Let me say I like this restaurant. I believe in supporting local business, and I do. That being said, I find that occasionally something is off with the food, the order, or the service when I dine here. This last visit is making me want to share, just because is was a series of simple mistakes, that never should have happened. To start, I ordered the Tropical Seafood Cakes (which are delicious) for an appetizer to share. Our server brought the plate to the table and set it in the middle of the table, with 2 plastic forks. Mind you, it is served on a triangular shaped plate the size of a small salad plate. Once you set that in the middle of the table, this small dish is away from you. We should have been offered 2 dishes to share the 2 cakes on, instead of cutting it with a fork from the middle of the table and hoping it doesn't crumble apart before it reaches your mouth. Whatever - not a big deal. Meanwhile, I had ordered a cup of hot tea. The server brought a mug of water to the table with a tea bag. I put the tea bag in, and started to stir when I realized the water not only wasn't hot, it was barely luke warm. She must have filled the mug from the faucet. I went up to the bar and the girls were very nice and apologized and said they would take care of it. When she brought my mug back to the table it was hot... but she just put the whole thing - tea bag and all - in the microwave, hence the scum from the tea was now encrusted on the inside of the mug in hard pieces. Yuck. She should have just replaced it with a new mug, hot water and new tea bag. So now it's time to order, and I ask the server (Chloe) about the ranch fries - specifically about the salt. I have to monitor my sodium intake. She said there is salt in the mix - but not much, just a little bit. Based on that I decided to order them. When our meals came, I tried the fries... and they were nothing BUT salt. I had 3 french fries and had to stop because they were so bad... horrible. When she came back to the table later she asked if anyone wanted a box, which I did as I only ate 1/2 my mushroom burger (which was good). I spoke up and said "excuse me, but these fries are nothing but salt, they really are inedible", to which she said she was sorry... and nothing more. Yet - she brought me the bill and charged me for them! When someone tells you the food they served you is inedible and tastes like a salt shaker, she should have offered to replace them. Instead she just threw them out. My guest was sitting there just shaking his head in disbelievemnt at this point. He had to flag her down to ask for a refill on his Sprite, which was empty most of the meal. She replaced it, or so we thought... she filled his glass which had Sprite in it - with water. ‍ Not what he asked for. He asked for a refill of Sprite. All the while she had brought us the bill, with out ever asking if we wanted dessert... which we had planned on ordering. By this point we just wanted to leave. This is a cute restaurant, food is generally good. The staff is young teenagers for the most part, and I attribute a lot of this to just being young and not knowing proper etiquette but this is the end of the season, not the beginning. Hopefully management/ownership will read this and properly inform their young servers how to handle situations a little better... like charging a customer for food that needed replaced. That's how you keep your customers happy and wanting to come back. And how you get patrons to recommend you. I still would recommend give the restaurant a try, however be prepared for possible issues with your order. read more

Excellent place to eat! This restaurant is right next to Edinboro Lake Resort so it's an easy walk from there. The restaurant has a parking lot too. We were greeted when we walked in, and selected a table near the lake. The server brought menus and utensils. We ordered the artichoke dip appetizer which was delicious. It was homemade and came with pita and tortilla chips. For my entree, I ordered the fruit salad and chose coconut shrimp as the protein. A super good salad! The lettuce and fruit were very fresh, and coconut shrimp was crisp. The shrimp was a good choice as it went well with the mandarin orange dressing. My spouse at the chipotle burger and loved it. No room to eat dessert, but took a piece of peanut butter pie home. Yum!!!! So creamy and delicious! The server was very attentive and thanked us for eating there. read more

Lovely setting at sunset. It was very busy so we sat at the bar, facing the lake. Some of our group took a boat ride and docked at the restaurant. We never had to flag down a server. Servers were very attentive to our needs, refilling glasses frequently. Food selections were upscale bar food. I had a Greek salad with a peppercorn tuna steak. My daughter and l visited Edinboro U as a potential college choice. After visit we used Yelp and found Sunset Grill (I thought of the Don Henley song, obviously). RIGHT on Lake Ediboro! We fed some fish, in facf!! Saw kayakers too. Server was kind of new (my daughter ordered a Roy Rogers, server did not know what it was - when my daughter mentioned it was Coke + Grenadine, server asked if that was alcohol?!) Anyhow, Food was delicious! I had Turkey Bacon Wrap with kettle chips, and daughter built her own chicken sandwich with french fries. Both were fabulous. We left Full!! As a busy family, we have but a few fleeting hours weekly to get together and enjoy some down home delicious food. One of the spots we frequent is the delightful Sunset Grill in Edinboro, Pa. My wife Nicolette ordered a burger of some sort and said it was quite possibly the best burger she's had in the last 5 years. My youngest son Malachi can be very picky. Our server Chloe was very patient and helpful while helping explain to him what he might like. The ambiance with the lake view is amazing, but it's the hardworking staff that makes this place worth visiting. We have had nothing but great meals, and Chloe has been our server approx 3 times now and the service provided has been nothing short of exemplary. Even my eldest son, Randall who is tough to impress, left with a an extra skip in his step. We will absolutely be back to dine before the season is over, and will hopefully be able to request Chloe as our server. 5 stars. read more

i have been a silent lover of sunset grill for months and have decided after a review from a fellow Yelper, Brigitta, about one of our families favorite servers, Chloe, that its time for me to voice my love and confusion! after reading that review i have come to the conclusion that she has to much time on her hands and needs to learn to speak up for herself. as a family of 5 we have sent Chloe along with countless other servers at sunset running back and forth for things we forgot and they always do so with a smile, so if you had a problem with the plating situation, asking her would be a solution instead of complaining on the internet. and on the same note of your monotonous complaining, my child does not like cheese SO WE DON'T ORDER CHEESE, if you don't like salt or need to "monitor your sodium intake" i'm unsure why one would order the fries specially tossed in seasoning that includes salt. regular fries without salt can be easily accommodated in the kitchen which Chloe has recommended to us before as my husband has high blood pressure. i hate to see complaining, especially on the internet, about a small businesses my family knows and loves. we have been here countless times and have never once had problems, but we do speak up when we need something and have some common sense so we do differ in that way. chloe is an amazing server and goes beyond proper etiquette, she makes our family, especially our kids, excited to come and eat here and has been nothing but sweet and accommodating!! hopefully management/ownership SEES THIS MESSAGE and can see right through the complaints and realize the amazing service that goes on within their restaurant. we are excited to come back and eat with you guys soon! -The Larsons read more

Nice, clean, location with a beautiful view, and prompt and courteous wait staff. Most of the food is frozen, and all of it is pricey. Skip all the appetizers. Drinks are overpriced and low quality. Their signature rum punch is a an $8 glass of canned juice with a splash of rum. During covid I'd forgotten just how bad most bars' cocktails are, especially in NWPA. Would return to sit and socialize with friends, but would make a point of purchasing as little food and drink as possible. read more

Came here to watch the sunset over the lake while reflecting on my brothers life. Our server was awesome! She was super friendly and answered our questions about the menu items with enthusiasm. She even recommended drinks for us which were wonderfully refreshing. The food was delicious, especially Annette's Sausage Dip. I had the Steel City Club which I devoured it was so good. Decent place basically a bar with bar grub. Food was mid grade quality (standard for erie) with lots of sandwich choices that appeared to be good. Burgers look like they're premade, possibly frozen. I had tacos, pork carnitas which were also mediocre. Flatbreads and pizzas sounded promising but no one ordered them in our group. A little over priced. Pretzel app was 9 bucks for four soft pretzel sticks. Service was friendly, slightly inattentive at times. Your paying for the atmosphere. Outdoor seating and a stage. Simply amazing. Visiting here from out of town as we had a soccer tourney at the university. Came here for lunch with just my wife and another couple and was so impressed with the place I brought my entire soccer team and families (44) people for dinner. The service was beyond amazing and accommodating and the food was very good. Typical beach pub grub. Nothing outrageously delicious but everything was excellent. Places for boats to dock and the smell of campfire in the air. On top of that there was a band playing and corn hole for the kids to play. Every seat in the house overlooks the lake with cool dockside seating. To put the preverbal cherry on the sundae, there as an excellent beer selection and the bill was very affordable for a flaming. What a waste of a gorgeous view. The location (right on Edinboro Lake) is awesome. But it's outdoors, so you'll most likely be downwind from a smoker. The food's okay but pricey. The servers (for the most part) are overworked and scatterbrained. The real bummer about this place is the live music. There used to be all kinds: oldies, singer-songwriters, classic rock. I really want to love this place and give it 5 stars, but I sadly cannot. The view is awesome. The music great! If you can get a table in the shade good for you. We all enjoyed our food. I recommend making a reservation for the covered picnic table seating. Unfortunately, we were not lucky enough to do so and ended up in the only other place large enough to hold a party of 6. The enclosed space next to the bar. Where, much to our digust, every stray breeze that came our way carried the stench of cigarette smoke. My children kept trying to cover their mouths and noses with their shirts or napkins. Yes, the people in charge at Sunset Grill still haven't figured out that most people who grace their establishment do not enjoy the smell of smoke on their skin, in their hair or upon their children. YUCK! The only way to avoid the retched smell is to be seated outside but you may be unlucky enough to be seated near people who are being allowed to smoke. We all know the dangers of second hand smoke, so why is this restaurant, that is in such a gorgeous setting, ALLOWING a few of it's patrons cause harm to everyone else- including children? They are advertising themselves as a "family friendly" place in a family camping atmosphere, but don't be fooled. You are taking your children to a bar- complete with loud drinkers (a woman at a table behind us was obviously drunk and not happy with where she was seated either) and smelly smokers. Awesome place on Edinboro Lake. There's something wonderful about drinking a beer and eating a burger outside next to the water. You can take your boat or kayak right up to the docks, hope off for some lunch and a brew, then paddle away. Great selection of beers (including the local gem Sprague's) and pretty good food from what I've tasted. I had a burger and it was definitely made of fresh ground meat. How have I lived in Edinboro for 8 years and have never been here?! Food was good and atmosphere was awesome! Nicely stocked bar too. I got the pulled pork sandwich and we saw lots of tasty looking food go by, salads, pizzas....mmmmm. Recently visited on a beautiful Friday afternoon. Was able to sit outside but not on the lake. The service was terrific and my special of perch and salad was delicious, although I was upcharged for the salad instead of getting the fries. I don't mind this but the charge was $1 more than if I had just purchased a side salad to go with perch and fries. I ordered a pina colada which came in a very small plastic cup, was watery and cost $7. Go for the food and atmosphere but don't order any drinks. read more
