Great service and awesome rooftop to eat on. Super friendly staff and awesome ambiance always

Basil & Board is good, food is enjoyable but lacking the wow factor that would garner a higher rating. We had roof top reservations and the atmosphere was great. We shared two pizzas and three assorted bruschetta. The youngest had a mini pepperoni and that was as expected. My husband had the Butchers Wife, he liked it. I had the Pacific Crest Trail it was good the hazelnuts added a pleasant texture element. Of the Bruschetta we ordered the St Anthony was the best. Our waitress made a mistake and we ended up with an extra pepperoni and honestly that was the best out of everything we tried. Of our other pizzas no one topping really stood out, the pepperoni was a perfect mix of pepperoni and cheese. We left saying it was nice to try something else but when we're next in the mood for flat wood fired pizza you'll find us at Mod Pizza. read more

Loved the food and atmosphere. Went twice in one week with different friends and they all enjoyed it! I had the La Capra Rossa both times and couldn't be happier. The fire-roasted beets were ‍! read more

Tried it while I was visiting the area and I would highlight recommend the bruschetta. 10/10 and the customer service was great too

Went out with daughter for Fathers Day, chose to eat indoors..although the rooftop looks great. JUst way too hot this early evening. WE were sat down at a table for two and the server was there fast. Ordered their garlic bread for an appetizer and it was delicious but too much for 2 people. So be warned servings are big. I ordered a salad ( an italian themed one , cant remember the name)..ordered the full salad. Again huge and delicious, their lemon vinaigrette dressing was delicious and nice and light. Took most home in a box with the garlic bread. Daughter ordered a pizza and she said it was fantastic. Very nice place indeed. BUt be warned big servings so come hungry! read more

One of the best pizzas I've ever had. I still think about it a week later . I got the butcher's wife with vegetarian sausage. It was oily but the flavors were delicious! My only complaint is that the woman who answered the phone seemed very stressed and made it seem like they were too busy to seat me without a reservation. I went anyways and there were at least 15 open tables.... I wish they delivered to Portland! read more

If you haven't sat on the rooftop at Basil and Board, you are not only missing out on a great view, but really good food and service! There's a new menu, but our favorite salads are still on it. Best salads and pricing for same, in town! Service is great and even if you sit downstairs you won't be disappointed---Order the sparkling water when you arrive for a nice change from just regular water....such a nice touch!! read more

The pizza we ordered was not good and the staff was very rude. I would not go back or recommend to anyone. Aweful experience.

This is really great pizza. The sauce was awesome and everything tasted and looked fresh. We ended up coming to Salem for hubby's Ironman event last July. If I remember correctly we weren't able to modify the pizza toppings, but it forced my Littles to get out of her comfort zone and taste something different. It was delicious enough that we ended up eating here twice during the weekend we were in Salem. The pizookie was a great finish to our meal. Lovely little spot read more

Seriously so good. Every time I go, I am impressed with the food--and I've gotten something different every time. Tonight I got the mojito (yum!!), the garlic bread (OMG SO GOOD), the special Georgia pizza with peaches, lemon zest, Basil, onions, chicken, and BBQ sauce (why had I never thought of peaches on pizza before?!). Then we got the basil lime sugar cookie with vanilla ice cream and raspberry purée on top. So so delicious. Try the rooftop seating. It's a must for summer eating. . read more

Have eaten here twice, always order online. Most of the food is incredible. Love the Badda pizzas, the bruschetta are great. However, have given two chances at the margarita pizza (called the Basil and Board) and it's a little rinks dink for a signature pizza. Both times it's been mostly sauce. The second time we ordered extra cheese, and it's still skimpy. We would like to be able to get a beautiful margarita pizza here someday. read more

I booked the rooftop for an engagement party for my daughter. It was best experience! Frankie my coordinator, was so helpful and answered all my questions, was there when we arrived to set everything up. The food was amazing! The servers were wonderful and accommodating. It was a perfect setting for this party. I would definitely recommend Basil & Board for any event you are planning. I would certainly use them again! read more

I love sitting on the rooftop. The food is really good, but I've only had pizza or the flatbreads. The service is also good.

Wonderful pizza joint. Very trendy and clean establishment. Loads of seating and well lit. The line can get long to order your food and then sit down, but well worth it! Tried for the first time the cauliflower based pizza and it was awesome! I stopped eating most carbs for a bit and this was an excellent option! So good! Will definitely be coming back here. read more

Good food good service and reasonable prices I can't wait to check out the bar up stairs!

Decided to give this place another chance! Great food & staff! Spectacular specialty cocktails!

The first time we went there and ordered pizza. It was really good but the last time we went there it was not very good too bad most restaurants can't stay consistent in Salem. We are not returning again. read more

We ordered takeout from here on a week night during COVID and the staff was so friendly. I ordered online through their website and it was so easy to use. Our order was ready within 20 minute and once we arrived, an employee came out to the parking lot with our order. We ordered a Butchers Wife pizza on a hand-tossed crust and it was very good. The Oregonzola salad was delicious (could feed 4). And the lemon bar and brownie hit the spot. read more

I am baffled at some of these reviews...the food is AMAZING! Husband & I went for the first time tonight (it was packed/very busy)...excellent experience! I have not one complaint! Food, service, ambiance, wait time, etc etc were all fantastic! FINALLY a restaurant that knows how to do a real salad (NOT cheap gross iceberg). To me price reflected quality....excellent! No more than any other decent local restaurant. To be honest I was apprehensive after reading reviews but wanted to see for myself. So glad I did! Bunch of whiney bitches writing tacky reviews...ridiculous!! Give em' a minute, they just opened, geez. read more

Love the rooftop seating. Full bar with great selection. Menu is limited and can choose to "sub" or "build your own" for a price. The meat and cheese breads were beautiful and tasted ok but the boards were missing on presentation. I'd suggest adding some thin sliced apples, grapes and crumbled feta or blue cheese crumbles service was slow but very friendly. read more

What a total let down this place turned out to be. Especially the service! It was so poor. We chose to come here on a Sunday as not many places are open, to celebrate a birthday. We were a party of 4 and when we came in the place wasn't very busy maybe two other tables had customers. Our server brought water cups and a pitcher of water, plus menus. After a couple minutes we noticed a large puddle developing on the table. One of the cups must have had a leak or the pitcher. When the server came back we told her, two from our party were blocking the water from spilling onto them as the puddle continued to grow. I had to add my own hands to hold back the water all the while we thought she was going to take the cups and pitcher away...bring us a towel. Nope she just stood there watching us struggle with now a table top covered in water. We took our cups poured back the water into the pitcher and asked her to take it away as it was obviously leaking. She finally took it away but she didn't bring back a towel. Ugh I mean how dumb?! We are still holding back water with our hands!? We asked for a towel to wipe the table, she sighed left and came back with one, she tossed it toward the end of the table in front of one of our party members who had been holding water back with both hands for 10 minutes now. She didn't even bother to help wipe the mess!? She just stood there , silently as we cleaned up the mess. Then she asked what we wanted to order, no apologies and she left the soaking wet towel there. The busboy came walking by from clearing another table and we flagged him down for another dry towel and to take the wet one. Then another server came and said our original server was going on lunch so he would be taking over. Fine. But funny how our previous server was serving the new table that walked in and sat in the booth next to us. The food came and it was ok, predictable in layout and taste. We had charcuterie and pizza. For the prices, we were not impressed by what we actually got. Seemed over priced and as we got our food, no one came by to see how we were doing, no one checked on our meals or if we wanted anything else. The staff were all gathered in a huddle chatting, laughing in the kitchen area with their backs to us and those facing us never bothered to even look at us. We had to yell out for a server to come bring us the check and a to go box. A very lack luster experience especially for the cost of the place. I absolutely do not recommend this place save your money. It gets 2 stars because we were able to eat the food, even though overpriced. read more

Came in to celebrate my GFs birthday with her family and friends. I had the adult grilled cheese with a Caesar salad. The flavors of the grilled cheese were good, but the amount of cheese was very lacking. The salad was just so so. The amount of dressing wasn't a lot but you could get hints of Caesar dressing. The best pizza in Salem thus far, but truly more a 3.5 than a 4. The garlic cheese bread is outstanding and is a 4.5. If you are hungry you should consider ordering two pies. Nice person at the register. They did cook it too early as compared to my requested pick up time request, but i was late too in all fairness. Bottom line. I wiĺl be vack. read more

Best vegan pizza I've ever had! Typically I don't eat vegan cheese, as I don't appreciate the slimy texture (I go cheese-less). However, my wife wanted to try the vegan pepperoni pizza so we did...and man was I glad I did. They cooked the cheese longer than most places so it had the nice brown coloring on top, and it made all the difference. The local vegan pepperonis were great too! read more

Let me first say, the food was fairly tasty--but only for me. The restaurant seemed to be either out of everything else my party wanted to order--or had failed to defrost the necessary components to make several dishes. This was a big problem and the communication regarding this issue was poor. For example, at the time I received my order, another member of our party was told their's was unavailable. Another few things. When we arrived at the rooftop, we were seated at an unshaded table, despite there being two shaded tables open. When we asked to move, we were told it seating was on a "first come, first served" basis. Despite us having a reservation and there being multiple shaded tables open, it was presented as an imposition for us to move (though it was allowed). We also never received napkins, utensils, etc. Lastly, and despite being seated for over two hours (mainly due to poor communication and preserving dishes that were no longer available [by 1230pm??]) I was told I could not order another drink. I had 3 over a two hour+ period. The only reason I even wanted another was because we were so delayed by the restaurant. Overall, a very, very disappointing experience. We will not return. Save your money and go somewhere the staff treats you like a paying customer. read more

This place was great. I will visit again. Try the bruschetta board. AMAZING!!!! The service was great!!!!

I had ordered pizza and a side salad. The food was very fulfilling and fresh. They had a walk-in and seating area. It's a lovely place for social events, small or large get togethers. They had fresh drinks which they made in front of you. read more

Truly one of my favorite places for a good unique pizza or delicious sandwich. They have some great salad choices as well. We have never been disappointed eating here. They are a bit spendier but it is definitely worth it for the flavor, freshness and experience of truly delicious food. Customer service is always exceptional. Across the board they are an A+ for me. We ordered from them quite a bit during the pandemic which is how we discovered them and we still frequent them. One of my favorites here in Salem. read more

Went out to dinner here on a Saturday night and it was the perfect place after a long drive from Seattle! Staff is super friendly and gave excellent and prompt service, the food was so delicious- we ordered the bruschetta boards and each was decadent and tasty! Followed that up with a Margherita pizza- which was absolutely amazing! The drinks were very good- I personally got a berry-lemon soda which was simply too good! I wish I could've taken a case of it with me when I left! We sat on the rooftop and the ambiance of it was perfect- it was plenty warm for an August evening, few bugs, and great music! I would definitely recommend! read more
