For starters the pervious owner's were great, never had any problems, they had great service. New owners or management are terrible! I have been going to this location for 27 years. I sent in two garments for dry cleaning, went to pick up and said couldn't find them, they give us a day they would look and call me back, they never called me back, so I went back, same result with different emplo every time. Did this 4 different times, same result. Last 2 times they basically called a liar, and sent me some video over my phone. They ruined my cashmere sweater. They refuse to make it right. Telling my husband that it was my fault I brought in a shirt with holes. When I knew my sweater was pristine. There was nothing wrong with it when I brought it to them. The owner is very rude, calling us liars. I will never use these cleaners again. He will be buying the location in Canyon Creek, so beware! So upset right now as I just picked up a pair of curtains that were to be rehemmed. One was shorter so the gentleman's wife was to make them the same size. (ie make one "match" the other. Not only do they NOT match, but it looks like a 22 year old did the work. These were velvet Vrate and Barrel $210 a panel. Now trashed!!! read more

Protect your clothes, and DO NOT USE Barton & Howell Dry Cleaner. I have spent $300+ on dry cleaning in the last month or so, which equates to about 50 items. They destroyed two shirts that had only been worn once each, and the owner refused to work with me on making amends for which his company destroyed. These items were brand new and had no issues before taking them to the dry cleaner. When I picked them up, not only did they have a hard time finding my clothes because they incorrectly put them in their computer, but they also put a hole in one shirt on the shoulder and a stain on the front of another shirt. I returned the shirt with the stain, thinking they could fix it, but then they BLEACHED it, leaving a white spot where it once was. See pics for more details on the damage. Once this happened, the clerk suggested that I talk to the owner, which took over a week for him to reach out to me while I followed up with them persistently. He even mentioned that he works in corporate America and wants to provide "the best possible customer service," which could not be further from the truth. The clerk said this had happened before, and another person was in the shop while I was who had their pants messed up when they were supposed to be altered. Clearly, this is a common issue with this establishment. Upon talking to the owner, he made it clear that he does not hold himself responsible for the care of the clothes that he is cleaning, and he will not provide any compensation to make you whole if you have a problem; the only thing that he was willing to do was to give me credit towards future dry cleaning where I am sure they will mess up even more clothes. This business does not understand how to work with customers and take ownership of their own faults. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this business. read more

Because of that I've started taking my clothes here for cleaning and every time I've been very pleased. After 19 years with another dry cleaner in the neighborhood I elected to change to Barton-Howell. They've been in business for all the time I've lived in East Richardson and now I regret not doing it sooner. Their service is far better than where I've been going and they do same day turn around if you drop off your cloths in the morning. This morning I pulled up to the front door with my express drop off bag and they come outside and got the bag. The dry cleaning that They've done for me the last 4 weeks has been great and I am so much happier. Does NOT stand behind their service or let customer know of possible risk or damage to items during laundering service. Friendly staff, however ultimately I was completely unsatisfied with service. Had a brand new cotton comforter washed, upon leaving it there I was NOT advised that it could ultimately RUIN the comforter due to possible stuffing shifting. I was only told this upon pick up & it was mentioned some fluff had shifted. I did not take it out of large bag until I brought home (which I regret now of course). The comforter is now smaller and all corners have completely lost stuffing and cannot be shifted. Called to let them know I was not satisfied. Was told they are not responsible for these types of issues. Clearly they do not consider or take pride in their services. I paid cash, which I regret now bc i cannot stop payment (I paid cash b/c it was mentioned that was a preferred option). I asked for my money back and was told they are not responsible for damage they in fact created, I asked for my money back again and she kept arguing that it wasn't their fault. I told her she should've told me the potential laundering risks BEFORE I dropped it off. Over $40 lost. All that would have solved this issue would be a refund of $43.30. Customer beware. read more

The first time I picked up my clothes, the sweaters had tissue wrapped in between folds. It was like opening a gift! Everything I've brought into Barton-Howell has returned in better shape. We have brought in several rugs for cleaning and are very happy with the results! I also brought in an antique wedding dress; it was turning yellow and I wanted to see if it could be salvaged ...I'm so happy I did because it was restored perfectly! I was going to wear the dress for bridals, but now it's so beautiful, I'm planning to wear it for my actual wedding. If I remember, I'll post before and after photos after the wedding. I started searching for a good quality tailor at a practical price for my husband yesterday. The first place I walked in was B&H tailor on beltline& central. The owner was sitting down in the chair and did not stand while ''I" greeted him. I asked specifically for pricing on men's slack hemmed. The owner abruptly states 'if you are looking for cheap prices, we are not the place!' I respond 'Are you kidding me?, I'm not looking for cheap. I typically do not review a store or a product. When I do it, something must have gone wrong. Be alert that my review does not represent the whole population. Maybe it rarely happens, but it happened to me. I dried cleaned my dress suit and dress pant a couple of months ago, and after I have taken back I did not use them for quite a long time just hanging them over. While today, June 25th, when I finally need to move house and pack everything up, I noticed there are FIVE small holes punched near the ankle part and the fabric are completely gone because of the holes there. My best guess is the store tried to attach something on the pants and ruined them. Since it has been so long and I no longer has my receipt, it is not worth it to run back to the store and ask for a fix, while I am packing my stuff. If you imagine, the store probably is aware of these holes when they removed their punch machine and their stickers, but they did not mention a thing hoping I would never go back and question them. They are correct because I have no time for this matter. But I do have five mins to write a review. Anyway, this is my first time using a dry clean service, and this incident happens to me. From a statistics standpoint, the store might have been doing something wrong and has not realized it. You might be the lucky ones for 90% of the time, but the 10% happens on me. The lesson: you better check your stuff fully from bottom to the top, from inside out, touch it all over before you happily take them back and then get sad. read more

My boyfriend and I use this dry cleaner regularly! The owner of this business is always so kind and diligent, and gets our clothes cleaned in a timely fashion. Each time we have had clothes cleaned, they end up beautifully clean and stain free. My boyfriend's expensive dress shirts and pants for work are always pressed and stain free, even when we take it in with oil stains. There was even an instance where a waiter dropped a plate of chicken alfredo all over my cashmere winter coat, but when we picked it up, it looked good as new! We highly recommend his service! I sent my husband to this cleaners with a set of sheets and a quilt....to be laundered.......wash, dry and fold. He went to pick it up and was told it was $75!!! I called the cleaners and asked why it was soo high. Man said they pressed the sheets after washing them for total of $50!! Quilt was washed Dried and folded for $25. I think people should know that this cleaners will take you to the cleaners!!! The owner was quite rude and did not seem to care about charging $50 for the sheets. Took a new dress in to be cleaned and be picked up the following day. My dress was not ready and in fact in worse condition then when I dropped it off. When I told the associate to have James (owner) call me to discuss; he never called. So I called him, he had no clue what I was talking about. I asked him to fix the dress at no charge because it was their fault not mine. He was rude, condescending and argumentative. He told me the charge would be $30!! This was a simple hem stitch. When I told him I would not pay for the mistake that happened on their watch he finally agreed to not charging me then hung up on me!! The following day his wife called me at work and proceeded to argue the fault and the charge along with the charge back for the original cleaning. After all the drama I felt they owned me my original charge for the cleaning. They refused to return the original charge for the cleaning, said it was the principal of the matter. They will ruin your clothing then gang up on you! Not to mention take zero responsibility for any damages they cause.
