The waitress that brought us menus was nice and had service with a smile. We ordered the fries and perch dinners to go. I had perch with double fries and home made tartar sauce. My daughter ordered the perch with fries and side salad. This is one of the home town bars that use to be called Skii's Bar located in Baldwin, Michigan. The bar is now called Barski's and has been in business for seventeen years. Initially this bar started out as Pub and Grub then, Skii's Bar and now Barski's. Was in the area for the weekend and heard about this place from friends. It was busier than usual and they were short staffed so service was slow but good. Tried the Alaskan Amber beer on tap and it was good. As a table we tried the nachos and beer battered mushrooms for appetizers. The mushrooms were some of the best I've ever had and the nachos were average. I had the BLT and it was delicious with a lot of bacon on it. This place has really declined. At least the service. Not that busy but took 35 minutes after getting drinks to actually order food. Server is bussing tables and taking care of carry out while we're sitting. Apparently carry out is the ticket. Waiting over an hour for food while the carry outs roll. A little wait to get in is normal, but the food was well worth the wait. The BBQ bacon burger was very good, and the jalapeño poppers were the best I've had from a restaurant. Decent beer selection too. Will definitely stop by again. Better for groups under 5. But there were 7 of us and it worked out, just had to slip between two tables. read more

where do I begin. Our waitress was great personality wise, but it was obvious she was on some kind of drug. There were 2 other girls behind the bar. one was flirting with some guy, (hopefully not the owner) the other one was eating part of the time and helping our waitress Stephanie the other part of the time. The wait time for drinks, appetizers and food was obsurd. They should have the owners of the Wolf Lake Snack Shack help manager the restaurant. The pictures are incorrect. My patty melt was a half of sandwich with a small patty. The food was lukewarm. The one good thing was the New England Clam dip. It was deliciou, but the tortilla chips were stale. As our fishing guide said... "this is a place you go if you want some good quality food". And he was right. Place has a local bar feel with a polish twist. Plenty of other options if you aren't feeling the polish food. Great spot to slide through and share the stories of how the PM treated you that day... Couple of TVs and some 90's red wing memorabilia to make it feel like a sports bar if your favorite game is on. Keno/darts/pool table for the late evening crowd. The picture perfect "upnorth" vibe. Bon fire and horseshoe pit out back. Would recommend trying the kielbasa bites... deep fried with horseradish. Would suggest to add some more zest to that horsey sauce. Went with the Reuben, but totally regretted not getting the polish plate when i saw it go by to the table next to us. Great beer options, two hearted on draft. Kid friendly. I love the chicken tenders! Amazing!!! The drinks are fun too. Great place to sit at the bar and enjoy the staff.

Food was not good. The MR burgers we ordered came well done, fries were under cooked, and anything that was fried(onion rings and chicken fingers) were done in old oil. Definitely not worth $63. People are nice though. It is a local bar and has the feel of one. read more

I stood w/crutches for at least 10 min. We weren't greeted as she hugged a patron at the bar 2 ft away. After about 5 min or more she said wait for her to clean a table off. She took something off the table & went behind the bar serving people & talking. Other workers talking & serving others from behind the bar made no acknowledgement. The food was excellent, fresh and you can tell that everything on the menu is thoughtfully crafted and made from scratch. We took Yelpers'' recommendations and stopped here for a late lunch. My pierogi in mushroom sauce were excellent. The mushrooms were fresh and the Alfredo sauce was fresh and relatively light. The pierogis themselves were tender and flavorful. My husband also thought his Polish platter of pierogi, kielbasa and kapusta (sauerkraut) was excellent. The only disappointment was that my $5.00 salad was small and mostly iceberg lettuce. The homemade dressing, however, was very good! It would be great if they would offer sauerkraut without meat as a side for the pierogi. read more

I will have to revise, as its been 4 years since we ate there...I "am Polish" and cook any type of polish food, learning from my grandmothers and aunties...When "last there", I thought the "polish platter was a "joke".The "pirogies were ""Mrs.T...Not a bad store bought brand(but "at that time they did "nothing special" to "warrant the price"...Making "our own homemade polish sausage for centuries...Theres reminded me of anything you'd pick up at a grocery store"...And the saurekrat was "blah"...That said...I see "now" from the pictures of the Polish sausage" that is "Does look homemade , even if it "comes from Detriot area", at least it looks authentic"...I see someone "wrote" they at least do a "cream sauce" on the pirogies....There is "Soooo much you can do with "pirogies"....That said...I still do NOT think the Polish dish warrants a $16 price...Throw in a "stuffed cabbage roll"... My sister runs a bistro in Marine City and for 14 dollars you get a HUGE Polish platter...Cabbage roll, 3 pirogies, polish kielbasa, mashed potatoes, bread and Grandmas Real sautéed surakarta, with mushrooms and onion...No tiny "cabbage rolls either. Polish people(and any "ethnic people" are 'known" for their generous portions and good pricing...Especially "being "lake County...Please take this into consideration...More locals will come... Barski is a bit of a diamond in the rough- it looks like a roadside bar both inside and out, but has amazing food and great service! My wife had the Bloody Mary, which she said was very spicy and flavorful. I just had a ginger ale, so I can't comment on the drinks. We shared the breaded provolone appetizer, which is a lot like a large triangle shaped mozzarella stick, served with a garlicky ranch dressing. My wife had the perch sandwich; the roll was a bit dry but the fish itself was moist with a delicious tartar sauce. I had the Barski Burger, which is a very tasty and giant burger with ham, egg, pickle relish on a pretzel bun. It normally comes with a garlic aioli, but I substituted thousand island dressing because I'm pretty sensitive to garlic- little did I know the burger meat itself is heavily seasoned with garlic and onion! I am feeling pretty sick tonight due to all that garlic but it was one damn tasty burger! In the past my wife had the polish sausage and sauerkraut which was awesome, all house made. I also tried the pirogies at a previous visit which are served with a heavy mushroom cream sauce; quite a heavy meal but very rich and flavorful. I highly recommend Barski- just be aware that they aren't shy with the garlic! read more

Barski probably has the largest menu in Baldwin. Can't say anything I've ordered from it has been great, though nothing has been truly bad either. The burger is the best item I had. Juicy, cooked to a nice medium, good steaky flavor. The onion rings I got with it were crisp, if just a little on the greasy side. The chicken salad was a letdown. The lettuce was limp and the vegetables had little flavor. Most recently I tried the housemade kielbasa, which was nothing special. The plate came with two huge links of it, but they were bland and a little tough to cut. On the other hand, the kapusta (polish cabbage stew) on the side was great, and the horseradish sauce make a good condiment for the sausage. I'd have been happy with a big bowl of the kapusta. The atmosphere here isn't the most relaxing. Barski has the worn timber facade of many northern michigan taverns, but the interior walls are garish expanses of solid red and white, in keeping with the ownership's Polish heritage, I suppose. At least you can enjoy a good beer while you're there. There are two craft brew taps, and a decent bottle selection too, leaning heavily towards Bells and Founders. I've seen a few decent wine labels behind the bar as well. There might be a lesson for Barski in its beer list. It's a small list, but the quality of the offerings is high. Maybe if Barski's food menu was smaller, it would improve the food offerings by concentrating its efforts on fewer items. read more

We've been eating at Barski's for a few years now. The food is something you wouldn't expect from an out of the way bar in Lake County. We often order the fish sandwich in a pretzel bun which is not in the menu. They love it when you challenge them off menu and it's one of the best fish sandwiches you'll get, make sure you add cheese. Try any of the menu items, the Monte Cristo is very good. Steaks are cooked perfectly and are good sized. The cheeseburger bites on the starter menu are very good. Hell, it's all good. read more

The Polish Plate is awesome. Great chicken strips. Steak was cooked perfect. Would not recommend the burger, the person who had it was not happy as it was really thick in the middle like a burger can be when the patty is not pressed evenly with a bit thinner center. I've had other burgers like that myself and neither of us like the fat meaty middle and thinner charred edges. The second time she had Alfredo w/veg and it was very veggie and the sauce was not much of a cream sauce. They do not have much of you do not want meat.
