This was my first time eating at Barton G. Came for my birthday and I had an amazing time. The drinks and dishes are super over the top and are meant to be more than dinner but an experience!! Each one has a specific theme. My salmon came with a samurai sword and my friends popcorn chicken came in a popcorn machine. Definitely a good spot for celebrations, birthdays, anniversary's etc. I expected the food to be expensive but wow it's also one of the over the top features about this place and I have to say the salmon wasn't the best I've ever had. Also we had made a reservation weeks in advance and when we arrived they told us they had no space inside and would have to wait by the bar until something opened up. I hate to give out bad reviews but this place was no where near the hype it has. The only good thing about this place was the max and cheese and that's why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one. We came for a birthday dinner for 8 guests. I understand that maybe 8 people is a lot for a wait staff but everyone at the restaurant was in a large group and only a couple of tables had fewer than 4 guests. First off we ordered the wagyu burnt ends and popcorn shrimp to start. The shrimp (I didn't eat it but from what the rest were saying) was good and came in a cool popcorn machine. Fine. Doable. But that beef had this weird beer foam on top with some kind of pear mixed in that was inedible. I've never once complained about food being disgusting in my life because I don't believe in "bad tasting" food but that was the worst thing I've ever tried. We ate around and picked at the burnt ends which were pretty good. Next we ordered our mains. I shared the jerk chicken with a friend and it was alright nothing special and definitely not worth the $50 price tag. I've had better jerk chicken from a food truck. Ok didn't complain about that. But my friend who ordered the fish said hers was VERY fishy tasting and told the waiter to which he said "Ok I'm gonna investigate to see what was wrong" instead of offering to replace it with fresh fish or something else (she didn't want anything else considering her appetite was ruined). Whatever not a big deal. What really got us was the fact that it was our friends birthday and we specifically told the waiter in secret to surprise her. He came by and asked us if we wanted dessert but we preferred a round of shots. He comes back a couple of minutes later with a tray of shots and doesn't even sing happy birthday. Not only that HE DROPPED THE ENTIRE TRAY OF DRINKS DOWN MY FRIENDS BACK AND DOESNT EVEN APOLOGIZE. just stood there in shock at what happened. We're looking at one another in disbelief and he comes back with a new tray of drinks and has the audacity to charge us 100$ for those shots. How embarrassing. We didn't mind to pay the 900$ bill and didn't even mention it but it was really the worst experience I'd ever had in an establishment. I do not recommend anyone coming here I am surprised they've still managed to stay open considering the food is mediocre at best and the only thing you're paying for is for their advertising. read more

The most instagramed restaurant in Miami . So yeah I just had to go . This place is amazing and so much fun ! You wouldn't know it was a restaurant from the street but once inside your senses are awakened . Dim lighting and a super friendly staff great and seat you . Once you start looking around and hearing all of the "ooohs and ahhhs" you can't help but feel Mesmerized . This place is great for birthday celebrations. I went here with my gf for our anniversary. The place is loud af. If you're trying to have a conversation as, one-on-one, this place isn't it. I do say do it as an experience, some tug you won't do again,but not on the regular. The food was ok. The ideas for the food are interesting. We did enjoy the popcorn shrimp and lobster pop tarts ( there were 2, and they were tiny). We enjoyed watching all the different foods come out to other tables as well as ours. The Marie Antoinette cotton candy was huge. We got the ice cream sundae to share, I can make better brownies at home. We got a ton of ice cream, and a smidge of fudge. Great experience with something so unique and grand. Yes it's pricey but the service there was impressive. To me, it's not just the food or presentation, but the service is always playing a big role to my experience. When one of my friends went to restroom, my server brought our dessert back to the kitchen coz she didn't want my friend to miss the show. She was already half way to our table. That was very nice of her. Anyway for the food, the presentation was top notch. The taste was alright. We didn't get a set menu (I believe it's around $90 each) coz we want to choose from the full menu option. For appetizer, we got the devil egg and the smoked Wagyu (Once in a blue moon). They both were ok. Devil egg was a devil egg LOL. To be honest, I chose this dish coz I want to take a picture of a chicken in a cage!!! I liked the Wagyu itself but I didn't like a Blue Moon beer foam. Again the presentation made me felt like I had to love this dish. For entree, we got a Cowboy ribeye, a Fried chicken in a waffle cones ( Let's get fried), a Cajun mixed seafood (Seafood bubble bath), and a Truffle lobster Mac n cheese. I would say we enjoyed everything but it wasn't something over the standard. For dessert, we got the dollar bill which was very fun to watch when my server burned/ melted the golden chocolate shell. We didn't get the fancy drinks but I still loved my lychee mojito without a bunch of smoke from the dry ice and a beautiful decoration. My friends chose beer and one of the strong cocktail I don't remember the name. To me it's worth it to come here at least once to experience it. Overall, I was not satisfied. I'll briefly start with the positive takeaways. The atmosphere was good. It's a very cool venue and ideal for a family, especially younger children. As well, we did not have to wait to be seated. They honored our reservation and immediately sat us. The negatives were the food and service. The service was not very good. They were not friendly at all and for the majority of our dinner service, they hovered around us, watching. They were all very short and cold with us, zero attempts were made to build trust and friendliness. The food was awful. It was so incredibly over priced for what you get. I got the short ribs and 90% of it was inedible fat. I raised my concern to my waiter who simple asked me if was done and took my plate. Zero attempt was made at correcting the issue. The seafood creamy pasta was okay but lacked significant flavor profiles. It was creamy and salty, that's it. The best food was the macaroni and cheese, which was still a 5 out of 10. I really enjoyed the experience here! I believe you pay for the experience at restaurants like this. It was like a show looking at the different meals come by. The food was amazing! The best truffle lobster Mac that I've ever had. In the bucket of bones, it was like a sample of all the meats and they were delicious. First time trying lamb chops and I loved them. I disliked how a restaurant that brings in so much money tries to pack so many people into a Tiny space! We were sitting so close to the people at the next tables that I could rest my elbow on their table without trying. The props are so big that they can't fit on the table, especially if there is multiple props. The sever sat it down and immediately tried to take it away before I could get a picture in. The presentation of the food and drinks is unlike anything you've ever seen before! And usually, when a restaurant has a great vibe, the quality and taste of food is lacking...but that's not the case here. The food was delicious! I haven't been to Barton G in a few years, but on my most recent trip to Miami, decided to take a few friends there. Everyone was blown away! The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars, is because we made reservations for outdoors, and we not told that their outdoors would be closed; and also wish our waiter told us how big the portions are. We definitely over ordered. Even for a party of 8, we tried most of the appetizers and also each got an entree. We are all mad here... It's been awhile since my last time at Barton G; and it did not disappoint. For those of you who haven't been here, Barton G's infuses over the top food presentation with good food. If you don't get it, you don't get how a city of 3 million people was carved out of swamp land and Miami Beach was a minor barrier island. In essence: We're not normal down here and neither should our food presentation. Barton G's has a nitro infused cocktail bar. I had an old fashion that came out inside an old fashioned lantern (think Sleepy Hallow meets Frankenstein). My wife had a Buddhalicious; their signature drink. My daughter had a nitro infused Shirley temple that came with a chocolate monkey. Bread sticks are delicious; although we had to ask for additional servings. We skipped the appetizers and opted to go straight for the entrees. I had the Sea Bass, my wife the Samurai Tuna and my daughter the filet mignon. Now the presentation: over the top. This why you come here. I won't go into details as that would weaken the effect and sometimes in life its best to be surprised. If you read, instagrammed, twittered everything life's spontaneous moments would be gone. My sea bass was good. I think it was the Chilean version and not the Mediterranean one. It was served with potatoes, carrots, asparagus, and miso butter. My only complaint was the asparagus as it was not cooked throughout. Our table then ordered Off with her head; a towering cotton candy spectacular to make Marie Antonette blush. We did our own Reign of Terror on the French monarch's namesake dessert. We were waited on by Jessica throughout and she was great. Constantly refilled my wine and asked about our meal. The runners were not as diligent with the water or bread. I had to ask for refills on the water constantly. For these prices, the runners have to be on top of the refills, same with the bread. I have seen comments about the price and presentation and the disconnect with the quality of the food. Yes it's pricey but your on the beach--a culinary wasteland with the exception of very few restaurants--and you go for the complete experience. If you don't get it, then you don't get us: a group of people that bought an overvalued slice of swamp land that hope the next hurricane won't wash it all away. Parking: Valet Service: the waitress, Jessica was suburb, joe's quality. The runners and support staff need polishing. One last comment: there was a little kid that wanted to taste our cotton candy dessert. So we allowed him. When they were taking away the dessert we asked the child if he wanted another piece. At which point the runner said "we don't allow sharing". Look lady, when I'm dropping 500 for dinner I do what I damm well please with my food. read more

FABULOUS AND UNIQUE. First I highly recommend reservations , and they do have an outdoor seating option. Everything has its own special presentation and the portions are huge. Me and a friend who were here celebrating their BDAY ordered separate things and honestly we could of shared. I started with the devilish eggs, if by the name you can't tell yes they are deviled eggs , which were brought out and my server made chicken noises (Luckily i'm not a vegan ). They were light and yummy almost as good as my own. I wanted fried chicken as my entree , it came with mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. (image attached) . The cone with chicken and mashed OMG , it was heavenly . If your a chicken lover like me its a must try. How can you not have a good salad? Well this place figured it out. Perhaps it was the green goddess dressing that had zero salt. No, I added salmon to the Barton G. Chopped Salad and the salmon was super hard and over cooked and, yep, you guessed it NOT seasoned. The Cracklin' Deviled Eggs were good and the pork "wings" were good - neither GREAT or worth the price. The bill was astronomical for what we got. This spot is really expensive, but we already went in knowing that and you're paying for the experience and really good food. We started off with our $32 cocktails. They were nitrogen and came out steamy. The presentation from the start blows you away. Next up we each ordered the filet mignon and shared asparagus and the lobster Mac & Cheese. The Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly, the asparagus wasn't seasoned and tasted bland, the Mac & Cheese had big chunks of lobster which we loved, but to be honest it was almost too cheesy and you definitely can't eat a lot of it. We were four girls and we split the DOLLA DOLLA BILLS Y'ALL!!!! dessert, which comes with "MEGA RICH chocolate ganache and dulce de leche tart, under a gold brick shell. Graham cracker crust, soft meringue, chocolate -feuilletine golden nuggets." We all like to eat and have big sweet tooths, and still could not finish this dessert. I think if the desserts in this dish were tastier and not quite as sweet we would have finished it... It was also 42$!! What a place! This is a full experience and you have to accept its extremely over the top nature to truly enjoy it, which we did. The food was genuinely delicious which made the extremely steep price tag much more manageable, and it's a true experience - in my opinion, not one you would repeat time and time again but definitely a bucket list place! We had delicious cocktails with extra fun features such as a champagne nitro popsicle and hanging dark chocolate monkey (so yum!) and then shared an entrée, a side and a dessert - the samurai tuna which had a great kick to it and a yummy spice rub, the mouse trap mac and cheese which was incredibly cheesy and indulgent, and then the Marie Antoinette dessert with a full head of cotton candy hair! This place is all about the show. Over-the-top presentations are fun if you're with a group- too bad it didn't taste as good as it looked. Salads are meant to share. The dressing on the seasonal chopped was too sweet for me. The Caesar was better, though not particularly memorable. It came with a small wedge of parm and a cute little cheese grater. French fries were more like potato wedges and not very tasty. The salmon came as a large serving- well-cooked, but under-seasoned. It came with a few spears of yummy charred broccolini, roasted on-the-vine tomatoes. There was also a bowl of lemon-pecan quinoa that tasted like neither lemon now pecan. The only desserts are those meant for a large group. Wish they had an option for something for an individual- or even a smaller group? I was running a little late, and I was hoping that they wouldn't give up our reservation. The hostess on the phone was very delightful, and pleasant and told me not to worry. I was so glad, because unfortunately there was nothing I could do about the traffic. I had the "Money Talks" cocktail and it was Hennessy, with grand marnier and the extravagant decoration to pair it with was so cute! I have been there a few time and definitely not as cool the next time around but it's always fun to bring someone for their first visit. My review......the experience is what makes Barton G, Barton G. Each menu item is presented with an artistic piece of art themed towards the dish. Very unique and fun. You cannot dine here without a camera! The size of the dishes especially the appetizers was disappointing. The basket of bones only had one of each meat but plenty of chips. For the price, I was expecting a lot more. The meat had an overkill of sauce. I am guessing that the appetizers are not made to enough to share. Other dishes like the lobster truffle mac and cheese was large enough for 3 people to share! Our waitress did not offer us the different selections of water, nor did she tell us the specials (which can run $100- $200)(until asked), and the bread lady only came by once ( we had to call over to here to get more bread sticks). The table next to us was told the special, the menu was explained in detail, got offered a choice of water and was given more than one serving of breadsticks. We found that really odd. The quality of the food is good, the serving size is small compared to the huge price. Expect to pay a MINIMUM of $75 pp. The atmosphere is nice (indoor or outdoor seating). Nice music in the background, a huge TV by the bar. Valet is $17. Another odd thing is, the valet guy would not valet our car until 6 pm when the restaurant opens. We were there 9 minutes before 6.
