First time here and this place was amazing. The apps (short rib poutine fries/shrimp crab dip) and our entrees (lamb shank, lemon honey chicken, filet mignon, bone in breaded pork loin) were all delicious. Our cocktails were great as well. Our server Thor was also very personable and did a great job explaining any questions on the menu! We will be back! Only con but nothing bad was the place is a little noisy but I just think the sound carries in it. It made it somewhat at times hard to talk/hear but we were able to adjust to it. read more

I had a terrific meal at Born and Braised. We started with the Thai basil mussels, which were rich, buttery, and full of flavor, plus the portion was very generous. For my entrée, I ordered the tiger shrimp and grits. The grits were creamy, the blistered tomatoes added the perfect touch of acidity, and all of the components of the dish came together beautifully. My friend ordered the lemon and honey chicken and said it was excellent as well. The atmosphere at Born and Braised feels intimate with a beautiful art deco vibe. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu. read more

We arrived on time for our 6:30 reservation however 25 minutes later no one had stopped at the table to ask for our drink order so we left. They were not busy and most of the other tables were currently eating or were finished. Very disappointed!!! We went based on a recommendation and will definitely not be back to try again. read more

Service was good. Our server was also the bartender, was polite and attentive. My chicken could have cooked a bit longer but overall it was decent. My wife's pork chop parmesan was flavorless. For the price, it needs to rival and exceed chain restaurants. read more

Food was delicious, service needs a bit of improvement. We had a table for 2 for dinner, with a reservation. Restaurant was almost full when we arrived. We brought a bottle of wine, they have a liquor license but currently don't serve wine or beer. Server didnt write the order down correctly, they brought the wrong food to the table, then we waited a while longer. They asked if we wanted a complementary cocktail which was nice but we were enjoying our wine. It just didn't make sense, maybe a salad, bread or appetizer since we were still waiting for our food. Food arrived but server didnt give us silverware abs we had to wait/ask for that too. When the bill came they still had the food wrong so that needed corrected too and we didn't catch it till after we paid and tipped. Maybe our server had an off night but then he made a comment about not wanting to overcharge us and to "save us money" by adjusting the bill. It was his mistake for charging us for the wrong meal and we pointed it out. Ambiance, I would have enjoyed them dimming the lights a bit. Seemed like it was plenty bright. read more

Tried Born & Braised about one week after their opening and let me tell you, I wasn't disappointed! We had a variety of the items on the menu to try and hands down the gnocchi Mac & cheese was the best. I tried to keep my composure and it like the plate (but I did use the duck fat fries to clean it up!). The mushroom toast was equally amazing as was the popcorn ice cream, the steak that melted in our mouths. Like seriously can't say enough good things! Great ambiance / vibe. Can't wait to try their new items they'll be rotating through. The staff were great too. All very attentive and friendly. We'll be back soon!!! read more

By friends: we were clapped at like school children, told we could have dessert but would have to sit at the bar. Their next reservation was to be seated. Said food wasn't worth the price, had a long wait time and staff was not up to par. So think twice before you go here. They may need to put out an update, "We've fixed our staff and extended normal dinners to 90 minutes" as they should be like every other restaurant. read more

Excellent food. We were seated on time. BYOB (for now) The room was almost full when we got there. Great style. Great energy. ausome Ambiance - So glad you kept the floor and bar top. We ordered Chicken Marsala, Jambalaya, Filet and Braised Boar. Everything was fabulous. Great portions. (some when home with us) The Service was excellent. (Shout out to Trae) We will be back if we can plan far enough ahead! Reservations definitely required! Erie is lucky to have this spot. read more

Dining here was an unsatisfactory first-time experience to say the least. Our server, Thor, added to my disappointment of my poorly prepared entree with his negative attitude. To elaborate, the Osso Buco arrived dry and burnt, unlike other restaurants with the pork being tender, moist, and fall-off-the-bone delicious! According to Thor the meat was "braised" for 5-6 hours. If anyone knows anything about braising, even the toughest piece of meat doesn't call for this unusual lengthy amount of cooking time! That all in itself explains the dryness of the meat. The chef never came out of the kitchen to see why I sent back not only the Osso Buco, but the second entree (Herb Crusted Pork Tenderloin), as well. It's worthy of highlighting that both of these entrees were--according to Thor--braised for 5 - 6 hours...basically dry and burnt. The Brussels Sprouts Fricassee that accompanied the Pork Tenderloin wasn't anything to write home to Mom about either...and this is coming from a veggie lover! The capstone to my dreadful experience was the inability to hear the woman who I was sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with at our table of eleven (11). At the end of the night, everyone swore that they'd never return due to the poor acoustics. In closing, the friend across from me also ordered the Osso Buco, one of her favorite dishes. She agreed that the meat was tough, burnt, and not at all up to the normal standards for an entree that is top on her list of favorites, when dining out. Oh....expect a corking fee, regardless of, if you BYOB with a screw top. As a side note, Thor, either forgot to add the fee to our bill, as well as to another friend's bill who also brought her own vino OR the establishment decided to comp this fee due to our situation. read more

My husband and I checked out Born & Braised tonight. It was packed! Everyone did a fabulous job! We both had the lemonade which was great not to sweet or too tart. To start we were intrigued by the smoked fish dip which is smoked in house. Another couple recommended it to us. Definitely did not disappoint. I would go back just for that alone. The presentation is 1000 times better than that we got excited and ate some before taking a picture. For the main my husband had the 1/2 chicken mash potatoes and asparagus which he loved. I had the oxtail and mashed potatoes. The oxtail was perfectly cooked and falling off the bone. Wasn't overly fatty either. Dessert we had the popcorn ice cream. It's like cracker jacks in the form of ice cream. It is very rich perfect for two people to share. read more

My boyfriend and I went for a date night at Born & Braised this past Sunday and let me just say... wow. I wanna start off with saying the service was phenomenal - friendly, knowledgeable on the menu. We didn't feel rushed; it was a lovely appropriately-paced date night meal. We felt like we got to take the time to really enjoy the food, the atmosphere and each others company but were never sat wondering, "Okay, where's our food". We started with the Gnocchi Mac & Cheese as well as mushroom toast (not pictured, I ate it too fast ) I was curious about the gnocchi because it had a lot of strong ingredients but it was AMAZINGLY balanced; it had the perfect amount of tanginess from the goat cheese, just enough truffle to taste but not take over, perfectly tender and fresh homemade gnocchi. The mushroom toast - same! The whipped ricotta had the perfect amount of lemon to really brighten up the earthy mushrooms. And the bread itself was fantastic. Moving on to entrees - Jambalaya and the special seafood risotto with scallops. I've had A LOT of scallops, they're my favorite seafood, and these were cooked to perfection. Once again, everything complemented each other. The flavor of the scallops wasn't over shadowed by any part of the dish, which is easy to do. The texture of the risotto was spot on. I stole some of my boyfriend's jambalaya and it was incredibly flavorful but complemented the proteins. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the sausage had a nice spicy bite, the chicken was tender and not remotely dry. Side dishes - braised cabbage with caraway cream sauce and duck fat fries. I'm not a french fry fan in general, those were my boyfriend's pick, so I'll leave those to your own opinion, but that cabbage so tender! And the sauce had the perfect amount of caraway flavor. On to dessert - bananas foster bread pudding and pumpkin creme brulee. I absolutely HATE bread pudding - I'd eat a whole plate of this! The texture of the bananas really made it for me and that Myer's Rum sauce was SO good. The pumpkin creme brulee was perfection - perfectly smooth and creamy. Not overly pumpkin-spiced (I feel like its REALLY easy to go overboard and take away from the pumpkin flavor itself). The amaretto whipped cream was the perfect little topping. Our waiter also gave us a sample of the horchatta ice cream and we ate it with the bread pudding and it was delicious.
