I had an interaction with a lady in the pharmacy today Nov 27th,2023 at 1:29pm and was turned away due to the closing hours for lunch being 1:30-2pm The gentlemen was ready to help me and offer assistance since I was in line. However the lady belted outed rudely "we are closed, we are closed" I walked away realizing seconds later it was 1:29pm and not 1:30pm and turned around to tell her that it was 1:29pm which she agreed but still would not help me and I told her she was rude! Very very rude. She did not care and held her phone up to me and says "now it's 1:30" and I left. I will not continue to use this pharmacy Terrible customer service. Terrible. read more

Imagine calling to find out if your medication is ready for pickup. You're told someone will assist you shortly, so you wait around for about 8-10 minutes. Finally, someone picks up the phone but then just hangs up without helping. It feels unprofessional, especially when you're in pain and just want to know when you can get your medicine. It's easy to see how frustrating it could be for someone with important questions about their medication. read more

The short lady at the pharmacy is a Richard. Told my wife she needed her drivers license and when she didn't have it she tossed the prescription aside and moved on without any explanation. The pharmacy is the absolute worst. Please use caution and do not leave the store prior to confirming the correct medication and dosage has been dispensed. In spite of repeated phone calls from the patient, physician and insurance company they have difficulties providing proper dose, medication, and dates of refill. This causes a monthly hassle with the insurance company and patient, who meanwhile, must front the total cost of the medication while on a fixed, retirement income or go without necessary, life-saving treatments. Pharmacies in general, can be a pain. MAPLE VALLEY BARTELLS PHARMACY IS THE WORST. The pharmacist giggled, when discussing our concerns. Take your pharmacy needs somewhere else. Always late. Closed for two days because of snow yet the rest of the store was open. Tried to get post surgery meds for my mom twice and closed both days. Finally open and coincidentally still have to wait 30 minutes! Horrible service here and their primary mission used to be the pharmacy. read more

I often find excellent deals here on snacks or decor. I stop in about once a month to look. And the customer service is always fantastic.

It's unfortunate that I have to keep coming to this location. The people working in the front are amazing but there always seems to be issues with the pharmacy. They close the drive thru random hours and they never answer the phone. The workers have been friendly for the most part but i was helped by a lady named Merita today and she was the worst. I get it... you have bad days and life happens but you shouldn't be rude to your customers who just want to make a quick pick up. Update: my husband had bypass heart surgery and all of his meds were at Bartells. Below is three days ago when we discovered he was out of one of his meds and the drama behind going to pick up emergency meds and request a refill. I found out in a random discussion that none of his meds are set up for refill since Rite Aid bought Bartells and no one has notified us and they wouldn't release a list of medications so I can set up refills for my husband. Second time this week I'll spend my day off chasing meds. Original post - Sometime recently (last two years?) this specific location (pharmacy specifically) has gone from the local pharmacy that you know and trust to a processing window/register. We have used this as our pharmacy of record for over 15 years. This morning I'm up early to go find out what they stopped filling my husband's heart medication without notice. This will result in at least one day without his meds assuming we get it straightened today. The last visit I had questions about a changed prescription price and when I asked the young lady at the pharmacy register she indicated "I don't know" with a shrug and a silent stare. I won't lie - I'm frustrated now - I told her that there used to be a young lady who cared who worked in that position. (I've seen that she works at the Safeway pharmacy now). Avoid this pharmacy like the plague. The frequent incompetence of the employees here never cease to amaze me. They have never once had my prescriptions ready by quoted times, and several times I had to come back days later since they weren't able to fill (after telling me they were ready). Our family has been given other people's prescriptions on 2 separate occasions. Our prescriptions have also been given to other people on another occasion. The place is just awful. Bartell Drugs in Maple Valley is stellar from start to finish. I needed a script transfered from out of state while staying with my son as I was coming down with serious pneumonia, a bad cough, and a very congested left lung. THANKS to Shada, she coordinated with my out of state Dr. and got the script filled...Oh, AND on a Saturday afternoon, no less! I've been using this pharmacy here in Maple Valley for years and has always been great but over the last year they have just fallen off a cliff. I've had experiences where I get a text saying my prescription refill is ready only to show up and it's not and/or the wrong prescription. Last time I was here I was talking with one of the techs giving here my information and she starts looking for my prescription and suddenly turns to me and said "You'll have to come back after lunch". She was in the middle of the transaction! Wtf? Now I am here sitting waiting for my wife's prescription that they said would be ready and now they are saying a couple of hours. Half the time I pickup medication there is some issue that needs to be resolved. Despite having a convenient location I'm tired of spending a few hours resolving wrong medications being distributed, as well as any manner of clerical issue related to insurance. Currently their system is being switched and ALL previous data related to customers has vanished including how many refills are left on current medications. Every single person in line had issues today. You have failed me for the last time LOL. read more

To say that I am disappointed in this pharmacy that we have been using for 18 years is an understatement!! I would give this multiple negative stars, if that was an option! We used to love this pharmacy and the people that worked there. They really seemed to care about you, and never once had a problem getting refills or experienced rude customer service! The people that now work there are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered! The phone service is the ABSOLUTE worst at best and you can never get through! It takes forever to get refills or new prescriptions filled. One time in particular, after trying in vain for days to get a refill, I actually got through and was immediately put on hold. After being on hold for 20 minutes, out of curiosity and by now really needing my medication, I decided to stay on hold and drive to the pharmacy . I patiently waited in line, unfortunately observing rude customer service over and over! When it was my turn I told the person that I had been waiting on the phone for 35 minutes and showed her that I was STILL on hold. She VERY RUDELY asked me if I wanted to continue to hold or if I wanted her to help me.......... each person behind that pharmacy counter acts and looks like they hate it there, and do absolutely nothing to make you feel any differently! The employees are rude and abrasive! Since last week I have been trying once again to get a refill with absolutely no luck. Once again, after going to the store (I figured I couldn't possibly have another horrible experience, boy was I ever wrong) I again was treated like garbage, I decided to finally change pharmacies! I now just received a call from Walgreens saying after trying MULTIPLE times to get through to Bartell's and failing to get through that the easiest thing to do is to call my doctor and have the prescription sent to them. They also have unfortunately heard from many many many people in the community the same things I have experienced! Once upon a time, Bartels was a great store with great products, had great sale items and wonderful employees!! What a complete shame the way it now is! People should avoid this store at all costs!!! Went to pick up a new prescription and didn't even bother to bring my insurance card because GoodRx had such a great coupon. Then I was told that Bartells doesn't accept any discount coupons, despite the fact that I had a printout from GoodRx with the name Bartells on it. This store very convenient to us and all the staff is very friendly. Our whole family and relatives go there, but today a one staff member wasn't nice at all. The amount of awful, blood boiling experiences I've had at this place... I'm 20. Bartell's as a chain used to be a cool gift shop with reliable pharmacists, as most people who are actually from the area know. I remember shopping for so many cute little sundries! Bubble baths and lipsticks I wasn't allowed to wear. This place was a proper convenience store, now not only is it lame as fuck, it's a cesspool of gross incompetence in what it is actually SUPPOSED to do--give you your meds. The amount of times this place has given me my meds late is in the goddamn double digits. And I'm not even on any life saving medications--can you imagine??? I've been told to WAIT an extra couples of days for my BIRTH CONTROL. Im on the generic combo pill. That is something all pharmacies ALWAYS have in the back. They are constantly understaffed, and frequently close early. Just today I was told that they JUST ORDERED a medication that they were supposed to order a week ago! They have become a sorry excuse for a pharmacy and I will be looking for a different solution. read more

I went to pick-up my prescribed cream from my doctor more than an hour after it was sent to give them more time, but, when I arrived I was told in will take 45 minutes more! To people with busy schedule, this would not sit well! The fat Manager of this pharmacy, instead of resolving the issue after the Store Manager himself talked to him, proudly took his lunch bag and left! Pretty disturbing that this pharmacy chain is standing in the way of treatment by standing between patients and doctor prescribed medications that could be life saving. They won't fill an ivermectin prescription. They're playing political games with peoples lives including my own. Certainly won't be using Bartell anymore. never fails every time I go to pick up a prescription that is supposed to be ready. I get told it will be ready in an hour show up in an 2 hours not ready they say it will be ready in an hour. I finally said something last time about them just saying an hour not really knowing shrugs shoulders. Thought I would give Bartels another try. Big mistake. I was told 35 minutes and I came back an hour later, still not ready. I was told another 10 minutes it's now been another 35 minutes and nothing. They closed the drive up window so I am terminal cancer patient and diagnosed with Covid waiting in the store waiting area with no concern at all by the employees. read more

I've lived in and out of Maple Valley for over 27 years. I've seen this as a primary stop for last minute gifts, pharmacy needs and sometimes the occasional cosmetic. I've been away from town until recently and was absolutely floored by what I witnessed today. As a customer, it's evident that retail settings have shifted. The lack of staff was evident because waits at registers in the front was obvious. Instead of shopping, I saw more guests come in and leave. While my grandma and mother shopped I proceeded to look around. The selection was always random but I was impressed with the selection of more home items! Love the wide range of jams, hell even all the Seahawks gear was great... Until you reach the front to check out, our experience was pretty much unchecked. The front woman who was ringing us up was this elderly woman. Short dark brown hair, and she was completely rude. No smile, no conversation, absolutely no personality. I'm pretty sure this is a running theme with the staff here because it wasn't always the most friendly place to stop to shop. Evidently the friendliness and politeness hasn't improved upon! I'm thankful that this business has always remained a beacon in such a small town like Maple Valley, but customer service is definitely lacking. I was completely out of an ADHD medication which I had received a few texts about earlier in the week. Out of stock. The Pharmacy clerk had ordered on Friday the 13th...still out of stock. I called 10/19 because I had not received a text in a while and needed to refill this. Pharmacist answered the phone and said they never received my Order, and he would fax a request... Felt a bit confused by this because hey, why would you be ordering meds for me on a med Order you have not received????. I got lucky and reached someone at my Provider's Office at 4:45 pm who assured me that the Order had been faxed on 10/13. I attempted to call back the Bartell's (in Maple Valley) and was put on hold for over 5 minutes. So, I just decided to go into the Pharmacy as I usually do when nobody answers the phone or terminal hold. I could not speak with the Pharmacist who was too busy on another line. I asked one of the clerks to please check another Bartell's which have the med, and I would drive there. Luckily, even though the Bartell's in Maple Valley could not get this medication for me after 6 days, she found another Bartell's in Kent which had this medication. I was told by the clerk that the Order would be "in their system" so I could get it in Kent without a problem. I thanked her and went to Kent. Unfortunately, that was not true. Because the prescribed medication was being Ordered by the Maple Valley Bartell's, it did not show up in the Kent Bartell's. I was livid with the runaround and poor communication: asking me to do a wild goose chase for an Order they already had....Ordering and re-ordering a medication when other stores had it....and not showing the Order in the Kent Bartell's. I was very upset when I spoke with the Pharmacist at Maple Valley and called him a liar. He denied he lied. Ok, maybe he did not lie...however, he did not notice the prescription which was sent 6 days before? And honestly, I usually, just laugh off the craziness, poor follow through, and difficulty with communication. He switched all my Orders to the Kent Bartell's. So, after 23 years of going to this Maple Valley Bartell's, I have been switched. Hopefully, I will receive better service at the new location. One more thing...any time a got a new prescription (son's wisdom teeth removed with antibiotics and pain med Order), I attempt to call first. Unfortunately, I had to again go the the Maple Valley Bartell's in person because nobody was picking up phone calls after my son's surgery in July. My son's medications, of course, had not been filled. Then they tell you an hour wait. How inconvenient for the customer. How ridiculous. This is the only Pharmacy that receives an Order but does not actually fill it until you show up. Ridiculous! And when you do come to pick up a prescription, they stare at the computer screen or disappear behind the med holder for 5 minutes or more. Hope the other Bartell's is better. The less you need this service, the better! read more

My doctor called in a prescription for what apparently is more obscure antibiotic ointment. They didn't have it in stock so they ordered it. It ended up being back ordered so who knows how long that may have taken. I really needed it asap so Bonnie in the pharmacy called around to countless Bartell's and found finally it in North Bend which is a good 30 minute drive. Not only did she call Bartell's, she also called other non Bartell's pharmacies in Maple Valley to save me having to go so far! Unfortunately, the closest was in North Bend so I made the drive. The prescription was ready and waiting for me by the time I got there 30 minutes later. Bonnie was awesome! The whole time she was calling countless pharmacies, she kept me updated with phone calls. She went above and beyond and I was so impressed by here exemplary customer service. read more

The people behind me were honking and finally left, so I left also, too frustrated to go inside and get my prescription. I was scheduled to get a Covid booster shot, but due to a new prescription that compromises my immune system my doctor recommended rescheduling my appointment. So I called the Maple Valley location where I was to go for the shot and was told that appointments can't be changed or rescheduled. So I explained my situation and asked if another member of my family could take my place. The woman said yes, and that I would just need to call in the morning of the appointment and let them know, that they do this all the time. I called this morning and the woman who answered the phone said her manager didn't agree with that policy and said they wouldn't accommodate me. I explained what I was told and was rudely cut off and told no, but I could take my appointment in a tone that clearly communicated that she thought I was a liar and when I tried again to explain that the medication I was on made it unsafe she cut me off and said "I'm not going to argue with you" and hung up on me. Clearly there is a large disconnect about what is and isn't the company policy about how the pharmacy conducts its business and if each manager gets to decide the policy for the day, that isn't a company I want to trust with my health or the health of my family. I will not be returning to this location ever and would never recommend them to anyone I know. read more

Update as of 10/25/2021, watch out for absurdly overpriced items. The only reason I ever go here is to pick up a specific brand of coffee that only they carry locally. I decided to pick up some D3 while there and wasn't paying attention to the price. Based on the prices here they must think consumers are complete idiots. Was getting all my prescriptions from Rite Aide, and wasn't happy with their over all service. Had a prescription I was allergic too, and told them to remove it from my list and they never did and filled it. After that I was done! I went to Bartell's and they helped me transfer all my medications over with no issues at all. Did it all for me and had what I needed fast! The thing that shocked me the most is that my scripts were cheaper here!! YUP! Not just a few dollars, I am talking $10-$30 cheaper on some. I am truly happy I am going here. No problems what so ever! They are also the ONLY Bartell's I found that carry this Organic cream called Nutra I buy. I saw that it helped with joint pain and gout and on and on....I bought some for my dad who has gout and he LOVES it, swear's by it that it works. My mom also swears by it. She had hurt her toe and it stopped the pain, she pulled several muscles in her back, rubbed it on and the pain was gone the next day. I use it for a sore knee and it works like a charm every single time. They carry it only by the pharmacy by their cashiers. It is about $16.00 and up...but it lasts a long time and works!! Also helps for bruises, it heals them faster. Everyone is always so nice here, that is why I go back for everything I need. They even carry my organic shampoo and conditioner I was buying online! read more

The pharmacy here is a joke. Not only do they not have prescriptions ready even when they're sent over 12 hours ago, but they've now filled my sons medication wrong twice. My husband picked up the prescription and didn't know what dose he assumed they knew what they were doing, apparently not. When I called to tell them they gave the wrong dose hey said once you drive away they won't take it back, but they'd be happy to refill with the correct dose but I'd have to pay my $130 copay again! If I could leave a zero star for the Maple Valley, WA Bartell Drug pharmacy, I would. I am a 20 year resident of Maple Valley and Bartells has always been our neighborhood drug store and pharmacy. For the past 5 years I can honestly say that the pharmacy has gone completely downhill. The staff provides the worst service! They never answer the phone or return phone calls, when in store they are rude, they're unavailable to help and NEVER, EVER have prescriptions ready for pick up on time. NEVER! We are no longer trusting Bartell Pharmacy in Maple Valley for our family prescriptions and vaccinations. Walgreens will now be our pharmacy of choice. Corporate leadership needs to read all the poor reviews and take immediate action. Staff correctly and train your staff properly to meet the needs of families in our community. Stopped at Bartell on 12/14/19 to pick my prescription up at the drive through. There was one car at the window so I thought great this will be quick. Well not so! I waited behind this one car for 15 minutes. I did not want to walk in because I had my dog in the car. When I finally got up to the widow I told the girl I had been waiting 15 minutes and she said that the person in front of me was having a problem with their prescription. I would think that common sense would be to tell the customer to either come in or to circle back around. Something has changed at the Bartell pharmacy and I'm not sure what it is. There seems to be a lot of turn over and the employees don't seem happy at all! I want the old Bartell back! read more

This Bartell Drugs has made me a fan. They have a little bit of anything like a classic "drug store" does but they have great service, fair prices, good variety and again-good service. Its almost like they took a big block store and squeezed it into this size. so you get a little bit of everything but you are in and out in five minutes instead of it taking an entire afternoon. I utilize their pharmacy, the card section and their candy section the most but you can also see me getting photos developed or browsing the holiday section. read more

We've been coming to this Bartell Drugs for 15 or so years. I've always had good service until today. I called ahead of time to see if someone was able to help with my passport photos because once I went and the photo booth was closed. An elderly lady answered the phone and while I was still talking she hung up on me. I thought maybe it was a bad connection or a mistake so I called back again and she hung up again. I called a total of three times and every time she purposefully hung up on me. I drove down there and confronted her. Having been coming here for years I know that the cashiers answer the phone. You could tell she knew it was me. She proceeded to tell me that she hadn't answered the phone for hours and that "there are sometimes issues with the phone." It was obviously her. She called someone to help me with my photos who just so happened to be her manager. I told the manager what happened, that his employee lied to my face and was completely rude and he didn't apologize or even look at me while I was talking. He ignored everything I said. Extremely disappointed especially since I've been coming here for years and remember the good customer service it had. I doubt I'll be back. read more
