I'm shocked that I have not yet written a review as I spent quite a few lovely days & evenings here since I learned of it's beauty over the summer. !0 stars for the setting : the view of the exquisite Pontoosuc Lake, wide & lush, for the very caring service & the entire set up including plenty of parking & wide spaces inside, outside & lakeside. Drinks are fabulous, they had an extensive summer menu that included 2 full pages of BMD The food ? a bit of another story. Decent enough, often very good, sometimes disappointing. Order something that you know will be ok even if it is not the best version or exactly as expected. You are here for the warm setting & view, drinks. The food is an added benefit. Great is the Ahi Tuna, nice & rare with seaweed salad, pickled ginger & some drizzle to swipe. Mussels = good. Entrees such as the Pork chop on Spätzle & the Flat iron Steak served over a mound of delicious masked potatoes (no mention of them in the description, but they were great). Some of the sandwiches are ok, the burger. Not recommended is the Cesar Salad, really poor dressed with Kens dressing for something like 12 dollars. Fried Calamari. Out of the bag frozen rings, is unfortunate. The Nachos sound exciting but arrive as an unappealing heap. Keep it simple, when you return you can branch out a bit. It is my favorite venue in the Berkshires, just being able to sit on a huge patio with this view is amazing. Moon rise is beautiful right over the homes & trees in the distance, watching the jet ski's & pontoon boats in the summer. Nothing like it. Reservations in season a must. Great place to have a wedding too..

I had brunch at the proprietary lodge. The food was okay but the ambiance was amazing. Looking over the lake was peaceful. The service was great. Overall had a good time.

Nearly sliced my forearm on this.

We stopped in for an after-work drink, which we hoped to enjoy on the terrace which was ninety-percent unoccupied at the time, (4:00 p.m.) However, once we informed the hostess of our intention to simply enjoy a cocktail or two, we were basically informed that having just a drink apparently didn't qualify to sit with the guests on the patio. Instead, we (and our drinks) were banished like Cinderella to the "lawn area" where we had our choice of occupying either three broken, dirty, spider-infested wooden chairs (one with a cracked armrest and screw sticking out) or a jacked-up metal lawn seat sporting filthy, moldy-scented cushions (one of which was missing), adorned with aged spider webs which was tossed out onto a patch of bumble bee-filled grass. We could clearly see that more than enough available seating on the patio, but since we weren't shelling out the minimum expected, we were seated like we were the help instead of paying patrons. Tacky, unrefined, and low brow. Plus, the place smells moldy, just sayin'! Won't be returning any time soon.

I had lunch at Proprietor's Lodge Memorial Day weekend. What beautiful place and it has a wonderful veranda overlooking the lake with the Berkshire mountains in the background. Service was excellent and our server was very attentive. Lunch was serviced warm and our food was excellent. My girlfriend ordered a glass of wine at the end of meal and we walked down to the shore and sat in Adirondack chairs provided by the lodge, taking in the view and warmth of the sun. I will be back and this is a wonderful restaurant with a 11 out of ten view. I highly recommend!

Institutional ambiance striving to be someplace that doesn't belong in The Berkshires. Includes mediocre food and terrible pizza.

Quality of food at Sunday brunch was below par with a school cafeteria. All seemed to be stale, luke-warm 2 day old leftovers.

Service and food was great. Our only issue was it's really loud inside to the point it's hard to have a conversation.

We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant has an elegant, refined atmosphere, with crisp white tablecloths adding to its classic setting. We began with a pistachio martini, which was creamy, smooth, and delicious. Our server, Caylah T., graciously went over the evening's specials with us. She was pleasant, attentive, and professional throughout the meal, making the experience all the more enjoyable. For appetizers, we chose the red and yellow beet salad with arugula from the evening's specials. It was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We also shared the tempura coconut shrimp, which was wonderfully flavorful. Four perfectly prepared shrimp were served over a small accompanying salad with a delicious coconut sauce that complemented the dish beautifully. It was an outstanding appetizer and one of the highlights of our meal. For our entrées, Hubby enjoyed the organic salmon, while I chose the seafood fra diavolo. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. My seafood fra diavolo was particularly satisfying, with fresh-tasting seafood and a wonderful balance of flavors. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience, and will certainly return the next time we're in the area.

Hugely disappointed…read more Two stars for ample parking (a rarity in Pittsfield), our server, and KENO. Menu looked right up our alley. Had nachos to start and the Hudpucker Smashburger. Wanted to keep it simple and at its core competency. Nachos were dry, luke warm and had huge strips of romaine lettuce - like salad size (there's irony coming up). 2oz soufflé cups of sour cream and jarred salsa were our only refuge. Made a huge mistake and got the steak add on. Cold, stringy steak-um type product thrown on the top in one large lump. Their smashburger is not a thin smashed patty that may come to your mind. It's a standard 6oz pre-form that they call "smash" as an excuse to put a steak weight on it and cook it beyond recognition. The brioche bun is "fake brioche." Has the outer look, but is super dry and tasteless. The irony was I ordered and paid for a side salad. It came in a tiny soup cup and in it had the shredded lettuce and pico I would expect on the nachos. Just really was hopeful. I could see a good vibe at times in there if you're under 25yrs old. Otherwise, the atmosphere offered little to off-set the meal.
