I stopped by here a number of weekends ago now with my wife for lunch and some drinks. We had been looking for a brewery in Erie to visit after the Erie Marathon whenever Lavery Brewing popped up on Yelp. This place is large and has both outdoor seating on the side as well as plenty of indoor seating. The inside looked like a mix of cozy and industrial, with a long wooden bar stretching the length of the room, warm pendant lights hanging overhead, colorful beer boards on the wall, and shelves lined with bottles and glassware behind the bar. It had a relaxed but lively feel to it. After looking around to figure out where we wanted to sit, we ultimately chose the bar. For lunch on this day I chose to go with the pimento smash deluxxxe while my wife went with the pesto pizza. The menu described my meal as two smash patties, bacon, American cheese, pimento cheese, and onion rings on a brioche bun while my wife's was described as parsley basil pesto, triple cheese blend, fire roasted tomatoes with a balsamic glaze. I thought that the burger here was delicious as the patties were seasoned nicely and I appreciated the onion rings. While there was plenty of cheese and it was flavorful, I almost could have used more of the pimento. Then my wife liked her pizza here especially the pesto combined with the fire roasted tomatoes. Then for drinks, as I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight here. At Lavery Brewing, a flight consists of 6 beers and I chose the Active Recovery, Seeking Clarity, Lime n Cuke, Throwing Tropical Shade, Sound Mild, and Divine Intervention for my flight. I first started with the Active Recovery which was light and hoppy and very drinkable. Up second was the Seeking Clarity which had a clean start before a heavy dose of hops in the middle which surprisingly didn't linger. Third was the Lime n Cuke which has a strong cucumber smell and the drink itself is dry like most goses with a mild lime and stronger cucumber flavor. Fourth was Throwing Tropical Shade and you could really taste the orange and other tropical flavors with a finish flavor of coconut. For me this was a really delicious beer. Up fifth was the Sound Mild which was light but you got the nice flavor of those toasted malts at the finish. Last but certainly not least was the Divine Intervention which had a strong coconut flavor on the finish. Out of the bunch my favorite ended up being the Throwing Tropical Shade. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed the beverages and the food and we left both happy and stuffed. read more

Stopped here while on business in Erie. Located in an old warehouse. Parking is limited and if you drive too fast, you might miss this place. Did a flight while I was there. Lots of locals in there. Bartenders weren't not as attentive as I would've preferred. They poured the wrong beer in my flight, but I was gifted with a extra sample because of that. They had a couple pumpkin beers that really didn't taste much like pumpkin aside from that, they have all different styles, including IPAs. For me, it's all about the beer and the beer was average. The venue was pretty cool. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again, but it was a good experience. They do have food as well, but I did not look at the menu. read more

I was at Lavery once before and enjoyed it. It had been a while since I visited. This visit has thought it looked different inside. I asked the bartender what was different, apparently they took over the spot that was in the front of the building and now have their original and the new one. It's a big space now with lots of natural lighting, huge bars and tables. I saw they have food but I didn't order any. They had lots of beers on taps in f all different kinds of styles. I am a hazy IPA fan and they had numerous of those on tap. I tried a few and they were pretty on point. If I lived closer to Erie I would probably go more often. I was impressed. read more

We decided to hit them up for the first time during a happy hour to get a feel for the type of regulars, service, atmosphere, and beer variety. $2 off happy hour 4pm-6pm on a Tuesday. This place is so comfortable and chill! Nice location with off-street parking in a cool older building they renovated, but kept old touches like the woodwork and fireplace mantle. Very well decorated with awesome art, perfect layout, well designed customer flow, great music at a comfortable talking volume, plenty of seating options(cozy nook with sofa, tables with chairs, and bar seating),and a little merch shop. Very clean well stocked bathroom for customers only. Friendly staff that let you sample beers before buying. We liked everything we tried and bought. They keep it very clean. A blonde lady even dusted the fireplace and a table near where we were seated. You can tell most customers were regulars so staff were a lot more talkative and spent way more time engaging with them. We were understanding of that because regulars are your bread and butter and you know about what they're going to tip, we were wild card new faces. No one was unwelcoming or anything, we were very happy with our service and experience. We can't wait to come back to try food and more beers next time! We highly recommend them! read more

They seem to have undergone a renovation/expansion recently and the result is a trendy and welcoming atmosphere. They have a smallish menu, but realistically, you can only eat one thing at a time. Our party of seven all got different dishes and the chef was 7 for 7...all great reviews from us! The bartenders were excellent...friendly and helpful without being sickeningly sweet or in-your-face enthusiastic. Lastly the beer...it was good. Decent selection, but in my opinion they have a disproportionate number of NEIPAs. But the porter was outstanding. Overall, Lavery's is worth a visit. I went for lunch during the week and had their Birria Tacos. There isn't any way I can think of that would make them better. The cheese is what really stood out to me and made them unique. I also had a Spicy Paloma. I recommend trying it to anyone getting drinks. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. I played the role of a smart tourist and didn't go the places on the lake front. I'm happy I discovered this place. It's a hidden gem. When you first walk in you might feel confused but rest assured after walking through the long corridor is another door which greets you to the bar. The staff is friendly. Great spot for a great variety of draft and canned bears. Menu also has something for everyone's tastebuds. I ordered the roulette tacos so I'm not sure which one I received but the sauce was delicious. Only downside was the flour tortillas which seems to be the norm for tacos in Erie. The food was delicious. My only problem was when I got home and reviewed my receipt, I was charged 22 dollars for a hamburger that was on the menu for 18. That was without ordering any extras. My daughter had ordered a 15 dollar burger, which she ordered bacon as an extra and they charged her 22. Really? 7 dollars for two slices of bacon?? Your receipt prices do not reflect your menu prices, and for this...I do not believe I will be back. Really a shame too. read more

Father's Day evening in Erie the dining options were somewhat limited, so we opted for some beers and brew food. The chicken gyro was amazing, the lavery burger was amazing. Fries were good. There weren't any pizzas on this night, that's okay. The servers were very friendly. There's a nice little outdoor area, we ate indoors, but on a less humid evening we might have sat outside. Stopped here with a friend on a Monday evening for dinner. It was fairly busy and we seated ourselves in the dining room. After reviewing the menu we realized that you order from the bar and the bartender delivers your food and drink to your table. There was only a single bartender working, she did an amazing job taking care of the bar and dining room by herself. We both ordered burgers, I also had an 1847 rye stout. The burgers and drinks came promptly and were both tasty. The burgers came with kettle fries which were equally good. Would not hesitate to return here. read more
