The place looks nice but I should have realized something was up when it was 12:30 PM (lunch time) and no one was in there. The food was not good. I was overcharged for my meal (the menu says one price and they charged me a higher price). Hmmm.... Also, they were playing nice acoustical music in the restaurant but it was competing with the kitchen staff and their radio music that was loud - and they were loud - I felt like the kitchen staff were the most important people in the restaurant. What a wonderful evening. The food was excellent, live Jazz was the icing on the cake. We had questions about things on the menu we'd not hear of before, and chef Scott appeared from the kitchen with a sample to try. Was part of a group on a Saturday night. Service was good. Had two servers for our table. My lady didn't seem particularly thrilled about her night, but oh well. My big gripe was with the buffalo chicken flatbread. Not sure what most are used to, but a warm, non crispy pita topped with shredded cheese and chunks on chicken isn't what I consider a flatbread. Also the band was very loud. Dive-bar loud. I felt bad for the people sitting directly in front of the stage. My advice: skip the food and sit on the side without the band. read more

Bartender was just awful. Rude, arrogant person...poured 3 beers half-foam, and rolled his eyes when we tried to speak with him about it. Appetizers took 45 minutes. Sticky floors. Whoever the marketing team is here does an EXCELLENT job of promoting this as a high end joint...sure fooled us. Won't ever be back. Stopped in here for the first time Saturday afternoon and my boyfriend and I were both very pleasantly surprised. The owner was in the store area and was super friendly when we walked in. We were going to the bar for a drink and the bartender Paul was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about beers and picked the perfect one for my super picky boyfriend on the first try - which never happens. I was drinking a Pinot Nior and let him chose that which was spot on also. We got the charcuterie platter which was absolutely awesome! The waitress, who I didn't get her name, was also super friendly and chatty with us when she was waiting for drinks for her tables. We will definitely be back it was a great experience!! read more

I wouldn't even give this place a one star if I had the option! I don't do reviews but I feel like I should for this place so I can save people from making the mistake of going here. I had put in Mother's Day reservations for 5 at 11 am. On the phone they said they would put me at a table for 6...I said great that's fine.( side note) was first reservation they had was told on phone. Mother's Day was today and my wife and I were on time and present at time of our reservations...but my dad was having car problems and him and my mom were going to be half hour late. I asked if they could move us back to eleven thirty they seemed to understand but never mentioned we would be punished when my parents arrived and made to give up our table and put at a small table for 4 in the far back corner of the restaurant. They had added a chair at end of table to make 5. I asked girl at front desk why we put there instead and owner was standing nearby and thought he would take over the conversation. He said he gave up our table and pointed to the table of 6 in middle of restaurant(side note) table was completely empty btw and could of had some sympathy especially on Mother's Day but decided he would punish us instead. We bantered back and forth and I was two seconds from knocking him out for the way he was talking to me! If it wasn't Mother's Day and others preset trying to have a good time mark my words I would of. He's a son of a bitch. You can see it in the employees eyes they are mistreated there as well. I hope this place burns to the ground! We went somewhere else which was a pain on Mother's Day...tried to make the best of the day. Absolutely, terrible service and food today at lunch. First, we asked for extra mint for a drink and the server told us that no extra mint was needed the drink should be minty enough! Appitizer, Fried green tomatoes came out from kitchen still cold in the middle. Sent them back, then came out over cooked, dark and almost burnt. I ask for a different beer because I didn't like the one I ordered, the server told my that's why it's best to sample prior to purchasing. Even though, I didn't expect to pay for the wrong beer that I ordered. Word for the wise, less is better "unsaid". Our flatbread pizzas then came out burnt! The waitress was overall rude!! I would have to say, small lunch crowd but it would of helped the server if the 2 gentlemen sitting on the other side have assisted her. Surprised bc usually Barrel 33 is an enjoyable meal. We really wanted to like this establishment because the food was pretty delicious and the wine sommelier Don was amazing and super helpful. However, our waiter Ron (not to be confused with Don) was inattentive, abrasive, and overly opinionated. Our friend, who is a picky eater, wanted an item that was unavailable. Instead of making a recommendation or suggesting another option, he made her feel as though her request was ridiculous. Then he brought our other friend an item she didn't order and suggested she eat it because it is "better" than what she chose. THEN charged her for both items!!! Following these incidences we talked to the manager about the above and he offered to comp us free dessert. This made us feel better about the situation until the defensive owner came over and treated us like children who were asking the world. Meanwhile we are just a bunch of 30 somethings trying to get together and enjoy each other's company over the holiday weekend. Thank god for Don, he made the experience tolerable. read more

I have been here three times now with a group of friends. The first two times were great. The food portions are a little small but you don't really go there to eat. The third time we went our waiter was Ron, he was EXTREMELY delayed with taking orders and bringing out drinks and food. At the end of the evening he brought out everyone's bill and then proceeded to say that the computer messed everything up and put everyone's tab on one bill ( there were 10 of us keep in mind) so not only was the "computer" messed up but he didn't bother to write down what anyone ordered. So he came around to me and asked what all I had to drink and eat. I told him exactly what my bill was and he came back with a check that was totally messed up. He over charged by two expensive beers that I did not have and his response to me was "well you probably had way more to drink and don't remember so I'm giving you a deal" which was COMPLETELY OUT OF LINE AND UNCALLED FOR. I don't go out to get hammered, I was out for a friends birthday and know for a fact of what I had that evening. He wouldn't change the bill. He also messed up two other bills that were in the party, adding on extra drinks that no one had ordered. I have never complained about a service but this experience was so bad and I was so upset at the way I was treated that if Ron is there next time I will be walking out and going somewhere else. I hope I'm not the only one who has had this experience with this waiter and I surly hope that the owner takes care of the fact that his employee is acting this way. read more

Let me just say that five stars isn't a high enough rating for this place. It's too cool for Warren, OH but that's a good thing because there is nothing else like this place anywhere in the area. Its unique, it's fresh, it's cool, and they "get it." It's easily become my favorite place. My wife and I recently moved back home to Warren from Louisville, KY and we've missed the cool, local spots we frequented in KY. Barrel 33 is the spot!! It reminds us so much of the restaurants and pubs we loved so much in the city. They've got the best Moscow Mule I've ever had...the bartender knows what he's doing and the drink selection is endless. If you want something new, or to branch out from what you always drink, or to learn about wines, drinks, and pairings this is the place to do so. I've gone to the retail side and selected wines several times and the guys are on-point every time; they won't steer you wrong. This has always been our "go to" place for great food and drinks. Close to home and always consistent quality and service. It's now under new ownership and it definitely shows! Will not be going back!! Took an hour and a half to get our food and had to practically beg to get our drink order refilled. We had bragged about this place to family and friends whom we had with us this time. Embarrassed! When I asked the waitress what was going on, she told me they were short staffed in the kitchen. That's fine, but then when she disappeared for a period of time, with no explanation, we felt helpless. When she finally came back to our table, she said she was helping out on the kitchen. Came in for what I thought would be a quick bite with good service. No pre-bussing of tables. Guests sitting with empty waters that went unfilled. Tables full of empty glasses. Guests getting up to get a refill of water at the bar because the servers walked past them several times without making sure they were ok. My husband's hot coffee sat empty twice for 10-15 minutes each time. The patrons outside went 20 minutes without a single staff member going out to check on them. My tea came as hot water in a cup with a selection of tea not even in the menu, no spoon, no sugar, no plate to put my steeped bag. The dessert came out BEFORE the entrees or even anything to drink with it because they had to make another table the same thing, so why not just bring both tables dessert out? The owner was clearing tables after it became evident the servers couldn't be bothered. It was slow. There weren't many tables sat, and there were at least 3 servers, a hostess, and a bartender working front of the house. NO PATRON WAS SITTING AT THE BAR, yet I watched dirty plates and cups sit there most of the hour I was there. There were two 6-top tables, two 4- tops, and three 2-tops sat inside and a 4-top outside. Between 3 servers and a bartender at an empty bar that has completed his prep work, there's no excuse for the state of service. The good? The scotch egg was perfect. The beet salad was good. The egg salad sandwich was okay. The blueberry strata was cold and soggy (and served first, before drinks even made it to the table.) I'd probably only go back for a take out order of scotch eggs. I've been in the service industry myself, I saw all the red flags. I wouldn't go back to sit down and attempt to enjoy a meal here again. read more

Went here for a drink before dinner with my family for mother's day weekend. We waited for at least 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Once acknowledged, bartender rudely asked us if we knew what we wanted yet. I ordered a drink along with my family. She didn't know how to make my drink and had to look it up. My mom, husband, and stepdad waited another fifteen minutes to get a drink. A drink never came. They couldn't find the wine she wanted and instead of serving my husband and stepdad a whiskey on rocks, went ahead and served next customer in line. We had to go to make dinner reservation and had to cancel their drinks. They charged us for my drink never apologized for our inconvenience and the owner was standing right there and saw the whole thing happen. This place will be in business maybe six months. Terrible owner has no idea what he is doing and how to treat people, neither does his staff. Would love to be able to support a local community business unfortunately cannot do it with this one. read more

Stopped in here last night for a little while, great atmosphere, great food and great drinks! They had live jazz music which was a little loud but was really good. The bartender was wonderful and suggested a few different things that i normally wouldn't have tried otherwise. She was very busy but still managed to take time with us and answer any questions we had. I settled on a champagne cocktail with an edible flower at the bottom that was amazing. Barrel33 is truly a gem in Howland! The atmosphere is great, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and their selection of both beer and wine is amazing! Their appetizers are all delicious, I'd highly recommend any of the toffles. Oh, and anything with pulled pork!! Their handcrafted cocktails are simply out of the world. All of the ingredients are fresh and each one is made with a little extra patience so they're not just thrown together in a glass. Visited Barrel33 on weds 3-16-2016 and really enjoyed myself. I had read the reviews before i went weds and was surprised to read about the waiter Ron and even jokingly told my friends i hoped we didnt get that waiter. Well we did get Ron and i will say he was **AWESOME** im not a friend of Ron's but i am now a fan of his.. Anyway the place was great and the 3 piece band that was playing sounded amazing and yes i am a fan of the band. I really enjoyed the Not your Fathers Rootbeer by Small Town Brewery. I have plans to go back on a tuesday and try a few more of the beers and also enjoy some jazz music. read more
