Came up here on a Sunday evening at 6:30 for a sunset view dinner. We were given a table with a reasonable enough view. I wasn't a fan of the black screens that were pulled down on the windows: let's be honest, people are there for the view. And it does get crowded in the evening, so make reservations. We had a server who was friendly, although I probably prefer a bit more quiet service than fun jokes. I really liked that they had their specials with pictures on a tablet. The servers all show the specials on the tablet very competently giving you enough time to look with detailed verbal descriptions. They don't however mention the prices for the specials. That wouldn't be an issue elsewhere but this place is oddly very pricey.... with $70 steaks and $60 mains. It's interesting how they've positioned themselves. In any case, there are some other dishes more on the affordable sides, so you can still come in and not have a $200 dinner. The starter we ordered was good, but the mains weren't as great. I ordered a burger which was just okay, bit dry. I did appreciate they served it separated so it wasn't soggy. Steak fries were decent with good presentation. My partner had the Walleye and rice, which was fine. We got the basque cheesecake and that was really good. It came with blueberries, candied nuts, etc. A crowd starts building up near the windows at sunset and that's not fun. Some people just came and stood there blocking the view for everyone else. So from some angles you see the black screens and from others you see people standing. So much for the best view in town :-) The Hampton charges for parking. I don't think in general they should out there, but I get it that it's near a touristy spot. The restaurant makes up for it by validating your parking. Ultimately, it's a bit too expensive for what it is. I may try the other hotel restaurants more on my return visits. I'd like to give this 3.5, but going with the 3 that Yelp allows. read more

Do not eat at Oliver's. This place is an absolute mess. The service was some of the worst I've ever experienced--slow, disorganized, and completely inattentive. It felt like no one knew what they were doing, and getting basic things like drinks or the bill took forever. Unless you're walking in with a huge group they can overcharge and take advantage of, don't bother. The staff seemed far more interested in squeezing money out of large parties than actually providing decent service to regular customers. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. Save your time and money--there are far better places to eat. read more

Fantastic restaurant with an unbeatable view of the Bayfront! The atmosphere is both modern and relaxed, making it a perfect spot for dinner or drinks with a view (especially when sunset happens). This restaurant is located on the top floor of the Hampton Inn & Suites Erie Bayfront Hotel, allowing for these beautiful views. As beautiful as the views are though, one star is taken off because of how they sometimes lower the black screens, preventing people from getting those views they likely came here for. It didn't ruin my experiences here in any way, but still. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and full of flavour. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell the staff here really care about creating a great dining experience. Yes, the prices are quite steep but that's what you'd expect when dining at a high-end restaurant from here. Whether you're staying nearby or just visiting Erie, Oliver's Rooftop is a must. Great food, great service, and that gorgeous lakeside view -- can't ask for much more. read more

Stopped here for an appetizer during happy hour. Ordered the crusted tuna and the spicy banana peppers. Tuna was really good, but a cut a bit thick for my liking. Was delious tho! The spicy banana peppers were enough for two (if not more), but we both agreed they were just "ok." They were stuffed w a mix of cheeses and it was just too much inside. We were a party of 3, made reservations via "Open Table", and enjoyed the designated elevator for "Oliver's. We were seated so we could enjoy the sunset which added to the ambiance. Our server Lori R. Was extremely helpful and gracious. We had printed menus and she showed us actual pictures using a hand held computer-nice touch! We ordered beverages-2 of us enjoyed "mocktails" while one had a house special drink. Drinks were pleasing to the eye and very tasty. Our entrees were served and were worth every penny. One member of our group was celebrating a birthday-and was given a special dessert which we all shared. The staff was very cordial, the ambiance was very welcoming, and we want to return when the weather is warmer. My only suggestion is that it might be about 10% brighter for those who may have vision challenges. What a memorable experience!!! read more

Customized lunch recommendations, guiding us through the menu, timing of courses and check-ins. She was perfect. The location and views are spectacular. We dined on Oct.12 so the rooftop had the glass up and closed but it did not take away from the view. I did the cheeseburger but had it done Philly style with the aioli, mushroom, onions, and peppers. We had the lobster deviled eggs for an appetizer and my partner went for the Walleye fish sandwich. After extensively searching for a classy, upscale restaurant with a rooftop view overlooking Lake Erie, "Oliver's Rooftop" in Erie, PA definitely hit all the high notes for me. This place opened during the pandemic in late-2020 and since then, it has made a name of itself from locals and out-of-towners (such as myself). I made my reservation at 6:30pm (during the evening of Friday 9/15/2023) via-OpenTable roughly a week in advance to assure that everything would go as smooth as possible. I arrived with my +1 around 6:15pm, parked in the lot of the Hampton Inn & Suites (where Oliver's Rooftop is located), and proceeded to the elevator that leads to the rooftop where the actual restaurant is located. This place has a very nice feel to it with natural sunlight in multiple areas of the restaurant. It is an enclosed rooftop meaning that you do not get any of the outside elements when dining here. After letting the hostess know that we had reservations, we were seated within a couple minutes. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the busier times on Friday and Saturday evenings. You will find booths with window views in every direction as well as tables that can accommodate the larger groups of people. Finally, a very open bar stretches throughout for sipping on a cocktail or even ordering an appetizer or full-on meal. As far as their food menu, they carry standard, upscale American cuisine including sandwiches, burgers, and quite a mix of surf & turf entrées including a seafood medley, 22 oz. cowboy steak, eggplant pasta, chicken piccata, lobster pasta, and filet mignon. In addition to that, they have appetizers such as sticky wings & lobster deviled eggs as well as soups and salads. Since I was technically in Pennsylvania, I decided to go with their "Philly Steak Sandwich" (for $18). This consisted of shaved ribeye steak sautéed with mushrooms, peppers, onions, and finished with provolone cheese and chipotle aioli. I completed my sandwich with a side of steak fries and a "Railbender Ale" straight out of Erie Brewing Company. My beer is brought out in just a few minutes while my sandwich comes out only a few minutes after that. This sandwich was very well-proportioned and tasted absolutely amazing. The perfect amount of seasoning mixed in with the tender shaved ribeye really hit all the high notes for me. When paired up with the onions & peppers and the soft sponginess of the bun, every bite was decadent and amazing. My +1 had their "Gourmet Burger" and said even that tasted great. As far as timeliness of the food, service that was provided, and the overall ambiance, everything in my opinion was very good. I will say that "Oliver's Rooftop" is one of the better rooftop restaurants I have been to. Choices in Erie, PA can be limited when you look at the picturesque view but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. And if you happen to still be in a drinking mood (or if you wish to drink before dinner), they have a dedicated beer garden on the ground level directly outside of the hotel complete with picnic tables and umbrellas to shield out the sun. All in all, this is a place I highly recommend; perfect for a date or a large group. My rating, an above average four stars. read more

We went to this place on a Sunday night. The place was packed. We had a reservation and were greeted and seated immediately, although not at a window table as we would love. The ambiance was lovely. Compatible with the name of the place that belongs to a war hero captain of the war of 1813. The service was nice and timely and attentive. We ordered shrimp appetizers and Oliver's salad and a local fish. For the dessert we ordered sweet potato cheesecake. All were well prepared and delicious. Oliver's Rooftop was outstanding. I never thought It would exceed my expectations the way it did! We had a date night on the rooftop restaurant and luckily we were seating near the open windows for these spectacular views. The vibe of the restaurant was upscale with dim lighting and mixed seating with a bar area. Our service and waiter were exceptional. Everything was fast paced and brought to us in a timely manner. As much as we love appetizers, we skipped one because we both wanted to enjoy our entrees, every last bite - and we did. I ordered the Parmesan-Herb Crusted Walleye. This was the first time trying this fish and it was hands down my favorite (I'm not joking, even compared to the grouper in Aruba!). I didn't want it to be gone, it was that good. My mouth is watering typing this! It was dressed with lemon, butter wine sauce served with basmati rice and seasoned broccoli. Alex had the 22 oz cowboy steak and he is a steak guru, and this was also one of his favorites he's ever had! The fun thing about this location is it has a beer garden at the bottom, by the water, with live music and entertainment so after we ate our dinner we ventured across the way to enjoy some cheap beers and music! 10/10! read more

We had a fantastic dinner at Oliver's Rooftop Restaurant celebrating our anniversary!!! I made reservations for a window table. The views were absolutely amazing. We were staying at the Sheraton, so it was a five minute walk to Olivers, which is located on top of the Hampton Inn hotel. We had the sticky chicken wings for an appetizer. They were really good. I ordered the fillet and it was amazing! Every bite was better than the last. The service was outstanding. We had a great first visit to Oliver's Rooftop. Peggy had the walleye.. It was very very good. I had the special that came with lobster steak carrots and asparagus. The steak was done perfectly. The lobster was just the right amount. The asparagus and the carrots. OK I can't speak to the carrots, I gave the Carr to my better half because I know she loves I didn't see any left on the plates so they must've been good. They have a pretty nice bar and the restaurant has great views. The service from David was outstanding. He checked back just more than the minimum times it was a couple extra trips. The view from the restaurant is outstanding. We are staying in the marina And it was a short one block walk to the Hampton Inn where Oliver rooftop is located. Pretty cool for Hampton you have a bar. I'll have to admit I was a little disappointed, they didn't have my rum but everything else was outstanding. I would highly recommend Oliver's rooftop. Just left Oliver's rooftop restaurant As a frequent patron we were very disappointed. I had to return to the hostess to find out why our server had not come to our table after being seated for ten minutes. They were not overwhelmingly busy. When the hostess was asked by the server to bring us waters my wife asked for a straw. She brought ONE back to the table while holding it in her fingers. She dropped it on her menu. Our regular server John whom we request for every occasion always holds the straws with cocktail napkins and drops them into the water glasses insuring a sanitary service. We left before ordering disappointed that although the manager attempted to convince to stay it seemed like a half attempt. I'm sure we will return however I will double check the reservation to insure that the John is working. All in all as the most expensive restaurant in Erie we expect better. read more

I have been coming to Oliver's for a few years now. It's just about some of the best food in Erie with some of the best views of the bay! This place gets slammed on holidays and during special events, so reservations are recommended. The service here is generally pretty good. We have always had knowledgeable wait staff and friendly bartenders. Their drink sizes and flavors have certainly changed over the last year. Right now they want you to pay $17 for a blackberry margarita that is NOT fresh whatsoever. It is a mix and the flavor is just not there. The regular margarita is the same flavor, only for $9. This needs to change, pronto. Please add more options with mezcal and Prosecco. You should be on par with other fine dining restaurants around the country! The food is always excellent. I have had the pork chop, steak and souvlaki salad on my most recent visits. The waffle dessert is a sure fire favorite and my husband never lets me share his :) A great ending to a fine meal. We'll always return to Oliver's, but would love to see some new menu items and also a tweak of the drink menu. read more

We started with sticky wings which were very tasty. She had a filet and enjoyed every bite. I had a pasta special despite my hesitation about pasta - I hate overcooked pasta! The pasta was perfectly Al dente and the scallops were equally perfectly cooked. It was my hf's birthday and they brought a dessert with sparkler to the table (at no cost to us). Unquestionably the worst meal I've had at a Hilton property. Ordered their chicken piccata as nothing else on the menu really called out to me. I like a simple chicken piccata, but usually something else is more appealing at the places I go to. So I was really expecting a basic humble but good meal. It was horrible. And really nothing on the menu was of interest to me, in addition to the chicken, I got Caesar salad also. I was surprised anchovies where part of the options and ordered it with the anchovies. I like anchovies except, these were the fishyest smelling and worst tasting anchovies I've ever had. Almost like a bait shop in my mouth when I ate them. Add 20 bucks for a glass of cheap wine and the only thing going for the place is the view. An hour later I had an episode of colon cleansing, it's a good thing I had a room at the hotel this restaurant is located at. Hotel on its own is actually nice, clean rooms, clean bathroom, nice location, and nice views. Breakfast is ok. Not the best a Hilton property can offer but not too bad either. The restaurant however I cannot recommend. Maybe the steak is ok, idk. I won't be back which means I will not be back to the hotel. read more

I came here looking for a brunch spot with my girlfriend. The hostess welcomed us with a table with a view to Presque isle. Steph offered us the cocktails menu and we ordered two blue gin mules, which were so refreshing. Then we ordered a cranberry apple feta salad. We dined at Oliver's on our anniversary May 31 st and April 17th for my wif'e's birthday. Neither time was good! We always have filets and have been at the restaurant many times. This last time both our meals were almost cold and the wife's filet was burnt and had no flavor. Waiter did offer to take her filet back but she refused. Not sure if they changed chefs but two bad meals in a row, we won't be going back anytime soon. read more

As good as it's going to get north of Pittsburgh, east of Cleveland, south of Toronto, and west of Philly. Northwestern PA is not "foodie central", but Oliver's delivers a quailty meal, consistent service, and a nice view which is not incredibly easy to find in this geographical area. We'll start with the location: a [nicer] Hampton Inn rooftop overlooking the a harbor on Lake Erie. The restaurant features its own elevator which bypasses guest room floors on its way to the top so that there's no confusion with luggage laden hotel guests. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow for great views, and it appears that sections of the restaurant can be converted to open-air if the weather allows. Service is good. Don't expect a professionally trained waitstaff, but do expect reliable, friendly service. Bar service was slow during our visit, but it seemed to be more of a staffing issue. The service wasn't standout enough to guarantee my return; likewise, it wasn't subpar to a degree that would discourage another visit. Our meal -- brunch -- was excellent. We started with a tempura shrimp appetizer. For an entrée I had the Greek Scrambler, which was easily one of the best breakfasts I've had in the regional area. My husband had the Classic Eggs Benedict, and he reported that they were very good (and he's picky about his Benedicts). We had reservations for brunch, but there were plenty of open tables and bar seats during our visit. I suspect that is probably not the case for dinner. If you're looking for a quality dinner with good service and a nice atmosphere you won't go wrong here, and the prices are well-aligned with the quality of food and service. read more
