

Excellent food and great service!! We're visiting family here (from California) and decided to try this place. It's some of the best Thai we've ever had! read more

The service was pretty good and the sake was very tasty. The fish was also okay but quite a few pieces didn't taste very fresh. Overall it was extremely overpriced- we spent a bit over $100 on overly fishy lukewarm raw pieces that didn't taste fresh. The salmon was pretty good but I've had better, the yellowtail seemed a little off, the tuna was a no. We left still hungry and not wanting to spend more money. The owner now will not leave me alone to "make things right" by offering a $25 gift card, falsely stating that I said "only two pieces of fish tasted bad", and then changed his statement to "you said none of the food was bad, you only said prices". read more

If you are looking for good Thai food, this place has good food. We ordered vegetarian dishes. All were very good. However, I removed three stars for very poor service. It was super rushed, and couple of times they came across as very disrespectful. The waitress who took our order, was very polite, pleasant and very helpful. However, there were two other waitresses, in particular, who came across as very disrespectful and uncourteous. They would bring food and just drop on the table as hurriedly as they could, even without making eye contact or telling what dish have they brought to the table. She would not pause even to take requests. While we are asking for red chilli paste and peanut sauce, she was walking away super fast from table rolling her eyes, and mumbling something to her colleague. It appeared we were chasing her to put in our food requests. While walking out, I was looking for the door, and by mistake walked into the bar area. Again, these two waitresses rolled their eyes disrespectfully, instead of politely showing the way out. While the food was good, we felt very unwelcome. Definitely do not recommend if you are looking to have a pleasant dining. Message to the restaurant: just furniture and ambiance does not make a good restaurant or fine dining experience. In hospitality industry it is service and warmth you surround your guests with along with good food that makes a dining experience pleasant for the guest. Your waitresses have too much attitude and uncourteous demeanor that renders them unfit for hospitality industry. read more
