Bar with a drink

A great restaurant located in Downton Erie! The staff is always friendly. The menu seems to change fairly often, but I've never ordered something that I didn't like. There's a large dining room, a good sized bar and a really big outdoor patio. They also have large banquet rooms for large gatherings and private events. I've had quite a few different meals here and enjoyed them all. The turkey on focaccia is a solid choice. My current favorite is the Boom Boom Shrimp Grinder. Absolutely delicious.

Food was delicious but the drinks were terrible... pomegranate paloma just tasted like cheap tequila on ice and it was undrinkable. however every dish we had was great! I had the state street salad with Bang Bang shrimp and it was delicious. Service was OK. And we sat at the outdoor patio which was very nice!.

Outdoor dining

Food was fantastic. Fish tacos and prime rib melt were great. Started with a cup of chicken tortilla soup that was very good. We also had a cup of gumbo which was also very good. Quick service. Great outdoor ambiance. I would highly recommend. Many things on menu I'd like to try

Was a recommendation from our hotel. We arrived and waited a bit to be seated but once we were seated, our service was excellent! We sat in the upper area of the bar that was quiet and in view of several televisions with various channels displayed. Our food was delicious. And the side of fruit was incredible fresh!! Thank you for a wonderful experience as we pass through.

During our last night in Erie, PA as part of a "workcation" with the family, we wanted to find a place with outdoor seating, good food, and drinks. Calamari's did not disappoint, and had a really cool outdoor patio - I called ahead because of limited COVID seating which I recommend. We got an order of its namesake - the Calamari and it was delicious tender and crispy! I could probably eat a large order as a meal - great portions too. For my main meal, my eyes immediately gravitated to the Filet and Croissant melt, if you put fancy meat and cheese on a croissant how can you not say no. The meal was delicious and all the prices were fair, and they had a huge drink list both beer, wine, and cocktails. If you're looking for a cool ambiance, delicious food, and a variety of drinks, I would definitely recommend Calamari's Squid Row!

My family and I dined at Calamari's outside patio for dinner. A perfect place to eat outside, even though they are also open for dine-in as well. We started off with drinks and I ordered a Vodka & Soda. I was delighted to be served a large, tall glass that was plenty strong. As someone that lives in the city, I found the price to be extremely reasonable. We had to start off with a large order of Calamari, I mean that's what the place is called! It came out hot and fresh, fried very lightly. It was paired with both cocktail and thai chili sauce. As we placed entree orders the server asked if we wanted our tots or fries with "Kranch" seasoning. At first I wasn't sure what it was (I was familiar with Heinz combining ranch and ketchup to make a Kranch sauce) but the server said it was a go-to and must get. I wasn't disappointed, it turned out to be a cajun/ranch spice and it really made my fries pop. Also well seasoned was the fried Catfish I had to go with my exotically seasoned fries. Overall we all had a great dinner!

I was always recommended Calamari's during my short time in Erie and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to grab some! I got a takeout order after work since I was actually in the area. Of course, I got the calamari that I was always recommended. It's unfortunate it's not normal times nowadays and one can't really enjoy the full dining experience. Regardless, the calamari was delicious with the perfect crunch and the dipping sauces adding a perfect kick of flavor. I think I got a larger portion and that was plenty and definitely something to share amongst friends or maybe 1 or 2 other people in your home. Now, I want some good calamari since it's hard to come across good calamari here haha Street metered parking is available right outside, although when I went, none of the meters were working so maybe it's like that for some time now? If you're in the area, definitely drop by.

Loved the atmosphere, server was awesome. We went with the calamari and grinders. There is an outdoor patio but we ate inside by the bar. Calamari is served with a sweet, spicy sauce, yum! We had the spicy shrimp and the roast beef grinders (where I come from, called subs!) Definitely worth the stop

Shrimp tacos... all fixing were fresh and it was delicious

I didn't think too much into the reservation but when I showed up it was definitely not the place I recall (now known as Pier 6) but I recall looking at photos that it would be worth checking it out. We were promptly seated and greeted by the waitress. The lunch menu is brief with a few items in each section of Apps, salads, sandwiches and plates. We opted for the calamari as we heard it was a good app to start with. At the same time we ordered drinks which consisted of coffee, Expresso martini and the aperol spritz. The calamari came out and it was a good amount. However, they were very small and it was dry. We got the perch sandwich and it came out with an enormous amount of shoe string fries which imo are the worse type as they are typically over fried and so were these. Frying a good filet of fish is usually a bad idea and this sandwich would be better served to be grilled when your fries are fried and the calamari is fried too. Service was slow for being an empty restaurant. Note: we had a 4 year old with us and the key is to always rush their food asap so they stay content. Since we waited a bunch of time, we had some ancy people at the table after 1 hour 45 minute lunch where the room was essentially empty. Much improvement can be had otherwise spend your dollars at Pier 6 for a much better experience.

We brought a bottle of wine, they have a liquor license but currently don't serve wine or beer. Server didnt write the order down correctly, they brought the wrong food to the table, then we waited a while longer. They asked if we wanted a complementary cocktail which was nice but we were enjoying our wine. It just didn't make sense, maybe a salad, bread or appetizer since we were still waiting for our food. Food arrived but server didnt give us silverware abs we had to wait/ask for that too. When the bill came they still had the food wrong so that needed corrected too and we didn't catch it till after we paid and tipped. Maybe our server had an off night but then he made a comment about not wanting to overcharge us and to "save us money" by adjusting the bill. It was his mistake for charging us for the wrong meal and we pointed it out. Ambiance, I would have enjoyed them dimming the lights a bit. Seemed like it was plenty bright.

When I order short rib, I expect an actual short rib on the plate. Other than that, the experience was good. Server Josh was prompt and personable. Beer was in a deceiving small glass for tap beer. Prices reminiscent of PGH or Cincinnati, not small town Erie. Mac and cheese was good. I couldn't eat the app burgers due to aioli, and no offer to bring one free of aioli. I love the atmosphere, but very disappointed in my short rib dish. Asked for any reduction sauce instead of aioli and nothing was possible (I don't consider this a big ask).

I came here for an early dinner and my oh my I have got to pay more attention. Go in, push the book case and plan to stay awhile! Cocktails outstanding, appetizers were plentiful, the entree was just ok, vibes were everything. I started with the hibiscus spritzer which was a little bit on the sweet side for me but very refreshing. The whipped feta plate (I cannot recalled the exact name) with a very large portion with whipped feta, pita bread, rye crisps and sweet peppers which was healthy and refreshing. For an entree we decided to share the short ribs. It was a very large portion that came with mashed potatoes and steamed carrots. The temperature was off like it wasn't fresh, it wasn't hot the short rib was dry the carrots were hots, the potatoes lukewarm, the plate hot, all very odd. I didn't care for it so I'm glad we shared it. My friend enjoyed it I didn't say anything. For dessert (there is no menu so they share the specials verbally) We selected what we were told was a strawberry cheesecake. It was not cheesecake. It was definitely a shortbreak with a way too sweet frosting. I was very disappointed in this because I would chosen the chocolate cake (or nothing). Just as we wrapped up the live music had started. This place is super cute, and perfect for drinks, dinner, a date, the live music, etc.

We had been…read morelooking for a brewery in Erie to visit after the Erie Marathon whenever Lavery Brewing popped up on Yelp. This place is large and has both outdoor seating on the side as well as plenty of indoor seating. The inside looked like a mix of cozy and industrial, with a long wooden bar stretching the length of the room, warm pendant lights hanging overhead, colorful beer boards on the wall, and shelves lined with bottles and glassware behind the bar. It had a relaxed but lively feel to it. After looking around to figure out where we wanted to sit, we ultimately chose the bar. For lunch on this day I chose to go with the pimento smash deluxxxe while my wife went with the pesto pizza. The menu described my meal as two smash patties, bacon, American cheese, pimento cheese, and onion rings on a brioche bun while my wife's was described as parsley basil pesto, triple cheese blend, fire roasted tomatoes with a balsamic glaze. I thought that the burger here was delicious as the patties were seasoned nicely and I appreciated the onion rings. While there was plenty of cheese and it was flavorful, I almost could have used more of the pimento. Then my wife liked her pizza here especially the pesto combined with the fire roasted tomatoes. Then for drinks, as I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Lavery Brewing, a flight consists of 6 beers and I chose the Active Recovery, Seeking Clarity, Lime n Cuke, Throwing Tropical Shade, Sound Mild, and Divine Intervention for my flight. I first started with the Active Recovery which was light and hoppy and very drinkable. Up second was the Seeking Clarity which had a clean start before a heavy dose of hops in the middle which surprisingly didn't linger. Third was the Lime n Cuke which has a strong cucumber smell and the drink itself is dry like most goses with a mild lime and stronger cucumber flavor. Fourth was Throwing Tropical Shade and you could really taste the orange and other tropical flavors with a finish flavor of coconut. For me this was a really delicious beer. Up fifth was the Sound Mild which was light but you got the nice flavor of those toasted malts at the finish. Last but certainly not least was the Divine Intervention which had a strong coconut flavor on the finish. Out of the bunch my favorite ended up being the Throwing Tropical Shade. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed the beverages and the food and we left both happy and stuffed.
