I love this place but I believe this place definitely needs one bartender not three, four or five. One bartender and the rest waitresses. Rotate the bartender so others get a chance to bartend. I have talked with other patrons and they agree 100% Barskis needs one bartender. I've been to other bars around here and there's probably 2 other bars with one bar tender. There are bars around GR where one bar tender can run circles around these bar tenders, Come on Steve let's evaluate the situation and make it easier on your staff, they are getting confused and ignoring the people at the bar. Excellent Polish food especially the homemade kielbasa. Regular bar food burgers, etc for the family. Disappointed in the venison chili. Nice selection of craft beers. In the summer there is a fire pit in the back with bands who have played at the Wenger pavillion earlier. Thought there would be a firepit as advertised but none was available when I visited. read more

I was in town on business and Barski catered our lunches for two weeks. We stopped in after work and had dinner one night as well. The food quality is top notch, not your typical greasy "bar fare" but a well planned menu. The Polish Plate was amazing - everything homemade and the mushroom sauce to die for! The kielbasa was as good as my my Babci and Diziadi's (grandma and grandpa). We also had the venison chili - yum! Owner Steve was so friendly and had us laughing. If I ever come back to Baldwin, I will be stopping by to enjoy a meal again for sure! read more

I seriously can't believe how good the food is. You walk in and take one look at this old square brick that looks like it could have been the most run down biker bar in West Michigan, with folding chairs and card tables.. but their burgers might be one of the best I've ever had. Now, from what I read from a lot of comments - that's their best thing and everything else is average. This could be, because I only get the venison chili burger with garlic aioli and I will say it is the best burger in Michigan and is enough to get a 5/5 negating any other quirk or flaw. The service can be pretty slow as they get incredibly busy because it feels like the ONLY place to eat in Baldwin. I wish this guy would open up a chain or something. While visiting Baldwin, Barski was recommended by a friend. We went in for a beer break and met Steve the owner. Such a nice man and fun to talk with. We looked at the menu and decided to go back for dinner. The food was amazing!!! We tried his unique version of french onion soup - delicious! The walleye dinner was the best I have ever had. The staff is very friendly also. We went back the next day for their focaccia crust pizza - the topping selections are unique. We are anxious to try more items on our next trip back. When we arrived on a Saturday night, the parking lot was packed. They were able to get us seated quickly at the bar. The bartenders poured the drinks heavy (that's a plus in my book). We got the stuffed jalapeños as an appetizer, which were delicious and clearly homemade. For the main meal, I got the Polish plate, and my boyfriend got the Barski burger. We were both extremely happy with our meals. I loved how unique the Polish plate was, and I'd order it again and again! The Pierogis with the mushroom cream sauce were soooo delicious. The homemade kielbasa also hit the spot. Finally, the staff was extremely kind and accommodating. Our waitress was especially attentive and despite being extremely busy, still took the time to graciously answer our questions about the menu. read more

Wow. I have made due with a lot of places in this general stretch between Reed City and Baldwin. I don't eat boxed, processed Franken-foods as a general rule, so while there are some decent options, there isn't much wow factor. Barski avoids one of the pitfalls many up north establishments by keeping the menu streamlined, and yet somehow has a wonderful diversity, like mussels and blue crab stuffed mushrooms. I ordered the pork cutlet with kapusta and the garlic smashed red potatoes, and added some cole slaw. The cole slaw came first which was much appreciated. It's real veggies, neither too chunky nor too small, not to gluey, sweet or runny, had plenty of flavor. Lots of red onion which I thought was perfect, but kids and onion-phobes might find it strong. The pork cutlet may or may not be recognizable as such to you depending on your Grandma, but Texans will recognize it as chicken fried... Pork. It was tenderized like a minute steak, had a nice, I'm sure hand breaded coating which was perfectly thick and perfectly seasoned, and a nicely loose cream gravy with an appropriate amount of pepper. The gravy is divine on the wonderfully seasoned potatoes, and I preferred the carrot and paprika enhanced kapusta with the pork chop, it was the perfect foil to all that richness. Everything appeared to be homemade like Grandma. If there was pre-packaged GFS type stuff my palate was completely fooled. It's no joke about serving size, the portions are epic. I made it through the cole slaw, pork chop and 4/5 of the kapusta and maybe half the potatoes, and one bite of bread. I am a pretty good eater but wow. It's a lot! I'm really glad I came, this menu is going to need some investigating. I think the husband and kids will be impressed, and I foresee some date nights in my future. :) read more

If there was a zero review that's what this place would get. As a member of the local community we were treated like garbage. The wait staff is rude and treated us like we were second class citizens. Just went for a drink and they were very rude. I will never set foot in this place again. Can't believe trying to support a local business and there isn't a professional person even close to this establishment. This place is no nonsense; not decorated fancy. The food is fresh, well prepared, has good flavor and is the best in the area. Im a fisherman who is in the area 6-7 times per year and ate everywhere. While im not a snob, I do know bad food vs. good food and insist on spending my money at the best place.........duhh! I really hope that business continues to go well for them. Baldwin can be a tough town to make a name for yourself, but myself and lots of out of towners all meet at one place for dinner and beers at the end of our fishing and hunting day. I forgot to take a photo of our food. The presentation wasn't amazing but the food was very good. My husband had the Polish plate. The kielbasa was excellent! The grilled rye and kipusta was great. The pierogi were not warm. The dough was more like a noodle than a dumpling. Overall very good. I had the Perch Kipusta and salad. Salad could use more "wild" greens as mentioned in the menu. Perch was good. Needed salt. But cooked perfectly. Decent wine list considering it is an up north bar. I'm always happy when I can get a decent glass of wine! Thank you! read more

The outside of the bar is a bit dingy. The inside is not much better, but the food is really good! I was very surprised to receive the delicious burrito and fries. My brother had the kalbasa and cabbage which was very good too. He said the kalbasa was cooked to perfection (almost as good as our grandma used to make!). Such a great experience! When we first arrived the bartender firmly and politely instructed us to wait at the hostess area to be seated, following COVID precautions. The bartender/waitress working that day was the only one present in the bar/restaurant area which began to fill up quickly with patrons from 12pm-1pm. She provided excellent service with 7 full tables and a full bar top!! Drinks were always filled and the order was quick and correct. We ordered the fried pickle spears battered with a lime beer batter- hot and delicious. I ordered the monte cristo and my boyfriend ordered the venison chili burger. Both meals were out to the table relatively quickly (considering the staff and people arriving) , hot, and delicious! This was our first time eating at Baski's. ( http://www.barskim37.com/ ) My wife, son and I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 PM and had a great experience. We were the only one's eating at that time so we had the whole place to ourselves. The three of us shared the wonderful Bacon Cheeseburger Bites appetizer plate. My son had the burrito and my wife had the perch with a side salad. Both thought their food was excellent and my wife was amazed at the size and variety of ingredients in her side salad. I had the 12 oz. rib-eye steak cooked medium with macaroni-and-cheese and kapusta for sides. An excellent perfectly cooked steak. Generous portions and reasonable prices all around. We will definitely be back as we camp nearby at Pickerel Lakeside Family Campground near Bitely, MI quite often during the summer. read more

Went here on our way to Silver Lake from Traverse City. Good choice! Great burgers, especially for the price! Had the Cajun Burger which was delicious. Got lettuce added for free, and it was only 8$ and HUGE. Very filling. The only thing that could be improved is a reduction in the oil used, because it was a very "oily" burger. Not a place I'd recommend to anyone. Service was poor and food is mediocre at best. The waitress waited until after she returned with our drinks to tell us that they were out of burger and ribeye (burgers make up over half of the menu), and rushed away as soon as she said it throwing our drinks on the table. Today we had amazing service, the food was excellent and our waitress Stephanie .P. was as friendly as could be! The cook seems aware of timing with food service. They were packed with hunters, every table was full and every waitress handled the crowed perfectly! I have not given this place 5 stars before but they have new computers and a new attitude! Last year I would have given 3 1/2 stars but this past year (2015) I couldn't give them more then 1 star. The waitress was scrapping the floor grout for 5 minutes before being told that our food was ready. She actually lifted herself off the floor, went in the kitchen and brought our food (which was the worst dinner any of us had ever had). We will never go back. read more

I would like to give a review of the food, unfortunately we never received any. We sat down, waited almost 20 minutes for someone to come bring us menus. We ordered water, waited another 15 /20 minutes for them to bring it, then had to wait again to place our order. Waitresses just kept walking past, ignoring us. Finally ordered, then the real wait began. After 45 minutes of waiting, watching them set up a table for maybe 18, take their order, take pics!, we got up and left. Met another couple at the door who followed us out, said they had been waiting to be seated for 15 minutes and never even hot acknowledged! Obviously they don't need customers too badly. read more

We have been here a few times and it was pretty decent. The last time we stopped however was different. The waitress was not friendly and we waited a long time to get 2 simple orders of the grilled ham and cheese. When we finally got it they were both burnt but one dish was very burnt and just gross. When it was mentioned the one was burnt the waitress replied with , "well it's not like they were brought out to you very fast." No apologies. I said I'm just letting you know it's kinda not edible and I don't have time to wait for another one. She said look I can get you another one and it would be like 2 mins. I said no I can't wait .. so I wonder why suddenly it would be 2 mins vs about 30 I waited for the first time. I asked for the bill thinking she mite adjust the price but nope, she went into the kitchen to start yelling at the cook. Never offered an apology or a price adjustment. Thanks for the 24 bucks I spent on lunch I didn't get to eat. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Glad my co workers don't yell at me in front of customers! Very disappointing. read more
