This is a true hidden gem! We arrived during the winter break and our first night here was perfect…read more We didn't had a reservation, but we were able to find two seats in the bar area. Our bartender was super nice and fast. He came and brought the menus really quick. Our drinks were really good and the food came out really fast. I believe the first night we had the wings and the homemade chips, as well as the ramen !(the wings and chips were perfect). The Asian inspired dish was a little bit spicy but very tasty. The second night we tried the mushrooms crostini and again was perfect. Decent burger, I would have loved the bun a little bit more toasted, and the cheese a little bit more melted but other than that was good. I had a fish dish that night. ( not too crazy about the Brussels sprouts but other than that was good) . Yes, we came back for a third time for New Year's Eve. I really wanted to try the miso Caesar salad and again it was 10 out of 10. Probably the best Caesar salad I had so far! My husband had the steak that night and I had the pasta. Both good. Ma favorite? The salad and dessert. ( apple crisp with ice cream, a must ). The ambiance was really good, we loved the cozy vibes at the bar, the decor, dim lights and especially the 80' music. Can't wait to return!

I'm giving a 4 star rating because it's so close to where we are staying! The vibe is lively and…read morethe decor is quaint. Every time we've been it's full. The service is great, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is ok. I did enjoy the hangar steak (although it was bit dry since I don't put barbeque sauce on my steak) and the salmon was good, but the side couscous with the salmon last night was cold. Tonight we ordered the pork chop (delicious), but the sweet mashed potatoes had the skin on them (?) so I couldn't eat all of them. The Mediterranean baby kale salad was very good, but the chicken was dry. The paper planes cocktails are excellent! Overall a very good experience and definitely recommend.

Room had a fridge and microwave tucked away which came in handy since we had wine and dog food that needed to be refrigerated. Balcony overlooking the mountain is nicer than the one which faces the street, so if you can manage, recommend that side. The "Library" area was super cute and nice to hang out by the fire while enjoying some free coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening. I saw some comments about the front desk being empty late night and that was true, but that thankfully didn't affect our stay. Just need to make sure to get things addressed (towel refills, special requests, etc) during desk service hours. Of note, they have a rule that dogs cannot be left alone in the room if you leave (to go to restaurant for example). While I understand their reasoning for this rule, knowing it in advance would have been helpful, especially since they don't allow dogs in the restaurant. Thankfully Scribner's is just across the street allows dogs in their hangout area and in their restaurant. Dear Mountain Inn (a 10-min drive) also allows dogs in their restaurant, and has great food and a very cozy vibe--highly recommend the burger.

I have stayed here twice and really enjoy the big room sizes and the location. I loved my room…read morewith the walk out patio on the ground level a little bit more then the big room with the loft I most recently had. Whichever room category you select, I recommend paying the extra for the mountain view, otherwise you are looking at the parking lot. My last stay was reasonably priced at $265 for the night, but my stay in September 2024 was $400 per night which I do not feel is worth it for this property or location.

Truly transcendent mexican food with a focus on innovation and local flair driven by Hudson valley…read moreingredients. The space is beautiful, ingredients are all fresh and outstanding, and there's clearly a love for the spot from everyone working at Casa Susanna. The cocktail menu is unique and fun. Yes you could get a margarita, but everything on the menu is so interesting from Raicilla drinks to Carajillos, there's so much to love. The space feels like a film set and you need to make sure you get a reservation so you can enjoy rather than sitting outside or at the bar. Surprisingly reservations were harder to come by than expected the weekend I was there. The dishes are all great, with the Duck being my standout dish, just perfectly cooked and really exemplifying the beauty of Hudson Valley + Mexican cuisine. The tetela was also a real standout despite the simplicity of the dish. It leaned into good mexican food, withou ttrying to do too much. Each and every cocktail was fun and good! We'll be back, but not too often. The prices are high, and match the quality of the ingredients, but at $100 a person or more, it was not cheap.

Since they are already finalists, according to James Beard, I'll spend this review explaining more…read morewhy I only gave it three stars. The food in general was well prepared, delicious and certainly had a sophisticated knowledge of spicing in flavoring. But it's more the minor details that stops an experience from being a really wonderful one. So here are some details, you may think I'm crazy or you may relate. The first was coffee: they didn't have decaf and they don't have half-and-half. I'm not going to speculate why, but for quite a few of us decaf is a true pleasure and it'd be nice to have that available. To the waitresses credit she offered to bring me milk and cream, so I could make my own half-and-half? That was a first! The second was the hot chocolate: the actual hot chocolate was quite delicious, Mexican style with some cinnamon. But it was topped with a mountain of whipped cream and some small crunchy pieces. I think it's pretty standard nowadays that when you're going to top a drink like that the staff tends to ask whether you like whipped cream or not. I really dislike whipped cream so had to scoop all that stuff off. The next one was just simply funny: when you're ordering a side order of eggs, one option they list on the menu is a sunny side up egg, one of the other options is to have a "fried egg". I asked the waitress what exactly a fried egg was, she didn't know. She asked the chef, and apparently they didn't know either. So I ordered it over easy, hoping that was doable, but I just got a sunny side up egg instead. And lastly, was the ambience: the space is quite nice and comfortable, but if you're sitting in the outer ring near the windows and it's a very cold winter day (which it was when we ate) expect to be cold in there. They kindly offered to hang our coats, but I had to keep mine on the whole time. Maybe if the insulation and heating system is unable to keep up, you bring in a couple space heaters for the day?
