Crying tiger
Amy L.

Love the crying tiger, mango sticky rice, and curry. Everything else was good but those were my favorite. The chicken wings was crispy and juicy. But the tom yum sauce just tasted like mama instant noodle tom yum packet. Which i dont hate. The crying tiger takes 20 minutes to make but they give alot so i think its worth. Their curry is also very flavorful. Quite a bit of a drive and if its busy there might not be parking.

Let's just start with WE WILL BE BACK! The establishment is inside a very busy plaza. There are many options to dining around this little spot. However, I am very happy that we chose this one. The restaurant itself is extremely clean and is very modern. The way they have it setup makes it feel very spacious and you're not on top of everybody. The staff is extremely friendly, and you can tell that they are constantly busy. We regretted pretty much immediately. We were meeting up with some friends so we had about six people all together. They seated us in the corner which was perfect! We were able to have conversations and didn't have to speak any louder than our normal voices. The food was very good overall and they always came to check on us. Many of us ordered hot teas or hot water, which we were very happy that they would come and rewarm them. We ordered several dishes and truly enjoyed them overall. Wonton soup: 4. Broth was light and there were a good amount of wontons. Shrimp and veggies were yummy. Just wished that it came out hot. It was a tad cool. Spicy catfish was yummy, but seemed to be very westernized. It seemed that it was more like batter fish tossed in sauce and veggies. At most restaurants, the fish is more of a deep fry technique with a little bit more flavor. The pad see ewe beef (4) had the perfect texture. It was very well seasoned with a good amount of beef slices and veggies. It is a little bit more on the sweeter side than what we are used to but still very good. Chicken wings (3) We will probably not order this one. It was basically plain fried chicken wings with sauce on the side. It was okay and the flavor wasn't anything that stood out. All the other dishes were very tasty and we would say a 4 rating. It would probably would have been better if those dishes came out a little bit more warmer. Like we said, the food had a good flavor but just didn't have that wow factor or had enough to make it stand out from other Thai restaurants. The overall experience was very good. The service, the food coming atmosphere will definitely be the reason why we would come back!

Green Curry
Kaia H.

My local Thai restaurant of choice! Love their pad see ew but this time I had the green curry and it was also yummy. I would put myself on the waitlist when you're close and expect a bit of a wait because I went at 8pm on a Sunday and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Servers were super nice and because we came in kinda late, the kitchen was closing soon so they took our order ahead of time. The place itself is nice and family vibes for sure. I'll be back!

My husband and I were craving Thai food a few days ago, so we went to Basil & Co. in Diamond Bar. I had previously tried their sister restaurant, Ari's Thai Eatery in Azusa, and was satisfied with it. We arrived around 11:00 a.m. and noticed that several tables were already occupied, even though they had just opened at 11 a.m. The place was welcoming with modern decor, and the seats were comfortable. We ordered Red Curry with rice (mild) chicken ($17.99), and Shrimp Pad Thai ($20.99) for both of us. The presentation of both dishes was great, but the Red Curry with chicken was the true standout. Boasting a perfect balance of heat and creaminess, the curry was remarkably savory. The restaurant offers customizable spice levels, allowing you to increase the heat if you prefer a spicier dish. I'm glad I opted for the mild spice level, as it still delivered a satisfying and noticeable kick. The Shrimp Pad Thai was also impressive, featuring a well-executed balance of savory and sweet flavors. The service was great, and it's definitely a great Thai food spot in Diamond Bar, and it deserves 5 stars. One minor issue: the entrance door was stiff. We saw some customers had to pull it several times, leading us to believe the restaurant was not open yet.

Tom Kha (Coconut) Soup
Vince N.

Basil & Co is a modern restaurant boasting traditional thai flavors. It is located by the freeway in Diamond Bar and tucked away in the corner of a plaza. The food here is good, nothing too remarkable but it gives you that warm, hearty feeling you want from traditional cultural cuisine. The tom kha (coconut) soup with shrimp was the highlight of my visit. Absolutely delicious and comes out hot and ready to eat. I can say that the spicy fried rice with chicken was enhanced greatly by the addition of juice from the lime that they provided, but was a bit lacking in flavor at first. Those first two dishes along with the stellar service and beautiful interior warrant 4 or 5 stars easily. However, the pad thai was not my favorite bite of food ever. It came a bit overcooked, the noodles being mushy and soft instead of chewy like I expected. The flavors and taste were solid, with the pad thai being a bit too sweet for my liking, even with the lime. But I did not enjoy the feeling of the noodles in my mouth. Overall, I think this place has lots to ride home about. A beautiful interior design, modernized dining areas, with big glass windows that let in a lot of natural light. The soup here is phenomenal, and the fried rice is good. I think if I came here again and ordered different dishes I would end up giving it 4 or even 5 stars, but that day was not today. Recommend you try it out. 7/10.

We met our son here for a weekday lunch ... and really enjoyed the experience. Fortunately, we made a reservation because the restaurant was packed at 1:00pm -- the only open table was ours. FOOD (5/5) For lunch, we enjoyed: Braised Duck Noodle Soup (5/5) -- Delicious duck broth and noodles with assertive star anise flavor containing tender braised duck leg and wing section. This was one of the best duck noodle soups I've had anywhere. ($20.99) Spicy Catfish (5/5) -- Battered and lightly fried catfish -- perfect -- served with eggplant, bell pepper, carrot, basil, and rice. Excellent dish. ($24.99) Eggplant Basil with Pork (4/5) -- Basil is my favorite herb in Thai food, and it really came through in the eggplant stir fry. Very good and tasty. ($18.99) Overall, the spice levels were spot-on. AMBIANCE (4/5) The full restaurant had a loud noise level, making it difficult to carry on a conversation. Interior decor was simple but very nice. Lots of hard surfaces. SERVICE (5/5) -- We were greeted warmly. Overall service was excellent. Basil & Co. is off-putting our beaten track, but we'll be back.

Yellow Pumpkin Curry

My family and I love going to this place to get our fix of Thai food! Our favorite dish has consistently been the Yellow Pumpkin Curry. I've also always loved the Tom Kha Soup. Everything is super flavorful. They had really cute decor up for Valentine's Day. Service is always fantastic - servers are attentive and always proactively assist with refilling waters and providing additional utensils/plates.

My sister wanted Thai food during her visit and our favorite Thai restaurant in West Covina closed down.. Luckily I remembered that this place existed and it wasn't too far from all of us (all coming from different areas - LA, the Valley... okay it was far for those from the Valley LOL), Rowland Heights). And I also remembered that I really liked this place! It's always busy no matter what time i come (lunch or dinner). The restaurant is decently sized but as busy as it gets during peak meal times, they might want to get a bigger place. Strip mall or street parking is available. They keep a few chairs outside for those waiting to be seated. We waited in the car because it was a cold night. We had put our name in at the front when we arrived and was told it was about a 30 minute wait but that everyone needed to be here to get seated. They wouldn't seat us till our entire party (a party of 8 plus a baby) was present so just a heads up on that. There were 2 other parties about the same size as ours so that took up most of the restaurant. But once we were seated, our waitress greeted us right away getting our drinks order and asking if we wanted any appetizers. We were ready to order since we've been looking at the menu during our 30 minute wait. We got the crispy egg rolls for the tablr and pretty much ordered a bunch of dishes to share family style. Pad Thai. Drinking Noodles. Pad See Ew. Cucumber Salad. Tom Kha (Coconut) Soup. Crab Fried Rice. Crispy Banana Rolls for dessert. We wanted mango sticky rice but they were sold out - we're gonna try that next time. This place is popular and after eating there (my 3rd time btw), I can see why. The ambiance is good. The location in Diamond Bar is good. There's plenty of parking. But best of all, the food and service is good. Not many places can have their customers say that. A cute place for date night or a good meal with family and friends. Now my sister wants to eat here every time she comes to visit.

- got sat in within 10 minutes, the place was packed on a weekday lunch wowie! waited 40 minutes for food though... - CALAMARI IS BOMB nice and crispy. it's rlly light doesn't make me feel like sick of it (generally do with fried foods). the sauce is supposed to be seafood-based but i think it's some sort of basil mayo which isn't to my preference. i preferred it without the sauce - the braised duck noodles were delicious the broth is a on the sweeter side but i don't mind ! odd pairing dipping the calamari in the broth was a nice combo

Mango Sticky Rice

Tidy, welcoming, and modern. Visited for lunch and it was a completely pleasant experience. Margareth (our server) was kind, accommodating, and friendly. Our drinks stayed filled w/o us having to ask and she even offered a sample of the Vietnamese coffee, before we pulled the trigger to order it. Her service matched with the food quality & restaurant setting. All our food came out hot, quickly, and accurate. It was our first visit, but we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the Diamond bar area.

Mango Sticky Rice

Tried here the other night. There's room for improvement on their service but the food was decent. Here's my rating: Pad Thai with fried tofu 5/5 Green curry with chicken 3/5 Mango sticky rice 4/5- only bc it was $15... I really enjoyed their pad Thai with fried tofu. It was delicious! Green curry however was a little bland. It's not the spice but the flavor isn't quite there. Feels like something is missing. Mango sticky rice was good but it was way too much and way too expensive. It was as expensive as an entree. I wish they would serve half the portion for half the price. Service was okay. I wish the server gave us more time to think about the dessert. When I asked her if we could have 3 min to think about it she said no the kitchen is closing so you have to order right now, which I understand but I feel like she could've done last call on other tables first then come back to us so we would have more time to decide.

Papaya Salad
Rhina M.

Everything we ordered was so delish. There was no dish we didn't like and looking forward to come back to. We are definitely coming back for more. The crying tiger really takes a while to make. It was cooked just like we want it. The service was excellent! The ambiance was inviting, clean and inviting. We can't wait to come back for more! Highly recommend!

Drunken Noodle
Shirley C.

Trying out this place for the first time. Surprised that on a Tuesday night this place is packed! We were seated right away with swift service. We ordered drunken noodle and braised duck noodle soup. Food came out quick. We also ordered Thai tea, but it didn't come even after we got our food. Apparently our server didn't put that in or forgot. Another server quick took our drink order and made for us. Place echos a lot with the hard wall and the acoustic with customers talking loudly. That's alright. I like the light with the bamboo covered lighting. But they also decorated the walls with cheap looking balloons for Easter and St. Patrick's Day totally cheapened the entire vibe of the restaurant. It's so not needed. Food is fairly expensive. The other Thai restaurant across the street has cleaner updated look and reasonable price than here. Just saying.

We got southern curry noodles, flaming drunken noodle at extra spicy, and Che Po. The curry noodles were good we got the flat noodles. Though my wife likes it more savory I like it more coconutty. Has this place gone through new ownership?…read more I used to frequent Tantawan Thai Cuisine at least once a week -- it was my go to Thai spots because it's nearby. I would always order the Thai boat noodles, Pad Kee Mao, or Pad Thai, and they were consistently flavorful, bold, and satisfying every time. These three dishes were on constant rotation. Lately though, something feels very different. The flavor and overall taste of the dishes have noticeably changed. The Thai boat noodles no longer have that rich, deep broth, the pad kee mao isn't as smoky and punchy, and the pad thai tastes flatter and not as saucey than it used to. The food just doesn't hit the same. On top of that, the employees were clearly new. Service has been noticeably slower, and they repeatedly ask the same questions multiple times when I phone in my order. I've always mentioned that I don't want liver in my Thai boat noodles and that I like my pad thai spicy -- and before, that was never an issue or a back and forth conversation. Now, I'm asked the same clarifying questions over and over, and I'm even told that they "don't make pad thai spicy," which was never the case before. It's honestly disappointing because this used to be such a reliable weekly staple for me. I'm not sure if there's been a change in ownership, staff, or recipes, but the consistency in both food and service just isn't there anymore. I really hope they can bring back the quality and experience that made me a regular in the first place.

However, I can't exactly say the same for their tom yum noodles. It's by far the worst I've had anywhere unfortunately. The soup is mildly tangy and pretty light, but kinda flat in terms of flavor. The Cucumber Salad is refreshing and balances out the meat-heavy lineup. The Roasted Fat Beef & Eggplant is unctuous and savory. We like the Golden Pot too for its bright and tangy broth. It even comes with free unlimited broth refills. The only downside? I wish they'd bring back the Durian Pizza! One thing that sets this place apart is the ordering system. If you're not big on interacting with staff, you'll appreciate the tablet - just tap what you want and it goes straight to the kitchen. Need anything else? There's a call button at the table. The service isn't really warm or chatty, but it's efficient and gets the job done. I'm always impressed by the interior's rustic charm. The ornate and festive decor looks warm and inviting, making this spot perfect for sharing plates, hanging out, and lingering conversations. Bonus: there's even karaoke for anyone ready to sing their heart out! The crowd loves to hoot and holler for those brave souls, no matter how in or out of tune they are. It's just fun vibes and solid food here :)

Food was very good, the pork belly was pretty filling, and the garlic enoki mushrooms were sooo delicious. Everything was seasoned very well. == SERVICE == You order on an ipad and the workers bring out the food for you. It's kept warm on a heated plate while you eat the other skewers. == AMBIANCE == It feels like you're transported to China when you step inside Little Skewer. The decoration inside is beautiful. It seems that at night, there are also singers or performances since there is a mic at the corner of the room.

Their mala beef noodle soups are solid, the broth is rich and the noodles are firm enough. The restaurant has very generous portions for their appetizers. The seaweed app is a heaping mountain and the popcorn chicken always comes on a large plate. Their drinks are also big so it's great to share with the group. There's generally no wait when we go, weekdays or weekend. Otherwise we get seated pretty quickly after a small wait. Service is super quick with piping hot dishes.

Their dan dan noodles with rice noodles was savory, with that lovely peanut base sauce. Their Crab & pork xiao lou bao is super delicious. Their skin is thin and the soup inside just fills your mouth. Honestly i think it's better than Din tai fung for that alone. The beef tomato noodle was filled with thick, tender beef chunks, and the diced tomato was actually sauted with savory seasoning. You can see many locals come here to enjoy excellent quality comfort food. From Ordering to being served was a matter of minutes. Great for limited lunch break people! Very clean, simply decorated place.

I always get 14b (rare filet mignon), and it is consistently great. Very generous portions without sacrificing quality! I just wouldn't recommend the iced coffee here. I'm vietnamese and love vietnamese coffee, but theirs is too concentrated to drink. It's very sweet and thick.. and a bit of a burnt aftertaste to me.

I ordered a house special pho, egg rolls and Vietnamese hot coffee with condensed milk. I was expecting the pho comes out first as usually that's the case since the soup is ready made, pho noodle doesn't take long to cook. but the egg rolls actually came out first piping hot. I was also pleasantly surprised that I can taste some meat inside the egg rolls. Pho and coffee came about the same time. pho noodle was standard size with enough pho noodle (still too much for my taste). the beef slices do have some pink (raw) color when it was served. soup was flavorful enough. coffee was too sweet for my taste. I even asked for more coffee to dilute the sweetness but didn't help much. total bill was around $26+tips for 1 person.
