We love A Fransico's and I've given it a 5 star review on Google. We went here on Saturday…read morespecifically for Virgil's pizza. They had Gary, the owner of Virgil's, making his pizza and I was very much looking forward to having it again. He had my favorite pizza and I missed having it. So when I heard he was making his pizza again, I booked a reservation. Now, for the record, A. Francisco's is my new favorite pizza, Colin is a pizza genius. But I missed Virgil's, so I ordered my go to pepperoni pizza. I was pretty disappointed. As soon as they put the pizza down, I knew it was different. It didn't look like I knew Virgils to look like. The crust was different. The pepperoni was different... it wasn't Virgil's. I've eaten hundreds of squares. I would get 6 squares and eat them for lunch and want more...this time I ate two... just to be polite. The biggest difference was the dough. It didn't look like Virgil's and it didn't taste close to what Virgil's tasted like. My wife had the house made spaghetti with shrimp and it was very good. The buratta balls were excellent. Those were from A. Francisco's menu and we always have excellent food from here. But for someone who loved Virgil's, this was NOT the Virgil's that I remember and loved. I don't know what happened to his dough, but tonight I'm going to A. Francisco's for my new favorite pizza made by Colin. I'm not a fan of their pepperoni, so I go sausage and arugula. If they ever get the old world pepperoni that curls up, I'll go back to my go to.

Crispy on the outside with perfectly melted, gooey cheese inside, and served with a marinara that was flavorful without being overly sweet. For our entrees we tried the OG (added sausage) and the prosciutto e arugula (added mushrooms). Both were delicious, featuring a well-balanced, crispy oven-baked crust that wasn't overly crunchy, elevated by parmesan, red pepper flakes, and a touch of sea salt. I also had an Aperol spritz to drink which was refreshing and perfect. Our server was quick and kind, and the vibe was modern and moody. We definitely see ourselves returning.

Room 33 has been one of our favorite Erie restaurants for many years. We love the whole vibe. The…read morefood and drinks are well made and thought out, the live music is always a nice touch to an evening out and the space is very well designed. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially when they have a band performing. My go-to dish is the short rib dish. The mashed potatoes are amazing and the short ribs are packed with flavor. On this particular visit, they were a bit skimpy on the au jus sauce (it's normally got a healthy laddle of pan sauce on the bowl) but that's okay. I did splurge for my birthday and get a slice of the peanut butter pie. It was super rich and exactly what peanut butter lovers want in a peanut butter pie.

We started with "the 33" and "Black Widow", but I swapped the tequila for mezcal and that was a good choice! The 33 was absolutely delicious...but they did run out of Penelope for the day. So, a second drink unfortunately didn't happen. We put our order in for food about 10 minutes after getting there. No joke, the food arrived almost an HOUR later. We had to ask the bartender what was up; there was no proactive alert as to when the food was arriving. That was off-putting. The food was very good. It's hard to get a pork chop right and they managed to achieve it. The sides were also delicious. My husband's steak was very good and the spicy crema that they put on top was a nice touch. The wait time for the food was unacceptable, honestly. Something should have been comped, but the bartender was too busy to notice. No water refill for close to 30-40 minutes either. We would return but definitely on a different day, when they maybe have more employees working in the kitchen. Or maybe just skip food altogether. *shrug*

May want to invest in thivker blinds because sun was blinding table next to us. Couldn't decide between the bisque and deviled eggs. Had the bisque which has a tomato base - DELICIOUS even on a hot day. Took the deviled eggs to go for breakfast tomorrow. Had the chicken picata with capers. The picky eater picked out the capers. I had the seafood trio: scallops, lobster tail, & crab stuffed shrimp. It was accompanied by basmati rice, carrots, & asparagus. I wish when I cook my basmati rice turned out that perfect. The waffle sundae closed out the dinner with carmel & chocolate sauce, whipped cream, ice cream ... and picky eater held the fresh seasonal berries. Parking vouchers were included with the bill. Very nice meal. Not rushed. Beautiful view. Ask for Laitin - She maes great recommendations.

The restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside. Once you head through the first dining room and down the steps, you're greeted by a warm, homey dining room with a surprisingly spacious bar. It has a comfortable neighborhood feel, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Our cocktails arrived in about 10 minutes, and the hush puppies followed about 20 minutes later. They had a nice flavor, but were much denser and chewier than I expected. The bigger issue was the wait for our entrees. With the restaurant not appearing particularly busy, nearly 50 minutes for fried chicken and jerk chicken felt excessive. The good news? The chicken absolutely delivered! Both the fried chicken and the jerk chicken were packed with flavor and easily stole the show. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, while the jerk had a wonderful balance of seasoning and spice. Those dishes alone made the meal worthwhile. Unfortunately, my mashed potatoes arrived warm instead of hot. After such a long wait, I was hoping everything would come out piping hot, and that side just missed the mark. Cole slaw was fresh but pretty boring in the flavor department. I really wanted this to be the five-star experience that so many others have had. While this visit didn't quite live up to the hype, the quality of the chicken showed why Pineapple Eddie's has earned such a loyal following. We'll happily give them another shot someday and hope they earn that elusive fifth star.

The food was overall, very bland. It was expertly prepared, fresh, and beautiful. But the taste was quite boring. Be prepared to eat a second dinner when you get home. Also be prepared to sit at the bar- this place is very tiny. The vibe is nice. Low ceiling, dimly lit, comfortable cozy. The server/ bartender (I'm pretty sure she was running the whole place) Nikki, was phenomenal. So friendly, good drinks. We started with the oysters which were good. The mignonette sauce was a little different, it had lemon zest in it. It was very good! But the give you laughable amount. Like, a splash. Then we had the fig and prosciutto toast. This was the highlight for us. Tasty all the way around, 4 generous servings on the plate. Jam was so good and the prosciutto was warmed up ever so slightly. I had the hangar steak with some unseasoned boiled carrots. The steak was tender and high quality, but I couldn't taste a bit of seasoning. Also served with a tiny crispy potato pancake. Husband had the halibut special. This had some wasabi crust and if you got a bite of the wasabi it was good. The bites that weren't crusted were boring fish. Again, very fresh and prepared well. Black rice and asparagus also boring. I got a hint of lemon on one bite I tried. We also had the Brussels sprouts, which were charred along with the few pork belly pieces. Husband finished with a whiskey crème brûlée which he enjoyed. He did not, however, enjoy his Dark and Stormy. He said it was all booze and no beer or mix. Sadly, we won't be back.
