Not a great place, barely good. My beer was flat, noticed some seasonal beer way past season on their taps. Waitress was busy, too busy, only one working besides the cook. She seemed impatient and not very engaging. The placed was rather empty, like the name states. Dirty bathrooms. read more

The building is not very spacious, and gets crammed full with quite a few college students on weekends, but there are still usually fewer students than The Hotel BY FAR. The food, drinks, and prices are GREAT! Their Reuben sandwiches, vegetarian black bean burgers, and wings are DELICIOUS! Also, you should definitely ask for "Cranch" (Cajun-ranch) seasoning on your waffle fries, it's fantastic! Also, not sure if this is still the case or not, but when I was in college (2013-2017) it used to be if you went on Wednesdays they had $1 wells. The Keg is the go-to spot for my boyfriend and his friends to meet up on visits to their hometown, usually over the holidays. There's always a special and the beers are cheap! It's a low key spot with bar seats and around 10 tables. We usually sit in the back by the kitchen. It's less loud and crowded there. Our latest visit was also karaoke night, thankfully not too many people participated so we just got to listen to a great throwback playlist that the DJ put together. They have a bunch on tap - the likely domestics and some good local beers. I stuck with Tito's and soda or Modelo with lime. My boyfriend is grateful that they have Omission in bottles. Somehow in the end the tab was only about $20! Love a small town bar! They also have bar food and burgers, but we haven't ordered at our visits. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked good! I did order a bag of the Utz chips they keep at the bar. read more

This place looks like the inside of a wooden bucket. It's run down and full of old heads. The menu is weird, I wish I had gotten the wings. The chicken sandwich is ROUGH. It's a frozen brick they threw in the fryer. A McChicken would've been better than that thing. The waffle fries are great. The service was poor, never got a refill. There are better places in Edinboro. This place is not for young people. read more

It's the local hipster/art student bar. I am neither a hipster or an art student, but I've always enjoyed the many, many times I've frequented the Empty Keg. If you're going for food, they have some pretty stellar wings. Wet cajun is good. Their Italian wing (not the dressing, I wondered that myself... I have no clue what the sauce is) is unbelievably good. As for the bar atmosphere, they always have good beers on tap and plenty of bottles to choose from. The layout isn't the best, but the patrons are always friendly and eccentric and fun to get into conversation with. read more

My favorite bar in Edinboro. It was always chill and the kind of bar where you sit around talk, listen to music and play pool. Can get crowded on some nights, but the patrons are the cool kind and polite....not the kind you get some other bars who are rude and pushy. I would not recommend stepping into this bar/restaurant. We are senior citizens, out for a drive on Labor Day. Earlier this year we bought a Save Around Erie Coupon Book and had a coupon "Buy one menu item get one free up to $8.00 value.." The waitress was extremely rude from the start and it only got worse. We were afraid to ask for anything, even extra ketchup. When it came time to give her the coupon she said "I don't know if I can use this. I'll go ask." She came back around in 30 seconds and said she couldn't use it because our food was over $8.00. She clearly did not ask anyone nor did she understand the coupon. My husband kindly explained it to her. She grabbed the bill and coupon and stormed away. She came back, threw the check on the table and yelled "There! I took the ($6.99) hamburger off!! YA HAPPY NOW!!!" She stormed away. We were so shocked that my husband immediately got up, went over and paid the bill and we left , leaving half of our meal, uneaten. In our 60 plus years we have never, anywhere, experienced anything like this. She , most likely will not be let go, even if we called the manager, due to the shortage of servers. They take anyone that's breathing, at this point. If you do find yourself at The Empty Keg, and we don't recommend it.......DON'T BRING THE COUPON! read more

I'd come here more often if your bartender wasn't so impersonal and unfriendly. I usually go out on Tuesday's but stopped coming because of bad service! Not only does it take a while to be waited on, but food takes forever to be ordered and is mediocre at best. And beer has been long gone before another had been poured. We were a little disappointed in this place. The beer was good though. The pretzel was warm and good. The Lobster Bisque was very good. I had the chicken patty Buffalo sandwich and it was just so so. I didn't realize that I needed to add the lettuce and tomato when I ordered. It was just an overlook on my part. The waffle fries were so so too. It ended up just being bar food. Love this place. Used to be alot more gritty back in the day, but recent changes haven't dimmed this 'Boro landmark's charm. With an expanded kitchen comes a huge pub menu and imho prob one of the best places in town for bar food. Decent draft selection, with crafts and all the regular brews as well. The Fri/Sat night crowds can be a little hard to deal with, but barring that still a good place for beers, food and friends. Played many a game of pool at the table with friends. Great jukebox, and still a great place to watch the Steelers play on the handfull of tvs around the joint. Caryout beer on request. read more

My go-to bar spot in Edinboro. Reasonable prices and good bar food! Get to know the bartenders and they treat you well if you treat them well.
